Hey guys, okay so I finally got attacked by the plot bunnies and this is the result. Another chapter! Woooo!
Okay, so at the end of the last one I warned that there would be a dark turn to this story and it has arrived. I will give some disclaimers right ahead.
WARNING: THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS DRUG USE! If you're not comfortable with reading such activities I've put a warning before the drug use begins and a heads up when it's over so y'all can skip over it and still know what's going on. I, in no way, promote the use of illegal drugs. Trust me. I've seen what terrible things that they can do to people and to a family. Please stay safe and don't do drugs, it's totally not worth it. I'm just doing this because it's part of the story and it's for character development.
Thank you for listening to my long AN. Now, enjoy Savior.
Alec didn't know what happened.
One day he was cuddling with Magnus on their couch watching Supernatural reruns and then the next day he was sitting on the same couch crying and begging for Magnus to forgive him. He didn't know how he had screwed up so much, so fast.
It all began two weeks after him and Cody had met up at Taki's.
Begin flashback
"Alec, love, where are you going?" Magnus called from his position on their couch where he was currently painting his toenails.
"Just for a walk." Alec felt bad about lying to him but he wasn't about to tell Magnus that he was invited to a party that Cody was holding. Normally he would avoid parties like the plague but he really wanted to hang out with Cody, so he'd said yes.
"Okay. Can you pick me up some clear coat nail polish while you're out? I'm almost out."
"Sure, Magnus. N.Y.C. brand, right?"
"Of course."
Alec turned the knob to leave when Magnus spoke up again. "What? No good-bye kiss?"
Alec sighed and went over to his boyfriend. He leaned over and kissed him twice.
"I love you," Magnus muttered.
Alec stared down at those stunning green eyes that he loved and his heart gave a lurch. "I love you too. I'll be back later." He kissed him once more and then left.
Little did he know that that would be the last time in a long time that he'd get to kiss Magnus.
He arrived at the party and as soon as he stepped out of the cab he could smell the signature sweet scent of pot in the air. He groaned and was about to get back in the cab when Cody called out his name. He turned around to face his friend, a clear look of disappointment on his face.
"Sup Xander? What's with the sour look?"
"I said I'd come as long as you promised no drugs. I'm trying to stay clean here."
Cody's smile fell as he realized that Alec would leave. "Nah, man, I swear I didn't bring that. Someone else did and as soon as I find them I'll kick them out." He crossed his heart with his finger. "Cross my heart and hope to die."
Alec sighed and looked back at the waiting cab. He gestured for the cabbie to take off and smiled at Cody. "Okay. Come on, let's go have some fun."
"Yeah! That's more like it." Cody clapped him on the back and led him into the house.
Music was blaring from Cody's stereo system downstairs and Alec could hear people laughing above the music. Cody led him down the stairs to the party below. The air was hazy and smelled of cigarettes and weed. Alcohol was sitting on a table in the corner and most of the people had a cup and smoke in hand while they chatted and danced.
Alec breathed in the familiar smells and couldn't help but be intoxicated by the smell alone. It made him long for the taste of tobacco on his tongue and the buzz of booze in his head. Cody grabbed him a cup of something, probably cheep beer.
Yep, cheep beer.
He sipped at the beverage and mingled with people that he hadn't seen since before his incident. It felt good to let loose and have fun for once. He felt like these past few months have been nothing but stress and putting up the pretense of being "good". He was tired.
Okay, here's the drug use. If you don't want to read it please skip down to the next bold lettering like this.
He welcomed the buzz of alcohol and when someone offered him a joint he didn't turn them down.
He exhaled the smoke and felt himself be lifted gently into oblivion.
He drank, talked, smoked, laughed, and had a great time. By the time the serious drugs were being passed around he was so wasted and high that he joined right in without hesitation.
He fumbled with the cocaine as he measured it out and put it on the spoon to cook up. Cody had to help him actually cook it up, his brain was that fuzzy. The tourniquet was tied, the needle loaded, and his arm poked.
Oh sweet Jesus, how he missed this feeling. He was flying and falling at the same time. Nothing made sense but everything did. He was wasted, yet sober. He wanted to cry and also jump around for joy!
The world around him faded away and he enjoyed his high. And, oh god, was he so high.
End of drug use, read on.
Eventually he sobered up enough to catch a cab back to Magnus's flat.
He fumbled with the key, cursing several times, before he managed to open the door and stumble inside. He cursed under his breath when he was louder than he intended. He shut the door behind him as quietly as he could manage and looked into the darkness for any sign of life.
Nothing stirred as his eyes adjusted to the darkness. He stumbled forward until he collided with the couch. He felt his way around and crash landed on the soft cushions. He didn't fight the sleep that was tearing at his eyelids.
End flashback
"Alec! Look at me."
Alec peeked up at his furious boyfriend through the tears.
"You have a choice. One." His hands were on those slim hips and his face stoney with anger. "You either sober up forever and never hang out with those people again, or you get your stuff and leave."
"Magnus, they're my friends. I don't fit into your group of friends, they all think I'm the junkie and they look down on me. These people, they know me, they understand me, they're just like me."
"Alexander, make your choice. You have until midnight to either call him up and say that you can't be with that crowd anymore or have all of your stuff out. The choice is yours." He turned and walked to their-his-room.
Alec looked down at his hands in shock of what happened. His brain still held a hint of the buzz from last night. How did one decide between their addiction and friends or their lover and family?
Dun dun dun! What'd I say? I'm about to break your wee little hearts xD I hope you enjoyed this chapter and I really look forward to writing the next one. Review please, guys! Please. I feel so insignificant when I don't get feedback. :'(
