Gray was headed downstairs when he saw her. Lisanna was as pale as a ghost. Her eyes were wide with horror. 'What happened? Did she find out about Natsu?' Gray thought. "Lisanna congrats. Heard you were preg"- Gray was interrupted. "Gray…" she whimpered, "she was like this when I… I don't know… how… oh god I'm so sorry". She broke down crying. Gray looked at the door behind her.
Juvia's Room
The room in which Gray kept his comatose wife. Gray rushed in. What he was met with was a sight no one could stomach. Hanging from a noose in the middle of the room was the body of the blue headed angel Gray once called his wife. Her limbs crippled. Her eyes gouged out. All the medical equipment was destroyed. The walls displayed a message written in blood.
Now we're even
Jellal. That piece of shit. "Holy fuck" Laxus exclaimed from the door. Gray was shaking. He was furious. "Time of death was about six hours ago. He killed her before he went to visit Natsu's grave" deduced Gray. "Hold on. Look at this, he left a ton of evidence; we can pin this on him" said Laxus. "We can't. You can't commit homicide against a dead person" stated Gray unnerved. "What the fuck do you mean?" asked Laxus, squinting.
"Officially she died three days after she went into the coma. I kept her alive off the books. I was gonna divorce her when she awoke from the coma. If she was dead, I wasn't obliged to give her half my shit. I fucked up. I'm gonna kill that son of a bitch" Gray roared the last few words. "Greedy fucker" whispered Laxus under his breath. Gray kept his head down. He deserved it.
"Hey Gray I think I misheard you… Did you say Natsu's grave?" quirked Lisanna from the doorway with tearful eyes. "I think you misheard him Lis. It's not every day you see a dead body. You must be in shock. Go back to your room" ordered Laxus. "Should I call the police?" she asked. "That won't be necessary" said Loke's voice from the hall. Gray cooled his nerves. Loke had this under control.
"Jesus Fucking Christ" exclaimed Loke as he entered the room. "Get on it. I got somewhere to be" Gray said as Laxus motioned him to follow him outside. "Gray… you better kill him" seethed Loke. "Oh I will" promised Gray. Gray went outside and straight into Laxus's supercar and Laxus started driving.
Laxus stared at the shirtless Gray riding beside him. He had nothing but his pajama pants on. "Need anything else?" Laxus asked him. "Got a gun?" Gray asked back. "Glove compartment" was his reply. Gray reached into the glove compartment to pull out a sleek black silenced M1911. He shoved the handgun into the side of his pajama pants.
The ride to the tower of heaven was a silent one. Laxus didn't want to say anything since he could tell Gray wasn't thinking straight. Maybe he should call the whole thing off. But he knew better. Gray wasn't like other people. He performed best under pressure. If anything, recent events had caused him to become even more focused.
Finally, they reached their destination. Gray got out of the car wordlessly. He was a few feet away from the chain link fence with the huge PRIVATE PROPERTY sign. He ran full sprint towards it. Laxus stared in awe as he performed a perfect somersault over the fence, avoiding the barbed wire. He landed on the dirt on the other side. He rolled into full sprint towards the tower. Not a sound to be heard.
Laxus marveled at Gray's abilities, knowing full well that he was capable of so much more. 'Heh. Couldn't have done it better myself. Stay safe mate' thought Laxus. He drove away.
Gray on the other hand, was having the time of his life, not. To avoid the security cameras, he had taken the ventilation system. Gray swore the vents were made for fucking dwarfs. He could barely move. He wiggled himself on and on. As always with his luck though, things never went his way. He saw an opening and figured that was the main tunnel which connected all the vents.
His guess was correct. But he fucking tripped and went down some other god forsaken vent. Gray swore. He hated his life. He fell 15 feet. His eyes strained from the pain. But it all went away. When he heard her. "Jellal, honey please stop this, this isn't you." Gray followed Erza's voice, confident it would lead him to Jellal.
He crawled forward and peered in through a vent. There he was. Jellal. Standing in the middle of the room. It was like a control room of sorts, loads of computers and buttons, there was a huge empty space in the middle. There were two hooded figures restraining Erza and two armed guards at the door. Gray nearly gasped when he saw Lucy hiding behind one of the computers.
"But it is me, my dear. A better version of me. This world has been screwing me over since the beginning. I don't owe it shit. It even tried to take you from me. But I didn't let that happen, I taught Gray a lesson. This entire city is the problem." ranted Jellal. "Murderer. You killed Juvia and Natsu. How many others?" spat Erza.
"Why this entire city, my love. The tower of heaven isn't some clean energy project. It's a beautiful armed nuclear warhead. It is New York's reckoning. All the people I have killed will be spec of dirt compared to this." Revealed Jellal. Gray's eyes widened. What the fuck…
"Why?" Erza asked. "Well, it's not for me. It belongs to the highest bidder. It's available on the black market. This country's enemies would pay fortunes for piece of art. It has been fully functional since yesterday. After I sold this I was hoping you and I could go away together and live happily ever after." said Jellal gently.
"Get the fuck away from her" yelled Lucy as she emerged from where she was hiding, with a fucking loaded shotgun in hand. "Do you really think you can kill me?" asked Jellal with a hint of annoyance in his voice, "It didn't work out so great for your husband".
BANG
Jellal's brains were all over the floor. His headless body slumped to the ground. "Let me go. He's dead. Your whole plan's over." shouted Erza to the hooded figures. "No… No… no no no… please god no" started Lucy. Erza, Lucy and Gray stared in horror as Jellal's head started healing right in front of their eyes. First the brain inflated to normal size, then the skull reformed around it, followed by muscle and skin, and finally his signature blue hair.
Jellal got back up. "I told you so" he smiled as he pointed a revolver to a crying Lucy's head. Gray remembered, Lucy's words when Laxus remarked about killing him – you can't. And right on que, the vent cover breaks and Gray goes spiraling downwards.
FUCK!
