Ok the last chapter really covered quite a few holes that I wanted to fill. I hope everyone enjoyed it. While I loved the music of "A Katy or a Gaga" there are plenty of things I plan on changing. Don't worry "Starchild" will still be appearing as well as Dani. I'm still not sure where either one fits though. And for those wondering if Finn will be a part of "Pamela Landsbury" sorry the answer is NO. Finn is concentrating on other things but that doesn't mean he won't support things or become a part of the music from time to time. For those anxious to see the nurse, Penny, don't cross your fingers because I booted her character. Instead Sam is going to try to impress a girl from Glee club and it's not Mercedes. Rachel also has yet to tell her director about the baby and that's going to be a source of a little friction for her and Finn in this chapter. Enjoy and if there is something you'd like to see let me know in the reviews, you never know when I might throw someone into the mix. I am going to change the writing around a bit, I will still give some details on what we saw on screen but I probably won't type all of it out, too hard to get all of the dialogue in so what you'll be seeing is a synopsis of what happened on screen and then what I am typing in will be my additions to the plot.
At McKinley Will has just informed the Glee club of their main competition for Nationals, Throat Explosion, and given them some background on the group. Everyone is pretty freaked out by the competition and Will has given them the "Katy or Gaga" assignment. So the "Gaga's" have to perform a Katy song and the "Katy's" have to perform a Gaga song. (Author's note: Sugar was not seen in this episode but in my version she is a Gaga.)
Sam and Blaine after Glee
"So we're both Katy's, that's cool right?" Sam asked Blaine.
"Yeah but I have no idea how to pull off a Gaga number. I may have to call Kurt on this one. He's definitely a Gaga." Blaine said
"Yeah I was surprised to see that Sugar is a Gaga." Sam said
"Well I guess you never know-wait a second are you suddenly into Sugar?" Blaine asked
"Well you know a guy has to have options. I'm beginning to feel like the only member of the club without a partner." Sam said
"Well then I guess Sugar is an option." Blaine said, still kind of confused.
Meanwhile in NY Kurt is auditioning for his cover band. The only person who comes to audition is "Starchild" who gives an amazing performance of "Marry the Night" but Kurt doesn't think that Starchild is right and sends him away. Later on they discuss it at the apartment. Rachel convinces Kurt to give Starchild another shot.
"Rachel you just named the band, now you HAVE to be a part of it." Kurt insisted
"Kurt I am pregnant and I haven't told my director yet, I'm planning a wedding and still going to school all while preparing for my first role on broadway. I can't possibly." Rachel said
"What's that about haven't told your director yet?" Finn asked concerned
"Well I tried today but they were insistent on going over 'My Man' over and over again. I love the song but I'm exhausted. And don't worry I will tell him sooner or later." Rachel said.
"Rachel eventually he's going to find out and wouldn't you rather he find out before you start showing?" Santana said
"I know but I don't want to lose this role." Rachel pouted
"Rachel we already discussed this, the play doesn't even have a start date yet, they aren't predicting it to open until after the new year. Plenty of time after the baby comes." Finn said
"Finn I am trying-" Rachel said
"No you're not. You're hiding the baby and eventually things are going to get out of hand. It's better to tell the director now." Finn said
"But what if they cut me?" Rachel said miserably
"Then you will get another chance to play Fanny or get an even better, bigger role." Finn insisted
By this time Kurt and Santana had snuck out to give Finn and Rachel more privacy.
"I don't get it Rachel, I thought you were happy about the baby and everything but now I'm wondering." Finn continued.
"No, Finn it isn't like that. I love our baby and I love you. This is all just so new to me." Rachel sobbed.
"Ok then, tomorrow I'm going with you and you're going to tell Campion about the baby." Finn insisted.
"Ok, maybe having you there will help my case." Rachel said
So that's exactly what they did. The next morning Finn skipped his classes and went to the theater with Rachel.
"Mr Campion, I need to talk to you for a moment." Rachel said approaching the director with Finn
"Ahhh Rachel there you are. Do you think you can run through 'Don't Rain On My Parade' today?" Mr Campion asked
"Well of course, it's kind of my signature number, I've been working on it all my life." Rachel said
Finn nudged Rachel to get her on track.
"But there is something I need to discuss with you. I sort of need to know when we expect to start performances." Rachel still wasn't letting on what she was about to tell the director.
"Well the producers are still raising funds of course and that can take time. They are pushing for a November preview of the show with an opening of January 2014 right now. But of course these things are never set in stone. I really doubt we will be ready for a preview by November, I'm thinking more of a preview in January and an opening in February. That's what I've suggested at least." Mr Campion said.
"That's reassuring because, well something personal has come up. You see Finn and I, well we are expecting a baby in late September. I know it's sudden and it could mean that I get cut from the show-" Rachel said
"Mr Campion, Rachel is committed to this show and she is going to do everything she can to play it to perfection. She knows all of the musical numbers and has run through the lines a million times. She is the best Fanny you're going to get." Finn put in.
"Well I can't say that this was expected, but obviously neither was this pregnancy I take it?" Mr Campion said
"Well it wasn't planned if that's what you mean but we're overjoyed." Rachel said
"Well the first problem is that the first press releases are going to come out in May. I can't have an unmarried and pregnant actress for Fanny. It doesn't make for good publicity. So I would suggest that you two get that taken care of before the press releases come out, it will look better if at least you are married and we can assure the press that your baby will come before our previews. We'll need to take your measurements now so that costumes can be fit. Adjustments can be made of course if need be. And of course you will have to be in top form for the show which will mean a lot of work for you Rachel. Are you up to all of that?" Mr Campion asked
"Y-Yes of course." Rachel stammered
"And will you be using Berry for your stage name or going with Finn's name? I'll need to know for the press releases. And of course for the bio I will need some information on Finn here, nothing too personal just what you do and whatnot." Mr Campion said.
"Actually I already prepared all of that." Rachel said and handed him a printed sheet
Mr Campion read it aloud "Rachel Barbara Berry-Hudson was born in Lima, Ohio. She has been performing since she was young and has always aspired to portray Fanny Brice in Funny Girl. In her sophomore year of high school she led her school Glee Club to a victory at their sectionals competition by blowing the judges away with her performance of 'Don't Rain On My Parade' which she had been preparing for years. The same Glee club was the national champion in 2012. After graduation from McKinley high school Rachel went on to NYADA to study musical theater. She resides in New York City with her husband Finn Christopher Hudson who is a music education major at Bank Street College of Education."
"Well? Is it ok?" Rachel asked
"It's wonderful. So I take it you'd like to be billed as Rachel Berry-Hudson?" Mr Campion asked
"Yes, while I am an independent woman I want my husband included because he is a part of all this. I couldn't do this show without him." Rachel said smiling at Finn.
"Ok then, now can we go over the number?" Mr Campion asked.
"Yes of course!" Rachel beamed.
Finn stayed and watched her go through the number. He loved watching her do this song.
The next day at McKinley the "Katy's" are preparing their "Gaga" number. Sam takes the number over hoping to impress Sugar with the performance. Meanwhile Jake is frustrated with his relationship with Marley and in true Puckerman style starts showing an interest in Bree while helping her with a Cheerios number. Sam, Ryder, Blaine, and Artie end up doing "Wide Awake" without Marley because she refuses to wear the costume. Will is disappointed in the group and gives Marley a one week suspension from Glee for not following the assignment. But turns out Sugar is impressed.
"That was great!" Sugar said to Sam.
"Well thank you little lady." Sam did his "western" voice
"I really like your impressions." Sugar said
"So maybe you would like to hear more of them at dinner tonight at breadstix?" Sam countered
"Pick me up at 7!" Sugar said as she hurried off
"You sure about that?" Blaine asks Sam
"Dude I'm not sure of anything anymore." Sam says

Meanwhile in New York Kurt is trying to track down Starchild with Santana and is successful. Rachel and Finn come in from her rehearsal.
"So did you find him?" Rachel asks
"Did you tell your director?" Kurt counters
"Yes and he was fairly understanding about everything. Although it means I have to do my costume measurements now and all of my fittings will have to be done right before previews. I am really going to have to watch the weight I put on." Rachel said flopping onto the sofa.
"You want some tea?" Santana suggests
"That would be wonderful Santana. The lemon stuff I like with honey?" Rachel asks
"I know, coming right up." Santana rolls her eyes. Normally she wouldn't do stuff like this but she can tell that Rachel is feeling the strain.
"Ok Rachel are we still doing pink bridesmaid gowns? Because I found this amazing cake with fondant dogwood flowers making their way up the tiers and since they have pink accents I wanted to make sure." Kurt says.
"Yes but we absolutely cannot have any delays and this has to be kept quiet. The director does not want it to be public knowledge that we just got married so we are doing this as quietly as possible. No Lima news or anything like that. Finn and I still have our license from last year and I had my dads check and apparently they are good for one year so we just have to make sure we get married before Nationals." Rachel said.
"Whoa diva alert. You really are covering all the bases for this aren't you?" Kurt asked
"This way works, it will work." Rachel said.
"Ok you two, enough. We have a few weeks Rachel it will all work out." Santana said coming in with the tea.
The next day at McKinley it's time for the Gaga's to perform their Katy number. So Jake, Unique, Kitty, Tina and Sugar perform "Wide Awake." It's kind of strange to see them in Katy costumes but the number turns out ok. But when Jake convinces Marley to dress as Katy for him and wants to take things farther than she is ready to he ends up needing a cold shower but instead pulls a Puckerman and scratches his itch with Bree instead. Bree goes to Sue about the Katy and Gaga assignment and Sue confronts Will and the Glee kids telling them all that they are in violation of the school dress code (as if the Cheerios haven't been more than once) and suspends the Glee Club for an entire week. But it doesn't stop Will from taking the kids to the auditorium to perform "Roar." Just so happens at that same time Pamela Landsbury is also performing that number in NY at the apartment while Finn watches.
"You sure you don't want to sing sometime too Finn?" Kurt says
"That's ok Kurt, I think I'll just keep watching for now." Finn says
"This coming from a guy who dressed up as Lady Gaga to save me from the cretins." Kurt scoffed.
"That sounds like an interesting story actually!" Dani chimes in.
"Oh it was an experience for sure." Rachel says
"No not this story please I beg you!" Finn says
"Ok so it was our sophomore year, and our glee club assignment was 'theatricality'..."Santana launched into the whole story for Dani, Rachel was only half listening because she was remembering it all in her head as she drifted off to sleep with her head on Finn's shoulder.
"Ok great story Santana, look what you did, you put Rachel to sleep!" Kurt exclaimed when she was done.
"No it's not that. She worked really hard today running through 'Don't Rain on my Parade' you know how she gets when she's focused. I had to remind her to eat and go and get her food and since she's vegan it was not easy to find something for her." Finn said quietly.
"Which reminds me of two other great stories." Santana said.
"Well you can tell Dani the stories, Kurt make sure you stay in here and protect the innocent ok? I'm going to carry Rachel to bed." Finn said and gently lifted Rachel from the couch and carried her off to bed. She didn't even stir. Finn decided it was time for him to go to bed too but out in the living room the stories were still going.
"Ok so it was our sophomore year and Rachel was dating this loser Jesse St James but I liked to call him Jesse St Loser. He came to McKinley for awhile, turns out it was all a plot by Rachel's mom to reveal herself to Rachel. And of course he left and re-joined his old club, Vocal Adrenaline. But he came back with them to egg Rachel. At the time Rachel and I weren't even friends but I was so furious when I saw her dripping eggs from her head. I mean I was supposed to be the only one who could pick on Rachel!" Santana laughed
"Ok going to bed before Rachel wakes up and I need earplugs." Kurt said and went off to bed.
"Are they really that noisy?" Dani asked
"No. Kurt is just what we call an 'alpha' gay. He loves his brother and all but he doesn't want to hear that." Santana said
"Rachel is really nice, it's hard to imagine her ever getting on your nerves." Dani said
"Well it took awhile for me to realize that Rachel was one of a kind. I think it was by our senior year that I decided that I really did value her presence in my life. And when I decided to move to New York this loft was the first place I went to. Rachel, Kurt, Finn and I are like a family. I mean a messed up family where I slept with one of them but still a family." Santana said
"Ok I don't think I want to know but Kurt or Finn?" Dani asked
"Finn. I took his V card. And later revealed it to Rachel to make her mad. In hindsight not my greatest moments. To me it was just sex and I was in denial about my own sexuality." Santana explained.
"Earlier Finn said something about you being the reason he's here, it wasn't that was it?" Dani asked.
"Oh HELL NO. Rachel was dating some donkey faced dancer from school. When I got here I found loads of cash in his stuff-he was living here too-and I just didn't trust him. So I figured out what he was up to. Scumbag was a male escort. I was pissed but I decided that rather than taking him on myself I would call Finn." Santana said going into the memory of her call to Finn
"Santana I am really busy, what is it?" Finn said into the phone
"Oh no Frankenteen, you are just going to have to get un-busy because I just found out the goods on one Brody-or as I like to call him DONKEYFACE-and I know you are going to want to take care of him yourself once I spill the goods." Santana said
"Santana I don't want to mess with Rachel's relationship, I already did that by sleeping with her at the wedding." Finn said
"YOU WHAT?" Santana said
"Shut up as if you didn't know. You saw us going upstairs." Finn said and it was at that moment that Santana realized just how big of a predicament Rachel had been in with that pregnancy test.
"Ok well I might have guessed but I forgot. So anyhow this is not something that I can handle on my own. Donkeyface is a call-boy. He has sex with women for money and it pisses me off to think of him doing that to Rachel." Santana spit out
"WHAT?! I'LL KILL HIM MYSELF!" Finn was now furious.
"Ok Finn calm down. I don't want you to KILL him, I just want you to scare the crap out of him to get rid of him. Do you think you can do that for me?" Santana asked. She rarely used Finn's name and preferred nicknames but in this case she thought it better to call him by name.
"Just set it up. Figure out how to corner him and I will be there. Send me a text with the details." Finn said, still furious.
"Santana...earth to Santana?" Dani said
"What-oh sorry I was just deep in thought. I was remembering calling Finn to tell him what was going on here." Santana said.
"Well they all seem great to me. But I think it's time I got going. As much as I'd like to stay I remember we said something about taking this slow." Dani said before leaning over and kissing Santana.
"Yes. Slow. But not too slow. We are going to have to explore this more soon." Santana winked.
