Chapter 10: Find Your Love

Natsu's POV:

I sighed. I still haven't figured out what Cana meant when she wrote that note. I mean, yeah, I get the dance part, but the misery? How is she supposed to know that...? I only told my my current family, which is only Mira, Elfman, and Lisanna; no one more or less. Scratching my head, I stared down at the floor.

"What's wrong, Natsu?" Lucy came over to me, we were supposed to help clean up. I shook my head in response.

"Nothing's wrong." I stammered, my train of thought immediately disappearing.

"Hmm.." She pouted. "Alright. Now get up, we need to clean." She grinned then took out her hand. "Come on, now." I held her hand, and helped clean the place up.

We walked home together once again, trekking along the same route that we always did. Holding her right hand, I held it tight, making sure to keep her safe. She didn't know it, but I talked to her dad about dating her, and he wasn't that angry! I thought her would scream at me like he did to Dan, Lucy told me; however, he didn't.

I grinned at that thought. But he said I better not be rebellious like Dan, and I swore that I won't, y'know, unless it's necessary. If I would need to beat up someone for Lucy, then I would, obviously.

"Hey, Natsu?" Lucy spoke, and I felt an urge of being surprised as she talked. I let out a sigh, but then peered over to her. Her face was tucked under her scarf, giving me the thought of her being cold. "Oh.. Never mind." She said, as her opinion was quickly changed.

I chuckled. I assumed she wanted something, so I took off my jacket and surrounded her shoulders with it. Her eyes widened, but then squinted down, giving me a light expression. It was as if we were together, but at the same time, just really close friends.

Honestly, this strong connection came out of no where, but I'm glad at the outcome. We're close, even attached enough to hold hands. We walk together everyday after school, and I sometimes give her my jacket, like our current situation. I thought we'd never get together, so I'm just happy with our relationship now. Close friends, that's all.

"Lucy," I began, as I watched her look towards my way. "Can I give you a nickname? I mean, I like your name, but I just wanna be different from everyone else; except for Levy, 'cause she calls you Lu-chan." I became flushed soon after I said that, realizing that I would be the only male to address her as something diverse from others, only if she agrees, that is.

"Hmm," She had a skeptical expression splattered all over her face, but it soon turned into a much more jubilant one. "Of course!" She smiled, "Depends on what it is, though." Lucy warned, tapping my head lightly.

I nodded, "I already know the name I would call you. Luce!" I grinned happily, as she had a bit of an agreeing face. She smiled once again, but this time with much more positiveness.

"Alright, that's perfect." Our hands clasped together again as we once again began to strut towards her house. What seemed like only minutes together came to a close, as I sadly sent her off. We were already at her house, and she was already beginning to stroll in. "Thanks, Natsu, for walking me again." She took off my jacket, then handed it to me. "Take it, you'll be cold."

I laughed, "Oh, Luce, I'm never cold!" I grinned, and pat her on her shoulder. "And, no problem, Luce. I'll walk you home everyday if I just get to be with y-" I covered my mouth quickly, realizing my mistake. "U-Uh.." I stammered. "I-I mean, I would walk you everyday if you would want me to." I tried to cover up my wording, while at the same time feeling my face redden up.

She blushed, and looked away. "Uhm.. Yeah, so... See you, I guess...?" She questioned, timidly. I wasn't sure if she was just saying that, or just asking me.

"Wait, young boy!" Lucy's father came out, a wild expression splattered on his face. "I was about to go to bed, but the maid said you arrived. Come in, son! The least I could do for you taking care of my daughter." He stated, and led Lucy and I into his house. "Sit, sit." He pulled out a chair at his dining table for Lucy and I, as he sat down. Dinner was served to us not long after, and we began to dig in.

"Oh, hold on a 'sec, it's my sister." I told Mr. Heartfilia, as I walked into the living room to speak to her. "Hey, Mira, I'm at Lucy's house. I was gonna go home, but then he dad insisted that I come in." I told Mira, as she sighed.

"You could've at least texted me! I was worried." Her tone seemed upset, sighing while she began to speak. "Alright, but only till 10:30. You have to come home right after. You have like half-an-hour, so you'd better hurry up. Kay, bye, Natsu." I heard the dial tone beep, then turn off.

I took a glance towards the time on my clock, and it was soon to be 10:30, so I obviously rushed to the dining room. "Mr. Heartfilia, my sister said I have to come home in half-an-hour, so I probably have to leave now." I informed him, looking at the clock once again.

"Oh, don't fuss! I'll ready a car for you, there's no need for it." He stated, but soon after, a disrupting thought came to mind.

"Umm..." I looked away. "I have motion-sickness, so I can't really be in a car..." As I finished my sentence, both Lucy and Mr. Heartfilia's eyes were enlarged in shock. I scratched my temples, afraid of their reactions.

Mr. Heartfilia sighed. "I was just trying to get you to stay longer. I certainly would like to know what kind of gentleman would be walking with my daughter everyday. I worry for her sometimes, with what happened to Layla, I don't know what's happening to her." He acted as if Lucy wasn't even present, in the room.

"I'm right here, dad." She looked irritated, and smacked her forehead lightly. I merely laughed, then finished up my dinner.

"Thank you, Mr. Heartfilia, I really appreciate it. You're a kind man." I told him bluntly, not so worried as to his feedback. However, to my surprise, he simply laughed.

"I should be thanking you. You have done well to Lucy. I'm very fond of you, and also your actions. I do hope to see you soon." He bowed his head, then shook his hand. "Bye now, and goodnight." He smiled warmly, then walked up the steps, while Lucy and I strutted outside.

Lucy snickered sparsely. "You gave a good impression on my father. Good job! Not one of my friends could impress his that much. Not even Levy!" I grinned, and stuck my thumb up.

"Of course! That's what Natsu Dragneel does!" I posed both proudly and humbly, but then was off-guard as Lucy pushed me faintly. "Stop it, Luce~" I laughed along with her, as wep playfully pushed each other.

"Alright, alright, it's time for you, mister, to go home." She lectured, as she walked me to her front fence. She opened the gate, but only I was on the outlines. I still could see her face to face, since the fence was only as short as where my waist stops.

"Bye, Natsu. I'll see you at school on Monday." She said, with a tiny bit of annoyance. "Oh, and by the way, I had fun at the dance. It was lively with you there this year." She smiled lovingly.

"Well, I'm glad that you had a good time, Luce." I grinned. "Oh, and we don't necessarily have to not meet up at school..." I whistled innocently.

"Oh? So you want to see me over the weekend?" She chuckled. "Alright, then I'll assume that you're asking me out for a date...?"

"Exactly!" I exclaimed, then I realized what I just said yes to. But I didn't care, I scored a date with Lucy!

She smiled. "Pick me up at 1. Goodnight, Natsu."

I nodded. "Goodnight, Luce." I turned to leave, but then she grabbed the sleeve of my shirt. I glanced back, to only find Lucy with an uneasy expression on her face.

"I might regret this, but here it goes!" She stated, confidently, then kissed me on the cheek. "That was for tonight. I really had lots of fun tonight."

I nodded as quick as I could, then ran off. I ran in my dressed apparel, and it was quite a hard job to fulfill. As I sped along, I felt my cheek. I could remember her warm, soft, pink lips against my cheek, lasting for only a moment. Now, I had her scent on me, and I felt kindled from her sweetness. I can't help but wait til I have her.

I want her now.
