Barry looked up above him to see Kara landing. "There's a water tank explosion up there and I don't know what the heck to do!"

"Oh, great," Kara moaned. "Neither do I."

"Cisco!" Barry said, turning on his earpiece. "How do I stop a water tank explosion?"

"Um, dude, I have no idea!" replied Cisco back at STAR LABS.

"CISCO! I thought you were, like a genius!"

"A genius, not a plumber!"

"Okay, okay, is there anything you can do to help?"

"Umm, how many people are in the building next to it?"

"It's a high-rise office building! A WHOLE LOT!" cried, Barry. "You are not helping! Come ON!"

"Well, technically, it's a two-person job. Someone has to stop the water, and someone has to get all the people away, plus stop the flood."

"I'll stop the water, I can freeze it with my breath." Kara chimed in.

"Ew, your breath is so bad it can freeze water?"

"Shut up!" Kara punched him playfully. "Oh, right, sorry."

"You make NO SENSE! What are you gonna do, hurl the frozen water into space?"

"Not before I hurl YOU into space."

"Guys!" yelled Caitlin "Less talking, more saving!"

Barry rushed over to the people. He started whooshing them away from the tank, one by one. Once they were all no longer in close proximity, Kara froze the water with her freeze breath and hurled it into space. All the people near them broke out into applause.

Barry rushed away, slightly flustered. Kara quickly followed in the air.

When Barry got to STAR LABS, he saw Cisco and Caitlin practically glued to the computer. "What's going on, here?" he asked as Kara arrived.

Cisco jumped up, catching Barry by surprise. "I figured out how to beat Death Girl!" he said enthusiastically. "We use Barry as bait!"

"NO.," said Kara and Caitlin at the same time.

"He could create a speed mirage, make it look like there's a bunch of him. DG will be so confused, she'll start trying to touch all of his mirages. While she's distracted, Kara can punch her. BAM! We just have to hope she doesn't touch the ACTUAL Barry."

"That could work…" said Barry.

"Are you kidding?" screamed Kara. "Are we CONSIDERING this? We're putting Barry's life on the line here! How many of him will there be?"

"Five," said Cisco.

"FIVE?!" cried Kara, biting her lip. "THAT'S A ONE IN FIVE CHANCE THAT BARRY'S GOING TO DIE! THERE'S NO RESET BUTTON! HE CAN'T TRAVEL THROUGH TIME WHEN HE'S DEAD!"

"Kara. Relax. I'll be fine."

"Fine? FINE? YOU'RE NOT FINE WHEN YOU'RE DEAD OR SERIOUSLY INJURED! I DON'T CONSIDER THAT FINE!"

"Kara, what's gonna happen that's bad?"

"Oh, um, just maybe SHE TOUCHES YOU AND YOU DIE!"

"Kara, seriously, I'm not going to die, okay? Maybe she'll touch YOU... HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT YOU, KARA? YOU MIGHT DIE AS WELL.!"

"I'm not the fish bait! You're definitely gonna die if she touches you! I was ok when she touched me!"
"First of all, her hand brushed you. And second, I have cheated death a MILLION times."

"Oh yeah, name one!"

"That one time with the poison gas!" said Cisco.

"When Hartly tried to shred your organs apart!" said Caitlin.

"See? I'll be FINE!"

"Just because you cheated death those times doesn't mean you will this time!"

"Barry," said Kara gently, putting her firm Kryptonian hand on his shoulder, "You can't risk your life like this. Sacrifice me, then. Barry, you have too much to live for."

"SO DO YOU. COME ON KARA," said Barry with a sigh, "we'll discuss this later" Barry sped away.

"Ugh," groaned Kara, and followed him out the door.

Kara followed Barry out the door. "Why are we arguing about this anyway?" She threw down her hands in defeat.

"Well, because you have a problem with me risking my life. We're heroes, Kara. It's what we do." Barry sighed.

Kara felt so angry and confused. Why was she feeling this way about Barry? The thought of losing him was too much for her to handle. Tears started spilling out of her crystal blue eyes. "It's just...I lost everything. My planet freaking exploded, everything that I had known for 13 years was replaced by a strange new world that didn't accept me. Even after I came out as Supergirl. Nobody understood what it was like...Until I met you. You had suffered a tragedy as great as my own, you risked your life every day to help people," A faint smile appeared on Kara's tear stained face as she turned towards Barry. "You are this brilliant hero that I love and respect so much. You taught me so much, I don't know what would happen if I lost you."

Barry pulled Kara towards him, wrapping her in a hug. "Hey, Kara. Listen. You are one of the strongest people I've ever met, even without your powers. You care so much about people and do whatever you can for the good of humanity. Your endless compassion...and love...for everybody is..is astonishing. You're like a light, that shines over a growing darkness." He stroked Kara's trembling arm.

"We both lost our worlds, and now we're trying to give back because of it," Kara said softly. "Just… thank you, Barry. For being such a great friend...always."

"Anything for you," Barry paused before saying"...KarKar"

Kara gave him a look of utter irritation, but she didn't really mind the nickname anymore. Kara retreated from the hug. She was about to turn away when he stopped her.

"What was the personal question you were going to ask me before our date was rudely interrupted?" Barry asked her.

Kara turned back around. "Oh, yeah. Right. Well, first of all, it was not a date," She lowered her eyes to the ground before saying, "...What was your mom like?"

Barry seemed shocked. He lowered his gaze uncomfortably.

"Should I have not asked?" said Kara.

"No, it's fine. I don't remember so much about her. She was kind, but she worried a lot. Especially about me. I was more on the shy side when I was a kid, and she worried about my social life, that I didn't have enough friends. The night that she died, I had just gotten into a fight with some bullies." He paused, and Kara motioned him to continue. "I heard noises downstairs, so I ran down. I still remember what I saw. I was like a whirl of red lightning around her. The man in the lightning stabbed her in the heart and then ran me out of the house." he stopped and looked down again. "I still remember her scream." He stared at the ground and shook his head.

"Barry, that's horrible," Kara looked into his sad green eyes for a second before looking at the ground. "...do you think that you'll ever love somebody as much as you loved her?"

There was a moment of awkward silence. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry, that was one step too far, I shouldn't have asked that it's not my business, sorry." Kara backed up until she could turn away from his startled expression. She flew to the park and sat by the calm clear river, glistening in the moonlight. The beauty of this world still amazed her and always would. That was one thing that she'd always hold onto, no matter what happened in life.
