Hi everyone, due to heavy constraints on my time, the next couple of chapters will be pretty small, but should be updated a bit more regularly, sort of short snappy updates. As always, J. owns Harry Potter, and I do not.
The sound of his footstep reverberated around the room as Jay wandered into the red room, Zhang close behind. "There's no traps Zhang. What's going on?" Jay glanced around the room in confusion as Zhang headed further into the room, noticing the large ring-shaped grooves radiating from the room's centre. He inclined his head to highlight them for Jay. Jay stooped and drew the tip of his finger through the thin layer of viscous liquid that pooled within the grooves. He took an experimental taste and spat it out immediately. "Salamander blood. Burns like the Devil with his arse on fire, this does." Zhang raised an eyebrow at his companion's less than apt metaphor, before assuming a more contemplative look. "If this room symbolises fire, and the floor is covered in a flammable liquid…" The two men looked at each other before the outer ring exploded into a wall of flames, blocking the exit. "Aguamenti!" Both wizards pulled out their wands and shot thick streams of rushing water towards the blaze, to no avail. "Told you that stuff burns like hell." Jay quipped after lowering his wand. The next ring burst into flames, further constricting the circle.."Well, do you have any more wise ideas, oh great sage?" Zhang growled back at Jay, who nodded slowly and replied "I think I might."
"That's stupid and dangerous." Zhang crossed his arms and stared at Jay dismissively. Jay shrugged and replied with a cheeky grin "You sound just like my last ex. Now shut up Zhang, and hold your breath." Jay pulled out his wand, pointed it at the rings closest to the towering inferno, and cried "Incendio." Smokeless flames began to ignite along the rings, battling the existing blaze for precious air. As the flames began to die out, the door at the end of the room sprang open. "How did you know that we wouldn't suffocate before the two fires had burnt each other out?" Zhang turned to as Jay as they walked towards the door. "I didn't." Jay shrugged nonchalantly as he pointed at the symbol above the door. "What element's that then?" Zhang shook his head, pressing his fingertips to his forehead and replying "I really need to teach you how to speak Chinese. The next room is water."
