La Reina was nervous, she was told that Triple H wanted to see her and her heart sank. Today was the day her dream of becoming The Diva's Champion was coming to an end. She knew this with how she butted heads with David from the Creative Department and Mrs. Helmsley. She understood that wrestling was about entertaining the crowds but why did that mean the Divas had to wear little to nothing? Wouldn't the crowds be more entertained to see Divas battling it out, instead of some stupid cat fight with screaming and slapping? She knew she was being unrealistic and was willing to compromise but not to the point of showing her ass off to the world because at the end of the day she still had go home and face her parents. Especially, her father and she never wanted to embarrass him or her family. It hurt that Mrs. Helmsley was not the one to tell her, she was being released from her contract and in a foreign country that she would have to hear it from her husband. But oh well, she saw it coming and could walk a way knowing she did her best that she had come this far in the 5 1/2 years since she had left home.
If she was going to be released from her contract on foreign soil, she would take it like a lady. She would not rant or rave but simply thank Mr. Helmsley for the opportunity of being part of the WWE. La Reina smoothed her dress down and inhaled deeply and then exhaled. She then knocked on Triple H's office door.
"Come in."
La Reina entered his office and closed the door softly behind her. She turned to see Hunter with his head down reading some papers on his desk. She approached, with each step her heart sank, she couldn't believe this was the end of her dream. But she would be strong, she would not let him see her distress, instead she smiled and stood in front of his desk waiting for him to acknowledge her.
Hunter was finalizing the budget for the company's time in Europe, when he heard a knock at the door and then felt the presences standing before him. He looked up and was confused, why this young lady was in his office. As if sensing his confusion, La Reina came closer to his desk and held her hand out to introduce herself. "Hello Mr. Helmsley, I am La Reina. I was told you wanted to see me."
Her voice held not a hint of fear but confidence and honey like. His eyes widened in surprise at the woman that stood before him. She was not beautiful like the Bellas (in the traditional sense) nor petite like AJ, but what Rochelle had failed to mention to Hunter was how striking La Reina was. She was the type of woman who would turn heads entering a room because of the confidence and strength she exuded, combined with a calm serenity that seem to surround her, plus her impressive physique. She stood about 5'8, her black pumps probably added another 3 inches to her height. She had an oval shaped face and smooth, flawless, olive colored skin. Her eyes were the darkest of browns he had ever seen almost to the point of being black. They were medium size and spaced evenly apart. Her eyes sparkled with energy, drawing a person to her wanting to know more about her. Her eyebrows were thick and brown and arched low above her eyes and thinned out at the tips. Her downward turned medium nose, led you to her full kissable lips. Her top lip dipped a little at the center giving it a heart shaped look, especially with the shade of pink lipstick that covered them. Her make-up consisted of earth tone colors giving her a natural fresh look.
Her thick brunette hair was pulled back in a French braid that seemed to end in the middle of her back. Her black sleeveless dress showed off her chiseled muscled arms. Muscles that were not bugling but showed her strength, while still maintaining her femininity. The upper part of her black dress consisted of 8 stripes that wrapped around her body, 4 were solid and the other 4 were made of a sheer material, teasing an onlooker with a fuzzy view of her flesh. One stripe covered her narrow shoulders another revealed her upper chest, while another covered her lower chest. The next stripe revealed the beginning of her cleavage, while other wide stripe covered her full breast. The last 3 stripes centered on her midriff one solid stripe covered the center of her midriff while the one above and below revealed her defined six pack. The skirt portion of her dress was solid and ended just above her knees, followed by her long strong legs. She was alluring and sultry without cheapening herself.
La Reina stood patiently waiting for Hunter's scrutiny of her appearance to be over. She was use to this by now because unlike male wrestlers, female wrestlers were judged more by their appearance then their ability. This alone should have discouraged her long ago about pursuing a career in the WWE, but all she could remember where her idols Lita and Trish Stratus. It made her excited about one day following in their footsteps to become the Diva's Champion but it was all coming to an end, she thought as lowered her out stretched hand to her side.
Hunter cleared his throat a little embarrassed at gawking at the young lady. "Please have a seat."
La Reina took the seat Hunter motioned for her to sit down on, she crossed her legs and rested her hands in her lap as she waited to hear her faith.
"So how long have you been with the WWE?", Hunter asked curiously.
La Reina was surprised by this question, what game was Hunter playing? She simply decided to play along for now. "I have been with the WWE for 5 months now, Mr. Helmsley."
"Please call me Hunter. How old are you?"
"I am 23, I will be 24 in December."
"Where are you from?"
"Los Angeles, California."
"And how long have you been wrestling?"
"Well, I decided I want to be a wrestler when I was 14 and turned pro when I was 18, so about 9 years now."
"Who did you train under?"
"Santiago Valles, he had a wrestling school not far from my family's restaurant." La Reina could not understand why he was prolonging the inedible. Why was he asking all these questions?
"Your family owns a restaurant?"
"It was how my parents were able to support such a large family."
"How big is your family?"
"4 brothers and 2 sisters. I am the 2nd youngest."
"What made you decide to be a wrestler?" So far Hunter liked what he saw and what she had to say.
"Excuse me Mr.- I mean Hunter, I don't understand the point of these questions? If you are going to release from my contract then I prefer you do it now and not play these games.", she sat there calmly as she spoke.
Hunter was impressed by her demeanor, she handled herself like a lady. "I see there is a misunderstanding here. I did not call you to my office to release you from your contract, but to extend it."
"I see and what is expected of me?", she asked cautiously but inside she was jumping up and down. She could not believe she was being given a chance.
Hunter was starting to like her a lot, she was not gullible. "I want you to be a valet."
"A valet.", she could feel her heart sinking again. A valet was getting her further from her goal of being the Diva's Champion. "Who for?", but she was still curious to know.
Hunter could see her less than enthusiastic response. "For Dean Ambrose."
"I saw how he treated Noble and Mercury earlier. Why would he want me?"
"He doesn't but if you want a career here in the WWE, you need to make it work with him."
"I don't understand Hunter. If he doesn't want a valet, then why are you forcing one on him?"
"Because he doesn't know how this business fully works. He needs a gimmick, a partner that will help raise his game to the next level, like I did."
"Like Chyna did for you?"
"Exactly"
"But Chyna did not do much after you. Her career kinda went stale after that."
"But think of Lita and what she did for the Hardy Boyz. Also, Trish Stratus and what she did for T&A. But most importantly, how they had successful careers afterwards. La Reina, all I can do is put the opportunity before you, but it is up to you what you do with it."
"If I elevate his career like you feel I can, then I want something in return.", La Reina said in a smooth but determined tone. She had to control her emotions and show no fear or excitement or he would use it against her, he was The Game after all and this was probably her last chance, it was all or nothing.
"Oh really", Hunter arched his brow at her boldness. "You should be grateful that I am giving you this opportunity.", he said with annoyance.
"An opportunity to fall flat on my face, especially if I can't convince Ambrose to accept me. I am the one that has a lot to lose here, you will release me from my contract and I will be left with nothing.", La Reina said calmly trying not to lose her nerve especially with the harsh look Hunter was giving her. She could feel herself trembling but she had to control it, particularly her voice.
"I can release you from your contract now.", Hunter said sternly, raising his voice an octane and standing to his feet.
La Reina also stood to face Hunter. Inwardly fearing she was pushing to hard but then she heard her father's voice "you never get anywhere playing it safe" and with that she responded to Hunter. "Yes, you could but you are The Game. You mostly likely considered the other Divas already but found them lacking. If you truly wanted to elevate Dean's career and had another choice, you would have chosen a Diva that is already established instead of unknown."
Hunter looked at La Reina, he had underestimated her. She was a hellva lot more cunning than he would have ever except someone her age to be. He admired her coolness and poise as she stood firm and determined to reach her goals. Suddenly, Hunter laughed out loud, he couldn't believe her audacity and how she was challenging him. HIM The Game, he could tell that she understood what she clearly had to lose but there was no fear or arrogance in her eyes only a strong will and resolve to succeed and for that reason he relented. "And what is it that you want?", Hunter asked.
"I want a shot at the Diva's Championship Belt.", she said evenly.
"Make it work with Dean and you will get your shot."
"If I agree to this, I am not prepared to show off my body and strut around in lingerie."
"I don't expect you to, you are perfect just the way you are."
La Reina gave Hunter a genuine smile, the first since they had begun their little tug a war. "Then I agree."
Hunter held his hand out and they shook on it. As she turned to leave and opened the door, she looked back at Hunter one more time and said, "By the way, I would like to have it in writing."
Hunter gave her a lopsided grin, "Of course." He was liking her more and more by the minute, she was not a push over. "La Reina"
"Yes"
"I don't want him to know until we are back in the States."
"Yes, Hunter"
Once out in the hallway, she leaned against the closed door of Hunter's office. The pent up feelings were finally being released, her entire body was trembling with a mixture of emotions: fear, relieve, panic but most importantly happiness. She could not believe she had secured a title match. Her smile beamed from ear to ear. She hugged herself and walked toward the elevators. Her only hurdle was going to be Dean Ambrose and how she was going to get him to cooperate with her. She didn't have the answer at the moment but she had a week to come up with something.
