Thanksgiving
"Emily do you plan on coming downstairs with the rest of the family or being cooped up in here on your phone all day?" Her mom inquires in the middle of the doorway. "Yea, I'll be down in a couple of minutes" she replies sitting up in bed not taking her eyes off her phone.
"Hey mom, don't forget I have a friend coming over "Emily says before her mom left the room. "Yes sweetie I didn't forget, that's why you need to come down to help your auntie and me, she replies before closing her daughter's door."
It's Thanksgiving Day at The Fields home, Emily's aunt, and her children have come to celebrate the holiday. Emily has been in her room majority of the day texting her girlfriend Maya.
The living room consists of, Katie, Jacob and Jonathon, Emily's three cousins who are glued to the television watching The Cartoon Network.
"Look who has come down from her room" her aunt Cari announces sitting by the kitchen table drinking a cup of coffee. "The food smells delicious, is everything almost done?" Emily asks hovering over the stove.
"Majority of everything is ready, besides the chocolate cake. Are you going to bake the cake this time sweetie?" Pam asks her daughter. "Of course I am, is everything set out" she replies placing her cell on the kitchen counter.
At the St. Germain's home, laughter fills the first floor where majority of the family are vested in. Thanksgiving dinner was served by 5:00; everyone has eaten more than once including taking leftovers to go. The women of the family are cleaning the kitchen, while the men are enjoying the Thanksgiving NFL football game between the San Francisco 49'ers and San Diego Chargers.
Maya decided to spend some time with her family for the holiday before going over to Emily's house. In the basement sits Maya, her brother Quincy, and a couple of her cousins. The big screen television displays NBA2k which is being played by Quincy and Antonio one of Maya's cousins. She sends Emily a text to let her know she is on her way.
Emily is in the kitchen putting the last touches on the chocolate cake. "The cake looks delicious Emily, I can't wait to eat a slice", Cari says fixing a glass of red wine for her and Pam.
"Yea it looks great, can't wait to eat some myself" Emily replies licking the chocolate icing off the butter knife before putting it in the dishwasher.
"I'll be back down; I'm going upstairs to change clothes. Emily puts on the outfit she spent majority of the morning picking out.
She examines herself in the mirror combing her long flowing locks, feeling very confident and beautiful. Her long legs are covered with black jeggings and a sexy silky leopard print button up. Looking at herself in the mirror she can't help but smile thinking of Maya coming over to spend time with her and her family.
Thinking of Maya, Emily walks over to her bed to grab her phone so she can check in with Maya. Emily being so wrapped up in baking the perfect chocolate cake forgot where she put her phone.
In a frantic pace she speeds over to her dirty clothes bin to check her pajama pants pocket for her phone with no luck. Where did I put my phone wonders to her, so she decided to go downstairs to search.
"Hey have you guys seen my phone?" Emily asks her mom and aunt who are having a conversation the dining room. "Yea I think I heard a funny noise when I was in the kitchen, maybe it was your phone ringing Em," Cari announces. Emily breathes a sigh of relief after finding her phone on the kitchen table.
Noticing she has a few unread text messages, she walks to the bathroom and immediately calls Maya.
"Hey My, sorry I forgot where I last put my phone. Are you on your way?" She asks hearing wind in the background.
"Hey, yea I'm on my way I'll be there in 10 minutes. I was getting a little nervous because you didn't reply back."
"Ok I can't wait to see your beautiful face tonight. Call me when you're outside."
Maya rings the Fields doorbell, waiting for someone to answer hoping that it's Emily. Maya is a little nervous for the first time in a long time about having dinner with her girlfriend's family, unbeknownst to them.
A small smirk is plastered on her face thinking about not just being Emily's friend but her secret girlfriend. The front door creeps open with Emily standing in the middle of the entrance slightly blushing at what she sees in front of her. "Hey come in and meet my family."
Maya steps inside, giving Emily her jacket to hang up. Both girls walk inside the dining room, Emily introduces Maya to her aunt and her mom again.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you Maya, I'm Emily's aunt Cari. You can just call me Cari." "Hi, it's nice to meet you Cari and it's a pleasure to meet you again Mrs. Fields."
Mom we will be in my room until the food is ready. "We are about to heat everything up, give us 15 minutes". "Would you like anything to drink Maya", Pam asks. "No, I'm fine for now thanks anyway."
Emily closes and locks the door to her bedroom. She walks over to Maya, giving her the proper introduction a girlfriend should receive. Starting with a hug, she slides her hands down Maya's abdomen, feeling every inch of her hips and curves.
She places a soft kiss on her lips tasting the luscious lip gloss in the process. She travels down to the nap of Maya' neck, kissing her tenderly and slowly. "Mmm, you smell great by the way" Emily tells her slightly aroused gazing in her eyes causing Maya to blush.
Maya is enjoying every minute of this with no complaints. Although they are still in the beginning stages of their relationship, being with Emily is something Maya hasn't experienced before; she loves all the attention Emily gives her.
"The food is delicious, thanks for inviting me over" Maya says complimenting the family. "How long have you and Emily been friends?" Mrs. Field asks inquiring on Maya's history. Out the blue her daughter is friends with someone she hasn't seen before. Emily never brings home company for the holidays unless its Aria, Spencer or Hanna. "We have been friends for about two years, I just never talked about her before mom" Emily lies to her mom.
Maya doesn't interject, she figures this is something Emily is doing to make it appear that they are just friends.
"She is actually a senior but we have had classes together."
"Oh, a senior. So what colleges have you been looking at? You do plan on attending college right?" Pam asks with a condescending tone, taking a sip of her red wine.
Wiping her mouth, Maya responds, "Actually I do plan on going to college. I just came back from visiting U of I and NIU. My top choice is NIU, so I hope before winter vacation I will hear something."
"That's great Maya." "Good luck on your acceptance" Cari announces observing Emily and Maya. "By the way Emily are you free the upcoming Saturday? I know you teens like to have your personal time but I really need a babysitter for the afternoon while I take care of some personal business."
"I told you Cari you don't have to ask her just bring them by the house. You know we are here to help you" Pam says looking over at her sister.
Emily rolls her eyes at her mother's comments. It's best to ask first she thought to herself. She was hoping to spend the weekend with Maya since winter vacation is starting. She loves her little cousins to death so watching them wouldn't be around. Plus she can have Maya help. "Sure Aunt Cari, that's not a problem. I would love to help you." "Ok thanks Emily that's great."
"Thanks for inviting me over Emily; I enjoyed the food and your family's pleasantness. Your little cousins are adorable by the way", Maya announces sitting in the driver's seat of her automobile."
"What about me?" "Am I adorable as well?" Emily asks making a silly face causing Maya to let out a chuckle.
"Of course you're ten times more than that." "I really don't need to tell you, you know?" Maya replies caressing her girlfriend's hand on the window seal of the car door.
"Why is that?"
"Because the feeling I get inside my stomach every time I lay eyes on you says it all."
"Aww that was sweet Maya" she says blushing. "I wish I can just kiss you right now" Emily states nervously looking back at her house to see if anyone was watching out the window.
"How about I blow you a kiss, instead?" Maya interjects.
"That defeats the purpose." "I'll let you get going, don't want to hold you up. Text me when you get home."
Maya gives Emily a sexy look, slowly bringing her left palm to her lips for a kiss. She clutches her hand into a fist, loosens her perfectly manicured fingers one by one then gently blows a kiss to Emily before driving off.
Emily catches and holds the kiss to her heart watching her babe drive off into the darkness, grinning from ear to ear.
