Well, this is it guys – the end. I got way too inspired by The Fly…and finished this fic on the 11th April 2014 (my time), deciding to stagger the releases so that there was only one a day. Even though I got creeped out, I had no intention to creep you out with chapter 7 or any of it, hence why it never got put in the 'horror' category despite it veering close to being so.
I might think up a oneshot just to tack on the end and boost the reads…
Although it seemed impossible for him to fly at first, eventually he got the hang of it – 'it' specifically being 'flying too high for anyone to spot him from the ground' - and just landed when Ran and Generic came to check on the alien. That's when Shinichi shoved the plastic container in her face and told her to just forget about him.
She put it into Ladrafiefr's hands. "If there's anyone that needs it, it's him. We don't want that guy doing anything dangerous again," she told Shinichi.
"You have to be absolutely silent about everything I've told you," Haibara warned, pointing the fake gun (the one which had the bouquet in it when Conan got shot) at the teenager. One freaked out Ran later, the strawberry blonde pulled the trigger and…nothing came out.

10 years later, the Organisation had mysteriously not shown up for years and Shinichi was known as the 'winged detective' whereas Hakuba got the title of 'detective of the east', much to Heiji's chagrin. Everyone wanted to know exactly how he was able to get the wings in the first place, but he always replied with, "I'm sworn to secrecy about it," even to his best detective pal Heiji.
"Hey, how ya goin'?" yelled Heiji, dropping into the Kudo Detective Agency (which was where the Mouri Detective Agency once was, and Ran still lived there) to try and force it out of him again once more. After hearing about how Kudo had been permanently restored to being his teen self almost eight years ago, the Osakan had visited more often. Eight years ago had also been when Ran had explained to Kazuha that an alien had come out of nowhere and she'd roundhouse-kicked it into submission. Soon after, Kazuha finally got a confession across to Heiji. Despite that, the two had never had a successful date.
Kazuha and Ran were the next to drop by, followed by Haibara (it was after school) holding a lily bouquet. Generic's school life had ended up like his life in the Organisation - even with Ai at his side - so he was now in a cemetery nearby. Ran had a bouquet of black roses with her.
The adults and Haibara chatted the day away, without a clue that nearby, Ladrafiefr was in a maid outfit, cleaning up the Kudo mansion. (Ran had forced him into doing that.)
At nightfall, Heiji and Kazuha left – with still no leads on how Shinichi had gained wings, Shinichi was just that good - and the others paid their respects to Generic. "Thank you for what you did ten years ago, you guys," Shinichi told them in front of Generic's grave, spreading out his wings so that they caught the moonlight. Sliding a rose from Ran's bouquet and placing it lightly on the grave, he finished softly, "Thank you."
Black roses are representative of death and rebirth according to Google. There are some other meanings but they wouldn't work in context.
Now while I think up an idea for that oneshot, go read The Future is Crimson on Courage, a Word of Justice (my tumblr).
Hope you enjoyed Experiment. Hope you didn't complain about the fic being too confusing, either. Please read and review!
