Dinner was deemed normal, Chase noted. Jack still seemed like himself, as he was demanding pudding for dessert. Banana flavoured damn it! Panthers, tigers, lions and cheetahs all shook their heads in amusement.
Chase couldn't wait to see what his new pet and lover could do, as a newfound treasure that he was.
"Spicer, I am very curious. Would you indulge me?" Jack looked up, mouth full with a spoon hanging in between his lips. Jack hummed his consent before swallowing.
"Sure, what's up?" Chase leaned forward, lifting his locked hands to his mouth.
"How would you amplify my power? As the legend goes, the Ruby of Destiny amplifies each side. But how?" Jack shook his head in mock disappointment. Chase rose his eyebrow at the youth.
"Tsk, tsk. So impatient." Jack grinned to show he was merely joking, but then realised what the answer was and started blushing.
"Well, before the old man died... He searched up on phoenixes and firebirds. He noticed that in some mythology, that there is only one phoenix. Well, apparently not." Jack took a sip of his soda can to which Chase had specifically gotten for the genius. Bless his evil cotton socks, Jack snickered at the thought.
"There were others, but because he died before he could find out. It was his daughter. I can't remember her name, but I remember her finding at least four other firebirds. Did you know that, Phoenix tastes a lot like chicken?" Chase raised his eyebrows in surprise, but growled when he realised.
"You are basically saying that you are going extinct." Chase's skin began to bubble slightly showing a few scales. Jack could see that Chase was trying to stay calm. Jack smiled.
"Why do you think we try our damn hardest to stay in human forms? It's like when we first met, you won't remember me as Jack Spicer. You know that alias because of now. The name I used when I first met you was Manchu Xue." Jack grinned as the look of remembrance swiped across the dragon lord's features.
"The gardener?! The one that looked after the Xiaolin Temple? The quiet boy, who learned martial arts from time to time?" Jack burst into fits of giggles. Chase face palmed.
"Seriously?" Jack nodded still giggling.
"I did not realise. I must admit, while your beauty threw for a brief moment; I certainly did not see you as a threat." Jack nodded.
"I will never forget this moment. Oh it's priceless! Anyway, going back onto the topic of power. You see..." Jack blushed. Chase smirked but was patient. This little secret must be a good one.
"Erm... You have me, meaning you now have my loyalty. Which you had anyway, excluding Wuya of course. But also, I don't just give it to you, you have to earn it... "Jack's features continued to get more rosy in colour.
"How...?" Chase pushed gently for an answer. Jack found he couldn't say it.
"The clue is in the riddle. I'm sorry, I just can't say it.." Jack looked down, both disappointed and embarrassed in himself.
"Do not trouble yourself. You have my word, that I will not force anything onto you, Spicer." Jack smiled at the warlord shyly.
Chase took the clue anyway and tried to figure it out.
"Let us ignore the how for now, tell me what will happen once it has been unleashed." Jack smiled as Chase changed the subject.
"Well, firstly, we are one. We are conjoined in power, we share it. As for everything else... I don't know. I have never felt it. It's like yin and yang-"
"Two sides of a coin. Opposites become one. Soul mates." Chase finished for Jack. The genius nodded.
"Exactly. I have yet to meet another phoenix who has been in this situation. But then again... I am the only one of my kind." Chase looked inquisitive.
"You said that you are a phoenix, I have seen a few in my time. What is exactly different between you and common phoenixes?" Jack smiled.
"When my power is forced from me, to enslave me, in order to gain extra strength and magic; I die. Permanently." Jack grinned evilly. Chase growled but still not understanding the genius.
"I don't-"
"And I take my power with me, leaving a curse behind instead. Internal burning and burning everything they touch, for eternity...well until they die naturally themselves...or end it." Chase looked at the genius, a grin slowly settling upon his features.
"Betraying me also will have the same affect." Chase nodded, the grin fading.
"Hence why you had asked me whether or not I would be bored of you." Jack nodded.
"That's right. Don't get me wrong, even if you didn't love me, I would gladly help you. I would gladly give my power you. But that's not how it works, I'm afraid." Chase grinned softly at the genius.
"Do not worry, my little china doll. I will make sure you are cherished and that you shall shine bright."
Jack's pink face, that was slowly dissipating, was back full blast. Jack felt like he was going to pass out.
"Considering that earlier you were almost...hmmm... seductive, my dear Jack, yet you cannot talk about said topic. Interesting." Chase said with a dirty grin, but his eyes had shown his amusement. This calmed Jack down, slightly.
"Yeah, okay, I'm a virgin, alright? A thousand years old and I'm still a virgin. I don't see-" Chase chuckled at the sudden defense the albino threw at him.
"Spicer, relax. I was merely teasing. If I must wait for you, I shall-" Jack shook his head.
"No! I don't want to wait! I just..." Jack sighed. Chase stood and walked around the table. Jack looked up to see Chase, his hand held out for the albino. Jack took it and was pulled gently out of the chair. Jack was then pulled against the warlord's armour and he felt strong yet gentle arms encircling his fragile frame.
"Spicer...no...Jack, I will never tire of you. I will not betray you. I will take care of you. Dragons mate for life." Jack hadn't realised how tensed he was until he relaxed against the cool metal. He smiled and looked up at his master.
"So do Phoenixes." Chase grinned.
"You have my word." Jack grinned and balanced up on his tip toes, pecking the warlord on the lips.
"And you have mine, Zhu."
