A/N: I know, I know, I'm a bad writer. I know that after the long wait, you were hoping for something better and longer. But right now, it's been so long that I just want to get this up before I forget.

Witchy Woman
That's Not My Name
Saturday night Bella was plagued with dreams of Edward. Some rather gruesome and scary, others more … romantic … in nature. Either way, she woke up many times that night with her heart racing. Waking up for the last time, Bella felt kind of odd. Not able to place it, she went downstairs to have breakfast before starting her research.
Bella practically floated downstairs, not tripping or stumbling once. Reaching up for her box of cereal, she had less trouble than usual getting it down. Shrugging to herself she put it on the table and went to get a bowl and some milk. Bella was so intent on getting everything that she didn't notice her father sneaking up on her.
"Good morning!" Charlie practically yelled at Bella.
Bella was so startled that she jumped into the air … and stayed there.
"Dad! Get me down!" Bella was hovering near the ceiling of the kitchen and completely freaking out. Charlie on the other hand, was just looking up at her smiling.
"When I saw you walk downstairs, I figured you had to be ready to levitate." He stated calmly.
"It's what my mother did to me, she snuck up on me and made me jump five feet into the air. Unluckily for me, I hit my head on the ceiling and was knocked unconscious."
Charlie levitated upwards slowly and gracefully until he was level with Bella. "Hold my hands." He said as he hovered within reach of Bella. Once she was holding both his hands, he said, "Relax, and breath. You have to stay calm and will yourself down. Just imagine yourself floating back to the floor."
It took Bella a few minutes to calm down and longer still to figure out how to get down. Together they spent the next half hour practicing levitating. By the time she had gotten the hang of it, her stomach made itself known and Bella recalled that she hadn't eaten anything for breakfast.
Bella and Charlie sat down together and ate a quick breakfast. Bella proceeded to throw herself into researching vampires in her father's books so she wouldn't have to think about her new power. Bella sat at the round table in the basement and looked at the bookshelves. She read over each title one by one and flew the books that looked promising over to her.
By noon she had read about half a dozen books, with no progress. Unwilling to give up Bella decided to skip lunch and continue in her pursuit. Charlie, however, would not let her and came down with a sandwich and a soda for her to eat. Charlie stopped her from turning a page and said, "Let me show you an easier way to look."
He placed his hands about a foot over the open book and closed his eyes. The pages started turning of their own accord and a minute later they stopped turning on a page about elves.
"All you have to do is think of what you are looking for and guide the energy around you through your fingertips and into the pages of the book." Charlie took Bella's hands and placed them in the same position he had early taken. Bella closed her eyes and thought of vampires. For a few minutes nothing happened. But soon a page turned, and then another. With each page the book picked up speed and soon the pages were turning as quickly as they had for her father. When the pages stopped turning, Bella opened her eyes only to be greeted by the inside back cover of the book.
"Why didn't it work?"
"It did work, but there might not have been anything in this book about what you were looking for." Charlie answered. "Try another book." Charlie turned around and went back upstairs while Bella flew the current book back to its spot on the shelf and picked out another one.
Bella worked her way through the rest of the books within half an hour, but still couldn't find anything. Bella slammed the last book shut. It had been written by Charlie's grandmother and she thought it had the most potential. She was about to leave when she thought about what Jacob had said yesterday. He had said "your people call them vampires," but he had thought that Bella was human. What if "her people" called them the cold ones just like Jacob's tribe. Bella quickly opened the book again A Witches Guide to Mythical Creatures and excitedly placed her hands over the pages. The pages stopped turning a great deal sooner than the previous time and Bella opened her eyes slowly to reveal a page in her great-grandmothers hand writing titled "The Cold Ones". The passage read:
The Cold Ones
Cold Ones are lonely creatures and often try to integrate themselves into society. However, the Cold Ones do not age and must migrate every few years so as not to arouse suspicion. As such they occasionally turn humans for companionship. There is only one known society of Cold Ones that coexists with humans without having to migrate. They are the Volturi and they live in Volterra, Italy. They are considered the rulers of the Cold Ones and have rules to keep humans from knowing about them. They are extremely powerful and very dangerous. They have often tried to turn witches in order to strengthen their army. They round up groups of willing humans and feed on them.
To turn a human they inject them with their venom (found in their mouths) and the human undergoes a few days of excruciating pain, which kills them yet gives them the strength to be awoken from death. They do not eat food, but survive on the blood of humans, draining them completely. Tales of the Cold Ones are found in many cultures under various names. Contrary to folk lore, Cold Ones cannot be harmed by a stake through the heart, sunlight, garlic, crosses, or holy water. They have incredible strength and speed as well as enhanced senses. They do not go into the sunlight because their skin reflects the sun in an obvious way. Therefore they often live in cloudy areas or areas near the North or South Pole due to their long periods of darkness.
Witches cannot be killed by the Cold Ones as humans can, due to their impenetrable skin. However, Cold Ones can sense witches as witches can sense them and are affected by the smell of their blood and sound of their heartbeat. There are spells to mask a witch's scent and muffle the heartbeat making the Cold Ones less of a threat.
The only ways to destroy a Cold One is to rip them into pieces and burn them or to perform a pagan ritual. However, the exact ritual has been lost for millennia.
The passage was followed by the two spells that were mentioned, the one to muffle the heartbeat and the one to mask the scent of blood.
Bella read the page over and over again for nearly three hours trying to absorb as much out of this small passage as she could. She decided that night that she didn't care that Edward was a vampire. Despite reading the passage and knowing about Edward and his family, Bella was not afraid of them, nor did she like him any less than she already did. In fact, she liked him even more, knowing that his secret was similar to hers, that she could have someone to talk to outside of her father that would understand her. With this realization, the hysteria that had been creeping up on her since that morning ebbed decidedly. She was still freaked out by the power she possessed and the changes that were happening to her, but she had a friend, or hopefully more, to talk to.
Bella was unsure of how to tell Edward she knew about his secret and agonized over this fact for a few minutes before deciding it would be best to show him she knew about his secret. She would perform the spells the next day before school to show him she knew what he was. Jus t as she was becoming confident in this plan, she realized there was a snag. How much should she tell him about herself? If she told him about being a witch, would Charlie approve? Would Charlie not want her to tell the Cullens about them? And more importantly, would Edward think she was a freak? Edward was a human originally, Bella wasn't. She, like Edward, was a creature that resembled a human, but one that had been born that way, not turned that way like Edward had been. Would that difference between them keep them apart?
Bella worried all night about this, she worried while making dinner, while making small-talk with Charlie, while getting ready for bed, and all night while she slept. Each dream she had was a different scenario, usually one with the worst outcome imaginable. She tossed and turned and kept seeing Edwards face; beautiful, sometimes angry, sometimes disgusted, and very rarely, happy.
The next morning Bella woke up an hour early than usual. She opened the book to the right page and went about fetching the ingredients for the spell. She needed a piece of chalk, candles, incense, water, salt, and various herbs. She used the chalk to draw a pentagram, starting at North she drew a circle clockwise then proceeded to draw the star blessing each point. Setting up her alter with the book in front of her, Bella lit the candles and incense, put the herbs together and started chanting.
After completing both spells, Bella wasn't sure if they worked or not. She had no way of knowing until she saw Edward, and even then how would she know if it worked? There were so many issues with her plan that she said a small prayer to the Goddess and started getting ready for school.
Walking out to her truck she just hoped this would work.
