Chapter ten: all in due time
:::Kagome's Dream:::
Kagome looked around wondering if she was dreaming. She was in a field with those round yellow bomb like things again. The sky had no stars and no moon. Perhaps its not the sky, Kagome thought softly. It had been a while since she had found herself in this dream. The last time was when Sesshoumaru had asked her about the wound she had received from being active in her dream. She distantly wondered if he would ask her again. Something in her hoped that he would. Something about him pulled her in.
She sighed wondering if the voice would speak to her and leave her wonderfully confused like he tended to do.
"Yes, my Kagome. I am here." The voice was soft and loving.
"Your Kagome?" she was not upset with the voice for calling her so, but she just wanted to know why the voice had in fact called her so.
"Yes Kagome. You do belong to me; it is just that we have never met. But we will soon." She thought the voice sounded sad. She wondered why she wasn't creped out by its declaration.
"How is it that I belong to you?" The voice was silent for a moment
"Kagome…I don't think that you are ready for me to tell you. Answers will come in due time my dear. Everything comes in due time…" the voice still sounded sad and Kagome did not wish to challenge it.
"Why am I here?"
The voice changed now. Still soft but now more stern. "This is your training Kagome. The only training that I can give to you, is through these dreams."
Kagome nodded. This was the most she had ever got from the dream. Although she did not know what the training was for, she was glad that slowly she was getting some kind of explanation. All in due time.
"I see the instructor tomorrow. Will he train me too?"
The voice laughed. "Your instructor was once a dear friend of mine. He will not train you in what I am training you. No one will aside from me. They wouldn't even know where to start. Nevertheless his training well help you greatly. He his very wise."
Kagome was in awe of the voice. She loved the sound of it and how it seemed to be all knowing. Something stirred in her heart. A longing perhaps? To know just where the voice was coming from and how she belonged to it.
"Kagome we will began now. My time with you is almost up and I would like to get you started on this task." Kagome nodded
"You see the yellow orbs, yes? I would like you to concentrate on one of them. Just one- block all the others out of your mind." Kagome did as the voice said and in deep concentration the other orbs seemed to melt away from her vision.
"Very good. Now there is a power in you. Release it into the ball, but with your mind- as if you are starting a fire with your mind in the orb."
She found the instructions strange but she obeyed. She didn't understand how she could purify anything with out touching it. As she extended her miko powers trying to get them into the orb- the orb reacted and threw her back suddenly. All the other orbs where now back to there original spots and she winced as she her back hit one and it exploded on her. She fell to the ground in utter pain.
The orb had pushed her power away. Crushed it completely.
"You had to see for yourself- I'm sorry. Kagome there is another power in you that is not your miko power."
Kagome groaned. "You couldn't tell me that before?"
"No." was the simple answer "I've stayed to long. You will understand more later my dear." And just like that the scenery disappeared from her and she fell into a real sleep. Not some training-sleep one.
:::End Dream::::
Sesshoumaru sat very uncomfortably. He was watching the girl in her sleep when something very strange happened. A slither of blue power slipped into her ear. It happened so fast that he had no time to react.
The thing did not seem dangerous. It had even gave him a good vibe. Even if he wanted to- he could not do anything. Whatever the thing was that had just went into Kagome's mind had somehow restricted him to move. It was a spell of some sort. Magic that he had not seen in a very long time.
The aura of the thing seemed familiar also. He knew it. Something in his memory was trying to surface
Was it a youkia? Yes. He answered himself. At least his mind could not seem to come up with anything else it could be. What ever it was it had a lot of power…a different kind of power. It's spiritual levels were extraordinary-the memory hit him hard and he felt his eyes widen.
It couldn't be. He knew this thing to be dead. He knew their kind to not even exist. It didn't make sense.
He watched as the girl jerked violently in her sleep. She had even moved a good distance. He saw her face wither in pain as she let out a groan. Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow. Was he hurting her? Why was he messing with her anyway? How was he even alive??
Sesshoumaru now urged to move and he let his power surge; wearing thin the magic. He wanted answers.
The blue sprit rose out of Kagome and hung in mid air.
All in due time Lord Sesshoumaru. So much cannot be reviled at this time. Take care of her, though. Or you will be very sorry.
Sesshoumaru growled as the sprit flew off into the night. The voice was just how had remembered. He had even voiced his favorite line "all in due time"
He had hated him telling him that when he was younger. "Jikoen."
::::::::::::
Jikoen weakly made it into his cave. He immediately fell to the ground. He had waited so long for all of this to unfold. Something in him wished that it never would- that the girl would never have to be involved.
He had not meant Sesshoumaru to discover him so soon. But he had to visit Kagome. Time was running out. He couldn't last much longer and Kagome had to be ready to meet her fate.
The spiritual being sighed deeply. He would have to meet with Sesshoumaru soon. He was the leader of the guild and the one that protected Kagome at the time.
But not yet. He thought softly, his mind floating back to Kagome. The time was simply not due right now. She wasn't ready, and although he knew that Sesshoumaru could be trusted it just wasn't the right time. Simple as that.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Kagome woke with a start. She could smell fish. Cooked fish! She sprung up, Sesshoumaru's kimono slipping off her as she shrieked at the pain that shot through her back. She instantly remembered her dream and she imagined that there was some kind of wound spread over her back.
"Strange dream again?" she looked over at Sesshoumaru who wasn't looking at her, but she knew that if he asked then it must have interested him. She frowned. Did he know something she didn't? His voice sounded accusing.
"Yea." She mumbled eyeing the fish that laid neatly on a leafy ready for her to eat. "You made this?"
He glanced at her and then the fish. "Yes. You will need your strength. I will not have you being displayed as weak to your instructor." His eyes rested on the arm that she had bent back, inspecting the damage of her back.
She huffed. "Since when do you care about how I am portrayed?" Forgetting her manners she quickly bit into a fish and chewed hard. Food was so good!
If Kagome hadn't been so busy eating she would have sworn that he rolled his eyes at her.
"You are part of the Guild. Under my protection. You represent me now."
"Oh." She replied lamely.
"Of course that disgusting mark on you does not make anything good at all. I suppose you will look like some kind of traitor." His words were harsh and Kagome felt something in here sink. Did it make her disgusting too?
"What, youkia just go around throwing they're marks on every female they see?!" she retorted.
Sesshoumaru looked at her once again. "No. Most youkie would never force a female as Mysouge did. Lower class demons don't use mating marks. However, you have power, and he thought this was the best way to get it. He bonded himself to you as well. Youkia don't do this unless very serious about they're futures." He saw the girl's confused look and searched for a better explanation.
"When a human marry's another human, doesn't the male give the female something ridiculously expensive? Or make a gesture of engagement? Would he do this on any other circumstances besides wanting to marry her?"
He knew the girl understood as she nodded her head. " I see. Kind of sucks for me though. I didn't even have a chance." She added finishing up her fish.
"Most women do not have a choice when a male forces her beyond her will." He shrugged casually.
Kagome however let out a small gasp. "Its not like he raped me." She said softly. Sesshoumaru gave her another glance.
"To those not knowing the history of the mark, they would think that you are no longer innocent seeing that he choose to take domain over you." He watched has she flinched in disgust.
"Ill kill him myself to get this thing off of me!" she was angry and he could smell it in her scent.
"Doubtful." The youkie stood to his feet and began to put his kimono on once again. He realized that it was covered in her scent. Aside from the dirt she had got on it, the scent was almost pleasing. Almost. "We're leaving now."
Kagome stood slowly trying not to strain her back. This did not go unnoticed by Sesshoumaru. "Jerk!"
Sesshoumaru said nothing but started walking. He chose to say nothing more about the dream. Jikoen would tell him in due time. Sesshoumaru knew him from his childhood, and the youkia was raised to respect his elder. Jikoen was wise too.
He heard the girl running to catch up with him. "Well it's not like your going to kill him for me!"
"I will not kill him just to free you." He thought he sensed a little hurt from her.
"Whatever. Jerk." Sesshoumaru frowned as he thought that perhaps he should just kill him.
:::::::::::::::::::
"So who is my instructor?" Kagome asked not really expecting an answer.
"You will meet him soon enough." He replied as he heard her sign. He could tell that she had been in deep thought for some time now. He wondered if it was about the dream.
"My back hurts." He almost turned to look at her but remained walking.
"You jerked very violently in your sleep last night." He replied after a short moment.
"Yea…I'm my dream…I messed up and then this thing threw me back and I got hurt." Sesshoumaru's eyebrows knitted together. For a girl that talked a lot, her explanations were horrible. He struggled demanding for an explanation. Why had Jikoen visited her in her sleep? What was going on?
"Does what you dream always affect you in such a way?" he knew the answer.
"No. Just the dream with the voice." He guessed the voice was Jikoen.
"Why does this voice want to hurt you?" if Jikoen had not wanted him to find out any information, he should have visited her out his vision.
"He doesn't." she answered defensively. "He said that he's training me. He says I belong to him." Her voice was soft. Sesshoumaru had not noticed that he had slowed his walking to make the distance shorter between the two of them. His eyes narrowed.
As far as he was concerned she did not belong to anyone. Mysouge's mark could not be counted. If anything she belonged to the Guild. She belonged to him indirectly.
"You know this voice?"
"No." Sesshoumaru had stopped and turned to look at her and she looked back.
"You will keep me updated on these dreams. Do not tell anyone else unless I say too." He turned and started to walk again.
Kagome took a second to start walking again. She crossed her arms over her chest. " Not like you control me." He growled.
"I actually do miko." His harsh voice made her feel like a tool. A bargaining chip.
::::::::::::::::
"Could that be Sesshoumaru I sense coming?" Kagome sped up to see an old man standing in the middle of the woods. Behind him was a thin dirt path.
"Yuka." Sesshoumaru gave a slight nod. Kagome distantly wondered if Sesshoumaru ever bowed to someone else as she watched the old man bow.
"And you! You must be Kagome." Kagome smiled brightly and bowed.
"Nice to meet you Yuka-sama." Yuka turned his eyes sharply to Sesshoumaru.
"Well Lord Sesshoumaru I was under the impression that you would leave as soon as you dropped dear Kagome off. Although such a beautiful young lady I see why you are so eager to stay!" Kagome blushed at the mans words. Something told her that he was not so old. She could tell that he was a youkia and it confused her that he looked so old. She thought youkia didn't age after a certain point. She watched Sesshoumaru's face to see that it didn't not change at all at the other youkia's comment.
"There's been a change of events." Was all he replied. Kagome's jaw dropped as the old man in front of her magically transformed into- well into a different appearance all together! His gray hair turned to light shaggy brown hair. His old brown eyes into light green- although they still held wisdom. He grew about four inches taller and starting at his jaw a line that turned into a swirl on his cheek formed.
"There will always be a change of events." Although he looked so much younger- Kagome thought there was something that was so mature about him. The way he talked to Sesshoumaru just now told her that he was older then he.
"So it seems."
Yuka turned his head and winked at Kagome. "This is my true humanoid form." He laughed at Kagome's wide eyes and slightly opened mouth. "Now come along! There is much I want to hear about you Kagome." He turned and began to walk down the small dirt trail that had been behind him.
::::::::::::::::::;
Kagome laughed. " Oh Yuka it wasn't that bad. Sesshoumaru did utter more then five words a day." The two laughed again as Sesshoumaru eyed the two wearily.
She brought her tea to her mouth. "Sorry if this is rude, but I just wanted to know why you're my instructor when I'm a miko and you're a youkia?" she hadn't noticed the shake of the head Sesshoumaru had given when Yuka looked his way.
"Well Kagome dear, you have been demonstrating some strong power lately- power that is not average for a miko. I am an expert in power and energy." He laughed an added in a light hearted way, "You don't purify me and I'll try not to rid the world of the most powerful miko I've encountered."
Kagome laughed with knowing the nature of his joke. "Why thank you Yuka-sama, but you haven't even see my power, and its really not that powerful. Its not like I'm the Kea Ooki!" she had meant it as a joke, but it seemed that a small amount of tension entered the room after that.
Yuka smiled. "I've heard rumors of your power. And I am also an expert of sensing power." Kagome smiled in return.
Sesshoumaru cleared his throat and Yuka nodded. "Yes Sesshoumaru, I know. Kagome why don't you go bathe and get a fresh pair of clothes and then we can all join together again for dinner." Kagome nodded, sensing the need for "war talk" she bowed and swiftly followed a servant to the bathing area.
She really needed one anyway. Yuka must not thought nothing great at his first look at her appearance and she was probably hurting Sesshoumaru's sensitive nose! Not that she was trying to impress anyone of anything, but it never hurt to look presentable.
::::::::::::::::
Sesshoumaru had watched as Kagome and Yuka laughed together. Yuka had taken to her quickly. I guess it was natural to expect his. Everyone at the Gates had reacted the same way to her. Except Razu. And himself of course.
Sesshoumaru was use to Yuka's teasing. After all, since the older demon was his fathers closest companion; Yuka had know Sesshoumaru since he was a pup. He had not, however, expected the girl to join in.
"You done chatting Yuka?" Sesshoumaru swiftly took the seat that Kagome had just been sitting in. her scent lingered for a moment or too. She needed a bath- he thought. He could smell the dirt on her and the…blood? When had she got blood? He concluded that it must have been at the youkia village.
"Oh yes for now I suppose." The youkie looked a little disappointed that his company that had brought him laughs had left. He sighed. "I'm an old man Sesshoumaru, I've heard and dealt with so many matters of war that it all gets very tiring. I've realized that its been quite lonely and tiresome dealing with these matters all these years. Putting these matters before anything else."
Sesshoumaru frowned. "These matters are the only ones that are important."
The demon smiled sadly. "I thought you would say as much Sesshoumaru. But after Lekia…all this gets rather lonely."
"Then perhaps you should have not fallen for emotions in the first place Yuka." The demon smiled at him.
"Oh Sesshoumaru I hope one day you'll see all things you keep missing. I wouldn't want you to have it all pass you by." The two were silent again. One thinking about how his best friend's dying words was to watch over his sons; the other about the familiar words his mother had said.
"Tell me what's happened." Yuka broke the silence, and Sesshoumaru relayed the newest information to him.
