A/N Things are going to get sad. Please don't hate me. I promise it won't be that sad. Just hang in there.
Please read and enjoy this chapter. As you must know I do not own Gilligan's Island. I do not own the characters. The late Sherwood Schwartz owned all of it.
Mary Ann lit the candles on the table covered with white linen cloth.
She cooked a special dinner for her sailorman. Steak, potatoes and fresh corn on the cob from the farm. The brunette knew how much he missed that type of food on the island and she wanted to make it special just for him.
She blew out the match and threw it in the trash can. Everything looked perfect. Soft romantic music played on her stereo. The Kansas girl checked her appearance in the mirror and was pleased. Her brunette locks were tied into the two pigtails she knew that Gilligan loved. Her dress was red with a short skirt and she wore a pair of matching sandals on her feet. On her ears were a pair of ruby earrings she had borrowed from her sister Kathleen.
The door bell rang and she smiled. Walking over to the door, she pulled it open to find Gilligan standing there holding a small bouquet of red roses. He wore a dark blue dinner jacket and crisp white shirt but still had his trademark faded blue jeans. His hair was combed back and he had his endearing grin on his face. "Hi Mary Ann."
"Hi Gilligan." She greeted as she kissed him.
"I brought you flowers." The first mate said handing them to her.
"They are beautiful." Mary Ann smiled as she sniffed them. "Thank you. Come on in."
Gilligan stepped in and saw the dinner table set up. "Wow. Looks great." He said.
The farm girl put the roses in some water. "I hope you are hungry."
"I'm always hungry. Especially for your food. You are the best cook."
Mary Ann giggled. "Thank you." She kissed his cheek.
The brunette took his arm and led to him the table. He took his seat and Mary Ann sat across from him. After saying the blessing, the two dug into the delicious food. They started with a nice crisp green salad.
Mary Ann watched the sailor as he ate. She knew she was about to change his whole world and had no idea how he would react. But she prayed he would be as thrilled as she was. "Gilligan." She started. "I have something important to tell you."
"What is it?" He asked taking another bite of his salad.
"I um I found out some wonderful news. I hope you will be as excided as I am."
"If you are excided then I will be too!" He exclaimed.
The farm girl shook her head with a smile. "Gilligan." She said taking his hand in hers. "I love you so much. We've been through a lot. Stranded on an island, having to survive…but we did. We did it together. And now we are going to spend our lives together. You and me and…our baby."
"I love you too Mary Ann. And I can't wait to begin a new life with you and our baby…our baby?" He said stunned.
The brunette girl smiled. "Yes Gilligan. Our baby. I'm pregnant."
Gilligan stared at his fiancé. His eyes took in the happiness in her beautiful brown eyes and way her mouth was shaped into a loving smile. "You're…pregnant? I..You are pregnant?"
"I am. I took the pregnancy test and it came back positive and I then went to the doctor who also confirmed that I am in fact going to have a baby."
"Wow." Gilligan said amazed. "I'm going to be a…father. Me. Gilligan. A father."
The sailorman stood up still in shock. Of all the things he thought he would be a father was not one of them. He could not believe it. A little baby. Created by him and pretty Mary Ann. Sweet pretty Mary Ann. The first mate sat down on the sofa. "A father. I'm going to be a father."
Mary Ann walked over and sat down next to him. "You okay?"
He turned his head towards her. "I'm…I'm overwhelmed…."
"It is overwhelming." Mary Ann agreed. "I was pretty stunned myself. But Abby and Scott helped me…"
"Abby and Scott?" interrupted Gilligan. "Scott knows?"
"Oh well…Gilligan when I thought I was pregnant I was very nervous…I needed a friend. So I called Scott. He brought his new girlfriend Abby over and they helped calm me down."
"Cause you didn't think I could handle it." He frowned standing up.
Mary Ann quickly rose from the sofa. "No Gilligan. I swear that's not it! I was scared and I just needed a friend. You know that Scott does not mean…"
"I know Mary Ann. I know. But you going to him instead of me…it makes me think that you still see me as some clumsy immature guy who…."
The brunette turned him to face her. "I do not see you that way." She insisted. "I love you. Gilligan I didn't know how I felt myself. I needed a calm rationale voice. Abby and Scott were wonderful. They told me that you would be thrilled about the baby and I shouldn't worry about anything."
"You sure?" He said.
"Yes I'm sure. Gilligan I'm marrying you. You don't have to worry about Scott. He is with Abby. And he knows that I do not have feelings for him."
The first mate nodded. "I know Mary Ann. I'm sorry. It's just…your Aunt Carol pushing for you to marry him instead of me….I..I know I shouldn't doubt you."
"I will never give you any reason too." She assured.
Gilligan smiled touching her pigtails. "You are everything I want Mary Ann. I don't want anyone to take you from me."
"That will never happen. That stupid Duke couldn't accomplish it. You were my knight in shiny armor when I needed to get rid of him. You are worth more than all the Dukes and Scotts of the world. I love you."
The young sailor hugged her. "We are having a baby. You and me."
"Yes." Mary Ann smiled. "We are."
"Our kid can be best friends with Ginger and the Professor's kids."
"Have birthday parties together, go to school together." Mary Ann smiled snuggling close to him.
"Whoever thought we would all be parents." He mused. "I never thought the Professor would ever admit he was in love with Ginger. I mean he wasn't very good at hiding it."
Mary Ann giggled. "No he wasn't."
"I always loved you Mary Ann. I should have picked you to be the Most Beautiful Castaway cause you were."
"Oh Gilligan it was just some silly contest. I don't care about that. What I care about is being your wife and having your child."
The first mate placed a kiss on her lips and their dinner was forgotten. Mary Ann's red dress was peeled away and thrown to the floor. Gilligan's lip kissed her soft neck and she closed her eyes enjoying the love he was giving her.
The farm girl pushed the jacket off his shoulders and it fell to the floor. She unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it off.
Moments later they were wrapped in eachother's arms.
Gilligan whispered to her how much he loved her. His lips trailed down her neck to her breast.
She felt something wonderful building up inside her. The love she was feeling for this man was stronger than ever.
Mary Ann smiled he placed a kisses down her neck. "Love you Mary Ann." He whispered.
"I love you Gilligan."
The two made love once more before deciding they were hungry and went back to their dinner. Mary Ann threw on Gilligan's white shirt and he remarked she looked sexy in it. It almost began another round of lovemaking however their stomachs thought otherwise.
They finished their dinner and sat on the sofa together. Gilligan had his arm around her smiling as he thought of how his child was growing inside her. He wondered if it would be a boy or a girl. If it was a girl he was sure she would be as pretty as Mary Ann. Wait till he told all his friends that he made a baby! Wouldn't Skinny Mulligan be jealous!
Wow. His parents would be thrilled too. Leslie Gilligan had stated that she wished for him to find a nice girl. She had spoke to Mary Ann on the phone and adored her. As did Timothy Gilligan. He thought Mary Ann a sweet girl. Both could not wait to meet her. They were flying in from Pennsylvania soon so they could help with the wedding planning. Gilligan's brother Steven asked him how in the world he landed a babe like Mary Ann. His sister Beth was excited hoping she could be in the wedding.
Gilligan hoped they liked Mary Ann's parents although he was sure that was not going to be a problem. Elizabeth and Conrad Summers were great people. He liked them a lot. His mind then went to Mary Ann's Aunt Carol. She was not happy about him marrying her niece. Why he did not know but he decided it was her problem. Nothing would deter him from marrying his sweet farm girl. Nothing.
Next Morning
Gilligan had awaken around eight o'clock. He looked over seeing Mary Ann still asleep. She looked like an angel to him. The way the white sheets surrounded her. He kissed her forehead and crept out of bed.
After showering and dressing, he decided he was going to surprise Mary Ann and for once cook her breakfast. He left a note stating he had gone out and would be back soon. He opened the door and headed to his car. Gilligan started it up and pulled out of the space onto the street. He was so happy.
Marrying his beautiful Mary Ann and now there was a baby on the way! How exciting was that! Wait till he told the Skipper! Wouldn't he be surprised! He Gilligan was going to be a father! A father! He Gilligan! It was incredible!
As he continued to drive a truck had come around the corner having run a red light.
It slammed right into the front of his car sending it careening across the road. The vehicle finally came to a stop and the sailorman was slummed over the wheel.
Mary Ann's Place
The farm girl awoke finding a note from Gilligan stating that he went out but would be back soon. She thought all about last night. How happy he was to find out they were going to have a baby. A sweet precious baby!
Mary Ann wanted a son. She would love to have a little boy who was just like Gilligan.
Kind and caring with a big heart. What they would name it she didn't know yet.
They had plenty of time to come up with names.
She showered and dressed waiting for Gilligan to return. A half hour pass by and he still hadn't shown. Then another. Still no Gilligan. She was really getting worried. Maybe he had stopped to see the Skipper.
Mary Ann picked up the phone and dialed. "Hello? Skipper, it's Mary Ann. I'm good thank you. Um did Gilligan come see you? Oh…he didn't? You haven't seen him? No I just…he left a note stating he went out and would be back soon and it's been over an hour….Yes please call me as soon as you hear anything. Thanks Skipper."
The farm girl hung up the phone with a worried expression. Where was Gilligan?
She was about to call Ginger when the doorbell rang. She ran over to answer it to find a police officer standing there.
"Mary Ann Summers?" He asked.
"Yes."
"I'm Sgt. Baker. Are you engaged to a William Gilligan?"
"Yes…Why…did something happen?"
"There's been an accident."
"What!" Mary Ann shrieked tears building up. "Is he….Gilligan…Is he okay? Please tell me he is okay!"
