Chapter Ten:

Bella hadn't heard from Rose or Emmett she was getting a little worried. It was almost two in the morning before she decided to go up to Embry's room. She thought maybe the smell of his sheets would be a comfort thing. It wasn't she was more worried now that she hadn't heard from the pack or Rose and Emmett. She kept having awful thoughts no matter how much she didn't want to think about the worse habit she would. Bella groaned in frustration. Was sleep ever going to come to her? At this rate she would be aging very quickly with the lack of sleep.

She couldn't help but keep thinking this was all her fault. Had she stayed in New York then the pack would be safe. The mates would have been safe, where ever she goes trouble seems to follow her. Maybe staying at the pack house was going make this a lot harder for her. She was going have to call her dad and tell him the pack is missing, and that she didn't know what to do. That was a phone call she wasn't looking forward too.

Rachel had decided to go home to her dad, Bella had promised to call when she heard something. Rachel really didn't want to go back to her dads house. She was still upset with him but he still needed help. She couldn't just turn her back on her father. Even if she didn't agree with what he did. She still had words she wanted to say to him but she couldn't, not until the pack was found. Not until Jacob and Embry was found. Her heart ached for the boys. Rachel was going call Becca tomorrow to let her know they have another brother, but she was sure Becca wouldn't care. She rarely cares about anything but herself, not much has changed.

For twins they weren't close anymore. Growing up they were inseparable but when they left La Push things started to change. Becca became the partier out of the two of them. Becca had failed out of school, and Rachel had to lie to their dad. Becca said it was her way of coping with losing their mother at a young age, and being forced to take care of Jake. After a while Becca moved to Hawaii married some guy and has three kids now. Rachel hasn't met any of them, but Becca kept promising to come back for a visit but she hasn't. After a while Rach got sick of hearing what Becca would come up with. Sometimes Becca would only call to see if she could get money because they were tight on funds.

Like Rach, Jake, Billy were any better with funds. They were tight with it too, but they were doing all they could to help out. Jake was working his ass off. Same with Paul, and Rachel, Becca just didn't understand that. Becca wasn't even working but she was capable of. Her dead beat husband was no better trying to chase a surfing career that wasn't happening. They were just two people who wanted hand outs instead of working for what they need. Rach remembers having begged Becca to come back to La Push for a little bit, and Becca refuses. She doubts that Becca will care about having a half brother but she deserves to know. It's not like she calls and talks to Jake or even Billy.

Amber had also decided to go back to her apartment. She as hoping that Jake would be there but wasn't. Amber never would stay at the pack house even when Jake was there. Bella had also promised to call her when she heard something. They were all struggling with trying to figure out where their pack went. Bella got up and decided maybe a hot bubble bath would help her nerves.

She started the water and added the bubbles watching it fill up. As soon as she stepped into the tub and sat down she felt her muscles loosen up. The hot water felt amazing. It didn't help her mind to quiet down. She had brought a book in with her but she was having trouble focusing on the words. Her mind just kept going back to all the bad things that could be happening to the people she cared about. Bella heard her phone ringing hoping it was finally Embry.

"Hello," she answered when she say it wasn't Embry's number. Her heart broke a little bit, she was missing him more then she thought she would have been.

"Bella, it's Rose, sorry it took so long but we did find a trail of the pack," Rose spoke. "We followed it but then we lost it as soon as it got to the street. Someone picked them up in a vehicle is what we are thinking. We also came across a few vampire scents, but we couldn't place them. It wasn't any of ours, but that doesn't mean anything. We followed the trail to Alaska. We think maybe the pack got drugged somehow?"

"That is terrible news, how are we suppose to find them? Did you go to where Edward and them are staying?" Bella asked as she was fighting back tears. It was pointless because the tears were coming out now. She felt guilty for everything that is happening.

"Yes, it was a dead end. The house was packed up there hadn't been anyone there for a few days. So they must have planned this when they saw you," she told Bella. Rose wasn't gong to hide anything from the girl, that just wasn't her style.

"Emmett and I have calls into a few vampires we trust to see if they heard anything or if they can find anyone," Rose spoke. "Right now Emmett and I are back at the house seeing if there are any charges on the credit cards. I haven't came across anything, and most of these were paid off and cancelled a few days ago. Esme tried to get ahold of Edward, Jasper, and Alice all their phones were turned off. Jasper's isn't turned off so that could be good news."

"What are we suppose to do? What are we suppose to think?" Bella cried. " Am I suppose to sit here and do nothing. I have to help somehow."

"I think it is safe to say that Edward, and Alice was involved some way. We aren't going to let anything happen. We are calling all the people we can to see if they get any word. Emmett and I are going head back up to the house in Alaska and go through paperwork to see if we can figure anything out," Rose spoke. Bella wanted to believe that they were going find the pack but right now she couldn't.

"I know you might not like what I'm about to say. Edward, and Alice are ruining everything that means something to me. If they did kidnap the pack then that is my whole life he has there. He has my two adoptive big brothers. He has the man who is my mate, my soul mate, the man I'm suppose to be with. He has taken everything from me. He left me, he said it would be like he never existed. This is the opposite," Bella said she was now crying. She felt awful for all the pain she is bringing on everyone. All because she was the stupid teenager who had a toxic relationship with a vampire.

"We will get him, and we will get your family back. I just need you girls to be strong right now, " Rose promised. Being strong would be easier if she knew the pack was going be okay. She needed to know they were being fed and not put in pain.

"I still feel the connection to Embry, I assume if he was no longer with us that the connection would be broken. I imagine it will be painful," Bella whispered. At least she still knows Embry, Jake and Paul are still alive. None of the girls have complained about feeling pain.

"We won't let that happen. I knew Carlisle was too easy on Edward, and Alice. Emmett and I will do everything we can. I'll call you back," Rose said as she hung up.

Bella decided to call both girls and explain the situation. Rachel took the news a little bit better than Amber did. Amber started to scream and cry, Bella tried her best to calm her down but it just wasn't happening yet. Bella wasn't sure she could go to sleep. She wanted Embry, she wanted her family.

Finally, the sun started to come through meaning it was early morning. Bella slept on and off but not very well at all. She knew she had to go to the Bakery but she didn't want to. She wanted to go to Alaska and find her mate, but she had to trust Rose. She should probably check on the garage, she wasn't even sure what to do there. Maybe she could call the people and explain there was an emergency in their family and they had to fly out last minute.

Bella got ready and decided the first stop would be the garage. She figured she could make calls there so y people didn't get mad. She wasn't sure how they really did anything there but she'll figure it out. She got the extra key that Embry had given her and opened the garage. She saw there were a lot on their answering machine.

She groaned knowing this was going take long, and she still had to go to the bakery and get things started. Then she remembered Sam's construction business, and people probably needed called for that too. She groaned. She listened to the garage answer machine writing down messages. She called back the ones she thought should be called back explaining there was a family emergency and they left last minute. A lot of the people were understanding.

Then she called on the ones that were currently being worked on. She explained the situation, and told them if they needed it down quicker, or a rental car that she would give them the money. She figured she could use the income from the bakery to cover that, and then they could work it out later. A lot of them denied the rental car that they didn't need it.

She then got their mail wondering if she should look to see if there were bills due. She got into their computer system to call the people who were suppose to be dropping off cars this week and explained the situation. Everyone was super nice about it and understood. Bella took out the garbage that was in the bins, and locked the place back up. One place down two more to go. She would have to ask Rachel for help tomorrow.

She got into Sam construction business and looked at the calendar. She was thrilled that it was less busy then the garage. She called people letting them know there is a family emergency and Sam had to fly out. Asking if they could reschedule when she gets an update. They were all supportive as well, having known Sam and the boys for a while. Bella took in their mail, and took out their garbage.

She looked at her phone seeing there where no missed calls so she left to go to the bakery. She wanted to cry if this was going be her life for the next week. If they couldn't find them she was going have to figure out something with their two business. She would have to ask her dad for help. She opened the bakery and went back to the kitchen.

She had to start making the cookies and muffins if she wanted to open on time. As soon as she put them in the oven she walked into the front area and cleaned off the counter and the display case. She cleaned off the table and chairs. She was exhausted, she was going have to hire someone else to help if Emily, and Kim were going be out.

"Bella," Amber said as she walked in. "I figured with them gone you would need more help."

"I wasn't expecting you today, but I'm not complaining. It's been a long day and it isn't even noon."

"Rachel said you stopped by the garage and Sam's business to make phone calls," Amber spoke as she got around the counter.

"Yeah, I cancelled a lot of appointments for the week telling them there was a family emergency. I told them I would get in contact with them to set up their appointments. I don't know what the hell we are going do if we can't find them soon. I'm thinking we are going have to hire someone at the garage to at least finish the cars there," Bella muttered. "This is all my fault."

"It's not your fault that someone drugged the pack. It's not your fault that Edward prayed on you when you were a teenager," Amber finally spoke up. "As much as I want to blame you, I can't. I heard stories."

"If I didn't come back, then I wouldn't have had the idea to get in touch with the Cullen's to find out why the pack wasn't getting pregnant. I suggested it, it's my fault. Edward found out, and I didn't think he would show up," Bella spoke.

"If you didn't show up Embry would have been miserable. The pack never understood why he didn't date. I can't tell you how many times I tried to set him up with one of my friends, but he denied. For a while I thought maybe he just wasn't into girls. So I tried to get him to date a couple guys, and he still said no. Kim, and Emily tried super hard too. He just wouldn't. He put all his time into the garage," Amber told her. "They might not like me, but he is a hard worker. You being here has changed him. From what Jake says, Embry smiles more. He isn't as serious, and he is working a little less."

"It's still my fault," she muttered. "Are you good staying up here for a little bit by yourself? I have to finish this stuff, and we are opening now?"

Amber nodded, "I should be fine. If I need help I'll just call your name."

Bella went back into the kitchen getting lost into what she was baking. She couldn't help but feel guilty about what happened. Edward only took the pack because of her. They are punishing her. She isn't meant to be happy, and she should have known that. This place only takes from her never gives.

A few hours later and Bella's phone started ringing. She looked down to see it was Emmett.

"Hello?" Bella answered.

"Bella, Rose wanted me to call you. There are a few people who may have saw something. We are heading up to a house that is suppose to be abandon. We haven't caught any scent, yet. The house they were at had no clues. Alice must have seen we would be behind them, and calling people," Emmett admitted.

"That's no news then," Bella muttered. "Did anyone see a car? Maybe a make, model and I don't know a license plate? If they did I bet I could get dad to run it."

Rose took the phone from Emmett, "Sweetheart, unless Charlie has ties to Canada, I don't think that's going work."

"How the hell would Edward get across the boarder with grown ass men knocked out in the vehicle?" Bella shouted. She was getting frustrated now. She wanted to throw the phone, she wanted to run out of the bakery and find this.

" Don't worry, we think we have the trail but getting there without Alice seeing is the issue," Rose spoke. "We are looking for someone we use to know to help us get around her visions. It's just taking us longer to find the person."

"What are we suppose to do? There are me plus two other mates here with no idea what the hell to do. I'm practically running three business right now. What the hell am I suppose to do with the garage? The construction?" Bella muttered. "I don't like feeling like this."

"We know, and we are doing everything we can. I can get you in touch with a human mechanic that can help you at the garage," Rose spoke. "He will be more then willing to help, he does a lot of work finding rare cars for us."

"Thanks," she muttered. "Just give him my phone number, I guess."

"I'll call you back a little later," Rose said.

Bella hung up the phone and started crying. Why couldn't Edward just take her, and leave the pack alone? She asked Amber if she was still good up there, which she was. Bella would have to tell her and Rachel the latest conversation that wasn't good at all. Bella went back to making the baked goods.

The day finally ended and the girls parted ways. Bella decided it was best for her to go to her dads house and fill him in on what has been happen. She pulled up to her childhood house a little surprise to find the cruiser wasn't there. She thought he had the day off but he must have gotten called in. Bella unlocked the front door and decided she would start making him dinner. At least he could come home to a hot meal.

She lost track of time, and heard the front door opening. "Bells, you here?" he called out as she heard him take his gun and put it away.

"In the kitchen dad, dinners almost done," she replied.

He walked in with a smile on his face, "Bells, it smells amazing. Not that I'm complaining but what are you doing here."

Bella retold the story to her father about what has been going on. He ate and listened to everything she was saying. He seemed to be going into cop mode about the disappearance of the men. " Bells, I'll make a few calls and see if we can figure something out. "

"Dad, I don't think that's a good idea. Emmett and Rose are up there trying to track down leads. They are looking for someone who is able to help block the vision of Alice. They are also looking for someone who might be able to get a location of where the pack is being held. They figured they would come across some scent by now of the pack but they haven't. Rose things that they have a vampire on their side that can mask the scent of the pack," Bella spoke. "I haven't told Rach or Amber that yet. I have to but I don't want them to lose hope Rachel already has a lot to deal with Billy but now this."

"I spoke to Billy earlier, actually. He called to tell me that Embry is his son. We had a long talk more like me screaming at him. Calling him a moron and that I can't believe he would do something like that. I asked him if he knew Embry was his, and he did," Charlie told his daughter. "I was devastated when your mother took you. I can't figure out how he ignored his son. How does a father do that? I came and visited you when Renee wouldn't let you travel. I wrote and called you."

"I know dad. I don't understand it either. When Embry phased everyone just thought his dad was Sam's. I can't believe Billy let everyone think that. I'm starting to wonder if Billy knew the rightful Alpha had to have control of the pack in order for the imprints to get pregnant," Bella spoke. "He was willing to deny everyone happiness to keep his secret."

"I don't understand it, kiddo," Charlie replied as he took a sip of his beer.

"He told Rach and I the night that Sarah died was the night Sarah found out. They had gotten into a fight about something and it came out. The affair came out and Sarah connected the dots. Rachel said Sarah use to say Embry resembled Billy."

"When Jake hears this, he is going be devastated. It's already bad enough knowing his dad never said he had a brother but the night of the accident they had gotten into a fight. That kind of makes sense though. Billy basically stopped living when Sarah died. He gave up on himself, he stopped taking his medicine. He stopped doing everything. He must have felt guilty."

"If Jake hears this, dad, Rose and Emmett are still coming up empty. I have no idea what else to do. All supernatural creatures I knew are missing, or the kidnappers," Bella hissed out.

Charlie got up from his chair and pulled his daughter out of her chair. He pulled her into a hug, "Kiddo, you can't think like that."

"I'm not meant to have my happy ending. I'm meant to have disappointment," she muttered as she was crying into her fathers work shirt.

"We don't know that. You can't think like that. Those boys are fighter," he spoke.

"You forget Leah is a wolf. She is a girl dad. The pack is strong and fighters, I agree. What about Kim and Emily? How did Edward even get them off the reservation?" Bella questioned. " I can't figure out why if Edward took Kim and Emily, why did he leave me? Wouldn't I be the one he wanted to take? "

"I don't know either," Charlie spoke.

"How did he get into the house, and get them? Dad, I'm starting to think someone helped them. They had to if they took Emily and Kim. If Edward came into La Push he wouldn't have passed up the chance to take me," she spoke. "Maybe I should go back to La Push and look around the pack house."

"Come on, I'll take you. I'm a cop I know what I'm looking for."

Bella tried to stop herself from rolling her eyes but she couldn't. "Dad I was detective shows. I think I know too."

"Leave it to the professionals, kiddo," he told her. Sometimes her father really annoyed her.

She got into his police cruiser, and was at least thankful he didn't turn the lights one. He could be embarrassing like that. The one time when she was ten and he picked her up from the airport, he had decided that it was a good idea to turn the lights on. It wasn't the first time he had done that to her. He thought it was the funniest thing, but she didn't.

They pull in front of the pack house, that looked odd with it completely dark. They got out of the car, and her father grabbed a bag. She fought the urge to roll her eyes. They walked to the front door, and Bella unlocked the door. Her father stepped in first. He examined the front door, seeing that it didn't look like the lock was picked.

"Do you lot lock the door at night?" he asked .

"There are werewolves who live here, do you think they lock the door? They live in La Push where there is almost no crime," Bella spoke. "I locked the door when I left this morning because it's only been me here."

Charlie fought the urge to lecture his daughter about the importance of making sure the house is locked when everyone leaves the house. Even when everyone goes to sleep. Living with a group of werewolves is no reason to leave the door unlocked. He shut the door and looked around.

"Do they lock their bedroom doors?" Charlie asked.

Bella laughed again, "No dad they don't. There is no privacy in the pack mind. So why would they lock bedroom doors?"

"You younger generation," he muttered going up the stairs. "When you woke up was anything out of place?"

"Nope," she spoke.

"Which one is Sam & Emily's room?"

Bella pointed him to the door. He opened the bedroom door. The big bed was made, and the room was really neat. Charlie didn't think werewolves would be that clean but it's safe to say it was Emily's doing. He looked around noticing it was weird, if she was taken why was her bed made. " Was she in bed when she was taken?"

"I thought she was, but her bed was made, and I certainly didn't make it," Bella spoke. "It was like that when I looked in the other day to see if she was here."

"So maybe she was down in the living room or kitchen?" he suggested.

"I don't know. My mind was on how to help Embry with the news he just got that I didn't do a head count of who was in their bedroom," she snapped.

"I'm trying to help you," he spoke. "Wouldn't it be easier if you just asked Rose or Emmett to come sniff out the house?"

"First off dad, they aren't dogs. Second off they aren't allowed in La Push. It breaks the treaty, and I highly doubt the elders would be okay with this. As it is now, I'm surprised the elders weren't here when we got here. I'm still surprised they haven't found a way to keep me out from their entrance. I'm sure they are blaming me for this," she muttered. "I'm sure they realized, or at least Billy informed them that the pack is missing. Just want until they figure out."

"Billy may not have told them yet. He does have a secret he maybe thinking of how to tell them," her dad suggested.

"I highly doubt it, dad. I'm sure he alerted the Elders, and I'm sure they are going say something to me. I'm surprised they haven't showed up here or at the bakery, even if I am an imprint. I hear they weren't too happy when Billy told you about the secrets."

Charlie continued to look around finding zero clues. Bella knew he wasn't going to find anything. That's why she was starting to think it was someone from inside the reservation that helped get Kim and Emily. Her dad was getting annoyed that he couldn't find anything. "They always leave something behind," he muttered.

"They didn't," she replied.

"Lets go back to the house," he spoke as he grabbed his bag.

Her dad was now frustrated at how clean the house was. There should have been something left behind. Unless the girls left with someone they both trusted. Maybe Bella was right, maybe it was an inside job. Who in La Push would be willing to help Edward? Charlie had a ton of unanswered questions, and it was frustrating.
