A few hours after Dr. Grant's group left Billy at the warehouse
Dr. Harding was driving furiously on the road to get away from the warehouse, though they had already passed it quite a few miles back.
"Gerry! Slow down a bit huh?" Nima said.
"I can't do that! With the dinosaurs out, there's no telling what could attack us!" he said. Dr. Grant was in the back of the van feeling guilt for leaving Billy behind.
"I can't believe we just left him there..." he said.
"There was nothing we could have done Alan. If we had waited for him, we'd all be dead now," Gerry said.
"You don't know that! Nick, when Dr. Malcolm injured his leg on Isla Sorna, did you leave him behind?" Grant asked.
"Of course not," he said.
"That was different. Billy wasn't injured! He made a dumb decision to try to get something we didn't even need!" Gerry said.
"We have no weapons now! I've got a machete, and a revolver with 6 rounds in it! That's it! If we had waited for Billy we could have shot our way out! I'm sorry Gerry, but I'm with Dr. Grant on this one," Nima said. Gerry sighed and just shook his head and kept on driving.
"Um, where exactly are we going?" Nick asked.
"Well for one thing, we need supplies. And we need to see if any of the dinosaurs have gotten elsewhere," Gerry said.
"Of course they've gotten elsewhere. They're dinosaurs for God's sake," Grant said, starting to get irritated by Gerry.
"Look. Up ahead. There's a clearing and I can see a few tents or something," Nima said. Gerry nodded and pulled into the seemingly deserted camp. All that was left were two or three walkers roaming about. Nima picked all three of them off with her machete. Nick was scouring around the camp and discovered lots of food, but only two pistols that got left behind; both with only half of their ammo. Dr. Grant found a .22 that had been buried under some brush, but it only had two rounds. What Gerry found, would soon disturb everyone.
"You guys might want to take a look at this," he said not looking up from what he found. Everyone looked at the buried remains of the raptors that had been buried by Jacob, Glenn, and T dog a few hours earlier. Apparently, a rain storm that had hit caused the dirt around the raptors to wash away revealing their remains.
"What in the hell?" Gerry said.
"Why would someone bury velociraptors?" Nick asked. Nima just looked on with a puzzled look. Almost a minute of silence passed by; then Doctor Grant spoke up.
"To mask the smell," he said.
"Huh?" Gerry asked.
"Think about it: If the predators or other animals looking for a quick meal are in the area, they wouldn't be able to smell it unless they were right on top of it," Grant said.
"Or they just didn't want to burn it," Nima said.
"That's also very true," Gerry said.
"I hate to interrupt the forensic investigating, but we've got company!" Nick said as four more raptors jumped out of the woods. One of them had a few stripes on its head that went down to it's back. The other three were three different shades of green. Everyone aimed what weapons they had at the raptors. As the four Raptors were getting ready to pounce on the survivors, a lightly bearded man in a blue and brown vest, jumped out of the woods from nowhere.
"Hold your fire! Hold your fire!" He yelled while running out of the woods. Suddenly, the man jumped in front of the raptors and held his hands out as if holding them back.
"Hey get away from them you're gonna-" Gerry was cut off by the man.
"Shhh!" he shushed him. The man then proceed to calm the raptors.
"Blue! Stand down," the raptor did nothing.
"Stand down,'' the raptor snapped at him. Nima drew the pistol at the sight of this, but Grant gestured for her to put it down.
"Hey, Hey! What'd I just say?!" He said sternly to the raptor. The raptor finally complied and backed off. A few of the others followed.
"Good!" he said. suddenly one of the other raptors tried to corner him.
"Delta! I see you, back up!" she complied. They all started to comply and backed off from doctor Grant's group.
"Okay, good. Good. Now: Go hunt!" he commanded them. All four raptors ran off into the woods to find food. Everyone was dumbfounded.
"How did you-? What in the hell? I-I-" Grant was at a loss for words. Nima was the only one who could find the ability to speak.
"Hey! What's your name?" she asked.
"Owen. Owen Grady,"
To be continued...
I sincerely apologize for taking so long to update everyone! I really wanted to wait to continue writing until after Jurassic World came out so I could get an idea on new characters, dinosaurs, plot elements, etc. And now that I've seen the movie, I hope to get some new chapters out! Thanks for reading everyone, and thanks for all the support you've given me! It helps a lot
By the way, I hope you liked the addition of Owen to the story. I Had originally had it so he wouldn't come in until season 3 or 4, but I changed my mind, so I hope you like it! ~JPfan
