Hello everyone! I just realized that the chapter "Jordi" had the wrong content! Oops! So this is the real chapter.
Phillip went to the hospital, he saw Jordi still sleeping in her bed and the doctor writing on her chart. He walked in to see her.
"Excuse me?" Phillip said.
"Oh hello," the doctor said.
"My name's Phillip and I'm Jordi's..." He had to think of something other than 'brother', "close friend. Is it alright if I stay here?"
"Of course. Any problems and you just come to me."
The doctor left the room leaving the two hedgehog there. Phillip sat ing ht e chair beside her bed, he just stared at her as she peacefully slept. So much went through his mind: how could she leave him? How could Maria not tell him earlier? How was he going to tell her? Thought after thought flowed through his mind, he knew it was going to be just as confusing to her as it was to to him. Then he felt a shake on his shoulder, he looked up and saw that it was Amy.
"Amy," Phillip said jumping a bit. "What are you doing here?"
"I was calling you but you didn't answer so I called your friends and they said you'd be at the hospital. What's going on?"
"Amy I want you to know something," he got up from his chair and grabbed her shoulders. "I love you and I would never cheat on you."
"I know."
"Because if you don't know that then... Wait. Did you just say 'I know'?"
"Yes. I know you love me. I came because I'm worried about you. So what going on?"
Phillip sighed sadly and took Amy to the other side of the room.
"The girl here is named Jordi but she's part of our past. Amy, she's my sister; her name was Starr."
"Oh," Amy said saddened. "Has she woken up?"
"No, and I don't know if I want her to. You see..."
Then Phillip proceeded to tell Amy the shortened version of Starr's brave choice. After, Amy covered her mouth in shock and it looked like she was ready to cry.
"You have to tell her, Phillip."
"I don't know how. I mean, telling her she's my sister in a different life is one thing, but selling yourself for someone else's freedom is another. She doesn't know me, this'll probably be a huge shock to her."
As they were talking, Jordi started to stir. The two hedgehogs turned quickly so Amy went to to get the doctor. Phillip stayed behind trying to make his decision. Amy came back with the doctor, he walked over to Jordi.
"Miss," he said to his patient. "Do you know where you are?"
"Hos-hospital," the girl said weakly.
"Yes you are. What's the last thing you remember?"
When he asked that Jordi grew fear in her eyes; she started to whimper.
"Those eyes... Those green, reptile eyes... No... Why did you let me live?! Why?!"
Jordi started ranting and raving, eventually calming down to a sob.
"I'm going to have to ask you to leave the room," the doctor said to Phillip and Amy. The two escorted themselves out of the room and watched as the doctor calmed the hedgehog girl down.
"I can't tell her about Mephiles," Phillip said to Amy, he was staring at Jordi though. "She's dreaming about him, nightmares. If he knows about her, she'll be more important to him than me dead. Eighteen years, Amy. He had her for eighteen years. I'll tell her that I'm Shadow but I won't tell her about the Contract. I think she's been through enough."
Elsewhere in a large, dark castle, Mephiles walked around in his bedchamber looking at a picture of Starr. He did know, he knew that Starr was living as Jordi, that she tried to kill herself because of that demon, that she had unknowingly met her brother. He walked over to his mirror and swirled his finger around the frame to change the image. It went from the reflection to live footage of Jordi and Phillip talking. He decided he would make his move soon, very soon.
Phillip was helping Jordi get back into reality. He learned so much about her, she told him that she was studying to be a behavioural analysis and that she was at the top of her class.
"Studying a person's behaviour can tell you a lot about them," Jordi said to Phillip. "Like the way you're leaning closer to me and tapping you leg. That tells me something's troubling you about me."
Phillip paused for a moment and realized that he was leaning close to her and his left leg was jumping nervously.
"Man, you're good," Phillip chuckled. He leaned back and ran his fingers through this quills.
"Well, you know what's troubling me, so what's troubling you?"
Phillip didn't want this moment to come, but it did. He had no idea how he was going to tell her but he knew he had to, and it had to be private.
"I need to tell you something, but it has to be more private than the hospital. I'll talk to the doctor and see if you can get released."
An hour went by and Jordi was finally out of the hospital. Phillip took her to an abandoned warehouse where they could be alone.
"Why did you bring me here?" Jordi said looking around.
"Because it was the only place I know where someone can get privacy," he told her. "Now what I'm going to show you, you can't tell anyone, alright? You have to promise me."
"Alright, I promise."
Phillip raised a fist close to him ready to transform when a gust of wind entered the room. Phillip immediately wrapped his arms around Jordi to protect her. The gust of wind swirled around a few feet in front of the hedgehogs until it turned into a thick, purple cloud. Phillip knew immediately what, who, it was.
"Stay behind me," Phillip whispered to her. Jordi stayed behind him, holding onto his shoulders for comfort and mental support. "No weakness, no fear."
That last line Jordi thought he was saying more to himself, a reminder of how he should be acting. Then a figure appeared from the thick cloud.
"Alone at last," the dark figure said.
It was Mephiles.
