I own nothing. Nope, not a damn thing.

Amy woke up early on Saturday morning. Normally, she would have slept in until noon, but today was different. Today was the grand opening of Uncle Chuck's Chili Dogs and Amy's first day of her part-time job. She gave Sonic her resume and he told her to show up at the restaurant an hour before the opening. Even though she was supposed to arrive at 10, she woke up at six. The cherry blossom hedgehog was very eager to start her new job.

Amy hopped out of her bed and quickly dressed herself in a red sweater over a white T-shirt, brown shorts, black tights and red ankle boots. After placing her signature red, headband on her head, she complimented herself on a perfectly appropriate outfit for the autumn weather and a job interview.

At least, she hoped there would be a job interview. Sonic never did explain the details as to what will happen. Amy didn't believe that his uncle will just hire anybody that comes to his restaurant early.

"Oh Chaos, that's probably what's going to happen! Ugh…why do I get myself into this mess?" Amy groaned.

A knock on the door interrupted her train of thought, and Rob opened the door enough to poke his head in the room. "Why the hell are you up so early?" He yawned. His quills were still a bedhead mess and Amy could smell the coffee he had in his cup.

"I have an interview for a part-time job today. I want to look my best for it!" Amy half lied. She honestly wasn't sure if there will be an interview.

"So you actually found a job? Nice, but you really don't have to work…" He said rubbing the back of his neck. "Mari and I have everything covered."

"Yeah but I don't want to burden you guys anymore. I want to work hard and earn my own money."

"Cousin, you're not a burden. You're family. Now come on. Mari made breakfast."

Amy smiled and followed her cousin to the kitchen where the delicious aroma of a home-cooked breakfast awaited her.

Amy stepped off the train and looked at the directions Sonic wrote for her. Unfortunately, his handwriting was so bad that she asked Tails to send her a text message of the address. With that, Amy walked in the streets to her destination. Once realizing she was walking along the correct street, she placed her phone back into her pink satchel she carried.

Besides going to school, this was the first time Amy walked in the city alone. The streets were crowded even more so than usual, probably because it was the weekend. Mobians and humans filled the streets and the noise was constant as ever. Amy had to move quickly in order to stay out of someone's way.

After crossing the street, Amy found herself at her destination. The restaurant was a one story, orange building in the middle of a shopping district. It had a large sign that read: "Uncle Chuck's Chili Dogs" with a picture of an old blue hedgehog with a grey mustache next to it. The area was big enough to have three tables with umbrellas outside; something that reminded Amy of her old home. She checked her phone realizing that she was fifteen minutes early.

The glass doors opened to reveal Sonic running to hug her. "AMES! You made it! I was worried that you would get lost!" Sonic said in relief.

"Of course I would get lost!" Amy yelled showing Sonic his crudely written directions. "I can't make heads or tails of…whatever you wrote for me!"

"You're welcome!" Tails shouted from inside the building. Sonic rubbed the back on his neck embarrassed.

"Hey at least you made it! Come inside, I'll show you around." Sonic pushed Amy through the glass doors and into the restaurant. The building was a pleasant blend of blue, red and orange; the tables, chairs and booths were orange and red, while the general interior was blue. There was a serving area with large, digital menu over the head listing the different types of chili dogs and their prices. Amy was very impressed as Sonic pulled and pushed her way around.

"So you got table, chairs and booths for people to sit down once they place their order from the counter." Sonic pointed to the front where Tails was sitting on. "And when their orders are done, it'll be your job as the beautiful waitress," Sonic emphasized causing Amy to frown unimpressed. "To deliver their food to their tables."

"But wait…can't the customers just go up and get their food when it's down?" Amy questioned, but once she looked at Tails, the yellow kitsune just shook his head in dismal.

Sonic ignored her question and pulled her to the front behind the counter. He showed her the cash register and how to operate it. All the while, Amy wondered why she had not met his uncle yet. The guy who owed the restaurant. "Hey Sonic, where is your uncle? I want to meet him and introduce myself. I mean, I don't even know if I got the job."

Sonic looked at her oddly. "Ames. You got the job once you set foot in the restaurant."

SHE FUCKING KNEW IT!

"Besides, Uncle Chuck is—" Suddenly a loud explosion could be heard from the kitchen followed by a long string of swear words. "….he's in the kitchen."

The three teen ran into the kitchen to be greeted by a large cloud of smoke. They coughed and blew the smoke away. Tails ran to open the nearest window while Sonic quickly grabbed the fire extinguisher and blasted the foam at the emerging mass that was causing the smoke.

"ARGH! CHAOS DAMNIT! SONIC STOP!"

Once the smoke was cleared, Amy saw an old blue hedgehog with a grey mustache covered in white foam. His green eyes angrily glared at Sonic. "Nephew…what did I tell you about using the extinguisher?"

Sonic, realizing what he did, quickly hid the extinguisher behind his back. "Um…only let Tails use it…" He quickly threw the device away from him and to the nearest pile of glass plates. Uncle Chuck only sighed as he freed himself from the foam. The older hedgehog wore a dirty, black T-shirt with faded jeans, a forest green vest, a tool belt and brown boots. To Amy, he looked very healthy for a 70 year-old.

Tails folded his arms. "Uncle. What are you doing? I thought I said that you weren't allowed in the kitchen." For the way Tails said that, someone would think he was running the restaurant.

"Listen nephew. I had the perfect idea to increase the cooker to make chili fries 20% faster than normal. But instead the damn fucker blew up on me!" Chuck pointed to the broken machine that was attached to the fryer.

"Uncle Chuck! You're not supposed to mess with this equipment! This is all brand new stuff that doesn't need to be ruined by your ideas! For Chaos' sake, this place was bought with half of Sonic's college funds!" Tails screamed.

"Wait! My what—?!"

Uncle Chuck waved a hand in Sonic's face. "Don't worry about it nephew. I'll make more money in week once this place opens up! Now Tails, go change the menu, because we won't be having chili fries for a while."

Tails groans and stomped out of the kitchen to change the menu, once again. Uncle Chuck quickly pulled Sonic to his side and whispered to him. "Hey nephew. Who's the pink lady? I told you not let hobos in my place."

Amy stomped her foot. "I'm NOT a hobo mister!"

Sonic pinched the bridge of his nose. "Uncle Chuck. That's Amy."

"Who?"

"You know, the new waitress. I told you yesterday. I gave you her resume to look at."

The old hedgehog snorted. "You know I don't read that crap." He moved past Sonic and gave Amy a pat on her shoulder. "Welcome to the team…um…"

"Amy. Amy Rose."

"Nice you meet you. Call me 'Uncle' or 'Chuck'." Charles gave Amy firm and quick handshake. "My only rule is for you not to blow shit up. But I can tell you're not like Sonic, so you'll do nicely, little lady."

"…um….thank you?"

"You're welcome! Alright kiddos clean this place up and get into uniform! We open in thirty minutes and I can already hear the line of people gathering outside!"

Sonic, Amy and Tails remained quiet enough to hear the people outside. There were none.

Once Chuck went into the back to change into professional attire, Tails gave Sonic the broom and gave Amy a sympathetic look. "That's our uncle."

"He seems…." Amy began, but she couldn't find a decent word to describe the strange old hedgehog.

"Like an asshole?" The two adopted brothers finished for her. Amy couldn't help but nod.

Tails chuckled. "It's okay Amy. In our circle, if you realize our uncle is an asshole, then you're still our friend."

Amy giggled at the comment. "I guess that's where Sonic gets it from."

Tails laughed at the pink hedgehog's joke and Sonic grinned in amazement. "OH! Look whose got jokes!" Sonic pulled Amy into a headlock while the group continued to laugh.

Afterwards, while Sonic was in charge of cleaning his uncle's mess, Tails showed Amy the break room; a small room with tables, chairs, lockers, a refrigerator, a microwave, a drink machine and a small television. He gave her a locker with stored her work uniform; an orange and red striped shirt and red, waist high, skirt with a matching apron. Amy had to admit that the uniform was very stylish and had to wonder what do the boys' uniform looked like. Tails showed her the same uniform, but it was blue instead of red and the boys had a blue pants.

The two went into their gender specific restrooms to change. Once Sonic was finished cleaning, he changed into uniform too. Amy and Tails tucked their shirts in, but Sonic opted not to, claiming how they look like such dorks.

Ten minutes left before opening and Uncle Chuck gave the trio an assignment to clean the outside tables and sweep the streets away from trash. Strangely enough, the only one who was committed to working hard was…Sonic. The blue hedgehog cleaned and polished the chairs and table about three times before looking underneath inspecting for gum. This frightened Tails and Amy to no end.

"FUCK! There's a fresh wad of gum under this chair!" He exclaimed furiously. "Tails check for anymore gum. I'm getting the scraper!" Sonic ran back in the building in a flash. Tails threw his cleaning rag on the ground deciding to instead sit on the chair.

"Um…" Amy began. "I never thought that Sonic was very hard-worker."

"He's not." Tails assured her. "In case you forgot, the Acorns will be having a business meeting with Uncle Chuck today. So Sally will probably be here too."

Upon hearing that, Amy quickly understood Sonic's strange behavior. "How long has Sonic liked Sally?"

"For as long as I can remember…" Tails pondered. "He and Sally were best friends in grade school, but Sally just kind of distance towards Sonic over the next few years, and by high school, she got her own group of friends. But Sonic stayed committed….hopelessly, foolishly committed."

"But if you guys knew that Sally won't be with Sonic, why not—"

Amy was interrupted by the loud engine of a motorcycle pulling up on the curb. Upon closer inspection, Amy noticed that it was Shadow's signature motorcycle. Shadow was on the bike and behind him wrapped around his waist was Rouge. The engine died down as he parked the bike, and the two took off their helmets. Shadow wore a red T-shirt, black skinny pants and the leather jacket he wore during school. Rouge wore a black tank top—which accented her boobs perfectly— underneath a jean jacket, leather shorts, pink tights and black, heeled, ankle boots.

Rouge hopped off the bike first and made her way to her friends with Shadow following behind. "Hey guys! Your uniforms are so cute!" She waved from far.

Amy smiled and hugged the bat. "Thanks. I didn't think you two were coming. I thought you were busy…and grounded." Amy eyed Shadow, who rolled his eyes.

"Shadow's Facebook status stays 'Grounded'." Rouge clarified with a smirk at her darker friend. "Besides, we had to see my friends in their opening jobs and support them."

Shadow placed his hands in his pockets. "Plus, we wanted to see Sonic look like an idiot in front of the Acorns."

"We were actually talking about him and Sally before you guys showed up." Tails mentioned.

"You mean the 'Hit Couple' in Sonic's Imagination?" Shadow asked. Once he said that, Sonic emerged from the building with the scrapper in his hand.

"Ha ha ha, laugh it up now, Shadow. You won't be laughing when me and Sally get married with two kids and living happily ever after in our kickass mansion!" Sonic said while furiously scrapping the gum from the chair.

Amy leaned towards Tails and whispered: "Oh my Chaos…he's got it bad…"

"You have no idea." Rouge whispered back overhearing the conversation.

Once Sonic removed the wad of gum, he ordered Shadow to throw it away, but the ebony hedgehog bluntly refused. Then came the shouting and name calling and before Amy could blink, they were wrestling on the ground attempting to stick the dirty gum in each other's mouths.

"Boy that didn't last long." Rouge folded her arms.

While Sonic and Shadow were screaming at each other, Uncle Chuck stormed outside and noticed the two hedgehogs fighting. He quickly snatched the broom Amy was holding and proceeded to the beat the living crap out of Shadow and Sonic. The boys yelled for Uncle Chuck to stop.

"UNCLE STOP IT!"

"GET OFF OLD MAN!"

"IF YOU TWO DON'T STOP MAKING SO MUCH NOISE…!"

For the next three minutes, Amy, Tails and Rouge had to watch Charles scolded and occasionally pounded the two hedgehogs to behave during the grand opening. All the while, a crowd of Mobians have gathered for the spectacular grand opening of Uncle Chuck's Chili Dogs, only to be greeted by an old man whooping on his "nephews" outside the front door of the building.

Amy was relieved that Sally wasn't here to see Sonic like this.

I hope that nobody expected Amy's first job to be normal. I hope that nobody expected Uncle Chuck to be normal either. What is normal at this point? When the restaurant doesn't burn to the ground.
