They woke up hearing screams that night. One moment they were sleeping peacefully, and the next they shot up upon hearing blood-curling cries and the sound of cars wailing. Ahsoka looked at the alarm clock. 2:38 AM. What can be happening at so early in the morning, she thought as she quickly pulled up her boots and outfit. By the time she got to the main foyer the others were already up, except for Jack who was only coming in yawning and in his pants.

''What was that racket?,'' Melody asked as she hitched up her belt and lightsaber.

''I have no clue, but it seems to be coming from the outside,'' Alex responded. A scream was heard at that moment and Ahsoka rushed to the window.

''Uh, guys you have to really see this.''

The 3 of them rushed to the window sill, and what they saw made them look twice: their were people walking or, rather, shambling with a strange gait and they were emitting chilling deep-throated moans, like they were in pain. Even in the darkness they could make them out from the street lamps. But the weirdest thing of all was what some of them were doing. They were crouching over something and were taking chunks out of it and ravenously eating like an animal.

''What are they chewing on?''

''I don't know, maybe meat?''

''Okay, but where is it coming from?''

The silence between them said that they did not want to know. Ahsoka suddenly recalled a similar incident to over a year ago, during the Second Battle of Geonosis when she encountered the Queen Geonosian and fought her worms when one took over a clone trooper and and spread the parasite onboard. Barriss and her fought them off. Barriss...

''Shall we fight them?,'' Melody asked suddenly and igniting her lightsaber.

''What's holding us back?,'' Alex replied. They opened the window and jumped out. Jack quickly pulled on a shirt and grabbed a blaster.

''Wanna come?,'' Jack questioned as he leaned over the window.

Ahsoka grinned. What was holding her back? Nothing except this wall. She stood on the window frame and said ''Wanna come with me?''

''I'll take the stairs.''

She jumped and gracefully landed like a feather, her lightsaber hissing to life all the while. She scanned the area. There was nothing here. Yet looks can be deceiving. She almost choked, the Dark Side practically radiated from these beasts and settled into a fog, clogging her senses.

She heard the chilling moan again and it was directly behind her. She stabbed back without hesitation. Only there was a little problem: the guy was still groaning, louder than ever now. Ahsoka looked back dumbfounded. It was in the chest! Stabs in the chest were always fatal!

How is that even possible? she thought.

She retracted and plunged it again, right where she thought one of the lungs would be. It didn't even slow it down; if anything it was doing that noise louder than ever. She sensed that others were coming to her vicinity.

I need to end this now.

She took out the lightsaber, and quickly slashed it across across the head. The top came off easily and the now limp body slid to the ground.

Her stomach churned in protest. That's the way they're defeated? Wow...

She looked around. Several figures were approaching her position. Outside that area, she heard the sounds of a battle going on, the familiar hum of a lightsaber or the shots of a blaster. There was more screaming, faraway or nearby, and more slug guns and blasters from policemen and bystanders appeared with a lot of yelling.

''They just keep on coming!''

''Where do they come from anyway?''

''I don't know, just keep fighting!''

She jabbed her lightsaber into a slimy undead's cranium and used the Force to throw it at another one. Just as they were going to surround and devour her, she jumped several meters into the air. All the while she hurled her lightsaber and used the Force to guide it to sever their upper skulls from the rest of their bodies. They crumpled to the ground like simple rag dolls and laid still.

She looked behind her to make sure they were permanently dead, but then she looked in front of her and saw more shambling toward her.

She fought them. She sliced at their heads with dazzling speed and they toppled like dominoes. Suddenly, a cold arm grabbed her from behind and tenaciously fought it upward. Her eyes flashed at her attacker and she met cold, soulless eyes deprived of anything that had once made it a living being.

Ahsoka was just about to off it, but a raspberry-colored blade got to it first. When it fell, she looked to see that it was Melody.

''Having fun yet?,'' she teasingly asked.

The Togruta grinned ''Are you kidding? I've barely started.''

''Well, I'm going back to Alex,'' the other said and quick as a leaf in a blowing wind, she went to another direction.

Ahsoka looked for them. She was getting worried, for she knew that being alone was dangerous in a battle like this. Through the chaos of mutilation and random shots by other participants, she finally saw them battling side by side. What she saw reminded her so much of what her and Anakin used to be. They fought as one and whenever one or the other was in danger, they hit the opponent back twice as hard. They were simply the right and left sides of a body. They way they fought created the impression of Form I in how easy they were battling them. In fact, it vaguely looked like Form I...

Then she glanced at Jack, and saw that he was a perfect marksman, hitting his intended targets every time and always with a cool face that would have said that this was a minor annoyance.

Ahsoka realized that she had worthy, if young, allies whom she could fight beside. Impressing her in the train incident, stamping her on this one.

In several minutes the battle died down, and all those who aided one other stood around confused as to whether they keep on, or do something else.

Finally, someone broke the silence.

''What the hell just happened?!''

''We just vanquished the living dead, that's what happened!''

''But where did they come from?''

''What if they come back?''

The murmur of voices rose as people discussed what happened. Many of the questions were essentially the same; where did these zombies come from?

But now the police tried to restore order, and they were calling hospitals and morgues to check out bodies and bring injured people to the ER, while they restored order and try to see what to do.

Ahsoka looked for her friends in the crowd and located them trying to talk to each other. They looked a little worse for wear, but otherwise okay.

''What do you think they came from?,'' Melody asked.

''I don't know,'' Alex replied, rubbing his temples ''I'm trying to use my powers, but so far, nothing!''

''Well, keep thinking!,'' quipped Jack.

''Excuse me, but I don't see you doing anything!,'' he shot back.

''I can't do what you're doing!''

''Then do something!''

''What!''

''Anything!''

Before it could devolve to fists, Ahsoka broke them apart.

''Uh, guys we have a little something more important right now-!'' A small boy, perhaps no older than 8, tapped then.

''I think I know where they came from,'' he shyly said. All 8 eyes, Nautolan, Nyeeron, Zabrak, and Togruta turned to him.

''Where?,'' Melody demanded.

He pointed his finger down the street. ''There was a man hole where they came from, down the street. I saw them. They were scary-looking.''

Thanks for the obvious kid, thought Jack.

''Thank you for the info, young one,'' Melody gently said. The boy simply blushed and Alex gave him a glare. It was well-known that his friend was a good one, and he didn't take well to jealousy

Ahsoka noticed this, made all the more obvious by the dawn breaking through, and nudged him.

''Jealous much,'' she teased.

He snorted. ''You wish.'' Turning his attention back, he asked ''Can you lead us through?''

The youngest nodded eagerly and took Melody's light green hand into his, then led them on. It took only 10 minutes, but yet it almost seemed like eternity.

''There, there it is,'' he pointed and sure enough it was only down the street and now a few yards away.

The Nyeeron smiled kindly at him and said ''Thanks, now go and find your parents, 'kay?''

He hurried off, and Melody looked back at her friends.

''So that's where they came from?''

''It appears so,'' Jafar replied

''High chance of death?''

''Perhaps.''

''Well,'' she looked back at them and grinned.

''What are we waiting for?''

She jumped in.

Well, do you like it? I'm going to have to stop for now and say that I am gonna take some time off to focus on school and gather all my notes together and finalize them. I won't abandon the story, I just want to take some time off for now. But as reviewing is the life and sustenance that maintains the story, please write and tell me what I can improve on.
