Hello everybody! I am dreadfully sorry about the long wait, I've been very busy but frankly there are no excuses, so I apologize. Thank you all for your endless support, and I hope that you enjoy this chapter.

Chapter Ten

That night, Skye was woken by the sound of a small object repeatedly hitting her window. She groggily got out of bed and looked at the clock. 2:04. What on earth could somebody need at this hour?! She walked over to the window and saw a pajama clad Jeffrey standing there, holding pebbles that he was preparing to throw. When he saw her he waved and motioned for her to come down. She gave him a questioning look and he just motioned again. She walked away from the window and shook her head. What was this boy up too now? She pulled her hair into a messy bun and slipped on her flip flops. She then tiptoed out of her room, down the stairs, and out the door. She met Jeffrey outside the door.

"What on earth are we doing?!" she asked in a whisper-yell.

"I wanna take a walk," he said. "Come on, let's good." He was beyond belief. A walk at two in the morning? Really?! She rolled her eyes but consented either way. They started to walk.

"Where are we even going?" asked Skye.

"Wherever we end up. Let's turn this way," he said. Skye was pretty sure that he had a destination in mind.

"Gee thanks, Mr. Mystery."

"You're quite welcome, Miss Maddening."

"Don't you dare call me that." The two of them laughed and walked along the path. Jeffrey clearly knew where he was going, but Skye hadn't the faintest idea. They were no longer on the path that they had traveled on earlier in the week. She was curious and her energy seemed to have returned to her.

"So," he said. "Do you still want to be an astrophysicist?"

"Yes, and you know that. If I didn't know better, I'd say that you're nervous about something." He shrugged it off, but Skye saw a small blush appear on his face. They walked for a while longer and Skye began seriously wondering if something was wrong. After they exchanged jokes at the beginning, Jeffrey had hardly talked. She decided that she would ask. She needed to ask. She stopped walking and turned to him.

"Is something wrong?"

"No, but we're here. Turn around." Skye did, and gasped. Before her was a beautiful flower garden. Everything was covered in flowers of all varieties. Roses, chrysanthemums, tulips and many more that she didn't even know the names of. It looked like something out of one of Jane' books. Something that Skye usually would hate. Yet something, she didn't know what, made her love it. There was one brass bench surrounded by roses.

"Oh Jeffrey," she said. "This is amazing. But I still don't understand. Why are we here?"

"Let's sit down," he said, and they did. "Okay. It's taken me awhile to work up the courage to do this."

"Courage to do what?"

"Shh, let me finish. The thing is Skye, I really like you."

"Yeah, well no duh, I like you too."

"No, I mean like like."

"Oh." Skye was quiet for a minute. This couldn't be true. This couldn't be real. This couldn't be happening! But it was. And she knew she needed to tell him that she felt so too, otherwise he would assume she didn't.

"Well," she said. "You're in luck, because I do too."

"It's okay that you don't, I understand-wait, what? You do?!" She grinned.

"Yes, you dumbo!" And that was when it started to rain. But it didn't seem to bother the two of them much. They leaned in slowly and shared a truly wonderful first kiss. And for just one moment, they were beyond joy, beyond bliss, beyond paradise. They were as happy as they could be. And they loved it.

Ta da! I hope you all enjoyed that. Thank you all so much for waiting. Please review.
