Alfendi walked towards the town hall, it was a suitably large building covered in dull red paint. It was more like a barn with a sign that read 'Town Hall' nailed above the doorway. The sky had darkened significantly and the streets were empty as it was near midnight.

The main doors were slightly ajar and it was pitch black inside. The doors creaked like nails on a chalkboard as Alfendi pushed them open. The only light was the dim moonlight that shon through the slightly opened doors.

Al took one step inside, a cold mist swept through the barn and he stood there for a moment. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness he saw rows of chairs. They were facing the end of the room at a large pedestal for a speaker and a few chairs behind that for the council.

"Hello Alfendi", a man said in an oddly familiar weathered voice.

Al stood still, calmly waiting for the man to approach him. He could feel a slight pain in his forehead as he held back potty prof.

"Hello father." Alfendi clenched his fists and teeth.

"Please, call me Hershal!" He said in a hushed tone. "For... privacy reasons."

He stepped into the light and held his hand out. Al dismissed the gentleman-like gesture as he was concentrating on keeping his hot tempered side in control. He simply stared at his father.
Hershal took a letter from his pocket. It was neatly folded into a thick manilla envelope and on it was written:-

'To Alfendi'

"The information you'll need for your new life."

Al decided not to open it until later.

"That's all?"

"Well... Almost."

Hershal whispered something to Alfendi "47... S3... 13... 2"

"That's all I'm allowed to tell you"

At that Hershal tipped his hat and walked out to the back entrance of the community hall, he left Alfendi to think about what he had said.

Just before he walked out if sight

"Don't worry she's fine!" He whispered back in a calm tone.

George walked in a few minutes later and asked. "Need a ride?"
"Yes thanks" Alfendi replied.
"No problem, I couldn't just leave you here alone at night."
Al sat into the passenger seat of the county police car.

"I can't let civillians sit in the front it's protocal-"

"I'm an officer at Scoltand Yard. You know that don't you?"

"Fine. But don't go telling people who you really are from now on."

Al almost fell asleep with the calming sound of silence, the fact that he was excited to finally get to see Lucy again was keeping him from doing so. The only other sound was the cars engine slowly humming as they went into the forest clearing.

The car rolled to a stop outside if the cabin. Alfendi fumbled for the handle and wearily stepped out. He said goodbye to George before the car drove off.

- The Next Day -

Alfendi woke up bright and early despite only having a few hours of sleep.

He remembered the code his father had told him ' 47... S3... 13... 2 '

He interpreted these as room coordinates but still wasn't sure where.

He pulls the envelope out of his pocket and places it on his small wooden table. He was careful not to tear the letters inside the bulky envelope and slowly opened it.

Inside the envelope it contains-

- Details of his new 'life'

- A list of trustworthy people (meaning they know of his 'condition' and 'circumstances')

and

- A small pocket diary to keep notes

1st letter

We have word that you had already chosen your new name. Clever.

You will be staying in the cabin as you already know.

Please do not make a scene or cause any trouble.

In another letter your 'friends' in town will be listed and they will be able to help you.

We will be monitoring you for your own safety and you have nothing to worry about.

Do it for Lucy,

If not for yourself.

2nd letter

Here are a list of people who you can talk to if you need anything they have been informed of your situation and will help you.

Sheriff George, your neighbours Dave and Elizabeth, Teddy a lumber mill worker and Alice, she works at the tavern most days.

After a short nap he woke up at 6.30 to take a shower for a quick wash and then brushes his teeth. He takes his neatly folded lab coat from a shelf and places it on the corner of his bed. As Al finished dressing himself a loud knock disturbed his silent thoughts but he decides to hide and wait until the visitor left.

"FOURTY SEVEN!" a woman's voice called out from behind the door. He sighed and concluded that it was possibly important to talk to her. He grabbed his coat and placed a small container in the pocket.

It almost sounded like she said four to seven. His watch showed the time was four past seven so he dismissed his thoughts and walked towards the door. Taking a deep breath he turned the handle and stepped outside.

"Well Mister..."
"Alastair"
"Nice to meet you" She reached out her hand and he just looked down to her outstretched arm.
There was a pause as Al impatiently shuffled from one foot to the other. He looked at the black Cadillac on the path and back to the woman.
"Shall we go then?" She asked gesturing to the car.
Another awkward silence was filled by the sounds of birds calls.
She sat in the drivers seat while Al got into the passenger seat.
"Seatbelt" She said redundantly as Al already had his on and so did she.

The car sped down the dirt track, Alfendi had to hold down his stomach contents.

As they reached the hospital Al quickly clambered towards the trash can and threw up. He never thought a speed down a dangerous track could make his life flash before his eyes. His hair turned a hellish red as he stormed back to the car and slammed the door. The woman looked over him in shock, not because of his sudden change but because of the way he treated her car.

She drove off slowly as she waved back with a fake smile plastered onto her face.

(Don't ask me why Hershal was allowed to visit Alfendi even though his location was supposed to be secret... Well if you must know... He figured it out and demanded to see his son one last time, just in case he'd never have another chance... There...)
