AN: Heyy! I'm back again! This is the 10th chapter already! I know it took me quite long again, but I had to figure out the plot for later on... (Don't worry, no spoilers ;) ) Anyway, I decided to do this: I post the second chapter as soon as I have at least 3 reviews. That must be easy for you, as I look at the number of people reading this! ;) Enjoy!

Chapter 10: Third Class Bride

'Eva! Eva! Stop!', I scream.
Eva looks around and I see her eyes, which are full of pain. She puts a pistol against her head an looked at me. I want to run to her, but I stay still.
'Eva, please! Don't do this to me!', I cry.
She keeps looking at me as I try to reach her.
'Eva…'
She turns away and looks down. Then she pulls the trigger. Without any sound, the scene continues. Eva's body falls to the ground, the gun next to her. Blood streams away from her, to me. There it starts to form letters, then words, and then everything disappears.

Fabrizio woke up. What part of the day was it? He checked his pocket watch; almost time for lunch. Lunch… He heard Eva's voice and remembered their first times together. Then he thought about why he was asleep again, hadn't he been awake already? He remembered Jack bringing him back to his cabin after he had walked away. I must have fallen asleep after that, he thought. He also thought about the moment he first saw her. She was perfect, he had thought. He stared at the ceiling. 'I should have proved you I loved you…', he whispered.

'I should have proved you I loved you…', Tommy said softly.
He had visited Eva's room when her fiancé and parents were out for breakfast. He was secretly hoping to find answers there, but the only thing he had found was her engagement ring. He had taken it with him and was looking at it in his room. It was beautiful and it looked expensive… Shouldn't he bring it back? No, this was the only thing he had from Eva now. And he wasn't going to lose it. There was a knock on the door. 'Come in!', Tommy said.
It was Helga. 'Come to lunch?', she asked.
'No, I'm not hungry.', Tommy said, thinking Fabrizio must have said the same thing.
'But…', she said.
Did she know about Eva's death? Tommy wasn't sure.
'I know it.', she said and sat down next to Tommy.
She can read my mind, Tommy thought with a little smile. Helga noticed him, holding the ring. She knew it was from Eva, because it was too expensive for any of the others to afford, except for Rose.
'I help you?', she asked.
'You can't Helga, I just have to be alone.', Tommy said.
Helga put her hand on Tommy's shoulder and said: 'Don't be sad.'
Tommy smiled and told her again he just needed some time. He also told Helga that she shouldn't worry about others all the time. Helga just stared at the ground for a while after he said that. Then she stood up and left the room in silence.

Back in the other room, Fabrizio was still lying in his bed. As long as no one had come to ask him to go to lunch, he thought they must be there already. But he was wrong, after a few minutes Jack came in, together with Rose. 'I see you're awake, Fabri. Slept well?', Jack asked.
'No. I dreamt about Eva… killing herself.', he said, not wanting anyone to keep him company.
'Fabrizio…', Rose said, 'It's horrible what she did to herself, but you don't get her back like this. She'll never come back… You have to accept that. How about Helga? You two seem to like each other a lot...'
Helga! Fabrizio hadn't even thought about her for a second. She is a sweet girl, he thought, but is it okay to be with her now Eva isn't here anyone? That wouldn't be fair to Helga, he thought. But he loved Helga, didn't he? He loved Eva more. 'Okay, I come with you. You're right Rose, I have to forget about Eva.', Fabrizio said.
'Good. And… We have something to tell you…', Rose said, holding Jack's hand.
Fabrizio got out of his bunk and walked to them, showing a little smile. 'What is it?', he said.
'We'll tell you later, first get ready for lunch!', Jack laughed.

Up in first class, in Eva's room, John Hockley was investigating Eva's bedroom. He wanted to know exactly what happened and thought here would be some clues. All he saw was laundry hanging over chairs and on the ground. In the corner he saw a little trash can. He walked towards it and saw crammed notes in it. He sat down next to it and opened one of the papers. In a tortuous handwriting it said:

Dear Fabrizio,

I'm sorry… Just so sorry… I never meant to leave you! I love you. But I didn't love my life. I realized I would never be able to marry you, or even be with you! The thought that I had to leave you after we arrive in New York... I couldn't take that. I hope that you understand now…

Lots of love,

Eva

So it was true… She was in love with this Fabrizio guy! Eveline had told John all about him and another third class guy. He wanted to slap Eva. Kick her, punch her. But he couldn't. Instead of getting more angry he opened another thrown-away note. This one was addressed to him.

John,

I hate you and I felt like this was the only way to get rid of you. I killed myself.

Eva.

This made him angry. She didn't even write Dear John… Just… John, like it was some kind of an announcement. He turned his hands into fists, but he could control himself. He decided to have lunch, but he had no idea where Eva's parents were. Not that he cared, anyway. He walked to his brother's cabin, at least his fiancée was still alive, which was a miracle because Cal acted horrible when he was alone with her. He knew that, because Rose wasn't Cal's first fiancee. When Cal saw John, he said he was sorry for what happened to Eva, but there was no emotion on his face. For one second, John thought Cal killed Eva, but he ignored the thought. They walked away, just the two of them, to have lunch.

Meanwhile in third class, Fabrizio and Jack were having lunch too. They talked about everything but Eva, Helga and Rose. Jack really needed some time without mentioning any girls, like it used to be between them. He felt like their friendship was fading. They were torn apart by their new girlfriends. Just then Rose came in and she searched the room for Jack. 'Jack, Rose is here, she is probably looking for you…', Fabrizio whispered.
Jack looked around and saw Rose. He waved at her. 'Sorry Fabri, I wanted to have some time without girls, but I can't ignore Rose now.', he said.
Fabrizio just nodded. He was fine with it. Rose waved back and walked to their table. When she came closer, Jack and Fabrizio noticed she had a suitcase with her. When she noticed them looking at it, she said: 'I left Cal. And I thought… maybe there was a place for me to sleep down here.'
Jack just laughed. 'Of course there is! We'll figure something out.', he told her.
'Ehh… Fabrizio?', Rose asked nervously.
'Yes?', he answered, a little confused.
'Do you know where Helga is? I was thinking of trading a dress with her, so that I don't stand out down here…', she said.
'No, I'm not sure where she is, I haven't seen her today… I guess she's in here somewhere, having lunch with her parents.', he said in a neutral voice.
'Oh okay, I'm going to search for her. Is it okay if I leave my suitcase here for a while?', she said.
'Sure.'

Rose walked away, looking for Helga. She felt everyone was looking at her. In first class, she was just one of the many pretty girls, but here she seemed to be the only one. Then she noticed Helga, staring at her. She was indeed having lunch with her parents and she walked to the table. 'Helga?', she started.
'Yes?', Helga replied.
'Do you have a simpler dress for me? I will give you one from me for it… if you like.', Rose asked shyly.
Helga jumped up happily. 'Yes! Come with me!', she yelled, pulling Rose along to her cabin.

A few minutes later, Rose came back in one of Helga's Norwegian dresses. Helga wasn't wearing Rose's dress yet, but Rose had given it to her. Both of the girls walked back to their tables. Rose sat down next to Jack. 'We had something to tell Fabrizio, right? I guess we can tell him now.', Rose said, with a nervous smile.
'Yes you had! What is it?', Fabrizio asked.
Rose and Jack shot each other a look before saying: 'We're getting married!'
'M-Married?!', Fabrizio said surprised.
'You… don't like it?', Rose said.
'Of course I like it! Congratulations! It just came a little… unexpected!', he chuckled, 'So where's the ring?', Fabrizio joked.
'We don't have one yet, but that's okay!', Rose smiled at Jack.
'I'll buy you one as soon as we're in New York!', Jack promised.
