I do jot own TMNT... whaaaa!
In a quiet part of New York lay a building which seemed to be desolate the eye. Yet it held a dark and powerful gaze that scanned buildings and made them cower in fear.
And upon the sky of the dark night it lay, searing the blackness with it's poison. Not even the bright canopy of the heavens could slice the bitter darknees.
Men, women, and children bowed their worried heads as they passed, for fear of being spotted. Spotted by the great beasts that roamed freely within the building. Beasts of all shapes and sizes, beasts who looked like the great animals from rome. And every once on a blue moon you may see one step into the pale moon light (or as the tale goes).
No beautiful bird that shines with many colours or the bravest of hearts would dare to step in the tower's mighty shadow.
The powerful building stood to it's fullest, carefully gliding upwards with skill and craft to a sharp and deathly point which cuts all things. Like the great mountains, it stood.
But what lay inside was more dangerous, more deadly than the black building in which it held. Inside it was as black as the deepest of nights and bright light lit up the rooms and caves within.
Men and woman strolled around, each with a smirk upon their faces. They were eager to get to their task today, because today was the day they had caught it. Caught the thing which crept upon the ground. Oh how they despise it! When it looks at them a with blank and expressionless eyes they sneer. They make fun of the poor creature and treat it like the dust that lay upon the earth.
They pat each other on the backs for creating the poison which holds the animal at bay. They snip peices of it's blue mask and put it in their black coats.
#1. That is this poor animal's name. It's real name is hidden from sight, so that no one will know. Nor beast, nor bird, nor man.
And all the while his family search, all but the right place. Will they know where their sick brother lay? Maybe, if one looks hard enough and will dare pass the black twisted metal of the gates.
But we know his name, Leonardo, the fearless Leader...
"So? Where is he?" The voice places his thumbs out in front of him like a pointed tower. He leand back against the stiff brown chair all the while looking at the papers that sit on his black desk. He eyed them carefully, not paying heed to the two shuffling men in front him. If anything, they looked quite comical as they twitched about. He knew they were dying to get out of his wide as the ocean office. And he would let them go. Just not yet.
"In the containment facilitie, sir." Said the one as he suffled his fingers behind his back, looking away from the voice that lay in shadow.
The voice smirked, his eyes twinkling with amusement. He jutted his square chin and nodded. "Be off."
"But sir? Aren't we going to create an antidote for this turtle like creature?"
He waved a hand in dismissal. "There is no cure."
"But sir! You haven't you forgot about-"
"Enough!" The man dressed in shadow stood to his feet and just like the tower outside, he stood over the two younger men. Their faces turned red and they scurried out of his shadow like two lost mice.
The man dressed in shadow pulled his overall coat firmly together. "Get out of my sight now!"
They nodded and both walked quickly to the door, like two mice running for their lives from a giant cat! Their inards twisted into tight knots, then undoing and doing up again.
The sliding door slipped shut quietly behind them as they walked out, and they hid their fear as they pushed people out of their way.
"Next time you go in there!" Said one of the men
The other tried to still the snake rolling around in his spine. "Let's just get this over with Nickle." He hissed.
"Fine, fine!" Nickel held up his arms. "Just don't you dare come begging back to me!"
They strutted past rooms and into skinny hallways and then to the containment facilitie.
Nikel stopped dead in his tracks, putting a hand over his chest. "Wow. The poison really did a number to this poor guy." Glancing down the other guy took in the sight before him.
Leo lay lifeless on a bed, while beads of sweat poured down his face. His skin was a horrible grey greenish colour and his eyelids ran rampant as the beginning of another nightmare took over.
"Well this 'poor guy' is giving us ths edge we need. Now cool it!"
Nikel nodded. He had to think about the mission. But Nickel was a soft hearted guy, despite his reputation. 'Perhaps there is a way to complete the mission and save this poor guy as well.' But the thought soon drifted as the two left the room. They had work to do.
"Leo!" Screamed Raph's scratchy voice as he ran, glancing this way and that, stopping occasionally to look in small corners. He screeched to a halt, cuffed his hands together over his mouth and bellowed "Leeeeeoooooo!" so loud and so fierce that his hole body caved in as he breathed.
"Raph!" Mikey called running to meet his older brother. "Did you find Leo?!" Mikey's body tensed, his shoulders pulled back like a slingshot.
"No." Raph rubbed his hands together as they shook with the feeling of excitement. "Mikey, I want you stay in the sewer and look some more down here. I'll be up top. If something happens I want you to call me!" He wedged a finger between the thick air that held them. "Go!" Raph clenched his jaw as he scurried towards the ladder.
Mikey nodded quickly.
"Leo!" Raph barred his teeth and growled as he reached the top. "This is SO not good!" Raph craned his neck from side to side as he ran.
He quickly pulled out his T-Phone and punched in April's speed dial.
"Raph! Did you find Leo?" Came April's frantic voice.
"No! He didn't double back to the lair then?"
"No... Raph, what if we can't find him?"
Raph's stomach tingled. Something wasn't right. "Don't worry April. We'll find him." He pulled to a halt and scanned the city for any signs of Leo.
"How's Donnie doing?" Came Raph's raspy voice. 'Come on Leo! You have to be here somewhere!'
"He's still out of it. I cleaned up his wounds and put on some gauze, but I don't think it will do much good." April moaned.
"Don't loose faith, April." And with that Raph shattered the connection and hit Mikey's speed dial.
"Yo!" Came Mike's voice.
"You didn't find anything ether?" Raph's shoulders visibly slouched.
"No..."
"We'll do a couple more rounds then double back to the lair." Raph curled his hands into balls.
"Gottcha! Meet you back!" Then the connection ended with a snap!
How were they going to find Leo in the huge city!?
April took a deep breath as she placed a warm and soft blanket over Donnie. Her stumach fluttered as she looked into his stone cold face. After Raph, Mikey, and April found Donnie they quickly placed him on the table before Raph and Mikey ran off to search for Leo.
April had learned a bit of First Aid from Donnie, so she knew what to do. She had placed gauze pads and bandages around and on him, before carefully lifting up his head and placing a pillow under his head. That was now two hours ago, and nothing has improved. Leo hadn't been seen and Donnie was still out of it.
"Miss. April? What is going on?"Came a caring voice from behind.
April wheeled around, half expecting to see Leo standing in the doorway with a bright smile on his face.
"Oh man Leo! You came back! I was sure you-" She stopped dead in her tracks and yelped! Her face was mingled with disappointment and joy, like lemonade with too many lemons.
A blank look flashed across Splinter's face.
"I wasn't expecting to see you, Master Splinter!" April blushed, clasping her arm firmly behind her back with her hand.
"You didn't answer my question, Miss. April." Splinter pressed his lips in a thin line. "Please, explain."
April looked down at her shoes while gaining her thought. She cleared her throat and begun. "As you know, Leo was sick. Well the sickness effected Donnie as well. Mikey, Raph and me went looking for some Tylenol, I can't remember what kind, and when we came back Leo was gone." She emphasized her point by pointing to the empty table. "Donnie was out when we found him, probably with a concussion. He had major bleeding to his head and some on his arm and leg." She took a breath. If only she had stayed with Donnie. Then none of this would have happened. "We also believe he broke his leg... I'm sorry Master Splinter." She bowed her head in shame. If only...
"Do not worry, April. My sons will find Leo and bring him home to us where he can be healed." Splinter held a strong posture as he walked to the couch.
This was the SECOND time the Splinter brushed off his son's pain! Did he not see what kind of trouble Leo and Donnie were both in?!
April stood wide eyed with her arms as stiff as steel. "What?! D-did you NOT listen to what I just said!? Leo is gone, Donnie is down and he is the ONLY ONE who can cure Leo and himself!"
Splinter looked back at April, but said nothing.
Her jaw clenched and her eyes flared. "I'm going after them!"
"April!" Splinter suddenly shouted out.
She turned a sharp 180.
"It would not be wise to go above ground at this point."
April clenched her stomach and groaned and before she could do anything else, Splinter was guiding her to the couch. "Sit. You are sick."
"I - I didn't think it was possible to be sick with fear..." April clenched her eyes shut.
"Yes, it is. I get the same feeling when my sons go up top." Splinter walked to the kitchen and put water in the kettle to boil over the stove.
April could feel her toes curl as if trying to escape fire. "Then why are you not worried now?" Slowly she could feel her anger dissolve, but what was left was just as sad. She missed her old life, when things were normal and it was just her and her dad. But then she wouldn't have found the guys and Master Splinter...
"I am. Yet I believe that my sons will bring him home. And that is a calming thought." Splinter returned with two cups of steaming tea. He passed one to her before claiming his own and sitting down beside April.
"It is, I guess." The fealing of nausea wavered slightly at the prospect of everything being ok.
Splinter nodded, but took a slight glance to the lab as worry sriked up in his eyes. But no sooner had he pushed it down.
Tada! Sorry if it was choppy! This one was a bit longer, or I think it is... is it...? Hu! *Shrugs shoulders and sighs* Oh well. What can i say. Please review, the box is just right down there! Until next time, Snow fun has left the building!
