Authors note: this chapter was fun to write and also I think is my longest one yet.
Chapter 11: Rebellion at the hidden Mist
It had been a few weeks after their graduation; Kagetsu, Arata and Keiko were now active gennin of the hidden mist village. Suigetsu had been their sensei just as it had been established by Chojuro, the Mizukage. They had been in a couple of C-ranked missions such as babysitting and helping rebuild and old woman's house.
"Dad I mean Sensei when are we going to get a real mission we still haven't even gone outside the village." Kagetsu asked.
"Kagetsu-kun you will get your mission outside of the village sooner than you think. Now thou get your ass back to work." Suigetsu replied.
After a couple of minutes they were done.
"Sensei we are done, what's next assignment?" Keiko asked looking at her sensei's odd expression.
"Sensei is something wrong?" This time it was Arata who asked.
Suigetsu was looking at the sky the moment they had gone up to him. A peculiar cloud of smoke had gotten his attention.
"Well you should go report to the Mizukage and check on what he has to say." Their sensei replied never taking his eyes out of the cloud of smoke.
"You will not be going with us?" Kagetsu asked looking shock.
"You guys can handle it." Suigetsu said dismissing the subject but Kagetsu knew there was clearly something going on and he found out rather quickly.
"Get down now." Suigetsu shouted as he took two kunais from his pouch throwing them over his student's heads.
"Well, well, well seems as we get to cut down one of the Mizukage's most trusted jounings." Said a group of shinobi's from the sound village. They were wearing their normal attire consisting of a black mask over a grey long sleeve obi over black pants and standard shinobi sandals.
"What's the hidden sound village doing here?" Suigetsu asked walking in front of them. "First chance you get, run." He whispered to his students.
"Dad I can't leave you here against them you don't even have a weapon." Kagetsu replied.
"It wasn't a question kid it was an order by your sensei." Suigetsu started. "Besides I always have a weapon." He finished as he unrolled the scroll containing the seven swords which he used to summon the samehada." Arata- kun you are in charge when I give the signal go." He instructed to which Arata responded with a simple nod.
"Now which one of you is going to die first? It's been so long sense I had been able to kill so many people." Suigetsu said giving of killing intent and bloodlust which made some of the sound ninja cower in fear.
"Now, now Suigetsu is that anyway to receive your old comrades hmm? Asked one of the ninjas walking to the front and as he did all the others quickly bowed down.
A look of fear and worry over took Suigetsu as he realized who had outer the words.
"Orochimaru." He said griping his sword tightly.
"It's been a long time Suigetsu-kun; are you glad to see me?" Orochimaru asked with a sinister smile.
"What are you doing here you snake" Suigetsu said rage building inside of him.
"I am here for a simple reason." Orochimaru started the sinister smile never living his lips. "Dispose of you and your pathetic village." He finished as he lunged forward sending killing intent which made Kagetsu and his teammates paralyze with fear.
Orochimaru when towards Arata first, slashing at his chest. Suigetsu barely managed to block it.
"I won't let you destroy this village." Suigetsu said as he slashed at the older ninja's torso which Orochimaru easily dodged.
"If you are so busy fighting me, how do you plan to keep them safe?" Orochimaru gestured towards Kagetsu and Keiko who were still paralyzed and were now surrounded by sound ninjas. Suigetsu cursed under his breath as he jumped back and started forming hand seals. "Water release: water dragon jutsu." He said and the water around him transformed in to a huge dragon and went crashing down on the ninjas around Kagetsu and Keiko.
Kagetsu seeing this broke free of his paralysis and quickly got in to his fighting stance.
"Kagetsu get Keiko and Arata out of here now." Suigetsu commanded.
"I can't leave you against all of them." Kagetsu countered.
"You have to go you can't let emotions get the better of you now." Suigetsu said as he slashed through a ninja cutting his limbs off.
"You have to do what's best for the village not just me."
Kagetsu finally understood it and nodded in response. He then quickly ran over to Keiko.
'Please forgive me for this Kami-sama.' He thought as he slapped Keiko leaving a red mark on her face.
"What was that for?" She said punching him as soon as she was out of her paralysis.
"No time for questions we have to get Arata and get out of here." Kagetsu explained and there was another huge explosion form within the village.
"That was the civilian side of the village." Keiko stated her eyes full of unshed tears.
"It will be okay Keiko-chan." Kagetsu reassured her with a small smile. 'Will it really?' he asked himself.
"What are we going to do?" Keiko said starting to get anxious looking around seeing so many dead bodies.
"We have to get Arata and we have to go." Kagetsu said as he slashed cutting a sound shinobi across his chest blood splashing over him.
Keiko nodded and quickly jumped over Kagetsu parrying a kunai headed for Kagetsu and then ran directly at him stabbing her kunai in his neck.
Suigetsu was still fighting with Orochimaru.
"Tell me why now? Why are you attacking again?" Suigetsu asked Orochimaru as he threw a kick at the older shinobies right leg and followed quickly with low slash aiming for Orochimaru's torso once more. Orochimaru dodged the kick and had barely enough time to roll out of the way avoiding the slash.
"It was getting boring just letting other people's wind push me around. I really needed some action." Orochimaru said as he rapidly made hand seals "Wind release: Giant breakthrough." Orochimaru said as he blew a huge air blast that knocked Suigetsu on his back, Orochimaru quickly rushed at him stabbing his sword on Suigetsu's left leg making him scream in pain.
"Come on you bastard if you're going to kill me do it now." Suigetsu snarled at the ex-sannin pushing himself up to an almost crutching position letting his leg turn back to water.
"If not you're not going to be able to." He said pointing at him with his index finger using his clan's technique.
"Come on Suigetsu-kun, you think that's going to work?" Orochimaru said appearing next to him slashing through him making him turn back in to a puddle of water.
'Shit this is getting out of hand I need for Kagetsu to get out of here, and I should give him the scroll sense I won't be surviving this.' Suigetsu thought to himself as he turned back into his body.
Kagetsu had now steadily moved closer to Arata and had managed to pick him up.
"Damn your heavy Arata." He stated as he handed him over to Keiko so that he could protect them.
"Were do you think you're going? Asked a ninja moving up to where Kagetsu was.
"Kaito, is that you? What are you doing with these bastards?" Keiko asked looking at her own brother moving ever closer to them, the enemies just allowing him passage.
"Keiko-nee, you should not call our friends bastards. Now come join us so we can take care of does two." Kaito Keiko's older brother said as he pointed at Arata and Kagetsu.
"What are you talking about Kaito-oneechan, this are my friends I won't let you hurt them." Keiko snorted as she looked at her brother fiercely.
"Keiko…I did not ask." Kaito had now appeared next to her his eyes glaring at her pushing her towards his new 'friends' who just grabbed her and dashed away.
Kagetsu made to follow but was stopped by Kaito.
"Who said you could leave?" He stated his tone not making it a question it carried no curiosity.
"Why are you doing this, what the hell is going on here?" Kagetsu glared anger getting the best of him.
"Am just making sure I will survive and answering your second question is just a waste of time, look around you the sound invaded your father should be dead any minute now and the Mizukage should follow not long after wards." Kaito's monotone voice rang in Kagetsu's head. "And you… well… you won't be living to see any of it." He continued as he dashed towards Kagetsu once more taking the young gennin by surprise getting a solid hit at his right arm.
Kagetsu quickly let his arm liquefy and counter attacked slamming the blunt of his sword into the Kaito's head making said boy slang forward. Kagetsu then shifted to make a run for the village seen as how Arata had finally woken up.
"Were do you think you're going now?" Kaito abruptly stopped Kagetsu. "You didn't really think that was enough to stop me."
"Shit." Cursed Kagetsu aloud.
"Kaito-sama? Kagetsu-kun? What's going on?" Arata finally said groggily getting up.
"This traitor is working for the enemy." Said a quick thinking Kaito taking the distraction to attack Kagetsu once again this time landing a sick kick to the side of said ninja's head.
"What? Kagetsu would never. Unless… you're father planed all this… and you are helping him." Arata stated anger clear in his voice so he started running towards his once best friend.
"Arata-kun wait this is what he wants." Kagetsu dodge his friends attack but could do nothing to stop what happened next.
Kaito dashed behind Arata and in one swift move ran Kagetsu's own kurikiribocho through Arata splitting him open in front of Kagetsu.
"You asshole, I'll kill you." Kagetsu shouted among other insults as he punched and kick the man who'd murdered his best friend.
Kagetsu finally managed to land a hit on Kaito's chest making him stager back. He took this opening to slam a kunai in his chest and followed with pinning his limbs to the ground picking his kurikiribocho and cutting Kaito up till he was unrecognizable.
Kagetsu still filled with pain made his way to the village everything was chaotic. Buildings burning, dead bodies of people he knew as well as some he never met. The ground was a bloodbath. He looked up to the Mizukages tower only to find half of it missing. The scene made him want to get in a fatal position and just cry. But he knew otherwise he had to find Keiko not only for him anymore but also for Arata at remembering his name unshed tears formed on his eyes. He then saw them, the group who had taken Keiko making their way to the Mizukages tower. He quickly dashed at them his body now a mess his dehydration taking effect but never the less he ran towards them and faced them.
"Let go of her, or I'll kill you all." Kagetsu threaten killing intend clear on his voice.
"Kagetsu, where is my brother; and where is Arata?" she asked looking around.
"Keiko-chan…I…" Kagetsu couldn't finish as two of the ninjas attacked him one sending a water dragon directly at him and the other throwing two kunais. Kagetsu simply liquefied himself making the attacks miss and then used 'water release: double gun.' killing both of his opponents. Keiko took the chance to break free grabbing one of the ninjas sword and ran it through his neck.
Kagetsu and Keiko slowly but surely took them all down but weren't much good themselves. Keiko had a nasty cut on her abdomen and a couple of broken ribs as well as a broken arm. Kagetsu on the other hand was moments away from passing out the effect of all of the deaths he caused as well as the death of his friend combined with the fight had took its toll on him and he finally succumbed an passed out.
When he came to he was in his house his Keiko next to him.
"You are awake." Keiko stated devoid of feelings.
"Keiko I… have to tell you something." He started never looking up at her.
"What's wrong?" Again her voice was farfetched as if she was somewhere else.
"I…I killed…Kaito." He finally said averting her gaze, he waited for a rant, tears, and screams something but it never came she just stayed there looking at the wall behind him.
"And Arata did you kill him too?" She finally asked a lone tear falling signaling for the rest to follow.
"No…your brother did." Kagetsu responded looking down at his hands silently cursing his uselessness.
Keiko opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by the door being kicked opened.
"We have to go." Karin stated looking at her son and his teammate.
"What's going on." Her son asked still tired.
"Your father is close to losing his fight we have to help him." Karin said anguish and clearly not holding up.
"Where is he mom?" he asked getting up from his bed and grabbing his sword once more.
"You are not going to him I need you to get out of here." Karin ran as she saw him grab his tools.
"But mother." He started.
"No Suigetsu would want you to help her first." She said pointing at Keiko.
"Okay mom I'll do that. Keiko let's go." He finally said gesturing to Keiko who had once again spaced out.
"I…I…am not going anywhere with you…you…murderer." She shouted at him taking hold of a kunai and pointing it at him.
"Keiko am sorry about Kaito I never meant for it to happen listen to me unless we go we could die here." He stated.
"Fine then if we are going to die anyway I prefer to die by my own hand." And with that she stabbed the kunai in her chest her eyes closing never to open again.
"No…No..." Kagetsu said kneeling down next to Keiko's body her blood flowing to his hands.
"Kagetsu this is no time to mourn her loss you have to go now."Karin stated.
Kagetsu did as he was told and headed out with his mother his face devoid of emotions. They silently made their way towards the exit of the village.
"Get out of here darling." Karin finally spoke to him in a motherly voice.
"Mom am sorry about this." He answered pushing her and making his way towards where we could feel his father's chakra.
Karin followed looking really pissed. When they reached Suigetsu to say they were surprised would be an understatement.
Suigetsu was not much more than a blub of water holding a sword. When Karin saw who his opponent was her blood ran cold.
"Kuku it's nice to see you again Karin." Orochimaru said. Suigetsu looked towards were they were dropping his guard which Orochimaru used to his advantage quickly bisecting him.
Suigetsu liquefied once more but it took more out of him and Karin realized it.
A couple other ninjas form the sound finally came to report back to their leader.
"The Mizukage has been taken out." They said throwing Chojuro's head down at Orochimaru's feet.
"Nicely done. With that this village is ours." Orochimaru said grinning like a mad man.
"Karin can you use the chains on them." Suigetsu asked her while silently letting her know what he was planning.
"Yes." She simply responded letting him know she understood.
With that both Suigetsu and Karin lunched forward, Karin manifesting the Uzumaki chains trapping Orochimaru and his men and Suigetsu chopping off heads. Orochimaru somehow managed to escape the chains and was now heading for Kagetsu but Suigetsu got in his way stopping his assault.
"Kagetsu, take this and go take your mother with you." He said throwing his son the scroll containing five of the seven blades seeing as they each had one. Kagetsu cached it and nodded and grab his mother throwing her over his shoulder and was beginning to make his way out when Suigetsu threw the samehada to him as well.
"Am proud of you son never forget that and, I love you Karin you crazy bitch." He said actually smiling as Orochimaru slashed him this time managing to cut him.
Kagetsu followed his father's instructions and got out of the village. Karin hadn't said anything.
"Where should we go." Kagetsu finally broke the silence.
"The only place I can think of and I know Orochimaru will be going to as well." Karin answer.
"Where is that?" Kagetsu asked looking at his mother.
Karin simply smiled.
"Konohagakure." She finally answered.
And with that they headed towards Konoha.
Well this one didnt take as long to write, next almost all of the new breed will meet. And ask yourselves what will Kagetsu do with the seven blades?
