Your lipstick stains
It was a little awkward trying to explain the lipstick stains, and why he was so late nowadays when he had always been so punctual before.

But it wasn't his fault. It was Amelia's. Or maybe both.

She always gave him a goodbye kiss when he left the house, which was an innocent concept...At first.
And so I went and let you
Sometimes, Amelia would make the kiss so soft and slow that it would leave him kind of desperate for more. She'd pull a tiny bit away and smirk, then push him out the door and close it before he got a chance to respond.
Blow my mind
She knew how he'd react, and was always prepared when he'd sneak back in, grab her from behind and kiss her deeply. She'd be forced to retaliate, and when Delbert finally pulled himself away from his wife, he'd be sporting a wild new hairstyle and a few randomly placed lipstick stains.
Your sweet moonbeam
Sitting out on the deck of the Legacy at night, while it was in port, was one of her favorite pastimes. It had always been. Something about being alone with the stars… It gave her courage for whatever journey lie ahead. Once she had settled into her new role as Delbert's wife, she found it even more wonderful to lie out in the backyard with him, snuggled into his hammock, the moon and stars gently illuminating the yard around them. When they woke up in the morning, his face ended up covered in lipstick stains, with no idea how they got there.
The smell of you in every
It drove him insane, and she knew it. That's why she always made sure their hugs lasted only long enough for him to get a slight whiff of her perfume, before she slid out of his arms and headed to whatever meeting she was called to. He'd whined about it a few times, and she always gave him a wink and told him she didn't have time to let him indulge, even though she usually had plenty of time.
Single dream I dream
Whenever she came home, he'd either be busy in his observatory, or asleep on the couch with a book in his hand. If he was asleep, she'd smile and walked past him slowly, giving him a chance to catch her scent and wake up. He'd get up and pull her to him, and take the opportunity to bury his nose in her hair, smiling at how she'd squirm and giggle.
I knew when we collided
He'd bumped into her plenty of times. Either it was because he was distracted, (like when they had been on the Legacy) or because she'd purposely stepped into his way, like she so often did at home. She planned it so he'd always end up bumping into her from behind, knowing how badly it made him blush.

It was annoying, but when he first realized that she was doing it on purpose, he grabbed her, whispered:
"Tease."
In her ear, and went back to walking. But she'd never let him get away with it. She'd catch him off guard, then kiss him so hard his head would spin.

On the radio, stereo
They both loved music, and whenever there was an uncomfortable silence in the house, Amelia would get up and turn on the radio.

She loved to dance, although she hadn't thought of herself as much of a dancer. But to Delbert, she danced beautifully. Most of the time, he'd get up and join her. But there were times when she'd think she was alone, and he'd just so happen to hear the music, peek in, and watch in awe.

The first time she caught him watching, her cheeks exploded with red.

She'd been slightly upset and very embarrassed, but Delbert remedied the situation by giving her a hug and telling her that she didn't have to hide anything from him, and that he enjoyed watching her dance so freely.

From then on, whenever she caught him, she'd just wink and keep dancing.

A one track mind like me
One thing that made their relationship work was their ability to devote themselves entirely to something. She flew headfirst into her work, and he buried himself in star charts and constellations.

They both loved the stars, but neither felt truly sure of their futures. She wasn't sure if she wanted to spend the rest of her life alone with the stars as her only constant companion. He wasn't sure if he wanted to sit in his big house with his books and star charts as his only friends. When they got together and finally shared that first kiss…

Something just clicked.

He wanted to spend his life holding her, loving how soft and warm she was.

She wanted to spend her life in his arms, ignoring the pressures of her occupation.

It drove him insane when he had to wait for her. He'd spend days or weeks waiting for her return, and then she'd take her sweet time walking down the gangplank.

After a while, he'd taken to meeting her outside her stateroom as soon as the Legacy docked. He'd sprint onto the ship as soon as he could, catch her wherever she was, and kiss her like there was no tomorrow.

The first few times, she protested. As soon as she realized what he was doing when he came towards her, she'd try to deter him.
"Delbert, no. Delbert...Delbert no! Delbert not on the Legacy! The crew-!"
Which always ended with her melting into his kisses.

Amelia laughed to herself when she remembered how often he'd mentioned how much he loved to just watch her.

She had to snap him out of it often, even though she found it adorable when he'd have that goofy smile and that dazed look in his eyes.

Jim didn't believe him when he told him she could dance. He thought he was lying. The wedding was a week later, and when Jim brought up the mandatory dance for the reception, Delbert shrugged and said they would be fine.
Watching you is the only drug I need
Jim had laughed and handed over the $10 after watching the newlyweds spin around the dance floor.

She hadn't felt beautiful in years. She'd had heard that she was from pig-headed men, and knew she was attractive… But only when she saw herself in that wedding dress did she truly feel beautiful.

She remembered her heart jumping when their eyes met, and he saw her coming down that aisle. She allowed herself to blush and smile, and he grinned in response.

Everytime they were out and about, they held hands. Amelia had been uncomfortable with it at first, but whenever she overheard someone judging them, Delbert would gently squeeze her hand and everything would be better. When she got more comfortable with being seen as his wife, he'd kiss her cheek or her nose.

But their relationship wasn't perfect. Sometimes they fought, sometimes their children acted out in public, sometimes her temper would cause her to lash out, sometimes he would say things he didn't mean...

But within an hour or so, they'd be back in each other's arms, whispering apologies and cuddling.

Trying to explain any aspect of their relationship was hard. How could you put something like that into words? They were opposites, unconventional… An odd couple.
A single thing you do
But trying to explain the mysterious lipstick stains on his collar, shirt, or face… Delbert finally gave up trying to come up with something to say. When people asked, he'd shrugged and say:
"She didn't want me to go."
