A/N: I'm BACK! I did legit have this started last year? I'll just go with last year and not check to see if it was indeed 2 years ago, because then I'd feel really bad. But it WAS started right after I finished the last chapter. I just got writer's block, then kinda procrastinated trying then stopped writing altogether and then started again but forgot about this.. I'm going to try to update regularly again with my once a month posting schedule but no promises. If it winds up being once every two months, would that be ok? I'm going to try, ok.
And I do still accept ocs. And tell me your ships if you have any so far! My current ship is Yuki and Mai (Yoko's parents, lol.) Mind you, my shipping, doesn't mean it'll happen.
It's been a couple weeks since the outbreak. Due to much protesting from my parents, we're still in the hotel. Our cellphones no longer work, I never did hear from Busujima and she's been declared dead by Kyousuke and I, which only adds to my sadness.
Busujima Saeko and I were rivals in kendo, but outside of that, we were friends, hence why I had her number. I always looked forward to beating her eventually, since she was the best, but it wasn't so bad losing either since going up against her team meant mine was good enough to get that far. We'd often talk on the weekends, sometimes visit each other… we hung out. We'd often even spar if we both were in the mood to, she'd win of course, but it was fun and that's what counted. It was sad to think of her wandering around, munching on whatever she could, unable to control herself. Maybe she was badass enough that if a zombie bit her, it'd turn into her? Or maybe she just willed herself not to turn and just hasn't gotten to a phone?
I heaved a sigh and took the pocky stick I had been sucking on out of my mouth, having sucked off all the chocolate. I hadn't realized I was doing that and the guys in the room were watching, well, Kyousuke and Ginta were watching, their eyes seemed to be glued on my chocolate covered mouth. Kyousuke looked like he was about to get a nosebleed and had a red tint to his cheeks, Ginta just had a lecherous gaze -I half expected him to tell me I have a 'purdy mouth', but his mouth remained shut.
My train of thought was broken, probably for the best, dwelling on the past got nothing done. I ate the rest of the stick of pocky before putting another in my mouth.
Kyousuke cleared his throat and averted his eyes. "What are we going to do about communication?" he asked, reminding me we had been discussing important matters.
"How likely do you think it'll be we can find enough walkie-talkies?" I asked with pocky in my mouth, making it harder to be understood.
"We'd need batteries and once those are gone and all dead, we'd have nothing yet again," Jinkusu pointed out.
"Well, a lot of them come with batteries included. We still have electricity so we can get rechargeable batteries and I picked up a generator for when the electricity goes out," I said, rolling my eyes at my cousin.
Kyousuke nodded then asked, "But what if we can't find any?"
"Well then, I guess we're screwed for communication," I said as some chocolate dripped onto my cleavage.
Ginta's eyes were on the spot of chocolate on my chest, he looked like he wanted to lick it off me.
"My brother should have a supply," Clare spoke up. I had forgot gummy-bear girl was here.
"And we should try to team up with him. He has a few friends with him most likely," Kyousuke said, nodding at Clare.
"Ok, but if we can't find any walkie-talkies though, what are we going to do?" I asked with a sigh.
"My brother should have a supply," Clare repeated.
I looked at her, tilting my head slightly and said, "I heard you."
"You obviously didn't understand. Jason should have some walkie-talkies," Clare said.
"Oh. You or Kyousuke talk to him, I'm not texting him for either of you," I said then facepalmed, "We can't text him."
"Maybe you and I can try to hack the satellites to get them going again," Jinkusu said, "Between your math skills and my computer skills, we should manage."
I heard Alejandro chuckle something under his breath about 'Asian stereotypes', which earned him a shove from Ginta.
"I doubt we could…. it's not like either of us know how to get into programs to hack," I said then frowned, "And the wifi is down."
"Oh the horror," my father said sarcastically.
"It is horrifying, you can't access your porn," I said. He gave me a stern look that both denied and told me to shut up. "I've seen your internet history…. accidentally saw the porno Mom was in because of that," I said, shrugging then winced at the memory of seeing my mom take it up the ass.
My father looked a bit flustered and angry now but was quiet.
The guys were all now just looking at my mom. My mom was blushing and biting her lower lip.
"Ok. Let's change to a more comfortable subject, like-," Kyousuke started to say before I finished the sentence for him.
"Who's going to go with Kyousuke to deliver Clare to Jason and ask if he has some walkie-talkies," I said.
"Why are we delivering me to him? I could have gone home anytime I wanted….." Clare said, pouting a little.
I flicked a gummy bear at Clare and sighed, "He may be more likely to join or give us something if you're there… I don't know what kind of guy this Jason is, but if he's any sort of good brother, he's likely to at least help if you're with whomever is there."
Clare caught the gummy bear in her cleavage before picking it up and making little screamy voices for the bear as she lifted it up to her mouth. She tilted her head back and opened her mouth with the gummy bear a few centimeters above it screaming out a quiet, "Noooooo," before dropping it in and chewing it up. "Oh. Ok," she said, answering me as if what she had done before didn't even happen.
"We at least know where he may be and we know him," Kyousuke said, shrugging. He seemed unphased by Clare's antics, perhaps used to them by now, "I don't see why we'd need more."
"Which means you'd be driving your car and be well armed," I nodded, understanding. Not like Kyousuke was a bad shot or a bad fighter in general. "Anything that could go wrong?" I asked.
"Guns getting jammed, running out of ammo, not being able to find Jason and potentially joining his group and never heading back here. The latter is something I'd never do, but Clare may not come back," Kyousuke said with a sigh.
"I would so!" Clare protested, pouting at Kyousuke.
"If there's more gummy bears there than here, we both know you'll stay," he said, rolling his eyes at her.
"We're starting to get off topic," I growled, finishing off another pocky stick. "You two don't need backup?" I asked, glaring at them to encourage them to focus.
"It'd be nice but unneeded," Kyousuke said, leaning back a bit in his chair.
"If you were to take backup, who'd you take?" I asked before licking the chocolate off my lips.
"The one in charge. You," Kyousuke said, putting it simply.
"I was planning to go for a dog and cat food run," I frowned, putting my bare feet up on the table as I too, leaned back.
"It makes sense to take you along. If not you, then who else? The big goofball? Your mom? An old man? Ginta? Who's to say they'll come back if Jason has a base? What ties them to the group? Ok… your parents are tied here because of you but you're tied here because it's yours. You brought us together, you'll keep us together," he explained, almost matter of factly.
"You have a point…" I conceded before looking over at Ginta. "You and Alejandro will be going on a food run for Pixel and Picard. I want a big supply to avoid making food for them for as long as we can. We don't need the extra work," I said.
"Can I take Yuki instead? Alejandro would be better defending the place," Ginta asked before snagging some of my pocky.
I gave him a death glare before taking the pocky away from him, not caring that he had already put it in his mouth and licked up the side of it slowly before putting it in my mouth, sucking for a bit then took a bite. "As long as we're quiet, we don't need to defend a lot. My parents should be fine here alone," I said.
"I'm perfectly capable of going alone, I don't need all that muscle with me, if anything, leave the muscle here or send him on a different errand. He'll honestly just be in the way," Ginta protested.
"I don't mind going with him," my father spoke up. It seemed he was done sulking over the porn comment earlier. "Two heads are better than one and we have a big dog here, if he starts barking, we'll get attention. Alejandro looks to be in better shape, the place won't get overrun with him here," he continued.
"Fine. Whatever. You're quieter than the zombie bait anyway," I grumbled.
Alejandro looked like he wanted to protest but no words left his lips.
"Do you want Yuki and I to go now?" Ginta asked, scratching his head a bit.
"Yes. That'd be great," I said, sending the two off. I didn't bother tell them what car since it was obvious they'd take my father's.
Once Ginta and my father had left I looked over at Alejandro. "I want you and my mother to keep watch," I said. "And maybe clean a few things up."
Alejandro and my mother nodded. I felt our work was done so I got up and started to walk out but Kyousuke grabbed my arm. "Landlines, did you check to see if they work?" he asked, suddenly remembering that cellphones weren't the first and only phones.
"I didn't think to check," I said with a frown.
"Where's the nearest one?" he asked, seemingly excited that he had outsmarted me.
"Um… front office, where one would check in," I said, thinking a bit as to where I had seen one last. It made sense that there'd be one there, right?
"Before we go trying to track Jason down… let's try his home phone," Kyousuke said, walking towards the office and making it clear he wanted me to follow.
I flopped on the check-in desk place or whatever, sitting on a bunch of paper and knocking some over. "You still have his number?" I asked, remembering that you can't just press 'call' on someone's name anymore.
"It's in my phone. Can't use it to call but it still turns on," Kyousuke rolled his eyes before dialing a number, his phone being used like a phonebook. A few rings could be heard before a male voice on the end, I couldn't make out what he said but Kyousuke's side went like this:
"Hello," Kyousuke said happily once the phone was answered.
"..." came the unintelligible male voice.
"Is he ok?"
"..."
"Where is he?"
"..."
"We have Clare, she's safe and full of gummy bears."
"..."
"We plan to reunite them, no worries."
"..."
"She likes it here I think."
"..."
"Of course she's well taken care of."
"..."
"I know he's probably worried but there's no reason to be."
"..."
"Is he home now?"
"..."
"Can you put him on?"
"..."
"Well wake him!"
"..."
"Fine. Meet me in the park"
"..."
"Yes I'll bring Clare."
"..."
"Are you bringing Jason?"
"..."
"Bring him."
"..."
"I don't care if he's running on three hours of sleep, he's functioned fine on less."
"…"
"Ok."
"…. "
"Goodbye," Kyousuke then put the phone back on the charger and sighed before pinching the bridge of his nose. "I NEED you to come with me in case a fight breaks out," he said, clearly frustrated.
"What's up?" I asked, quirking an eyebrow at him.
"Jason's friend, Chris, answered the phone. He seems to be in a worse mood than usual and is pissing me off already and he's the one we gotta meet," Kyousuke explained. "And we're meeting him at four so Jason can get some sleep before we do this. But Jason will be sleeping in the back. He's expecting a drop off of Clare, and that we are merging groups," he continued.
"Well at least he agreed to bring Jason with him…" I shrugged.
"Yeah. Not sure we'll actually be talking to him," Kyousuke sighed. "You speak some English, right?" he asked, a little unsure.
"It's not the best but yeah," I said, quirking an eyebrow. I remember texting this Jason guy in Japanese before and him replying back in the same language so… naturally, I was confused.
"We may have to speak it instead. I just want to make sure I won't have to translate," he explained, sorta.
I had assumed Jason was a foreigner anyway. With a name like that? Had to be. That and no one in Japan names their kid 'Clare'. Which I guess… was a good thing if his Japanese isn't perfect. Then I got thinking. "The guy you were on the phone with, was he answering in English?" I asked.
"Yes. And my answering back annoyed him more because he had to think about what I said," Kyousuke nodded.
I simply nodded. In the meantime, I decided to brush up on my English.
Three pm came around and I was very bored. I had destroyed the one English book I could find, annoyed with learning already. I had already showered, got dressed. My hair was down, the front caressing my shoulders, the back barely touching my neck. I was officially done waiting.
I sat up on my bed, the blood rushing down from my head as I had been upside down, my head and back hanging over the side of the bed while my legs were on the bed, keeping me balanced. I let out a groan and checked the time again. I knew Ginta was back with the animal food by now, meaning I could have done that myself, which only bugged me more.
I got off of the bed and headed out of the room. I walked down the hallway and to Kyousuke's room. He wasn't there. I checked Clare's room, just gummy bears but no Clare. I frowned. I knew he wouldn't leave without me. But where the hell were they? I headed down to where we had parked all the cars and stumbled into Clare.
Our breasts collided, jiggling in unison and then we stumbled back. I locked eyes with hers as she started giggling. "Hey," I said once she was quiet.
She was quiet and just skipped off, so I followed. Was I supposed to follow? I didn't know but I knew I'd find out.
She soon stopped in front of Kyousuke`s car, where we found him waiting in the driver`s seat.
Hour later. We were at the park. Chris was late. Kyousuke looked tense and pissed. Claire was singing some random song. And I was getting a headache. Then a black car pulled up. I don't know much about cars but it looked expensive and new. It had some green custom work on it, it was subtle but the windows were outlined in a dark green. The windows were tinted a bit. It was a nice looking car.
The car parked in front of us, facing us. The door opened and a big muscular guy with short blond hair with blue tips stepped out. He was tall, broad shoulders. His face… he seemed to suffer from resting bitchface syndrome. He looked mean.
Kyousuke didn't look happy to see him and stepped out of the car. I assumed that was Chris. Kyousuke motioned for me to come out of the car and I complied.
"Hey Chris, nice to see you," Kyousuke said, I could tell he was trying very hard to be civil.
"Cut the shit. You got Clare?" the blond Hulk growled back in English.
"Yes. She's in back. We need speak to Jason," I said, my poor English showing.
"Who's this?" Chris asked, his blue eyes cutting through me. I could tell he didn't appreciate me speaking.
"I'm Kumamoto Yoko, the leader of the group Kyousuke and Clare are in," I answered with attitude before Kyousuke could.
"I didn't ask you a damn thing, now shut up," Chris growled at me. I contemplated attacking him.
"I asked her along. She's a friend," Kyousuke said. "Anyway, we were wondering if Jason had any walkie-talkies he could spare so our group would have a better time keeping in touch better when we left our base," he explained.
"And you need Jason for this?"
"It's preferred."
"You'll hand Clare over?"
"She's been welcome to leave this whole time," I spoke up, earning a glare from Mr. Roid Rage.
"So why hasn't she?" Chris growled at me. If looks could kill… you know the saying.
"She obviously didn't want to. She's been well taken care of the whole time, even entertained. Kept full of gummy bears too… she may have a cavity but that's none of our faults," I shrugged, not letting his glare intimidate me. Truth is, I could probably take him.
And he now looked like he was ready to hit me. Fuck. "So. You expect me to believe she just didn't want to leave. She had no desire to go home?"
"Yes," I said then continued, "You know… you'd probably be good looking if you smiled."
Before Chris could respond to that, the back door of the car he had came in opened. A man with pitch black hair sat there on the back seat, his shoulder length hair a total mess. He didn't bother stepping out but you could tell he too, was tall. He looked a LOT like the guys I normally found myself involved with. "Hey… I thought you said you'd wake me when we got here," he grumbled, he too was speaking in English. Of course he was.
Not that I wanted to admit it but his voice sent shivers down my spine, but I willed myself not to be attracted to him.
"You really aren't needed," Chris said, shrugging, muscles rippling.
"Who's the Asian chick?" Jason asked, nodding over to me.
"Some Kumamoto chick… she's leading the group that has Clare," Chris answered. He surprised me by being capable of being calm.
"It's not how it sounds. She was free to go. You know I'd never keep her against her will," Kyuosuke said.
And then said gummy-bear girl jumped out of the car and ran over to Jason, wrapping her arms around him and nearly knocking him over. Perfect timing. "Jason!" she yelled, pushing him onto the seat of the car.
"I missed you too," he chuckled, sitting back up then carried her over so he could stand beside Chris. "So… you've been treated well, right?" he asked.
"Well.. the 22nd Gummy Bear Battalion had a few casualties but the murderer was stopped and given a gunshot and community service," she answered cheerfully, "But aside from that… yeah, I guess. They're good people."
"She shot you?" Jason asked me, having seen the look on my face.
"It barely glanced me," I shrugged, passing it off like it was no big deal. It really wasn't, all things considered. It hurt less than breaking a window with my fist, might have bled less too. If anything, it put a hole in my shirt. But the memory did recall pain.
"I'm sorry about that, she gets really protective of her gummy bears," he chuckled, his smile seeming to brighten up his face, highlighting his handsome features. His lip piercings seeming to glisten in the sun. "Listen, we can sit and chat here or we can head somewhere safe. Your choice, but we have some more talking to do."
I simply nodded then gave Kyousuke a look like I needed a translation for some of it. It just seemed to go in one ear and out the other and I didn't want to ask for him to repeat. Luckily, Kyousuke got the message and translated.
"Oh, and we can speak in Japanese if it helps you. Chris hates it but I don't really mind," Jason said with a slight shrug. "So… find somewhere safe or stay here on the open?" he repeated perfectly in Japanese. Almost like he was a native speaker.
"Somewhere safe would be good I guess… where did you have in mind?" I answered.
"Well, I'd take you to my base but I know I'll just be taking you guys back there anyway, so let's save some gas by going to yours."
"Because maybe mine is safer? So we could grab supplies at yours and go to mine?"
"Uh, Yoko, we're staying in a boarded up sex hotel that's not really made for long stays… he's probably right, if we join him, we should go to his base. He probably chose something better," Kyousuke interjected.
"Whatever. Anything is better than being out in the open," I sighed. "We'll argue about living arrangements when we get to it."
"So your base it is?" Jason asked.
"Yeah," I grumble then look Kyousuke in the eye, "But I'm driving," then proceeded to get in the driver's seat of his fancy skyline -don't even ask me what that looks like, it's a type of car, he's obsessed with it, it's fancy and stuff. When it looked like he was about to protest, I smiled sweetly and said, "Revenge for pointing out flaws in our base."
(A/N: Trying very hard not to do a closing author's note but it's needed. This took many months to finish up and I'm semi proud of it. And a big thank you goes out to my friend Acidic . Wrath (you may find him by looking up that name with having spaces between). He's a writer too so look up his stuff. He helped me a little with the gummy bear situation with Clare, and is the creator of Jason, Clare and Chris. I should have ran the park scene by him but I think I know Jason well enough from RPing with him that I got it right… I did have a harder time keeping Yoko from acting like a horny teenager over the meeting though, lol. Any who. Yeah. Got this up. Yay! And more to come, eventually. I tried my best not to leave it on a cliffhanger.
And of course, Nakashima Hatsuharu lent me Kyousuke but he's been around from the beginning. And I'm probably going to hear it from him for having Yoko get in the driver's seat of the skyline. I seriously don't know what the hell that is, btw, other than a fancy car.)
