Ok, so... this is a shorter chapter, and there is a conversation in this chapter between Tony and Tony. If anybody would like me to put their last names in parenthesis, just let me know, and I'll update the chapter. I love to hear your opinions, and feel free to leave suggestions! :)
Chapter 10
Several hours later, after the crime scene had been cleaned up, and the body moved to NCIS's morgue, Jack, Tony and Michelle all made there way back to the safe house. Tony and Emily on the other hand, headed back to NCIS with Gibbs and McGee.
Gibbs walked into the team room with a cup of coffee in his hand. Tony and Emily were both sitting at their desks.
"Almeida, DiNozzo, I need to talk to you, now," Gibbs ordered, walking towards the elevator.
"Yes, boss," They replied, simotaniously.
They both gave eachother worried looks, and followed him into the elevator. Once the door was closed, Gibbs turned on the emergency stop.
"What the hell were you two thinking?" He asked, angrily.
"Ah..." Tony stuttered.
"Oh yeah, that's right, you two weren't thinking!" Gibbs said loudly, "Rule Number 12; 'Never date a co-worker,' we have rules for a reason."
"We didn't mean for this to happen, it just did," Emily defended.
"I don't care, I want you two to break it up," He ordered, coldly.
"But.. Boss..." They both stuttered.
"I don't want to hear excuses, you two aren't a couple anymore, is that clear?" He asked them.
"Yes, boss," They both replied, sadly.
"Good, I don't want to see, or hear of this anymore," He replied sternly.
They both nodded, trying to hold back tears. After they finished giving their statements, they both returned to the safe house. As they walked in, Tony noticed the distressed look on his sister's face.
"What's wrong?" He asked, sweetly.
Emily shook her head and proceded to the bedroom. She sat down on the bed, and DiNozzo sat down next to her. She turned toward him, buried her face in his chest, and cried. Tony wrapped his arms around her, gently rubbing her back, kissing the top of her head occassionally, and whispering words of comfort into her ear. After a few minutes of crying she sat up straight, and took a deep breath. They looked into eachother's eyes.
"I'm not ready to loose you," Emily admitted, "but you heard Gibbs,"
Tony nodded, trying to hold back his tears.
"I guess..." Emily started, letting a tear fall down her cheek, "This is goodbye,"
Tony nodded again, wrapping her in his arms for one last time, "I will always, love you, Emily,"
This time it was her turn to nod, "I'll always love you too, Tony,"
Tony stood up and walked out of the room, to the front porch, where he sat down, and let the tears fall. Tony and Jack were sitting out on the back porch, and Michelle had been sitting in the bedroom Tony and herself were sharing. She heard Tony walk out of Emily's room, and walk out of the house. She got off the bed and went across the hall to Tony and Emily's room. The door was open slightly, she knocked.
"Hey, Emily, can I come in?" Michelle asked, sweetly.
"Yeah," Emily replied, wiping the tears off of her face.
Michelle opened the door and saw Emily sitting on the bed, her eyes red and puffy.
Michelle felt really bad for her, she wasn't sure what had happened, but she was obviously very upset, "What's wrong?"
Emily took a deep breath, and looked up at Michelle, feeling the tears stinging her eyes, "Gibbs..." she took another deep breath, "Gibbs forced Tony and I to break up,"
"What? Michelle replied, astounded.
Emily shrugged, letting a few tears fall, "We were at the crime scene, and he told us that he knew about our relationship, we thought the worst was over, but, when we got back to the ofice, he pulled us aside, and told us, inner office relationships were out of the question, he ordered us to break it up,"
Michelle moved closer to Emily on the bed, and opened up her arms, "C'mere, honey,"
Emily rested her head against Michelle's shoulder and let the tears fall freely.
Tony told jack he was going to be right back, walking around to the front of the house, where he saw his sister's boyfriend sitting on the porch.
Tony heard him approach, "Hey,"
"What's wrong, man?" Tony asked, sitting down next to him on the porch.
"Emily and I..." He started, decided to try a different approach, "Gibbs..." he just couldn't find the right words to explain to his love's brother that he had just broken her heart, "Gibbs ordered us to break up, he has this thing about inner office relationships, and... that's that,"
Tony became very concerned, "How's Em handling it?"
"Just about as good as I am," He admitted, feeling the tears form in his eyes again.
Tony continued to look at him as he continued.
"I loved," realizing his mistake his quickly corrected himself, "love, her..." Tony said quietly, he then raised his voice, "Damn, I love her so damn much, more than I thought I could ever love someone,"
Tony sat quitely, nodding, "You know, I have never seen Em look at anybody the way she looked at you," he smiled, "Whenever she looked at you, you could tell, she was always beaming, she was so happy,"
Tony sat quitely listening to Emily's brother.
"She was almost engaged once," Tony informed him, "She was really serious with one boyfriend, and she broke it off right before he was going to propose, even then, you could tell by the way she looked at him, that she wasn't as happy as she could be, and I don't think, by the way she looks at you, that she could be much happier,"
"I was going to propose..." Tony admitted, looking down at his feet, "I didn't have the ring yet, I had it picked out, I knew which one I wanted to get her, I just figured I would wait until after this situation cleared up, but, I guess that won't happen now,"
"Look, Tony, if I know any good piece of advice, it's never to give up, keep some hope that you two will be back together, and one day, I bet it will happen, she won't be able to go without you long, and by the way you're sitting out here, and emotional wreck, you won't be able to go long without her," He said, seriously, "Just, don't give up,"
"Thanks," Tony replied, nodding, seeing Tony stand up, he patted him on the shoulder before walking into the house, to check on his sister. He walked up to the bedroom door and noticed it slightly ajar. He knocked.
"Em... Can I come in?" He asked, lightly.
Michelle looked at Emily who nodded.
"Yeah, come on in, Tony," He heard Michelle's voice reply.
He walked in and saw Michelle sitting on the bed with Emily, holding her in her arms.
"Did you hear about what happened?" She asked him, quietly.
He nodded, and sat down next to her on the bed.
"I'm going to leave you two alone," Michelle informed him, giving him a quick kiss, before walking out to the back porch sitting with Jack.
Emily rested her head on Tony's shouldler.
"How are you holding up?" Tony asked, akwardly, trying to be considerate.
"Holding up?" She asked sarcastically, "I feel like my heart, has been shattered into a million pieces,"
"You do know that it's not his fault, right?" Tony clarified.
"Yes! It's Gibbs'!" She said loudly, "I'm never going to love again,"
"Em, you're being a little dramatic," He informed her.
"No, after someone that perfect, nobody will ever live up to him," Emily defended, "How would you feel if Michelle broke up with you?"
"I would feel like shit," Tony admitted.
"Yeah, that's what I feel like," She explained.
It was silent for a moment, "I'm so sorry, Emily,"
"Me too, Tony," Emily replied, "Me too,"
