Joe McKenzie sat beside his father in the room after a tearful reunion. They had calmed down and now Joe was ready to talk where he recalled everything from the start. How he was kidnapped from the school and held in an farmhouse, fed twice a day and finally how he met Mac. He gave detailed description of Mac's injuries and it broke Jack's heart. Joe then told them how Mac helped him to eecape

Jack felt so much rage in him that he wanted to have just few minutes alone with James so he could inflict the same amount of pain as Mac endured. The older man's heart sank in his stomach when Joe said he heard a gun shot while he was escaping "I...I'm not sure he's alive"

"No! He is alive. Mac can't be dead" Jack wiped the oncoming tears and took a deep breath "Can you take me there?" he asked hopefully and saw the boy nod "Yes. I promised Mac to bring help"

Ned tensed for a second fearing for his son's safety "You're taking Joe with you?" Jack saw the hesitation so he placed his hand on Ned's shoulder "'I'll bring him back safe Ned. I promise"

Ned gave a nod "Go get the kid"

"Matty c'mon. We should hurry before they shift Mac to some other place" Jack checked his gun and made sure it was loaded. Matty nodded and her team was ready within minutes. It was time to bring their boy back.

ONE HOUR LATER

Mac groaned as he slowly cracked his eyes open. His vision was blurry and mind tried to figure out where he was. It took another painful ten minutes before the agent rolled on his back. He coughed feeling suffocated as he couldn't get enough air to breathe. His chest and leg hurt like someone was piercing knives on them.

Mac's mind swirled with memories of the past three days, the most prominent and painful one being of his father. Thinking about his Dad, Mac felt a sharp pain in his heart. James was ready to kill him. A feeling of utter despair and loneliness engulfed him and his eyes burned. Mac angrily wiped his tears and tried to get up. He had to get out of here.

Mac was half way up when he heard cars screeching infront of him. He stumbled back few times and almost smiled in relief when he saw the person running towards him. It was his friend Jack who was calling out to him "Mac!" They found him.

Mac extended his hand and tried to reached out to his partner when suddenly out of no where a broad hand wrapped around his throat and a gun was pointed at his temple "Nobody moves if you want to see the kid alive!" hissed Harold who had woken up from his blow and was now holding Mac hostage

The cars parked a couple of feet away from the farmhouse and Jack literally jumped out of the car even before it had stopped. He ran towards the main door followed by armed officers. The agent specifically instructed Joe to stay inside the car for his safety. Jack couldn't jold back the gasp when he saw a wobbly Mac trying to get up from the ground. The kid was bruised and battered. Blood was flowing from his nose and mouth dripping down his shirt. His left eye was swollen and face scrunched in pain

Jack was only a feet away when he saw a shadow behind Mac. Before he could warn him the long shadow grabbed the kid from behind and held him at gun point "No!" Matty and her team froze on their spots. She ordered to stand down until further instructions. She frowned when she couldn't locate James.

"Step back!" Harold applied more on Mac's throat making him gasp for air. Jack held his hand out and tried to negotiate "It's over big guy. Let the kid go. This place is surrounded by police"

"Shut up! This kid has been nothing but trouble for me. I was going to take him back to his house but what he does in return? He knocks me out with a gun" Harold pressed the gun and Mac groaned "Give...up" the boy rasped out

Harold jabbed the gun on Mac's side "No talking kid" he looked at Jack "Move out of my way or I'll pull the trigger" the bully warned. Matty stepped back motioning her team to do so but Jack remained where he was. He couldn't let the man take Mac. Not when he had just found him "I hear you man but..listen to me. Let the kid go and take me instead"

Mac shook his head but Jack gave him one stern glare, silently asking him to keep quiet. Mac understood the glare. This wasn't just any glare, it the one with raised eyebrows...this meant only one thing...someone was behind them. They were a team and so each knew what the other was saying without using words

Joe figeted nervously in the car, legs bumping up and down. He needed to know what was going on out there. Did they get to Mac? Was he alright? His car was parked too far from the farmhouse so he couldn't see them. As if sensing something was wrong, Joe got out of the car. He ducked down behind other cars and tried to see what was taking them so long

Joe's eyes widened when he saw Mac was being held hostage by Harold. He cursed and decided to do something about it. Mac had saved his life and now it was his turn to return the favour. The boy quickly ran at the back of the farmhouse hoping no one would spot him and jumped inside from a window. He looked around and found a brick. Joe picked the brick and slowly walked towards the main door

Jack had to force himself to stay calm when he saw Joe was standing behind Mac and Harold with a brick in hand. He needed to stall the criminal so Joe could strike. After that it would be easy to nail the guy down

Harold gritted his teeth and snarled at Jack "Move!"

"Calm down big.."

"I've had enough! This ends now!" Harold started dragging a reluctant Mac towards a van when Jack yelled at the top of his voice "Joe Now!" he saw the boy throw the brick ot Harold's back which made the bully loosen his grip on Mac

What happened next was blur to Mac. He was suddenly on his knees gasping for precious air. His ankle throbbed at the impact. With blurry eyes he saw Jack tackling Harold. The older agent kicked the criminal on his stomach and knocked his gun out. Jack landed punches after punches knocking the air out of him. Soon officers came running towards the pair. They pulled Jack off Harold who struggled like a mad man to get free "I'm gonna kill you! You ruined everything" he sneered at Mac

Jack stood protectively infront of Mac "Lay one finger on him and I'll burn you alive" he then hunched down and immediately took the boy in his arms "Oh kid" he cupped at the back of Mac's head and hugged him tightly. Jack's heart broke when he heard a small whimper "It's okay bud. I got you. It's all over now"

Harold snarled like a wild animal. When they were dragging him to the police car, he lunched with inhuman strength and grabbed a gun out of the officer near him and aimed at Jack's back. Everyone was seconds late in warning the hunched down pair. But Mac saw the threat on Jack's life. His blurry eyes widened and without any hesitation he broke the hug and pushed Jack out of the way
