The next day Cagalli was asked to go see her father.
"You wanted to see me father" said Cagalli walking into his office
"Yes" said Uzumi
"We are taking our forces to Kaguya" he said
"Why are we going to the Mass Driver" asked Cagalli
"We pushed the Alliance out" she said
"To send our forces into space to find a way to end this" said Uzumi
"With the death of Azrael and the decimation of their fleet, the Alliance will leave us alone and focus on ZAFT" he explained
"With almost all of ZAFT's fighting strength on Earth destroyed, they will focus on the PLANTs" he continued
"Which means we need to go to space" he finished
"I want you to command our forces in space while I stay here" he said
"I won't let you down" said Cagalli
"I know you won't" said Uzumi putting his hand on Cagalli's shoulders
"You will be a great leader" he said
"Now go get ready" he said letting go of her shoulders
Cagalli nodded her head and left his office.
Once she was gone, Uzumi thought "This is for the best"
The Archangel went to Kaguya and started the process of attaching the Kusanagi's spare boosters to it. They were told that once they launched they were to fire both Lohengrin at once. That would create a positronic interference effect that with the aid of the boosters allow them to achieve escape velocity and get into space.
The core of the Kusanagi was loaded with its full complement of M1s while the Freedom was already out guarding the mass driver and will grab onto the Kusanagi when it launches.
Lord Uzumi took Cagalli to the hatch of the Kusanagi. He gave her a hug before letting go.
"I know you will be a great leader Cagalli" said Uzumi
"You will lead Orb though these turbulent times better than I could" he said
"You will not be doing it alone" he said putting his hand into his coat
"You will have your brother to help you" he said taking out a picture and holding it out
Cagalli took the picture and looked at it. It was a picture of a lady with brown hair holding two babies wrapped in blue and pink blankets. She flipped the picture over and saw her and Kira's names written on the back. Her eyes widen as she looked up at her father who nodded his head.
"Now go" said Uzumi
He took a few steps back and the hatch closed and sealed shut.
"I did not like the way he was talking" thought Eagle
"Stay by the window Cagalli" said Eagle
"WHAT" yelled Cagalli spinning around
She saw Eagle and Hawk standing behind her.
"I forget they were there" thought Cagalli
"Why" she exclaimed
"I did not like the way he was talking" said Eagle
Cagalli's eyes widen before she shouted "He wouldn't do that"
"I hope you are right" said Eagle
"I will go get Lacus" said Hawk as she ran off
"But he told you he is proud of you, what he hoped for your future, and told you something you would have never known otherwise" said Eagle
"You're wrong" shouted Cagalli
"You have to be" she whispered hugging herself
"I really hope I am" said Eagle sadly
The Archangel took off and aimed upwards towards space. It then fired both Lohengrin which created a cone of particles in front of it. It activated it boosters and blasted off though the cone into space.
The Kusanagi was prepped for launch and its gate opened. Lacus joined Cagalli at the hatch window before the Kusanagi shot off down the mass driver. The Freedom grabbed onto the Kusanagi as it went by. It then shot off the mass driver and into space.
"They are clear" said a minister in the command center
"It is time then" said Uzumi
"We are ready" said a minister
"I just wish there was another way" said another minister
"I do too" said Uzumi
"But we can't allow the Alliance to claim Orb if they come back" he said
He put a key into a console and twisted it. That unlocked a covered button that he then pushed.
In the cockpit of the Freedom, Itachi looked towards the mass driver.
"I just got the feeling someone just did something really foolish" said Itachi
"You mean like blowing everything up" said Orochi
Morgenroete and the mass driver blew up.
On the Kusanagi, Cagalli's eyes widen as she staggered back.
"NOOO" yelled Cagalli
"FATHER" she cried
Lacus quickly held Cagalli as she cried. Once she calmed down some, Lacus said "Let's get her to her room"
Eagle, Hawk, Falcon, and Griffin nodded their heads. But when they went to leave they forgot about one thing. They were now in space. When they pushed off they were sent tumbling down the hallway.
"Woah" shouted Griffin
"I should have remembered about this" exclaimed Eagle
"Don't try to cheer me up" said Cagalli seeing them
"I don't think they are doing this on purpose" said Lacus giggling
"How do they not know about this" asked Cagalli
"Their world is less advanced than ours" said Lacus
Falcon brought out her wings to right herself. But when she flapped them she was sent up into the ceiling. She had to hold out her arms to brace herself, so she wouldn't hit the ceiling.
"She sprouted wings" said Cagalli
"Yes" said Lacus
"How" asked Cagalli
"She is from a magical race" said Lacus
"Let's help them get down" she said
Lacus and Cagalli helped get Eagle, Hawk, Falcon, and Griffin to the floor. Once on the floor Falcon put her wings away.
"Let's escort you to Cagalli's room" said Lacus
"We are supposed to be the guards here" grumbled Hawk
Once they arrived at Cagalli's room, Lacus left to go get Kira.
When Itachi left the locker room he saw Lacus waiting for him.
"It looks like you had a better time getting here than your friends did" said Lacus as they started walking
Itachi's eyes widen as he said "I completely forgot about that"
"They said the same thing" said Lacus
"Are they alright now" asked Itachi
"Yes" said Lacus nodding her head
"We brought them to Cagalli's room" she said
"Even though she thought they were trying to cheer her up at first" she said
"I take it she is not doing good then" asked Itachi
"No, she isn't" said Lacus
"It didn't help that Lord Uzumi's last words to her were telling her Kira was her twin brother" she said
"Is that even possible" asked Itachi
"No, it isn't" said Lacus shaking her head
"The Coordinator process is an all or nothing sort of thing" she said
"If Kira was one than Cagalli would be on too" she said
"Which she isn't" said Itachi
"Yes" said Lacus
They arrived at Cagalli's room and went inside. When they did Ginny, Padma, Parvati, and Gabrielle took off their masks and glared at Itachi.
"We are leaving" said Ginny
"Don't summon us back until you are back on solid ground" said Padma
All four of them disappeared in puffs of smoke.
Itachi went over and sat on the bed next to Cagalli.
"Lacus told me what happened" said Itachi
"Can I see the picture" he asked
"Here" said Cagalli giving it to him
Itachi took the picture and looked at it.
"Did you know you were adopted" asked Itachi
"Yes" said Cagalli nodding her head
"He told me when I was old enough to understand since I kept asking about my mother" she said
"I take it he never married" asked Itachi
"Yes" said Cagalli
"This picture doesn't look doctored" said Itachi
"Could he have lied" he asked
"No, he wouldn't do that" said Cagalli shaking her head
"But this is impossible" said Lacus
"You are a Natural and he was a Coordinator" she said
"I know that" shouted Cagalli
"But why would his last words be a lie" she cried
"There is a way to find out" said Itachi
"What is it" asked Cagalli
"Look into my eyes" said Itachi
Knowing what was about to happen, Lacus got next to Cagalli and looked into Itachi's eyes along with Cagalli. Itachi activated his Mangekyo Sharingan and said "Tsukuyomi"
The world spun around until they found themselves in a black and white world that exploded into color.
"Where are we" asked Cagalli looking around
"Welcome to my world of Tsukuyomi, where I can control everything" said Itachi
"Really" asked Cagalli
"It's true" said Lacus
"It allowed me to talk to my parents" she said
"Cagalli" said a voice
Cagalli turned towards the voice and saw it was the lady from the picture she got.
"Mom" asked Cagalli
"Yes dear" said Via smiling
Cagalli ran towards and hugged her while crying that Via returned.
"I am happy that I can finally hold you my baby girl" said Via
"You have grown into a beautiful young woman" she said
Cagalli smiled a little as she snuggled into her mother's embrace.
Eventually, Cagalli asked "Was Kira really my twin brother"
"Yes" said Via
Cagalli looked up at her and asked "How"
Via sighed as she let go of Cagalli.
"It has to do with my ex-husband" said Via
"You know how not all the changes made during the Coordinator process stick right" she asked
"Yes" said Cagalli nodding her head
"I take a lot of babies were abandoned because of that" asked Itachi
"They were" said Lacus
"We were geneticists working on that problem" said Via
"He had the brilliant idea that the mother's womb was the cause of it and decided to take it out of the equation" she explained
"An artificial birth" asked Lacus
"Yes" said Via nodding her head
"He tried and failed multiple times and only had enough funding for one more try" she explained
"That is when you found yourself pregnant isn't it" said Itachi
"Correct" said Via
"He decided to use Kira for his final attempt" she said
"I begged and pleaded with him to not to, but he wouldn't listen, and I was powerless to stop him" she explained
"I take it he was successful" said Itachi
"He was" said Via
"That was when I contacted my sister and had her take you both away" she said
"We were attacked and killed by Blue Cosmos soon after that" she said
"So, the Yamatos are my aunt and uncle" asked Cagalli
"They are" said Via
"But I was hoping she would raise both of you" she said
"Maybe she thought she couldn't handle it" said Itachi
"Where did this happen" asked Cagalli
"Mendel" said Via
"We will have to investigate that later" said Itachi
"Thank you for telling me" said Cagalli
"You're welcome" said Via
She then hugged Cagalli while saying "I love you and so proud of you Cagalli"
"I love you too mom" said Cagalli returning it
Via then disappeared.
"Thank you for this" said Cagalli
