- Chapter Ten - New Best Friend -

-Normal P.O.V-

"No! Opacho doesn't wanna go to school!" The three year old whined, she clutched onto Hao's leg as he started putting her things together. For the last half hour Opacho had been running around in her underwear avoiding getting dressed in her new school uniform.

"Opacho, everybody has to go to school at some point. You don't have to be scared, it'll be fine." Hao reassured his daughter, but the child still pouted. Opacho had no interest in playing with mere, ignorant mortals, but she had to keep up the rouse, for Hao. After ages of frivolous struggling, Opacho finally co-operated and got dressed.

"That wasn't so hard now was it?" Opacho scrunched her little face. Hao smushed Opacho's cheeks and pursed his lips. "You're face will stay like that if you keep making that face."

"Opacho doesn't wanna go to school." She huffed tugging at the hem of her skirt.

"Now why not?" Sighed Hao as he placed on hand on his cocked hip. "Give me one good reason why you don't want to go to school." Opacho pouted, making sure to scrunch her button nose.

"Because... Opacho will be the only brown girl," Hao's eyes immediately softened, "And she won't have Hao-sama to make her feel less lonely." Hao crouched down to her level and placed one hand on her shoulder and the other under her chin, tilting it upwards to face him.

"There is nothing wrong with being the only brown person in your class. No one is going to chastise you for that, and if they do tell a teacher, or better yet, tell me so I can kick their butts." Opacho let out a childish giggled, before nodding her head.

"Know that you're starting school now because you are brilliant. You have a brilliant mind and you're only three years of age. If anything, the other students should aspire to be like you." Hao gave a the child a kiss on her forehead before petting her on the head.

"Is Opacho going to be okay?" Hao smiled before nodding his head. The teen scooped her into his arms and held her tight. Luchist's tall frame appeared at the door frame.

"Are you two ready to shake a leg?" Hao looked down at Opacho and begin to wiggle his whole body.

"My legs are already shaking." Luchist cracked a wide grin, and Opacho laughed whilst mimicking Hao's silly actions. The three snagged some breakfast for the trip before Hao placed Opacho in her car seat before closing the car door.

"You sure you don't want a ride to school?" Luchist asked, poking his head out of the window. Hao shook his head.

"Thank you Luchist, but I feel more comfortable walking. I'll be sure to pick Opacho up on my way home though. Thank you anyway, Luchist." Luchist gave Hao a curt nod before starting up the engine and driving the three year old off to school. Opacho kicked her little legs as the buildings passed her buy.

"You excited?" Luchist asked, his eyes drifting back and forth onto Opacho through the rear-view mirror.

"Mmmm. Opacho doesn't know." She said, playing with the buckles on her shoes.

"To think, if Hao-sama had succeeded in claiming the great spirits, I don't think we'd be here like this right now." Luchist mused, letting out a slight snort. Opacho sighed, taking her thumb into her mouth.

"The old Hao-sama would have burned down the schools." Luchist nodded in agreement. "Opacho likes the new Hao-sama, he's a lot more happy than he used to be." The car was filled with silence as they drove to the school.

Luchist parked outside of a neat one story building. After unbuckling Opacho from her car seat, the two went inside to the reception.

"Hello there madam, " Luchist said leaning over the receptionist's desk, "Me and my... God daughter are here, uh, it's her first day." The woman behind the desk adjusted her glasses on her nose before turning to Luchist.

"And, would that be for, Ohachiyo Doujin?" She said, the gleam from her desktop glared on the side of her face.

"Opacho!" The woman leaned over her desk and looked down at the little african child, who intern looked up at her. The woman's eyes widened slightly but it that stare soon dissolved into a kind smile.

"Opacho?" Her eyes drifted up to Luchist.

"Ah yes, Opacho is her nickname, she has trouble pronouncing Ohachiyo."

"Opachio!" The receptionist chuckled before gathering forms together on her desk.

"Well then Opacho, I'll take you to your new class, and you Mr. Doujin, need to fill out some forms for me, if you would."

"Mr. Lasso, please. Doujin is Opacho's adopted father, who unfortunately had other matters to attend to." The receptionist nodded.

"I shall be sure to remember that Mr. Lasso." The receptionist turned her attention back to Opacho. "Now how about I take you to your class." She said extending her hand to the three year old. Opacho took her satchel and lunch-box from Luchist before taking the woman's hand.

"Bye bye Luchist!" The three year old said with a smile.

"Goodbye, little lady. And don't forget to wait for Hao-sama when he comes to pick you up okay?"

"Opacho knows~" She wined, being sure to drag out her syllables. With a wave from Luchist and a kiss blown from Opacho, the receptionist led the African girl down a colourful corridor filled with hand drawn pictures, and finger paintings. The receptionist stopped at one of the many doors and opened it, revealing of about 20 children, sitting quietly in front of their teacher.

"Hello, Miss Kawai, I have a new member for you." The receptionist chimed, the teacher was taken aback slightly, but her surprise then reduced into a calm smile.

"Why, hello there," she said looking down at Opacho, "My name is Miss Kawai, and I'll be your new teacher. Would you like to introduce yourself?"

Opacho shuffled forward, bowing her head before saying, "My name is Doujin Opacho. Hello."

"Hello, Opacho." The class chimed in unison.

"Why don't you come and sit down with everyone. I'm sure someone here would like to be Opacho's friend and show her around." Hands shot up instantly, eager to be the one to show the African child. The teacher hummed before pointing at one student who was sat perfectly with her hand up, not making a sound. "Oyamada Mannako, why don't you be little Opacho's friend. Opacho is a lot younger that most of you so I expect you to set a good example." Mannako smiled placing her head down silently.

Opacho was quite surprised at seeing her new buddy. Oyamada Mannako was almost a spitting image for Manta. After doing a little bit of digging, Opacho had found Mannako to be Manta's little sister. Opacho had wondered is Mannako too could see spirits, or even had shamanic potential within her. Perhaps she needed a little bit of prodding. At break time, everyone had ran outside to play, Mannako had led Opacho to a tree behind the play area to sit down and eat snacks.

"I like your hair, Opacho. It looks all fluffy like a little black sheep." Opacho laughed a little.

"Opacho likes sheep," the African hummed whilst eating a strawberry, "Mannako's brother is Manta, right?" Mannako quirked a brow.

"How do you know my brother? Also, why do you speak in the third person, aren't you supposed to be smart?"

"Opacho met Manta ages ago, and Opacho is the smartest! She can read minds, and everything!" Huffed Opacho.

Mannako snorted. "If you can read minds, what am I thinking?" She said leaning in slightly, Opacho pouted.

"Why stop there? Opacho can tell you better things, like how Mannako's favourite colour is pink, or that her mama's name is Keiko, or that she has a pile of little dollies she has tea parties with, or that when her brother left to go on his trip she felt really lonely." Mannako shifted in place.

"YOU CAN READ MINDS!" She hollered. Opacho smiled proudly and took another strawberry into her mouth. "Can you see ghosts too?" Opacho nearly choked on her strawberry.

"Why?"

"Nii-san always went on about ghosts being real... Are they?" Opacho kneeled forward and whispered into Mannako's ear.

"Ghosts are real, but that's a secret."

"Can you see them?" Mannako whispered back, Opacho only nodded. "Can my brother?" She nodded again. "Will I be able to?" Opacho shrugged.

"Maybe when you're bigger."

"Can you teach me?" Opacho shrugged, "Oh please, please, please, please! Opacho, you can be my ghosty sensei!"

"Opacho can try... But only in secret! Opacho's papa can't know. He's not supposed to know about that stuff."

"Why not?" Opacho put a finger over her lips and shushed Mannako. "Is that a secret to?" Opacho nodded. "Well fine, you don't have to tell me that secret. But you will tell me ghosty secrets, right?"

"Yep! And, Mannako can be Opacho's first girly friend! We can have tea parties, and play dress up. I never get to play dress up." Mannako gasped.

"Never ever?" She shook her head. "Well we cannot have that now can we. We have to have tea parties, and sleepovers and play dress up, and play dollies! We can be best friends!" Opacho squeaked out of happiness, and hugged Mannako tightly.

"Bestest-estest friends!" Mannako hugged Opacho back, giggling slightly at the other girls giddiness.

The day went on quickly after break time. Soon five O'clock came by and the children started to get picked up. Opacho and Mannako waited together on a bench. Not one minuet after the end of the day, Hao rounded the corner of the schools gates and Opacho dashed straight for him, jumping into his arms.

"Hao-sama!" She cried, nuzzling into her head against Hao's neck. "Come, come, meet Opacho's friend!" The three year old wriggled out of Hao's grasp and dragged him back to Mannako. "Mannako, this is Opacho's papa, Hao-sama!"

"Hello Mr. Doujin. You look awfully young to be a daddy." Hao snickered slightly.

"The years have been kind," he smirked flicking hair over a shoulder, Mannako laughed, "It's a pleasure to meet you Mannako-chan" he took the child's hand and placed a kiss on the back of her hand. The young girl's face turned as read as a tomato. Before Mannako could fathom a response a car parked out side of th gates and a horn honked.

"Uhh, I have to go now. It was nice meeting you!" Mannako gave a bow and ran into the fancy car. "See you tomorrow Opacho!" She hollered from the car before it drove off.

Hao turned to Opacho, and scooped her up into his arms. "So, did you feel lonely being the only brown person in class?" He said stroking Opacho's afro. The child shook her head with a smile on her face.

"Everyone was nice. They all loved Opacho's hair, and Mannako-chan is my best friend! Can she come over for sleepovers and tea parties?"

"Only if her parents are okay with it." Opacho bounced in Hao's arms giggling. The child felt happy knowing she had made a friend on her first day of school. Opacho shuddered to think that if Hao had claimed the Great Spirits she never would have met Mannako.

"Hao-sama..." Hao hummed in response, "Opacho's happy that you made her go to school."

Hao laid a kiss Opacho's forehead, before the two set off for home.

Also, Mannako is Manta's sister from the manga, and Manta's mama is also called Keiko like Yoh's how funny is that. There is too little Mannopacho in this world, they'd be so cute as besties!
