Chapter 9: New Discoveries, New Look, New Feelings

November 14th, 20XX. 7;15 AM

The next morning, the blood red sky that shone above before now has faded away to that of a cement gray tone with streaks of white scattered across the landscape. Large yet menacing cumulonimbus clouds littered over the city signifying a storm is sure to be abrew. In less than just a few minutes, Zim had woken up to a small abrupt sound of thunder miles away from his house. Surprisingly, when he awoke, he felt no fatigue or drowsiness whatsoever. It was like he had slept on The Universe's Most Comfortable Couch. As he walked towards his lab's main elevator and stepped in, he heard Mischief's voice echo through his head,

"Morning partner, sleep well I presume?" Mischief asked.

"Zim has never slept like that in a while, it was much blissful." Zim answered. Mischief felt happy and satisfaction at it's hosts response.

When Zim had exited through the toilet conveniently placed in his kitchen, yet again he wasn't surprised GIR had made breakfast for him. But instead of the typical waffle getup, he had made pancakes with a side of bacon alongside. Zim specifically noticed the bacon first on the plate and smirked, it brought back a good memory of one of his other "original" plans which involved a abnormally large zit he had and some hypnotized school kids interrogating Dib about a weakness that he had found in his base prior that day. But that's a story for another time. Zim strolled towards to one of the empty chairs and sat down. Before eating, Zim decided to wait for GIR before he began chowing down, but today to no avail. He figured he had made it prior to him waking up and left to do whatever things a SIR unit does.

"Hey Mischief, Zim has a question for you to answer." Mischief within Zim's mindscape soon heard his hosts call and answered,

"What is it?" Mischief wondered,

"Don't you eat anything?" Mischief already knew the answer to that,

"Well, yes but it's not what you normally would assume, we Klyntar thrive off our host's emotions, mainly from strong emotion like either rage or excitement, the more stronger these feelings are active, the more we have to feed upon the emotion to keep us satisfied." Zim slightly freaked out,

"So your going to eat every bit of emotion Zim has until Zim is nothing but a disheveled and emotionless shell?!"

Mischief sighed and explained to Zim what it was trying to get at,

"No partner, the only time we feed off your emotions is if the current emotion you feel at said time is strong and present, we don't feed off our hosts emotions whenever we please."

Zim kinda felt at ease in that statement. I mean it's not like he's going to end up like the Dib-sister. But he still didn't feel ok about it quite yet.

"However, we do have a substitution to said first method" Zim laid back and listened,

"Since you are not aware of that much actual knowledge of the humans, I will share with you what I've found."

Now to Zim, this sentence would be the jackpot if he was on his special mission, that is if it was real in the first place. Stoopid Tall Green People.

"There is a chemical in the human brain known as Phenethylamine, this certain chemical is what keeps us to stay stable and healthy, it's also founded in chocolate." Zim stopped eating for second and remembered yet another event from the past, it was when the school held a candy-bar selling contest sponsored by the man, the myth, the legend Poop Dog and he had tried to sell a whole ton of them just to see what the so-called "secret prize". The experience itself was somewhat amusing but not great either. Especially after the delivery with one of the elderly on his block. Zim got off the chair and went behind couch in his living room to find a pile of Poop Candy Bars stocked up,

"Well would you look at that, I'd figure GIR would stock up on these things, even though it makes him sick, he'd still eat them."

Zim returning his main attention back to Mischief, "Would this satisfy y-" But before Zim could finish, Mischief popped out the side of Zim's arm suddenly and began to literally stuff itself not paying much mind to Zim behind him staring in awe at how fast Mischief ate. When Mischief's crave was fulfilled, about half of GIR's stash was gone in the aftermath,

"Hope GIR doesn't mind that about half of his prized goodies are gone."

Zim thought as he sweatdropped with a faint grin. He went back to the kitchen with a content Mischief growling within their mind link. Zim soon had an empty plate and stood up heading for the front door to leave for Skool once more. But as he was about to activate his disguise, Mischief had something in mind for Zim he'd enjoy.

"Zim, we have been meaning to show you a glimpse of what we can do." Zim now being more open decided to listen, "Zim is listening." He simply said,

"We'll start off with the most basic one we have, it's an attribute of ours you may find that's effective for your daily needs, it's our ability to produce an endless supply of webbing."

Zim looked confused, "How is that beneficial to Zim, Zim doesn't find use in a strand made of a silky...thingy from a mere foolish Earth bug." Mischief mentally facepalmed and decided he needed a visual demonstration for him to understand,

"Here, we need you in our symbiotic state for this to work." Zim understood and soon enough, he was engulfed within as Mischief spread across Zim's body. Seconds after the transformation process was completed, Zim slowly opened his eyes and said in very distorted and hoarse voice,

"Eh, Zim doesn't feel much different." He scratched his head in confusion,

"You may not feel different right now, but your physical appearance is highly different due to our own influence alone." Mischief mentioned. Zim looked dumbfounded,

"In what ways exactly?" Mischief gave a invisible smirk and said,

"See for yourself."

Zim made his way to the bathroom and went to look in the mirror. The word surprised was an understatement. Zim screamed for almost thirty seconds straight after seeing the monster he now has become. Mischief couldn't help but laugh at its hosts reaction. It was probably one of the few sparks of pure joy it had felt in a while.

"Why has Zim become one of those gelatinous Gak thingies Zim has seen advertised on TV?!" Zim exclaimed with a horrified yet baffling shout as he sporadically looked over every nook and cranny of his body,

"Calm down partner, it is just us." Zim let out a sigh of relief over knowing the fact it was just Mischief and not some weird germ that had infected his body.

"Now, you see in this state by from what your reaction already had obviously pointed out is that your physical appearance has drastically changed from you in your regular state, some of the most prominent and notable changes are your mouth, hands, eyes, and everything overall."

Zim did have already noted that his fingers or claws now for a better term were more riigid, same went for his now multiple small bladed antennae after feeling them, but what about his face? When he looked back up to the mirror, his eyes had a more jagged and spike like pattern as his eyes were a milky white coloration. Caressing the side of his cheek, he gazed upon his face from his left to his right. It was now a blend of magenta and black, the top half dripping with black goo as the bottom half was fully draped in magenta as it reached down until it hit the bottom of his neck collar where it was slightly dribbling as well.

Next, Zim had begun checking and feeling around his torso. Unlike his facial region, it was coated in all black with the most notable being the Irken insignia smack dab in the center. Finally, he lifted up both of his boots one at a time to see the color shared the same amount of dominance as it has on his face. He put his index claw towards the side of his mouth and stretched it making his teeth mesh into a generic grin,

"Great Irk, Zim's teeth are more sharp than that scythe the Dib-worm calls a haircut now." Zim said in a joking tone. Mischief now knowing Zim has gotten acquainted with the symbiotic state's form, it now finally was time for the real fun to begin.

"Alright partner, now would you kindly please step outside?" Mischief asked considerately.

"Eh, sure. Zim has already got plans to go somewhere else to be anyway." Zim said as he exited his humble abode. When they had stepped upon the sidewalk. Mischief instructed him to do the following,

"You see that two-story household over to you're right, put your claw into a fist."

Zim did so as white and silky webbing shot out as a fast rate from the knuckles of his hands as it stuck on the front of the house,

"Good, now just jump." Zim still listening to the tips coming from Mischief's words did as he was instructed and was soon swung upwards high into the air. Zim soon felt the small the breeze under the foundation of his feet as he soon realized where he was,

"Aaaah, help Zim, Zim is not ready to die yet!" Zim said as he spastically flapped his imaginative wings as he fell towards the ground,

"Stay calm partner, just repeat what we just taught you."

Zim saw the next tallest building he saw and just shot at it in a state of panic then just repeated what Mischief said. He managed to keep this up for the next few buildings until he soon was swinging at a steady pace,

"See partner, you're a natural, keep it up!"

Zim looked and realized he was doing it well on his first try. Zim felt daring and propelled himself upwards higher than ever before the next building he saw. His arms and legs spread wide across as he screamed to the sky,

"Zim has never felt so alive!"

Author's Note: I haven't delved that much into the abilities that Mischief has but it'll be further expanded upon later on. Like the Klyntar in the Marvel universe, Mischief still will retain its vulnerability to sonic vibrations and fire as well its urge to feed off its hosts emotions. But I've decided that I will keep that attribute inactive until Zim loses control. But for now as a substitution, Mischief will feed off chocolate to keep itself sane and overall healthy. I'm not going to Mary Sue the shit out of Mischief, because everybody knows balance is key to making a good original character. Anyways, hope you enjoyed the chapter and I'll see you in the next one. Bye!
