Chapter 10: Old Friends New Tricks Part 2

Finally the number of nightmares died down to only a few. Then it was just one that was left and it slowly galloped around Jack Frost, as if giving him a warning, or was sizing him up then left.

The second it left Jack turned around immediately to see if Pitch was still lingering around, hopefully with Jamie somewhere close by. But as he kept searching the darker parts of Tokyo, his hope in the theory wavered to near nothingness. Jack lashed his staff at air only to send a spark of frost at an abandoned building, sending frost halfway up the building.

It wasn't possible! Pitch was gone for so long and all of a sudden he comes back? Where and who produced enough fear for the Nightmare king to get back into control or something near it? The teen quickly flew up to the skies ready to vent his frustration into a massive blizzard in early spring but saw some of Sandy's sand tendrils gliding through the air.

I should have remembered, Jack thought as he raced toward Sandman's main sand cloud. Really, Jamie could still be here right now and—

His thoughts were instantly stopped as Sandy popped out of nowhere and then in front of Jack. Above the dream makers head were a blur of images that Jack could only barely make out. He saw the teen's very confused face and slowed down his images making it easier to make out.

"You saw Pitch too?" Jack asked surprised. This now brought up a whole range of possibilities! Maybe they could—

"What?" Sandy had just made up a few more images and it showed him and a bunch of nightmares…fighting. The dream maker nodded mutely and looked around. Jack took that as an option to ask.

"Do you want to help me find him, please?" The teen asked, taking Sandy's concentration on something else away. Sandy looked at him for a moment then nodded. Jack smiled and did a small whoop of joy but Sandy put a finger to his lips. An image of Bunnymund, North, and then Tooth came over his head, then a question mark.

"Yeah, I guess they can come too! Come on, I think there's a guardian's meeting coming up in a while."

Sandy gave him a deadpan stare causing Jack to shrug.

"I never said I'd come to them all, and me and Jamie were in the middle of something…important." Sandy rolled his eyes and moved around his sand cloud to get a snow globe and handed it to Jack.

He looked over and for a moment was confused but quickly stopped when he remembered Sandy didn't talk. So he said, "The North Pole" and threw the portal, which opened up almost immediately, helping Jack's haste greatly. Without saying anything else, he jumped through the portal and into the room.

"Jack! It is good to see you, no?" North said happily as he got up to greet the spirit. Jack put his hands up to stop him but North must have not seen this motion and went straight for the bear hug, which included raising Jack a foot in the air and crushing a few of his bones.

"Yeah," Jack wheezed as he was lowered quickly from the rib crushing hug. "But I've got something to tell you. Its…about Jamie."

North quickly sobered up and had a more serious air to him. Bunnymund, who looked slightly irritated at the start, had his ears twitch a little and tensed up. Tooth stopped fluttering around quickly and went to North's side, probably scared to get too close to the teen in case of pressure.

"Jack, it is okay if he stopped believing—"

"No, no, he does still believe," Everyone quickly sighed breathes of relief, but Jack didn't look like he wanted to continue. Sandy floated forward and put a hand on Jack's shoulder and when Jack looked over, he saw a look of encouragement.

Though it was just a look, it did wonders for help and Jack continued a bit stronger.

"He's been kidnapped—but he'd probably want me to call it teen-napped—by Pitch." To his surprise, they only groaned, except for Tooth, in frustration. But Tooth gasped and fluttered to Jack, giving him a tight, long hug.

"How did it happen? You know what, forget it. Let's find Jamie now." Tooth said quickly and quietly enough for only Jack to hear and for no one to be suspicious about. He smiled for a brief moment, thinking about how lucky he was to have these people around, and then regaining himself to think of what to do next as Tooth let go.

"We'll find 'im, Snowflake," Bunnymund piped up. "And it's been a while since we've seen the guy so it can't be that hard. But whateva it takes, we'll get him mate."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

There has to be some way to make it obvious that Jamie did not, under any circumstance want to be brought back.

He already knew what would happen after seeing so many superhero movies. He, in the place of the 'damsel in distress'—He hated the thought of it but that's the only thing he seemed to fit in—, Jack would be the superhero guy, the guardians his sidekick, something like extra Robins, and Pitch would be the bad guy.

The bad guy would hold the damsel in distress to get the superhero to do whatever he wanted, and the superhero would fake into helping and the sidekick—or sidekicks in this case—would bust out of nowhere and get the bad guy.

But this wasn't the case.

Yeah, the bad guy has the damsel in distress but there is nothing he wants other than to use the damsel in distress—why was he calling himself that again? Oh yeah…comic book logic—and then who knows what. But the superhero wouldn't let that happen so he would come in with his sidekicks, blaze a glory of course. And in the end the bad guy would probably hurt the superhero, causing the damsel in distress to blame himself—yeah, this was now at an all-time weird—for a very long time.

Jamie got up from the spot he was sitting and walked around. He didn't know where Pitch had the time to calculate this whole dumb plan and had the time to know where Jamie and Jack would be. He ran over and kicked the wall angrily. He had been stalked by Pitch Black, the nightmare freaking king, and hadn't even noticed either! And yet he remembered the times where he felt a cold draft even though there wasn't a single breeze or eyes practically staring straight through and when he turned around, he would see nothing.

Honestly, he had to say he had the most bizarre life ever for someone at fourteen. Being stalked by a scary spirit, best friends with a winter dude, and having his teeth checked by a hybrid hummingbird-lady.

"Now is not the time to be wallowing in self-pity, Bennett. Come." Before the teen did as he was told he crossed his arms and huffed.

"Are we seriously going into that last name thing now? Really, I sorta think you could be Draco Malfoy or something." Jamie waved his hand in dismissal at Pitch's confused face and walked out of the room. Step one to getting the guy frustrated for amusement complete.

"Alright I'm not 'wallowing in self-pity' anymore. So…whaddaya want?" Pitch was now in the lead and looked back to see Jamie smirk slightly. This kid. Pitch thought without thinking of other rude things. Is trying to kill me or is trying to get killed. Either way this is strange.

"I'm going to show you my plan, Bennett. Or are you too scared to see it?"

"Are not Malfoy. Just watch." Once again the confused face came up and he could help himself as he laughed while explaining.

"I don't know your last name, so I think I'll call you Malfoy from now on. And no, you can't make me stop." The man looked back furiously and kept going, now not wanting to talk to the very peculiar teen.

They kept walking in silence until they got to the main part of the lair where Pitch immediately turned around. Jamie didn't notice though, looking around the foreign land, and bumped into the man.

"When you get up, you will see what I'm talking about." Pitch drawled quietly not even bothering to help him up, instead dusting off whatever random dust was on his robe. Of course, Jamie thought sarcastically. Act even more evil than you should.

"So, what's supposed to make me so—" In front of Jamie was something very freaky, very, very freaky.

"What the heck? Is that…why is it…Uhh, what?" The teen said very smartly. The man looked over at his creation and smirked. If it could make him shocked, them wouldn't it give the winter spirit a good fear?

"Yes, I thought you'd like it. This new nightmare was thought up with the help of you." Jamie looked at him incredulously.

"Well no duh! The thing literally looks like me!" He got up now and walked over to the nightmare recreation of himself and snorted. It was like him, but covered in black and having yellow eyes.

"Umm, what's making him stare at me? Do I have something on my shirt…?"

"No, he simply doesn't have a task to follow yet."

"Then can you give him a task? Like," He glared directly at the nightmare this time. "Not staring at me!" It stared back blankly with not a single reaction.

"He only follows my directions, Bennett. I swear—"

"If I were any dumber, I'd be going backwards. Yes, I get it!" Jamie growled as he crossed his arms. The nightmare made the same motion. This ended up into a mini montage of random motions and crazy faces. It stopped at him doing a funny face while standing on one foot when Pitch cleared his throat.

"When you're done playing around, we need to send him away." Jamie stopped immediately and looked up to the taller individual.

"Why are you going to—OWW! Will you tell me when you pull on my hair?" Pitch did not reply—which made Jamie fume with anger—and looked at the hair he pulled out. He spoke a few unnoticeable words and tossed the hair that he plucked, as if it wasn't of use to him anymore.

Jamie looked at him in disbelief and was about to start an unintelligible sentence when he saw the nightmare him slowly fill in with color.

"Now we can take him there." Pitch moved forward but Jamie got in his way, hands out and still glaring furiously.

"No way," He said calmly, although he was shanking in rage. "It's not—"

"Fair?" Pitch interjected quietly. "Who said I was doing this to be fair, of all things." The man chuckled softly and moved the teen away, a bit harshly I might add.

The darker Jamie walked forward and stared blankly at the regular one. It was dressed exactly like Jamie and now that he was in color, the resemblance was uncanny, especially the eyes. He didn't know his eyes could look like they literally stared into someone's soul. Pitch and the nightmare stood in front of each other for a moment then the nightmare stepped back and shadow traveled away.

"I still think this isn't fair, Malfoy. Honestly, when did the guardians ever do something like this to you?"

Pitch scoffed and put his nose to the air as he heard the last name. "They don't need to do anything, Bennett. They have already done enough to me."

There was a silence that was a bit unnerving until Jamie turned around to talk again.

"You know not everything is about getting even, right?"

He didn't bother to go after the boy or even scold him, but left him to do whatever teens do when they're angry, as long as he didn't break anything. He will learn his lesson later though, Pitch mused. After what he will see happens to the Guardians, he will learn.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

It was the middle of the night but they were still bringing up ideas. Jack thought they should just drop everything and find Jamie but everyone thought it was a half-baked idea and kept thinking of ideas. At the moment they were on using the snow globes to find him when a sweep of wind came through the room.

Everyone turned to look at Jack, but he was oblivious to this as he was looking around too. Jack looked back to everyone and their suspicious faces and raised his hands in denial.

"I didn't do it. Now, if I did it the fire would have been put out." He gestured to the fireplace they were all sitting near, Jack the farthest, and smirked when it didn't blink. A moment or so passed he was ready for everyone to say their apologies when the fire flickered and dimmed considerably.

Again the heads turned in Jack's direction with faces of confusion which instantly turned to shock. Jack looked around to see what caused this new change of emotion and looked around to find Jamie standing happily right behind him. It was enough to make the older teen break out in an instant grin that came on his face and quick dash to hug the younger.

"Jamie, your okay I can't believe it! How did you get out?!" Jack did happily, shaking him as if to check he was still awake. Jamie pointed to his neck and frowned a bit.

"So you can't speak right now?"

Jamie shook his head silently and bought up an encourage smile, trying to bring back up Jack's spirits. To say it worked was an understatement. The winter spirit smiled once again and turned around to show that they now have their most faithful believer back.

They went over to the globe room to quietly look at it, marveling at its greatness in blissful silence and went over to look through the kitchen.

"It's great to have you back Jamie."

Oh, how wrong they were then.

A/N: I think the hardest thing about this chapter was making Pitch not sound like Voldemort all the time. Other than that it was just length. So I'm not even going to go into length about what you should do because you should already know by now. And now I'll respond to some Anonymous reviews:

Guest- Thanks! I try making the titles as fun sounding as possible.

Ana- Aww, thank you. And I'm going to continue with Alec and Jack hopefully but not all the time I guess.
