Sorry for the frickin' wait. My computer is slow as hell and I couldn't find any websites with episodes of Gargoyles. I'll probably be able to write more since winter break is coming in a week.
I'm sorry to Stephanie Phelps. I won't be turning Alex to a complete gargoyle. I have my plans for the story. Sorry.
Thanks to KJAX89 for the constructive criticism this past week.
Thanks to everyone who's been reading and reviewing so far. I really appreciate it.
On with the story!
Alex POV
A week has passed since Broadway accidentally shot Elisa. Elisa's been released from the hospital but she has to take things easy. That's why her captain assigned her to a light field like working in the station. Elisa is not happy with it but deals with it since she is still able to work. The clan is careful with Elisa, trying to help her with her crutches. Goliath and Broadway are more careful with Elisa. Broadway 'cause he blames himself for shooting her and Goliath because he likes her. I swear it's freaking obvious that they like each other.
After I blacked-out last week, I stormed to Xanatos' jail cell and confronted him that night since I transformed back to a gargoyle.
Flashback to last week
"Xanatos!" I yell low into Xanatos' cell window. He turns his head to look out the window in his laid out form in the bed. He sits up straight in his bed and puts that annoying smile of his on his face.
"Alex, what can I do for you at least late hour?" he cheekily says.
"Why didn't you tell me you had contact with the company?" I hiss at him.
"What company?" he seems innocent but he's the freaking devil.
"Tech-Life," I growl, controlling my anger. I can't let him win.
"Ah, yes. Tech-Life," Xanatos pretends to be deep in thought. "Owen and I had our suspicion on them but we didn't know for sure," I growl at his response. Damn them both. "We didn't want to give you false information."
"At least we me some information," my grey tail wings wildly. "Next time you have information, tell me. Or the gargoyles will have your head," I spit back at him and leave before he can say anything else. If I stay, he would have said something to win the conversation and I'm not going to let him win.
Flashback ends
Right now, the guys are chilling in the peaceful night. Hudson watches a Donald Duck episode while Bronx eats his bone. Goliath sits in the library, reading another one of the million books in there. Broadway cooks a soup. His food is good after he learned to cook. Lexington, Brooklyn and I sit in the dining table playing another round of cards.
I got rid of my cards so the ones left are Lexington and Brooklyn. Lexington wears a cheeky grin. He shows his cards; three aces. Brooklyn grumbles and lowers his cards which are useless ones.
"I swear I oughta…" Brooklyn grumbles and spreads his wings as if to attack Lexington. Lexington laughs at his brother's defeat. I sigh and grab his claw to calm him down. Lexington gathers the cards and starts shuffling them professionally. Brooklyn eyes him carefully.
Elisa comes walking in the dining room with her crutches. I have no idea how Elisa is able to use those crutches. They seem hard to use and painful for the arms. Elisa walks up to us and pants for some air. "Have you guys seen Goliath?"
"I think he is in the library," Lexington stops shuffling and looks to Elisa.
Brooklyn takes his eyes off of his rookery brother and turns to Elisa. "Yeah, same place as always," I'm surprised that Goliath knows how to read. He taught himself after being a month in the new world. He became a pro at reading in less than a month! Soon after, Lexington and Brooklyn learned to read.
"Thanks," Elisa says before turning around on her crutches and walks away.
"Need any help, Elisa?" I say, already getting up from my seat.
Elisa turns around and gives a little wave. "I'm good," she continues to walk away into the hallway. I look into her direction until her back can't be seen anymore.
"You are cheating!"
"No I'm not!"
"Yes you are!"
"Prove it!"
"You-!"
I swiftly take the cards away from Lexington's and Brooklyn's claw. "I'm shuffling so chill," the two seem to be in a glaring match for a moment but simmer down into their seats. Brothers.
Normal POV
Across from town, Xanatos lays in his jail bed, thinking. On the wall, a calendar hangs. One day is circled and only a few more days till it's actually that day and Xanatos is out.
In the morning, Xanatos sits across from Owen with a glass window in between them. "All in all, I'd say my stay here has been a learning experience," Xanatos sums up to his assistant.
"One more week and you're free," Owen tries to cheer up his boss, dully. "You've never said what you want done about the gargoyles," he changes the subject to a more important one. "It would be easy enough to destroy them during the day."
Xantos thinks of the suggestion. "I suppose. But it seems like such a waste," he taps his fingertips. "Still, I can't have them underfoot when I get home."
Suddenly, the door opens and a guard enters with his head down making the hat cover most of his face. Owen looks down to his watch. "I believe I still have ten minutes."
The guard looks to the two men in the room. He has a deep colored cream skin and white hair and a beard on his face. Though the looks old, his body seems to be in a good shape. "Take all the time you want. I'm here with a proposition for Mr. Xanatos," he calmly states his reason for disrupting their conversation earlier.
"I'm listening," Xanatos places his chin his fingers, curious of the man's words.
The mysterious guard garbs one of the extra seats in the room and sits backwards in it. "I understand you have a small infestation," he finds a word suitable to hide the gargoyles true identity.
"I don't recall phoning pest control," Xanatos shakes his head.
"I'm familiar with the nature of these pests," the guard tries to keep Xanatos' interest. "And for a price, I'll take them off your hands."
"I see," Xanatos soothes his goatee, believing the man would want money but still keeps an eye for what he really wants. "And how would you go about this, Mr.…"
"Call me Macbeth."
At sunset
Sunset is only a matter of minutes away and Macbeth stands on top of the castle's tower. Surrounding him are the seven gargoyles, each on their own pedestal. He waits patiently for the sun to set and takes the time to look at the gargoyles. They all seem to be from the same time as Demona. You can see it clearly by the clothing the gargoyles wear. One gargoyle though, Alex, catches his attention. She isn't dressed as the others and looks more humane. Macbeth's memory clicks when he has a slight memory of her.
Macbeth is clicked out of his thoughts when someone can be heard coming up the stairs. With much struggle, Elisa is able to make it to the top of the tower before sunset. Elisa notices the unknown man and quickly gets in a protective aura. "Hey, what are you doing here?"
"I would hate to spoil the surprise by telling you, my lady," Macbeth talks in an ancient way to the detective.
"I hate surprises," Elisa takes out her badge and shows it to him, stating her authority over him. "Now who are you?"
"I'm called Macbeth," he answers, knowing this woman would be hard to deceive.
Elisa barely registers his name because she has her attention somewhere else. The sun looks ready to set in just a few seconds. "Let's step inside and discuss this," she warmly says.
"You protect no secrets, madam," Macbeth turns his view away from her and places it on the gargoyles. "I know all about these creatures," he says as if they are common beings like the others in the world. Elisa is not so sure of this man and hopes nothing bad occurs.
Sun finally sets and the city dwells in the darkness. The gargoyle statues have an eerie green glow to them. Cracks start to appear on the statues and soon, the gargoyles are stretching their sore limbs. Roars and yawns sound loud enough for the whole sky to hear.
The gargoyles turn from their stance and see their friend, along with another human. Lexington is the first one to speak up. "Elisa, who is you friend?"
Elisa gives them all an unsure look from behind Macbeth. Broadway and Bronx are first to react and jump down from their pedestal to be in front of Macbeth. "You ok, Elisa? This guy bothering you?"
"I'm here to offer an invitation. Leave this drafty, old castle and be guests at my home," he speaks calmly. The gargoyles all give him a suspicious look. No one openly welcomes them into their homes, so what does he want?
"I'm afraid we must refuse," Goliath strongly states. He gives an intimidating look to Macbeth but Macbeth just shoos it away.
"And I'm afraid I must insist," he flips his long coat behind him and places his hands on weapons on either side of him. Elisa notices the weapons and quickly gets out of harms reach. "I did not stoop so low as to attack you while you slept but now-"
"I don't like you attitude," Broadway softly shoves Elisa behind him and steps up in front of Macbeth. "I think you better leave-"Broadway points a talon at Macbeth's face. Macbeth acts quickly and death grips Broadway's wrist and throws him over to Hudson's direction. Hudson and Broadway fall under their combined weight and drop to the castle's grounds.
"Hey!" Alex makes a step up front to go for Macbeth but he acts fast and throws some silver balls at them. Gas is released from the silver balls, making the gargoyles and human cough for air.
Macbeth, not affected by the gas, puts on night vision goggles and looks to the group. He counts them and notices that one is not there. Growls and barks are heard behind him and he moves out of the way just as Bronx comes running at him. Bronx then tackles Lexington and they both drop to the ground. Macbeth shoots them an electrifying net and the two gargoyles become unconscious.
Alex takes a deep breath of fresh air and lunges for Macbeth. Macbeth's reflexes kick in and he jumps out of the way. Alex continues to lung at Macbeth but Macbeth is a slimy snake. Getting angry at the mouse chase, Alex jumps of the tower and glides. She looks for Macbeth in the thick gas. Once she is able to find him, she dives in straight for him. Macbeth though, grabs Alex and throws her at Brooklyn.
Brooklyn and Alex both fall to the ground and get up. Macbeth jumps down from the tower, a few feet away from the two, and shoots them an electrifying net. Their bodies are painfully shocked and they both pass out in a few seconds.
Goliath has had enough of this and jumps down from the tower. Macbeth sees Goliath jumping down and takes a different gun out and shoots a laser at Goliath. Goliath barely misses the shot, making the shot head for the tower wall, destroying it. The leader of the clan hits the ground hard. He tries to get up but is hardly kicked by Macbeth from behind. Goliath hits a power energy, shocking him with the electricity. A fire starts on the power energy.
Owen comes out of the castle walls and walks up behind Macbeth. "Mr. Macbeth, Mr. Xanatos hired you to fumigate his castle, not destroy it," Owen slightly annoyed says to Macbeth.
"Quiet right. We'll continue this elsewhere," Owen leaves without another word and Macbeth and pulls out a controller. He tampers with it a bit and above in the sky, an aircraft hovers above the castle. Wire hooks lower down and hook on to the electrifying nets of Brooklyn & Alex and Lexington & Bronx.
Goliath tries to shake off his pain but fails. He sees his clan members being wired up to an airship and Macbeth running up the stairs. Shaking the pain off for real, Goliath jumps up the tower and glides to Macbeth's ship. The lavender gargoyle gets a grip on the pilot glass and tries banging it open. Macbeth pushes a button and Goliath's body is once again met with pain.
Elisa manages to reach the bottom of the tower to Hudson and Broadway. Suddenly, Goliath's body drops down between them. They all look up to see the aircraft leave with their clan members. Elisa has her face filled with wariness but it quickly changes to one of security.
"Goliath, I know you don't want to hear this right now but you need to find another home," Elisa says solemnly.
"I don't want to hear it!" Goliath yells, turning away from her.
"You're not safe here," Elisa calmly says back. Goliath turns to look at her and stand up in his full height.
"You don't understand. We've lost our clan, our world, our time! This castle is all we have left. We will not abandon it!" Goliath yells his reasons out.
Elisa's anger rises up just as fast as Goliath's. "What! You need a castle to fall on you?! Read my lips," she says the rest of her words more calm. "You're not safe here," Goliath doesn't want to talk or see her anymore so he turns around and walks away from her. Elisa has other plans, though. "What if the next freak job Xanatos hires comes with a sledge hammer high noon?" She follows him. "I can't protect you during the day," she places her hand on his shoulder but Goliath shrugs it off.
"I'm going to find the others," Goliath says as if he hasn't heard a word from Elisa. He walks over to the two remaining gargoyles. "And you two are going to protect our home," maybe he did hear a word or two. Without another order, Goliath climbs up the wall and catches a wind current to take him to the city.
Brooklyn POV
Yeah, that hurt. My body aches so badly. Not even a day's rest of sunlight will be able to fix this. My head thumps hard against my skull. I feel movement around me and hear groans of pain. I can't deal with this throbbing pain in my head so I open my eyes. I look around and see Lexington and Alex sitting. I lift myself up and rub the back of my aching head.
"Brooklyn," Alex has her face filled with worriedness and makes her way over to me. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
"Yeah, my head," I grumbly answer her. Alex sighs a relief and wraps her wings around her shoulders. "Where are we?" I stand up but my heads is hit with a metal roof above us. I grumbly angrily and sits down next to Alex and wrap me wings around me. "Who put us in a cage?" I ask as I notice more of our surroundings. Bronx is in another cage a little farther away from us. He also seems annoyed to be in a cage like a wild animal.
"I see you all have awakened," we all turn out heads to the voice's owner. The old man comes out of the corner of the shadows and grins at us.
"Let us go!" I get in front of Alex and am on all fours with glowing eyes. Lexington does the same along with Bronx.
"It is nice to see you again, my lady," Don't ignore me! I look where he is looking and see that he is talking to Alex. Alex has a confused expression as do the rest of us.
"Have we met before?" Alex cautiously asks. The man chuckles at her question.
"Not face-to-face we have," He grins evilly.
I cover Alex from his view and glare at him. "What do you want?" I ask with a growl.
"You're queen," my eyes stop glowing at his response. Queen? Is he nuts?
"We have no queen," Lexington tells him. The man laughs at us and turns to leave for the staircase.
"Wait, what is your name?" Alex asks his, coming up from behind me.
The man turns to her. Instead of an evil glint in his eyes like before, his eyes are soft. "Macbeth," he turns and walks up the stairs.
"Macbeth-!" Alex goes to the bars of the cage but gets zapped. "Ah!" she holds her claw close to her and backs up from the poles.
"Alex!" I step up to her and inspect her claw. It doesn't seem too bad; just red. Bronx whines and sniffs his own cage. He growls and seems to want to bite it. "Bronx, don't," I say to him. He whines and lowers his ears.
"Damn cage," Alex mumbles and pulls her claw from mine and blows on it to cool it. Water drips on her shoulder and I wash the water off. Suddenly, Alex grabs my claw with her good one and holds her red claw to the dripping water. Well that's one way to cool down a zapped claw.
"Who is this Macbeth?" Lexington wonders out loudly.
"Don't ask me. I'm already on bad terms with him," I grumble and drop me beak on my claw. He talks to Alex like they have known each other for a long time. Just like Alex talks with Owen. I've seen them talk for a few minutes. At first I didn't pay attention to it but she would have little talks with him. I don't know whether to ask her about it or not.
"His name sounds familiar but I can't think of anything," Alex thinks of any ideas. Well I certainly haven't heard of him before.
"Wait, I remember. Goliath was talking about a play called Macbeth," Lexington's face lights up. A play called Macbeth? Then this guy must be a huge fan to call himself that.
"Of course! Shakespeare's play about a king and vengeance," Alex has a 'duh' face.
"Ever read it?" I ask out of the blue. Maybe the play could help us with this guy.
Her face changes to a pout which kinda makes her look cute. "No. I find Shakespeare boring," she grumbles and rests her head on her fist.
"Well, what do you know about it?" Lexington asks, having the same idea as me.
"Just about a boy who had his father murdered. He seeks out vengeance for his father's death," Alex shrugs her shoulders and stops. She tries to think of anything else.
"And?" Lexington asks hurriedly.
Alex gives us a sheepish grin. "Sorry. All I know is that Shakespeare ends his play with a tragedy," Bronx whines and lies down on the ground. Lexington sits and tries to think of some ideas to get out. I have nothing better to do and just sit there.
This place is damp and cold. Water drips from the ceiling and rats crawl from corner to corner. Doesn't this old man clean a bit? Noticing more of the place we're in, it seems like we're in the basement. Wonderful. This cage isn't even built for gargoyles. Three gargoyles in one cage? Bronx is lucky to have his own. We can't even move our arms without hitting one another.
Having nothing better to do, I lift one of my talons and hold it close to the bar until it touches. Shocks go through my talon and to the rest of my body. "Ouch," I grumble and continue to shock myself for no reason. "Ouch…ouch…ouch," I hear a generator give off a sound every time I shock myself.
"How many times are you going to try that?" Lexington asks me annoyed and angry. He would like to tackle me and I would like to tackle him too but there isn't enough space to do that.
"Until you figure out a way to get us out of here," I yell back at him. He scoffs and turns away, giving me his back. I go back to shocking myself.
"Ouch…ouch…ouch…"
"Stop," Alex smacks her claw down on mine and doesn't remove it. I blink at her and move my other claw to the bar. She notices and snacks down my claw with her other claw. We stare at each other. Her beautiful dark purple eyes. They hold so many emotions in her yet she doesn't let them show.
I play with her and move my tail to the bar. "Ouch," she scowls at me and brings her tail down on mine. I laugh at her attempts to make me stop. She just shakes her head but I know she wants to laughs.
"Wait," Lexington comes in between us, making us separate, and points to me. "Do that again."
"Lex," Alex looks disbelievingly at him. I stare disbelievingly at him too. He wants me to shock myself even more? Wasn't he the one asking to stop in the first place?
"Didn't you see how the lights dimmed when you touched it?" He points up to the lights hanging above our cage.
"No, I was too busy trying to shock myself again," I sarcastically say as I hold my shocked claw and rub it. I touch the electrifying pole one more time. This time, I do notice the lights dim.
"Brooklyn," Alex holds my claw firmly. I smile and hold her claw firmly as well.
"Looks like electrifying these bars takes a lot of power," he puts his claw under his chin and thinks. "Maybe we can divert enough power to our cage to let Bronx out of his."
Alex thinks of the idea and nods in agreement. "Might work but…" she drifts off.
"So how do we convert power into our cage?" I ask. They give me these painful looks. Bronx whines on the other side and whimpers. I'm about to ask them what is wrong when the idea hits to me. "Oh, terrific," I drop my beak into the claws. Alex softly places her claw on my shoulder and gives me a supporting smile.
"Get ready," At Lexington's words, all three of us get in position to grab hold of the bars.
"One…"
"…Two…"
"…Three!"
At three, we grab a firm hold of the bars. Electricity flew into my body every place it could flow to. Alex and Lex grunted as they felt the shocks.
"Hurry, Bronx!"
"Get out!"
"Come on!"
Bronx growls at the bars and bits through them. A little bit of electricity might have shocked him but if it did, he didn't feel much as we are. Once we're sure he has gotten out, we let go and let our bodies fall limply to the floor. The pain is too much to resist and I can't hold it anymore and pass out.
Normal POV
All of the young gargoyles groan from their earlier shock and begin to come to. Their bodies are sore and hurt in every place. The original color in their claws isn't the usual color but a bright, hot red glow. Brooklyn's claw looks redder than usual and sting. They all painfully get in a sitting position and resist from leaning to the electrifying bars. Silence fills the air as they wait for the rescue team to find them.
A thought suddenly comes to Alex's mind and she can't help it but ask, "Did gargoyles have a queen before or just leaders and clans?"
The sudden question made Brooklyn and Lexington shake their heads immediately. "No, we've always had Goliath as our leader and a second-in-command," Brooklyn swiftly answers her question. Even though the gargoyles have lived with the humans for a long time, they didn't think of having their own kingdom. They didn't care of the silly human traditions and kept away from them as possible. Alex nods her head at the response but is still deep in thought on the matter.
"Macbeth must have heard wrong information about us," Lexington says, flexing his claw.
"That or he just made it all up to capture us," Brooklyn grumbles. He still doesn't like the idea of being caged like a wild animal.
The three look up to the ceiling when they hear loud banging noises coming from above. Then, a loud roar fills the calm air and echoes throughout the whole place. The three younglings know Goliath is raging with anger. They know Goliath can be overprotective of his clan. Who wouldn't be when they are the only creatures left in the entire world?
"Bronx must've found Goliath," Lexington says tiredly. The other two nods their head, still tired from the shock. Though they are tired, hope is in them because they know that soon they will be able to go home with the rest of their clan.
Bronx comes down the stairs and barks as if saying 'I found him!' Without hesitating, Bronx crashes himself to the electrifying bars of the three's cage. The three gargoyles stare in shock at Bronx for just going in full speed at the shocking power. Bronx, though, isn't fazed by the power and is able to break the bars. An opening is made big enough for the three young gargoyles to come out.
"Good boy," Alex pets Bronx and Bronx happily welcomes the claw. He jumps on her and starts licking her face. "Enough!" Alex laughs.
"Get off her, boy," Brooklyn tries to push Bronx away from Alex but Bronx sticks in place, licking more of Alex's face. "Move!" Brooklyn pushes Bronx with more force. Bronx, instead of going back, jumps forward and lands on top of Brooklyn. Brooklyn is then attacked by the slimy tongue of Bronx.
Lexington laughs at his brother's fail. Alex laughs too but tries to hide it. She then moves over to Bronx and whispers in his ear. Bronx's face lights up and jumps away of Brooklyn. "Oof!" Brooklyn holds his stomach at the painful jump that Bronx gave him.
"Hey!"
Alex and Brooklyn turn to Lexington's direction. They both start laughing at the scene before them. Bronx had jumped on Lexington and started licking his face like he did with Alex and Brooklyn. "I'm glad to see you too, Bronx," Lexington gives up on fighting against Bronx and pets Bronx. Bronx, already had his fun, gets off of Lexington. All the gargoyles wear goofy grins on their faces.
Bronx sniffs the air. This captures the attention of the other gargoyles and they start to sniff the air.
"Is something burning?" Lexington asks as he sniffs the air for a better smell. Alex, Brooklyn and Lexington snap their heads to each other with the same thought. 'Fire!' They run up the stairs and go up to the first floor. Now they know for sure that a fire has being set. Smoke rises and a fire path starts making its way out of the home of Macbeth.
They run to the origin of the fire and see Goliath in the middle of what seems a weaponry room and the fire. Goliath seems ready to jump deeper into the fire but stop when Brooklyn calls for him.
"Goliath!" Brooklyn waves Goliath over. Goliath turns around and sees the three young gargoyles and their guard dog. Making their safety and his own top priority, Goliath runs to them. Making a quick recount, the gargoyles run out of the burning castle. Alex and Brooklyn each take an arm of Bronx and jump off the ground. Soon, all the gargoyles are in the air and glide home.
"Are you three alright?" Goliath asks them. If they were on the ground, he would go up to them and make sure they didn't have any kind of injuries himself.
"We're fine, Goliath," Lexington smiles to Goliath. He balls up his claws to hide the red sting that hasn't left entirely. Alex and Brooklyn ball up their free claws, hiding their stung claws as well.
Goliath, not seeing their balled up claws, nods.
"What happened to Macbeth?" Brooklyn asks curiously. He doesn't really care of the human but he is just curious of what happened.
"He got away," Goliath angrily says. "He was looking for Demona."
This piece of information makes the gargoyles snap their head towards Goliath.
"Demona! What does he want with her?" Alex asks, anger rising at the name of the traitor. Alex actually believed Demona was good but after their little fight, Alex hates Demona with a deep passion.
"I do not know," Golaith says in a monotone. He would care less of what those two had to do with each other. He doesn't care as long as his clan isn't caught up in it.
"Demona as our queen? Yeah right," Lexington scoffs, remembering the Macbeth was looking for 'their queen'.
Brooklyn growls at the thought of Demona. He also hates her but not as deep as Alex. "That's crazy."
"Everything is going crazy," Alex mumbles, though the rest are able to hear her words. Things sure have been getting crazy.
Close to the castle
The five gargoyles arrive in the city and are only a few wind currents away from the castle. The three young gargoyles can't wait to get home and get a good day of rest. They've been through enough shock for one night.
"Goliath!" The sudden call below them makes them look down to a rooftop of a building. Down below, Hudson, Broadway and Elisa wave for the rest of the gargoyle clan to land. Alex and Brooklyn are tired from carrying Bronx so they go down and land in front of the other three. Soon after them, Lexington lands and rests his arms.
Goliath lands powerfully and a growls rumbles inside of him. He goes up to Hudson, clearly anger about something. "What are you doing here? Why aren't you guarding our home?" Goliath angrily yells to the old gargoyle. Hudson though doesn't let Goliath intimidate him and stands firmly.
Elisa takes the opportunity to speak. "You don't live there anymore," she calmly says.
Goliath turns his attention to her and stands on his full height over her small form. "What?!"
Elisa doesn't move from her place. "I found you a new home," she says in a gentle yet firm voice.
"How dare you? I told you that castle is our home!" Goliath practically yells in her face.
Broadway, angry at Goliath and fearing for Elisa's safety, gets in front of Elisa and pushes her away gently. "No, Goliath! It's suicide to stay there!" he angrily yells back at Goliath. Brooklyn, Lexington and Alex stare in shock at Broadway's bold move against Goliath. None of them would dare go against Goliath. He is too intimidating and, of course, he is the leader and he must be obeyed.
Hudson makes the same bold move. "Lad, they're right, you know?" he says in his voice of age and wisdom. "It's just a place of stone and wood. Home is more than that, Goliath," Hudson says, trying to ease Goliath down and make him see the reality. "Home is the seven of us," at that phrase, all the gargoyles, including Alex, gather around Goliath. "Where we can be together and safe. That's our home."
At these words, Goliath growls in frustration. The words hit him like bullets. He can't it any longer and lets out a loud roar, accepting the abandonment of their castle. The others are startled by the roar and fear Goliath would go on a rampage. Fortunately, Goliath controls his temper and lowers his wings around his shoulders.
"Come, Goliath. Let's be going," Hudson says not as an order but as a suggestion.
"Give me one minute," Goliath says and glides off to the castle.
The clan watches as their leader glides towards the castle. They don't know whether they should stop Goliath or let him have his time.
"Just give him a few minute, guys," Elisa says with a small smile. "He'll come back before you know it."
The gargoyles nod their heads. Deep inside of them, they are all going to miss the castle. It was their home for a long time; a short time for Alex. It's like leaving a part of themselves behind; a part that they've all embraced in their new lives. Leaving it is just too painful for Goliath. It holds more than a new life; it also holds his one from the past. The castle has memories of the entire clan and the love.
The next day
Xanatos walks to stand in the middle of the destruction that Macbeth and the gargoyles cause the night before. He looks up to the ledges and sees no statue in place.
Behind him, Owen walks up to Xanatos. "Welcome home, Mr. Xanatos," he greets first. "I'm sorry to tell you that the Grimorum is gone, as are the gargoyles. However, I think you'll find this interesting," Owen takes a portable case tape and hands it to Xanatos.
Xanatos sees the battle of the gargoyles and Macbeth. The video pays more attention to Macbeth. Macbeth fights handy and seems to have everything under control, even if he is fighting seven gargoyles. "Fascinating."
"And I've also done research on Tech-Life. All of their purpose of being to the smallest detail of them," Owen opens his suitcase and pulls out a neatly stapled stack of papers. Some of the papers have images of ideas and some of their technology.
Xanatos hands back the case tape to Owen and receives the papers. He skims through them and pauses on some of the images and words that seem interesting. "Interesting," Xanatos says as he analysis that Tech-Life has similar ideas using genes as his company does. "It would seem we have two new players in the game," he hands the papers back to Owen. "But we'll worry about that later. I'm home. That's all that matters now."
At night
Within the city of Manhattan, the gargoyles look around their new home, which is located on top of the police station and inside the clock tower. Lexington and Brooklyn stand in front of the rusty, old gears of the clock.
"I bet I can get this thing working again," Lexington says as he inspects the gears.
Brooklyn looks at the gears with an expression that says 'don't-even-try.' "Why would you want to?"
"It's not so bad," Hudson walks up to the two young gargoyles. "There is a place for a television right over there," he says to make things seem brighter.
"Yeah, the gears are good to climb," the three gargoyles look up and see Alex walking around the gears. Brooklyn's and Lexington's mouth fall open. When did she get up there?! "This place can be interesting to explore."
Broadway walks around the place with Bronx beside him. They pass a little place. The place seems to have a stove and some covers. "Hey, I can make a kitchen over here," he says as her turns the handle of the sink. Dust puffs out of the drain. "Or maybe not," he coughs and flaps the air with his claw to get the dust away. Bronx sniffs in some of the dust and starts sneezing.
"Ok, so it's a fix-a-upper. But throw in some rugs, some flowers, clean the mess up, it could be home," she gives a sheepish smile. All the gargoyles look at each other. They shrug and give Elisa a smile to show them their appreciation.
"Yes, as long as we are together, it's home," Goliath turns from the wood ledge inside and faces them all. He gives them a sincere smile. The leader's smile makes the other gargoyles and the human give a real smile of their own. Things may be getting crazy but they can be settled.
