Snapshot Ten: Shyness

Game: Awakening

Outtakes: None, really.

Summary: Silver is shy, so shy, in fact, that it may cause her some issues...

Note: It's been a while, but I'm going to try to update once a week for the next couple weeks until I've run out of things to post (probably a couple more weeks...). I've been writing in other fandoms (Pokémon is addicting, especially now that I've played Omega Ruby and plan to get Alpha Sapphire). You won't find anything of that sort on here yet, though I may post something later tonight in that genre.

Anyway, enjoy!

Silver covered her face in an attempt to hide the blush that colored her cheeks pink. Next to her, Chrom was looking away, also trying to hide his blush. Awkwardness hung in the air between them.

The pair had just declared their love for each other. The feeling was so complete, so compelling, that Chrom had attempted to kiss Silver, only to have the tactician pull back out of the way. The young prince realized what he had almost done, and the awkwardness had begun.

Now he sighed heavily, ran a hand through his shaggy azure hair, and glanced at Silver out of the corner of his eye. "Too soon?" he asked.

Silver shook her head, peering at him through her fingers. "No. It's not that. I haven't kissed anyone before."

"You sound sure of that."

"My reaction was pretty definitive. I guess it's good, because I'm not married to someone I don't remember, but it's also bad – why won't I kiss the man I'm in love with?"

"You're just shy." Gently, Chrom pried her hands away from her face. She looked up at him, her cheeks coloring again as her gaze met his. "Do you love me?" Chrom asked.

"I do. You know I do."

"And you know I love you."

"Yes." Her response was barely a whisper. "I'd marry you now if we could, if we weren't in the middle of a war."

"Then there's nothing to be shy about."

"Of course not. I want to kiss you, but at the same time, my body is refusing."

Chrom brought his face close to hers so that their foreheads were touching. "Then we'll take it one step at a time until you're comfortable."

"Fine." Silver sighed, closing her eyes and enjoying Chrom's closeness. What was she so afraid of, anyway? This was the man she was going to marry! As soon as the vows were exchanged they'd be doing much more than kissing.

Taking a deep breath, she tipped her head slightly and advanced.

The kiss was short, no more than a few seconds. It was enough for Chrom to react with a surprised noise. They pulled away, both faces now red all over.

"You're my first kiss, love," Silver said softly.

"And was it terrible?"

The tactician shook her head. "I think I could go for a second."

Chrom grinned and leaned forward. Their lips met again, and it took Silver a few seconds before she reacted. They parted again. "So much for baby steps," Chrom laughed. Impulsively, he pulled his fiancé into his lap, holding her steady with his arms around her small waist. Silver crossed her arms behind his neck and tipped her head up for her third kiss.

"I love you, Chrom," she sighed against his lips.

"I love you, too, Silv."

Authot's note: Ah, another way Silver is like me, except I have yet to kiss any guy, and the one guy who has offered to kiss me has been denied multiple times because of my shyness... Sad, huh?
