A/N - I received several comments that the end of the show could have been worse. True, they could have killed Chuck or Sarah or both of them or Sarah could have left Chuck. Those endings would have been worse. But my whole premise of this series of stories is that the show should have had a great ending and the memory loss story line with the ambiguous ending was terrible and the ending could have been so much that said, here is a short Part One of how I would have ended the show. This will probably be in three you to everyone who have reviewed, followed and favorited this story. Standard disclaimers apply. I don't own Chuck although if I did, the ending would have been so much better. ;)
Chuck vs. The Goodbye
It was three days before Sarah's due date. She was sitting on the couch in the family room under strict doctor's orders to take it easy. A bowl of popcorn was sitting on her belly as she watched a movie on the big screen TV. Her mother was in the kitchen making dinner and Molly was sitting next to her as they watched Beauty and the Beast for the third time. Sarah was bored out of her mind.
Chuck had gone to the office for a meeting with a potential client that Morgan had brought in. He was due back in about an hour. Sarah heard a knock on the door. "I'll get it." Emma called out as she headed to the door. A distinguished looking gentleman was standing on the doorstep.
"Good afternoon. Is Chuck or Sarah home, preferably both of them?"
"Who may I say is calling?"
"An old friend. Roan Montgomery."
"I've heard of you. Please come in. I'm Sarah's mom, Emma."
Roan kissed the back of her hand and bowed gallantly. "I can see where Sarah gets her good looks from."
"Charming to boot." Emma said. "Please follow me." She took Roan to the family room where Sarah was supposed to be. "Where's Sarah?" Emma asked Molly.
"Bathroom." Molly answered as she turned her attention back to the movie.
Just then Sarah came waddling back into the room. "Roan Montgomery. What a nice surprise. What brings you here?"
Roan kissed the back of Sarah's hand. "It's good to see you Sarah. How are you feeling?"
"Like I'm about to explode. Three more days. I can hardly wait."
Roan chuckled. "Is Chuck home? There's something I would like to discuss with both of you."
"He's at the office and should be home soon. What's this about?"
"It's Diane."
"What about the general?"
"She's been kidnapped."

Two hours later Chuck, Sarah and Roan were sitting at the kitchen table. Emma had taken Molly to the park so they could talk and would return for dinner in an hour. "When was the last time you saw the general?" Chuck asked.
"We had dinner together at her house in DC three nights ago. The last time I saw her was the following morning. She was still asleep in her bed as it was Sunday morning. When I called on Monday to discuss my next assignment she hadn't shown up to the office yet which is totally unlike her. She still hadn't shown up this morning so I caught the first flight to LA and came here." Roan took a sip of his dirty martini.
"We're flattered you came to us Roan, but we haven't talked to Diane in about a month. Why do you want our help?" Sarah asked.
"Diane always said you two, along with Casey, were the best team in the business. I agree. I also think that this is an inside job. We need outsiders to handle this case."
"What makes you think it's an inside job?" Chuck asked.
Roan reached into his suit coat pocket and retrieved a flash drive. Chuck plugged it into his laptop and opened the drive. It contained a video of the general sitting bound to a chair. A voice said "We have your general. Do what we say or she dies. If you try to rescue her, she dies. Remember, we see everything and we know everything."
Sarah looked at Chuck and nodded. "It's an inside job alright. The only way they could know and see everything is if there was someone on the inside."
"Have they made any demands yet?" Chuck asked.
"None, but I think they are going to demand something related to a high level meeting taking place tomorrow night at the Grand Ambassador."
"I bet they moved the general out here to be close to what is happening." Chuck said.
"I agree," said Sarah. "We'll need Casey. Have you talked to him Chuck?"
"Yes. He's helping train some of Verbansky's recruits. He'll be here for dinner."
"I hope my mom made extra."

The original band sat around the kitchen table with Roan to discuss what to do. Casey looked at the old CIA agent with a smirk. "Do the Bartowskis have enough gin for you Roan?"
Montgomery chuckled. "I didn't take any chances agent Frankenstein. I brought my own. Seriously though, what's the plan?"
"Who is going to be at this meeting that's so important?" Sarah asked.
"The Joint Chiefs, the Deputy Director of the CIA, Secretary of Defense and the Vice President."
"Was Diane supposed to be there?" Chuck asked.
"Yes. One of the topics was going to be who to appoint as the new CIA Director. Diane has been acting in a dual capacity since the Shaw incident."
"Is there a power struggle going on that we don't know about? Is there one person that would wan t the job so bad that they would kidnap the general to make sure they are chosen?" Sarah asked.
"Could be. The Deputy Director and Diane haven't been seeing eye-to-eye on several areas of national security. Diane still holds a lot of sway in DC, primarily to the success of Team Bartowski. Even though you got kicked out by Decker and didn't want to rejoin, the President still remembers everything you've done and personally asked me to get you to help."
"The President, President?" Chuck asked with a confused look on his face. He paused for a moment to look at Roan. "You're being totally serious. OK, what do we know about this Deputy Director?"
"His name is Rogers. Frank Rogers. A bureaucratic pencil pusher who couldn't cut it in the field and has been jealous of all field agents ever since. He's especially mean to women field agents. Likes to test the young agents' seduction skills personally. Diane detests him."
"Sounds like he's the scum of the earth. Could be our man. Is he staying at the Grand Ambassador?"
"They all are on the twentieth floor. The meeting will take place in one of their suites."
"Then we'll set up in the floor above with our equipment. We did a security overhaul for them a few months ago and they owe us big time, their words not mine. I'll call and set it up." Chuck said.
We'll need to put a tracker on Rogers and tap his phone. Any ideas?"
"We need someone he doesn't know. That leaves out everyone in this room. What about Carina or Zondra?"
"Last I heard Zondra was staging a coup in some Southeast Asia country and Carina was in the South of France on some drug bust." Roan said.
Casey muttered. "Ummm, yeah, well…"
"What is it Casey?" Sarah asked.
"Well…., I sort of ran into Carina and Zondra when I was helping Gertrude with a mission. She went north and I went south, to the South of France. They were both there."
"What aren't you telling us John?" Sarah asked.
Just then Sarah's phone beeped with an incoming text. It was from Zondra. She opened it. 'Back in town for a few days with Carina. Can we stop by? BTW, ran into an old friend.' Sarah clicked on the attached picture. It was a picture of Casey tied up to the headboard in his four-leaf clover boxers. Carina and Zondra were in their underwear lying on each side of him with an amused look on their faces. Sarah burst out laughing and showed Chuck the picture. "Do you only own four leaf clover boxers Casey?"
Casey grunted and tried to snatch the phone away from Sarah. He failed. "Good news. Carina and Zondra are both in town. I'll call them to come over." Sarah said.
