JACE P.O.V
He didn't get to finish much to his despair, as at that exact moment the door had banged open breaking them apart instantly and in the doorway stood Izzy.
"So who missed me" she said in an overly confident voice a giant grin plastered on her stunning face.
"Isabelle, when are you going to learn to knock" Jace said through gritted teeth, sometimes his sister had the worst timing.
"Didn't realise I had to when you already knew I was coming at this time, plus isn't this like a public space. Should have gone to the bedroom if it was that serious" Izzy said in a matter of fact tone.
Looking over Jace could see that Clary was bright red, he couldn't help but think how adorable she was in that moment.
"So did you miss me or not?" Jace noticed that Izzy's tone was slightly apprehensive as well as deflated from the previous excitement shown.
Jace could see that Clary had finally regained her composure, then remembering Izzy's question they both answered at the same time "Yes" "No".
Jace's answer was rewarded with a glare from Izzy and a shake of the head from Clary.
Jace watched as Clary jumped up from the couch and walked over to Izzy and embraced her in a friendly hug.
"It is really good to see you Izzy, thank you for coming" Jace could see that Clary wasn't forcing the smile on her face, she looked generally happy that Izzy was here. Clary then enveloped Izzy in a giant hug, leaving Izzy slightly shocked at her willingness.
Izzy finally gave into the hug "it is really good to see you, how you doing anyway?" amusement and concern intertwined played on her face.
Jace watched as Clary finally stepped away from the embrace, with a giant grin on her face she replied "I am good, so happy that you and Jace are here" then began pulling Izzy up to the room where she would be staying.
Jace relaxed back into the sofa savouring the moment where his Clary was happy for at least a few hours, however he felt slightly jealous that he would now have to share her with his over excited and possessive sister.
While the girls were still upstairs gossiping obviously, Luke and Jocelyn returned from their visit from the hospital carrying a few grocery bags.
"Do you need a hand?" Since he was staying for a while he thought it best that he make himself as useful as possible as he didn't want to outstay his welcome.
"Actually there are still a couple of bags left in the truck, if you could grab them that would be amazing and we can start on dinner" Jocelyn answered him in a thankful tone holding the trucks keys out to him.
Making his way out to the truck he couldn't believe how quiet it was, the faint noise of birds in the trees and the odd car. It was nice, like a moment of peace from the imminent chaos that would soon ensue upon everything.
After locking the truck he stepped away from the truck only to be met with a strange looking boy/man who was very lanky with glasses which he had to push up nose. He just about ran into Jace as he was paying no attention to what was right in front of him. How could anyone not see him Jace thought, reverting back in an instant to his old charming self. Something that tended to happen when he met new people especially his own age and of the male species.
Rat boy still hadn't noticed him and before he could cause a head on collision Jace had swiftly shifted out of his path, thanking his cat like reflexes.
"Oi Rat boy watch where you're going" Jace said in an arrogant tone.
With that Rat Boy stopped instantly and pushed his glasses up his noise yet again, a scowl covering his face.
"Excuse me, my name is not rat boy for your information, and you were in my way" He said with a scoff.
"Are you kidding me imbecile, you were too busy watching your big ass feet to actually look where you were going" Jace said with a glare, the volume of his voice was beginning to rise as he got madder by the second.
"Wow that's a big word for a Blonde" His tone now matching Jace's.
"BLONDE, my hair is not….." Jace's rant was suddenly cut off by a small sweet voice.
"Simon, I am so glad that you have been able to finally met Jace" Turning to the sound of the voice Jace was met with a very amused Clary.
Obviously embarrassed, Simon was able to stutter out "Uhhhh…hi…hi.. ahh... Clary", Simon's facial expression turned from annoyed to sheepish.
Jace watched as Clary descended the buildings steps and embraced Simon in a huge hug, jealousy raged through him the moment Simon hugged her back. After she had given Simon a quick peck on the cheek, in which Simon blushed, she made her way over to Jace and wrapping her arms around his torso.
Strangely the anger and annoyance he had felt dissipated immediately, and a sense of wholeness enveloped him as soon as her small body was close to his. Looking down he meet her gaze and gave her a brilliant smile, which he reserved only for her.
The silent conversation was then rudely interrupted by rat boy. "Sorry Jace, I didn't get to formally introduce myself, I'm Simon Lewis, Clary's best friend. I believe we spoke on the phone?" Simon offered his hand to Jace.
Jace felt his blood slightly boil at the mention of best friend, but then remembered that Clary was hanging on to him and not Simon. She would expect him to behave, and that is how Jace felt himself reluctantly extend his hand and firmly grasping Simon's, making sure however that he had the upper hand, suttle yet effective in portraying his feelings.
As if I hadn't been awkward enough, the silence was again disturbed by Izzy announcing herself.
"What is taking you guys so long, Clary we have a date with our n…." Izzy quickly stopped her ranting and stopped on the front steps taking in the scene around her. Looking at her face Jace could see the annoyance changing from confusion, and lastly he watched as her eyes landed on rat boy. To Jace's amazement, she blushed?. What was this world coming too, obviously Clary only had the best taste in the opposite sex, since she had chosen Jace.
Watching Izzy again he could see her lost for words, something he had never seen the whole time he had known her. Clary seeming to realise that something was up with Izzy once again alleviated the tension. "Izzy this is my best friend Simon, Simon this is Izzy" looking between them once again I noticed this time that Simon was speechless as well as bright red. He was looking at what seemed in awe at Izzy. Unbelievable.
CLARY P.O.V
When Clary had walked out to see what was taking Jace so long, you could almost cut the tension with a knife. Both guys looked like they were about to get into a fist fight, though no matter how much she loved Simon and believed in his ability, when it came to physical things like fighting there was no way he would win.
Running damage control Clary was able to get both guys to reassess their current situation, hugging Jace seemed to help and she could feel him relax slightly at her touch. She had also noticed the look of jealousy that had claimed his beautiful face when she had given Simon a peck on the cheek, but it had changed as soon as she moved over to him. There was nothing for him to be jealous about.
In an effort to get both guys on better terms, she had totally forgot about Izzy. That was until she busted out onto the front steps and announced her presence in a normal Izzy fashion, that was until her eyes landed on Simon and we were meet with silence. Clary then noticed the blush on her cheeks and turning to Simon she could see the same blush. Wow, never thought I would ever see Izzy lost for words of Simon as red as a tomato.
Looking at Jace she was meet with yet another reaction, not one of horror but one of disbelief, though Clary was sure he would soon get over whatever his current feelings towards the situation were.
Jace of course had to interrupt the whole exchange by again providing one of his arrogant remarks "Ok as much as I would like to stand out here with this exciting exchange of emotions and pleasantries, but I'm sure that these groceries won't make it up the stairs by themselves". This remark snapped Izzy and Simon out of their reverie.
"Umm right, Clary, about what our nails you promised I could do them for you like now, bye Simon", With this Clary watched Izzy sweep her long black hair over her shoulder and give Simon a coy smile before disappearing inside. Amazing, what had just happened Clary thought, Izzy just had a complete personality change from confident to coy.
Simon seemed to blink back to reality and gave Clary a shy smile, before finding his feet and entering the house as well. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Jace also make a move to go upstairs without the groceries.
Reaching out she grabbed his arm "Hey, I'm very proud of you for not hurting Simon, he just can be very protective of me, just give him a chance" She offered a smile and watched his features soften and leaned in and gave her a lingering kiss.
"For you, anything" She watched as he grabbed the groceries and took her hand and lead her back into the house, he didn't hear her sigh in relief or the smile that grew at the thought that Jace and Simon had finally meet and not completely killed each other.
Until next time lovelies. Please review, favourite, follow motivates me heaps. Twig021 xoxoxoxo
