Chapter 10- Breaking Point
When I was younger, Sara was the center of my whole world. But lately, my world was growing larger, and frankly it scared the shit outta me. First the kittens and now Lacy, I sometimes felt everything I'd ever known was changing and there wasn't a thing I could do about it.
I was in the kitchen of the house, grabbing a few more supplies to take back to the hideout since we were running low, dad wasn't supposed to be home until late tonight so I was quietly singing to myself as I worked. It was Sara's birthday and I wanted to make something special for supper.
"His little whispers, love me, love me.
That's all I ask for, love me, love me.
He battered his tiny fists to feel something, wondered what it's like to touch and feel something.
Monster, how should I feel? Creatures lie here, looking through the
window.
That night he caged her.
Bruised and broke her, he struggled closer, then he stole her.
Violet wrists and then her ankles, silent pain.
Then he slowly saw their nightmares were his dream.
Monster, how should I feel? Creatures lie here, looking through the
window.
I will hear their voices, I'm a glass child, I am Hannah's regret.
Monster, how should I feel?
Tear the shades down, murder ears with pillow lace.
There's bathtubs filled with glow flies, filled with kerosene,
Their words tattooed in his brain."
"What the hell's wrong with you?" A terrifyingly familiar voice said from the doorway.
I froze and slowly turned to look at him, fear coursing through me.
"Dad, what are you here for?" I asked, trying to hide my terror.
"My shitty boss fired me," he growled, stalking into the kitchen. I backed away, keeping my eyes locked on him.
"Why? You were good at your job, weren't you?" I said, trying to calm him. I could see the burning anger in his face.
"Yeah, I was, and I told him so. I didn't like taking orders from an idiot like him, so I told him it was time for a new boss." He snarled, punching the wall and making me flinch.
It became a sort of dance, him moving towards me, and me backing away. This continued for a few minutes until I felt my back hit the wall. He kept advancing, an insane look in his eyes. I pressed against the wall, looking for an escape, or something to protect myself with. I was shaking violently.
"Not so brave now, are you?" he sneered at me, raising a fist.
My head snapped back into the wall as his fist connected with my cheek, and my hands raised instinctively in an attempt to protect myself. He glared at me in hatred, and grabbed my arm, jerking it down. His other hand came up a second time to hit me on the other side. I whimpered before I could stop myself. He smiled, looking sickly satisfied and my heart froze in terror.
Lacy was making her way through the forest, on her way to the hideout. In her hands was a small, brightly wrapped gift. A scream rang through the air and Lacy stopped. She recognized that voice. When a second scream sounded the gift fell through her hands and she ran towards the sound thoughtlessly. She came to an old house and ran up the stairs. Stopping in the doorway she froze in horror. Winter was curled up on the ground, an older man above her, trying to impale her with an old fireplace poker. Blood speckled her clothes and large spots covered the floor beneath her showed his partial success. Winter desperately twisted again and caught sight of Lacy. Her eyes widened in horror.
Noticing her distraction the man turned around and caught sight of her. His eyes widened.
"Lacy, run!" Winter screamed when he stepped towards her.
Lacy turned and ran, but stumbled on the last step. That was all it took for the man to catch up. He swung the poker viciously and with a sickening crunch it connected with the back of her head. Her head whipped to the side and she collapsed off the steps, falling to the ground where blood spilled around her head. She was still.
Winter screamed, sorrow causing tears to streak down her cheeks. She knew, Lacy was dead. Her father had killed one of her precious people yet again. She collapsed, sobbing.
Her father grabbed her hair roughly and dragged her out into the yard. He'd dropped the poker and now had a long piece of glass in his hands. Snarling, he plunged it deep into her arm. She screamed as he dragged it down.
"You damn piece of trash! Look what you did. You killed her, this is your fault." Her father screamed at her as he forced her to look at her friend's broken body.
He stabbed the knife down over and over before turning to her other arm. He began carving monster into it roughly.
"You're nothing but a monster, just like your mother. Don't you ever think different, things like you deserve to be alone and hunted down like animals." He spat, raising the knife to plunge it into her stomach.
A hand caught his wrist and yanked him off. He was lifted up by the arm and briefly saw a pair of red and green eyes before he was thrown several yards back. He landed on his back and lay gasping. Struggling to sit up he saw several figures in dark black and red cloaks surrounding both girls on the ground.
"Lacy, un?" one figure was kneeling down next to the blonde haired girl on the ground, he took the girl's pulse. Light blue eyes turned and glared at the man in hate.
"You sick f*****, you killed her!" he hissed, climbing to his feet. Pulling out a weapon that looked like a knife he approached him.
"Who the hell are you people? Were you shacking up with that monster?" he snapped. He started to get to his feet, "You little slut." he shouted.
A person was suddenly in front of him, a huge scythe held at his throat. "Leader, can I kill him, please?" the male asked, sounding eager.
"An albino, you're all freaks." he hissed in anger.
A man with orange hair and purple eyes appeared in front of him, causing the human male to jump in surprise.
"For once I'm with Hidan on this one, un. He doesn't deserve to live." The first male spoke up, now next to the white and orange haired males.
"What the hell? Get away from me, freaks." He said, trying to sound brave.
"If he calls us a freak one more time, I'm going to kill him myself, let Hidan get rid of that piece of shit Pein." A female who was cradling Winter spoke up, sounding angry.
"Girls too? You sick messed up piece of shit. I hope you burn in hell!" He spat, glaring at the unconscious girl hatefully.
Agony ripped through his thigh and he glanced down to see a knife like weapon buried in to the hilt. He looked up slowly to see the orange haired male glaring with so much hatred he felt his heart stutter. Unexplainable terror coursed through him.
(Different view)
"Kill him, but make him suffer. For what he did to Lacy and Winter, and just because he pisses me off." Pein said, turning away and walking back towards Konan.
Hidan grinned gleefully, "you got it Leader." He said, smirking as he swung the scythe.
The man screamed as he was literally cut into pieces bit by bit. When he was finally dead Deidara turned to Hidan curiously.
"Why didn't you sacrifice him, un?" He said. Hidan scoffed.
"Jashin-sama would be most un pleased with a sacrifice like that. Besides that would have been to f****** easy for the mother f*****." He replied, swinging the scythe over his shoulder.
Deidara agreed and nodded. Both men headed towards the girl who'd found them and been their protector.
"How is she,un?" Deidara asked in concern, looking at her in worry.
"She's lost a lot of blood," Konan said quietly, worry coloring her tone.
Zestu slid partially out of the ground in front of Pein, and spoke, "Sara is hysterical. Itachi and Kisame are trying to calm her, but she's terrified. Also, there are several humans approaching in vehicles very quickly, we need to leave before they get here."
Pein nodded and addressed the members who had come with him. "We need to leave," he said and turned to Zetsu, "tell the others to meet us outside the hideout."
Zetsu nodded and disappeared. The rest of the group entered the forest and quickly took to the trees. When they reached the hideout Itachi, Kisame, Sasori, and Tobi were waiting. Kisame was holding a sobbing Sara securely but gently.
"Sissy!" She screamed, struggling to get free.
"Stop squirming gaki, I'm gonna drop you." Kisame said, exasperated. He'd given up on calming the child, and was just trying to keep a grip on her.
"Lemme go! Sissy!" the child screamed, increasing her struggle.
Sara suddenly went limp. Alarmed, Kisame checked her vitals, thankfully they were still strong, she'd just fallen asleep.
"What a mess, it wasn't supposed to happen like this." A low melodious voice said from behind the group.
The ninja's whipped around, weapons raised defensively. A female with long blonde hair and gold eyes was standing in front of them. Cradled in her arms was Lacy's body. She was looking down at the body sadly.
"When I was given permission to send you here as a chance to redeem yourselves, I never imagined it would turn out like this. You were supposed to help a lonely girl, not an abused one." she said softly.
The ninja's eyes widened in surprise, she was the one who'd sent them here?
"How is that possible? Who are you?" Pein questioned.
She met his eyes, "My name is Kiyana, I am the goddess of new life and rebirth." she responded.
"Impossible," Pein said in shock.
"I assure you Nagato, it is quite possible." the female responded, and then as if he needed more proof she added on, "I am going to send you back, along with the child and her little sister. You will protect them, and when you return, you will find some things have changed, Konan, Nagato." she finished.
A feeling like their stomachs were being ripped out and a bright flash later the organization opened their eyes. They were in a desert area, and a quick glance around showed several things. The golden eyed female was still with them, but had collapsed to her knees. Konan and an unknown red haired male were staring in absolute shock at Pein who was currently hacking his lungs out.
Kiyana stood, making her way over to Winter unsteadily. Sasori glanced up at her in suspicion until Winter began writhing on the ground. Blood began pouring from her eyes, nose and ears.
"Winter!" he shouted in alarm, bending over her. A wave of pure heat knocked him back several feet.
"Axiel, you son of a bitch!" Kiyana screamed, power flowing out in a flood. Her body began to glow as she faced a male who was descending with an unpleasant smile.
"Now Kiyana, you screwed my plans, I'm just returning the favor." He said, smirking.
"Who the hell is that?" Hidan asked, looking at the being with distaste.
"Axiel, god of chaos, and all things unpleasant." Kiyana spat in hatred. "Why would you do this to her? She won't survive, you know that! They always reject their containers." She questioned him.
"I'd almost broke her spirit, her soul was nearly mine. Then you had to interfere, so I had to take drastic measures, I think the last 24 hours will be enough to break her though, don't you agree?" He responded.
"She's strong enough to make it through anything you can throw at her. She's a stronger person than you." Kiyana hissed.
He raised an eyebrow. "Wanna make a bet?" He asked, "I'll bet you her soul that she breaks in less than 24 hours of the transformation, and at the longest, 1 year." He said cockily.
"Deal, and when she succeeds, you will never cause her harm again." Kiyana said.
"Fine, I'll be back to claim the soul as soon as she's dead." He said before disappearing.
"What's wrong with her, what did he do?" Konan asked, having gotten distracted from her shock of seeing Yahiko alive when she saw Winter writhing on the ground.
"He forced her to become a jinchuuriki." She said softly, kneeling down by the teenager.
