UPDATE

Hello, faithful readers! This is Su, one half of Sunisha, the writer of this fic, and I am writing on behalf of both of us to give you a quick but important update about this story.

When we originally started this piece, we had intended for it to be an account of the events that led to the formation of the Care Bear Family. However, we got carried away fleshing out the protagonists' childhoods, and that story has taken on a life of its own. After the last several months of writing, outlining, and soul searching, we realized that Art's and Vera's time in the Peaceful Valley was going to take over the whole book, and that it would be at least twenty chapters before they ever left home and started on their journey to found the Care Bear Family. Rather than pen an epic and try to cram it into one piece, we have decided to break up the story. Therefore, this book will no longer be about the formation of the Care Bear Family - instead, it will be a coming-of-age story about the two founders. We apologize sincerely to those who have been eagerly awaiting a Care Bear Family genesis story. We still very much intend to write that story, and now that we have a clearer idea of how it feels to write a book, we think that we will get it right the next time we try. But the piece you are reading right now is not where all of that is going to happen.

That being said, we have also decided to change the name of this piece. "And the Star Spoke" is a great title, but it no longer fits the coming-of-age story that this book has turned out to be. We intend to reserve that name for the next book we write, where True Heart and Noble Heart really will go on to found the Care Bear Family. In the meantime, the current piece you are reading is now going to be called "In the Stars and the Sky."

We realize that the changes we are making will likely be confusing to the handful of readers who have been keeping tabs on this story. We apologize for the confusion, and we hope to enact these changes as smoothly and clearly as possible. Thank you very much for your patience, and we very much appreciate the support we have received thus far from this community. To two very new writers who have never written a book-length fic before, your understanding and your feedback are so important. Thank you for sticking with it as we continue to write it and learn along the way, and thank you for being such a fun, respectful, and engaging audience.

Until next time,

Su (one half of Sunisha)
