Chapter 10: Time for War part 3
*In the death room...
Everyone stared at Medusa wondering if she was done with her telepathic call with her sister. She opened her eyes and stood up off the ground. She smiled triumphantly as she stretched her body out of the pose she had been sitting in.
Stein arched a brow. "Was it really a good idea to tell your sister that we were coming, or have you on our side?"
"There goes our element of surprise..." Spirit commented.
Medusa smirked at the two. "All part of the plan, Gentlemen. Now that she expects me to be with you guys, I can easily use the mind fuck I just put in her head to plan our assault. Arachne will probably try to plan around this but I still have plenty of tricks of my own."
They looked at her and somewhat saw how that made since.
Medusa smiled evilly. "Plus I just had to mess with her." she said with a wicked grin.
"What a troll..." is probably what everyone else was thinking.
As of this moment, the people inside of the death room were Death, Stein, Medusa, Spirit, Marie, and Azusa. They had earlier explained to the younger ones how they planned on using brew (which was given to them by Medusa) to power the cannon once BJ was done building it.
Medusa walked back over to Stein but turned herself towards Death. "Well..." she began. "If we're ready then we need to get started right away. My sister will be expecting us so we should act before she has a chance to prepare for us."
Marie gave her an odd look. "But we wouldn't need to rush if you didn't tell her we were coming."
"For the last time: It's all part of the plan!" the witch exclaimed.
"Regardless..." Death began. "Medusa is right. If we are ready then we need to attack immediately." He then brought up an image of a map of the jungle around Baba Yaga castle on his mirror.
He pointed one of his large fingers to what was basically the midst of the jungle and where all the fighting was going on. "Okay, so this is basically where Sid and everyone else are fighting the army of golems. We also know that Black Star and Tsubaki are still out there somewhere."
He then looked at everyone. "So however we begin this 'second assault' we have to plan around how we get in without being destroyed by the opposing forces. Boy, would that be embarrassing."
"Can't you just call Sid and ask him to be ready for us?" Spirit asked.
Azusa turned her head to Spirit. "I tried to contact Sid, but he didn't have time to talk. Apparently, he and Naigus are in the middle of fighting one of Arachnophobia's generals."
"Darn it..." Spirit responded looking down.
Medusa stepped forward. "Have you guys forgotten that you have me?" they all looked at her as she continued. "This is my big sister's castle, I know every trap, path, and terrain that jungle is made out of. As long as they have me out there, I can lead them to the castle completely bypassing any obstacles."
The Death scythes narrowed they're eyes a little. Spirit spoke what he and most likely the other two were thinking. "I'm not sure if we trust you enough yet to let you-" but he was cut off by Lord Death.g that might hurt a me
"No Medusa's right..." he said firmly.
The Death scythes looked at him oddly. This time Azusa spoke. "Sir, with all to respect. Wouldn't it be safer to let her give us directions from afar?"
Death put his hand up. "No, no. I want Medusa on the front lines for this one. It would be better that way so she can actually see the layout of the jungle. Besides, her combat skills could come in handy if any problems WERE encountered."
Medusa fake blushed and smiled. "Why thank you, sir." she said in such a way that showed that she was taking that as a little bit of praise.
"Besides..." Death began again. "I was already going to put her in charge of the team we send as it's captain."
Everyone including Medusa looked at Death with confused looks. "Okay, even I have to agree that you're putting a lot of trust in me, sir." Medusa said still confused.
Death put up his hands before anyone could say anything. The whole time, Stein was taking all this quite casually. Death spoke. "I'm putting her in charge for more than one reason. Normally I would put Stein in charge but like I said, Medusa will come in handy with all this. But there is another reason." Everyone gave him an odd look except Stein, who already had a good idea what he was going to say.
Death cleared his throat. "Think about it this way..." he began. "Think about it as a major trust test." he looked at Medusa. "If she tries anything suspicious or does anything that might hurt a member of the DWMA..." His voice became deep and frightening. "Then she will suffer for it..."
Medusa felt a shiver down her spine by the tone in his voice.
"But..." he began with a much happier tone. "If the operation goes as planned and she doesn't try anything AND follows through with us, then that's more of a reason to believe that she wants to change her ways."
He looked at Medusa again. "Does that sound fair, Medusa?"
She tried to act calm again. "Um, yes sir. I assure you that I will do everything I can to help you defeat my sister and the Kishin." she responded trying to sound respectful.
"Excellent." he looked at Marie. "Marie, a while ago, Maka and the others went to go fill my son in on what's been going on. Could you please go fetch them so that we may explain to them what will be happening?"
Marie nodded. "right away, sir." and she was off.
As Death and the others watched her walk away, he thought to himself. "Even in the beginning, this is going to be one hell of a trip."
*A little less than an hour later...
Maka, Soul, Kid, Liz, Patty, Crona, and Ragnarok were gathered outside in front of the academy's gate. They had been informed about the plan and were told that they're squad would be led by Medusa and Stein. At first, the young DWMA meisters were a little concerned that Medusa was going to be leading them. but not only did the fact that Stein was going to be with them make them feel safer but they felt like they should at least give Medusa a chance, especially since Crona was asking that they would go easy on her.
Right now, they were just standing outside waiting for Medusa and Stein to walk out so that hey may leave. They all stood silently not very sure what to say. It was quite an odd situation because they had already prepared themselves for this war, only this time Stein AND Medusa would be with them. They were also aware that of they're team, Black Star was still out on the fields fighting. But knowing him, he was probably fine working solo for right now.
Everyone's heads shot up when they heard the sound of the double doors creaking open, and sure enough, out walked Stein and Medusa. Marie was with them as well, most likely she was there to be Stein's weapon.
The students and their weapons stood with intense stares knowing that they were about to head into the middle of a war and attempt what would previously thought to have been impossible. It figures that since Medusa was the one who reawakened Asura she would also have a way to destroy him.
Medusa looked at them and grinned. "Are you all ready?" she said noting the serious looks on they're faces.
"We were ready nearly two days ago..." Maka said firmly.
Stein approached them. "Before we leave, I suppose that it's fairly obvious to all of you that this is going to be considerably more difficult then our original plan before Medusa joined us."
They stared it him only slightly nervous from his words.
He continued. "Before, our goal was simply defeat Arachnophobia and destroy the Kishin, but now the game has changed. Now, we have a slightly different plan and a means of fulfilling that goal." he glanced at Medusa who gave him an innocent smile in return. "I'm sure that you are all aware of how dangerous this will be and that once we're in that jungle, there's no going back." he gave them all a serious look. "So...No one wants to back out, do they?"
Maka smiled. "You already asked us something similar not to long ago, Professor. Of course we're ready for this."
"We know what the risks are and are STILL prepared to go down fighting." Kid said bouncing of what Maka said.
"I'm game." Liz said with a faint smile.
"YaYAAAA! LET'S DO IT!" Patty exclaimed.
Soul gave a thumbs up. "Let's do this."
Stein couldn't help but smile a little. These were HIS students after all.
Crona rubbed her knees together. "I-I, I guess I'm ready too." she said nervously. Her eyes widened a little in surprise when she felt a hand come down on her shoulder. She looked up and saw her mother with a genuine smile on her face.
"Crona..." she began. Crona's eyes widened even more when Medusa pulled her into an embrace, earning surprised looks but then faint smiles from the others. Medusa then let go of Crona and looked her in the eyes with her hands on her shoulders. "There's no reason to be scared anymore. Know that you have people who believe in you."
Crona gave a faintly confused look.
Medusa then smirked and petted Crona's head. "Besides, you're my daughter which means you have more then enough power to kick my sister's ass."
Crona blushed at the comment but after hearing silent laughter from her friends, she too could not help but smile. "Thanks, mom..." she said silently.
Marie even smiled seeing how happy it made Crona to finally have her mother on the good side. She looked at Stein still feeling a little jealous about the thing with him and Medusa. But it seems like they're relationship ever since they left Medusa's castle has brought nothing but good. She smiled thinking that perhaps it was for the best.
"Well..." Stein began.
"Let's head out." Medusa said finishing his sentence.
*Elsewhere...
The black clad sorcerer, Noah, was looking down on the battlefield of the DWMA and Arachnophobia and couldn't help but smile. Behind him was the young witch, Angela, and her samurai body guard, Mifune.
"It's such a despicable sight." Noah said causing Mifune to glance at him. He continued. "Not because of the mindless war, but because this will all be in vein in the end."
"What do you mean by that?" Mifune asked.
Noah smirked and looked at the Samurai. "I told you, my friend; behind all this is a much bigger and darker curtain waiting to open and begin a much more chaotic play."
Mifune arched a brow as Noah redirected his attention back to the fighting. "Once this is all over, the real head ache can begin." Noah watched the fighting as very intense thoughts clouded his mind.
He smiled menacingly knowing that the world and everything on it would soon belong to him and a certain other...
EXTRA:
Medusa: Well damn, this took forever.
Maka: I know. And there's still so much that needs to happen.
Noah: You think you've got it bad? I don't start doing anything real important until way, way, way later.
Maka:...Um...Who are you?
Noah: What are you talking about?
Medusa: Noah, you were never in the anime. Hardly anyone knows who you are.
Noah:Oh yeah...Damn that sucks...
AngrySoundwave: Yeah, that does suck...
Did you think I was dead? Well I don't blame you. I'm really sorry that this chapter too like three centuries to come out but I have been so busy. First of all, i recently turned 18, then a few days after was my high school graduation, so I had those two things very close to each other. I'm trying to get a job now and at the same time I'm trying to get my license. And to top it all off; remember how I always say that it takes me a while for me to upload a chapter because of how slow and horrible my computer is? Well now it decided to stop working completely, forever! so I didn't have access to any internet besides my phone (which can't use this site). But one of my graduation gifts was a laptop. But not only did it take a while to get, but it was also a piece of shit that couldn't do anything, so i had to have it fixed (which took a while). But it's perfect now and AngrySoundwave is back and ready to make more chapter ya'll.
Again, I apologize, but try to understand that there was nothing I could do. How do you think i felt? not only letitng you guys down but also that I couldn't work on this when I really wanted to. BUT I'M BACK!
