Chapter 9:
She awoke with a groan of pain, feeling her ribs bruised due to the fact she fell on the stone flooring of the Temple of Time. She looked up, seeing a boy, dressed in a green tunic with a fairy following him. She got up, dusting herself off, looking at the boy, "Are you the boy with the Triforce of Courage?" Adara asked.
"Whose asking?" the fairy asked in a low growl.
"O-Oh, I was just wondering if I could possibly help you in any way. I hold part of the Triforce as well."
"Which part?" the fairy asked in curiosity.
"Purity," she answered.
"There is no such thing!" the fairy yelled, flying in her face, "No lies!"
The boy gasped as his hand glowed of the Triforce, Adara's doing so as well. He nodded at Adara, snapping his fingers to get the fairy's attention, and when the fairy noticed, she gasped as well.
"You were saying?" Adara said in a cocky tone.
"You're lucky you were right, brat," she mumbled, "My name is Navi, and he's Link. We were heading to the desert. Why would you want to be there anyways?"
Adara thought long and hard about her answer. She wanted answers. Answers that would help her figure out why Ganondorf was so evil. Sure, it's obvious that the two witches had something to do with that since they win an award for world's evilest parents. Maybe there was something deeper within the answers to his evil side. Lack of love? Strict parenting? Something along those lines.
Adara said, "I go for my own personal reasons, but overall, what I do may help you in the future.."
Navi was silent for a few moments, then turned to Link, "Works for me. Play the song."
Link pulled out a ocarina, and began to play a song, and a orange beam flew around us as the song echoed. Within moments the temperature changed and we were in the desert on pad with a symbol on it. She looked around in amazement at the desert. So beautiful minus the keese that flew around.
Link began running and in an instant green Leevers pop out of the sand and chase him. He avoids them as he runs to the Temple, and Adara is already feeling a bit scared. Funny. She's scared of those green Leevers more than Ganondorf. She ran fast, leaving a wave of sand behind her, and reaches Link right when he enters the Temple.
She runs up the stairs as pots coming flying right past her, nearly hitting her. She stops, panting at the top of the stairs, Link walking right up to her, patting her on the back. She looks at him, and he points to the left of the room, to a Gerudo woman, looking at a hole in the wall.
They walk up to the woman and she turns around confused, "I haven't see you around, kid.." she said to Link, then look at Adara, "You either. What do you want?" she asked.
"Nothing really," Adara replied.
"You have nothing to do? What good timing!" she praised, "Can you do me a favor kid?" she asked Link then backtracked, "Wait a second. I want to ask you first— you wouldn't happen to be one of Ganondorf's..followers would you?"
"We hate Ganondorf!" Link spoke. The first time Adara heard him spoke.
"Uh huh! You've got guts. I think I like you guys," she said, "First of all, let me introduce myself. I'm Nabooru of the Gerduo. I'm a lone wolf thief. But don't get me wrong! Though we're both thieves. I'm completely different from Ganondorf. With his followers, he stole from women and children, and he's even killed people! Kids like you may not know this, but the Gerudo race consists only of women. Only one man is born every hundred years…Even though our laws say that lone male Gerudo must become King of the Gerudo. I'll never bow to such an evil man! By the way, what's your name kid?"
It hurt Adara to hear these things. Sure, she felt that when she didn't even know him, but now since even though it's hard to admit, she has grown feelings for him, so it's more personal for her. She needed to suck it up and keep this act going until she found something, and go back to Ganondorf, "I'm Adara, and this is Link."
"Link?! What kind of name is that? Well…anyway… I want to ask you a favor.." she asked Link, "Will you go through this tiny hole and get a treasure that's inside? The treasure is the Silver Gauntlets. If you equip them, you can easily push and pull very heavy things! No, no, no, kid! Don't even think about taking this treasure for yourself! The Silver Gauntlets won't fit a little kid like you if you try to equip them! I want you to be a good boy and give them to me! Ganondorf and his minions are using the Spirit Temple as a hideout. These Silver Gauntlets will allow me to sneak deep into the Temple. Once there, I'm going to steal all the treasure inside and mess up their plans! How about it? Will you do it?"
Link nodded, "Yes."
"Thanks kid!" Nabooru said, "You and I, let's give Ganondorf and his followers a big surprise, shall we? If you can successfully get the Silver Gauntlets… I'll do something great for you."
And with that, she moved aside, and Link walked over, and he crawled in the hole. Adara looked around, on the walls, the floor, anywhere. She has nothing else to do since Nabooru was less interested in her since she saw no use in Adara and ignored her. So Adara was left looking around for clues on her own mission. For something that will lead to answers she needed. She eventually began walking past the wall, sliding her hand against it, until something wiggled. She froze, grabbing a stone that Adara pulled out, revealing a button. Adara was hesitant but still pressed it. Part of the stone wall opened up, folding back, and she walked in slowly. Once she was in, the door closed abruptly, making her jump in fright for a moment. She stood in a dimmed hallway, and slowly walked forward until it showed a room of treasure and chests, and she was surprised as the gold and jewels reflected off the walls making the room light up brightly.
She looked around, digging through the treasure until a certain chest showed interest to her. It had 'Kifah' carved into the top of the chest. She opened it and out of no where Adara began to cry. There was a painting of Kifah, and it showed her how much she looked like her mother. The mother she never knew yet knew her so well by just her own personality. She dug in the chest while sobbing softly, finding a ring with a huge ruby on it, most likely a wedding ring. Who the hell would ask for her hand in marriage? She noticed a letter, and read it…it was Ganondorf that asked for her hand in marriage! But she said no? Maybe he was evil even back then? She skimmed through more and found another letter, saying…he didn't love her? What the hell? Is he bipolar back then?
"That doesn't make any sense.." she found more letters. They all said words of love except those first two..She looked over them and noticed something off…Those first two had almost identical handwriting. How? The other letter were written the same from each other, except these two. Unless there was…Wait… Someone else wrote these letters. Someone wanted to make sure they would never marry. But who?
Adara saw a small bag of treasure, and she emptied it. She grabbed a few of the letters including the two which were different from the rest to make sense of this with Ganondorf. She was about to leave, but something caught her eye.. her eyes squinted, and saw Kotake and Koume spying on her from behind the piles of golden treasure. Adara ran with the bag as they threw spells of fire and ice as they cackled. She ran down the hallway, pushing the door open fast, but not fast enough. Koume fire splashed up and burn her arm and ribs on her left side, she screamed out, ran as fast as she could, and saw Link and grabbed him, running with him, "What did you do?" Navi yelled.
"Link! Play something to take us back to the Temple of Time! Hurry!" Adara hissed through the pain.
He played the song as they ran, and within moments they were back at the Temple of Time. Adara panted and fell to her knees, moaning at the intense pain. Link put his hand on her shoulder concerned. Adara got up weakly, "Are you okay?" Link asked.
"I-I'm okay.. Give me ten minutes before you go back to the future. I need some things to deal with.." Adara said through clenched teeth.
"Why?" Navi asked.
"Because when Link goes to sleep in Time, so do I.." she said, "Ten minutes please.."
Link nodded, "I will wait."
And with that Adara ran as fast as she could despite her wound back to the Castle to Ganondorf. She felt the blood dripping down her arm and she felt weaker by the seconds passing. She wasn't going to give up on him. Sure he may be evil, but she had hope for him. She wanted to best for him even if he didn't agree due to his blind mind of darkness and evil.
When she reached the Castle, she walked up to the front entrance and weakly pushed the doors open, moaning as the pain was intensifying. She sighed as the sweat slide down her face. She took a few steps and fell to her knees, breathing heavy, her eyes almost closing, but they opened once she heard a whoosh.
"Well, look who couldn't make it," Kotake said.
"Thanks to my fire spell!" Koume cheered herself.
"Too bad, so sad," Kotake said, "Guess we better finish the job, sister!"
"Yes, we should!"
They gather their magic, but when it started, they were knocked off their brooms by Ganondorf's magic. He walked up from behind them with a pissed off look, "What do you think you're doing?" he hissed, "If I want her dead I'll do it myself!"
Adara smiled softly, and coughed softly until it became harsher, coughing up blood and falling on her side in the process. Ganondorf ran to Adara worried, even though he wouldn't admit it, "And I thought you'd never come.." Adara said with a smirk.
Ganondorf smirked slightly as well, then glared at the witches as they got back on their broom, levitating off the ground, "What did you mean finish the job?"
The witches looked scared, but didn't answer. Adara answered for them, "They came after me when I-I went to the desert at the Temple. I found letters, and threw magic at me as I found them.."
He looked at Adara confused, "What letters?"
"N-No letters! Don't listen to this brat! She's not thinking straight from the pain!" Kotake stuttered.
"The l-letters between you and my mom.." his eyes widen at that sentence, "I n-noticed that the letters between you and her through the thought and question of marriage was d-different in handwriting compared to the rest..t-that's when they came after me.." Adara coughed more blood up as the bag she was holding falls, and the letters slide out, scattered across the floor and Ganondorf glares at the witches as they gulp their fear.
He roared, "You will heal her, I do no care if you die doing it, you will do it! Or I will kill you and use your souls to heal her myself! Any disagreements?"
"N-No!" they stuttered.
"Good," he got up, and they hovered over her and healed her with their magic. He watched them, and saw the wound on her arm heal see her caramel skin rather a bloody burn mark. After they finished they back up, "Now you will tell me who wrote those letters!" The witches stayed quiet for a long time, and he fumed, "You wrote it?!"
They shook in fear, clinging to each other, "We are sorry!" they begged.
"You are lucky I don't kill you!" he yelled, "if you as so much come back because the kid is too much to handle, I won't care! You can die for all I care at that moment!"
"Y-Yes!" Koume said.
"Good thing he didn't ask about those zaps.." Kotake whispered to herself.
"What about those zaps?!" he bellowed.
They shook more, "Nothing! We just..we just put a spell on her so you wouldn't do anything.. sexual with-" Kotake was cut off.
"YOU WHAT?!" He yelled, "Take that off as well! If I want to, then let me. Do not interfere! Hurry up and then leave before I change my mind and kill you!"
"Y-Yes!" and with a few flicks of their wrists the spell was gone. They disappeared after that.
Ganondorf sighed loudly, rubbing his eyes. He looked down at Adara and noticed her hand glowed of the Triforce and was asleep. He reached down, picked her up, and held her close with her head below his chin. For once, he was content and calm, and it only happened when he held Adara in his arms.
