When Seto made it home to the manor, he found a note on the door that read, "Big brother, Rini and I are going to sleep over at a friend's house. If you need me, I have my cellphone on me. Mokuba." He couldn't help but feel disappointed, he had hoped he would have a chance to explain what happened. Knowing he wouldn't be able to focus on any work tonight, he decided to just call it a day and "try" to go to sleep.
Mokuba and Rini decided to visit Ishizu at the museum that night. They barged in in her office unannounced and startled her. "Mokuba, Rini, What are you doing here this late at night?" Ishizu asked.
"We need to know more about that prophecy. Seto and Tea were going to dinner tonight but something's happened, and now Tea is heartbroken. We need to know how to fix this." Rini said quickly.
Ishizu nodded and explained the ancient text, "According to the golden plates contained in this museum, your brother, Priest Seto, and Pharaoh Atem were at one time best friends. Until one day, when a Seto came across a beautiful girl in the desert who was being stoned to death for her unusual appearance. She had white hair, pale skin, and beautiful blue eyes. Seto saved her and they quickly fell in love with each other. Unfortunately, Yami decided that he wanted Kisara for himself, knowing she had a powerful inner spirit. If Seto could claim Kisara's power, Seto could easily usurp Yami from his throne. Yami goes to Seto's father Akhenaden, or as you know him, Gozaburo, for help and this begins a long and tedious battle. Akhenaden had always hated his son and saw Kisara as a threat. If Seto claimed the throne, Akhenaden would likely be punished for his crimes in life. He demanded Seto to kill Kisara hoping to destroy her inner spirit. He tried to tempt, Seto claiming that her death would give him unmeasurable power. But, Seto refused. So Akhenaden tried to kill Seto with a blast of magic. Kisara jumped in front of the magic and saved Seto…but she died and her power was released. Seto gained her power, better known as the Blue eyes white Dragon. He annihilated Akhenaden and Yami, but lost the love of his life. He claimed his throne and promised Kisara that they would meet again."
"So let me get this straight, my sister contains the spirit of a dragon?" Rini asked.
Ishizu shook her head and replied, "Not anymore, the spirit of the dragon was sealed in these stone tablets and are replicated in dueling cards. Tea's simply contains the undying love of Kisara for her Priest Seto. The only beacon of the Dragons memory left in her are her sparkling blue eyes. Neither have memory of their past, so their love for each other are purely their own, but with ancient roots. However, history has a tendency to repeat itself."
"But wait, Gozaburo is dead! How can history repeat?!" Mokuba asked nervously.
"History has a TENDANCY to repeat itself. It does not always. In any case, fate can always alter the ending." She explained.
While Mokuba and Rini crashed in Ishizu's office, neither Tea nor Kaiba could sleep that night. A
As the alarm clock procedurally went off, Kaiba slammed his fist on it. He was exhausted. The only thing getting him out of bed was the hope that Tea would come back. He got dressed to go to the office and drove towards Tea's apartment.
Mai sat with Tea and said, "It is 45 minutes until he arrives, are you still going to work for him?"
Tea got up and replied, "Financially, I don't have much of a choice, unless I want to juggle 3 jobs again."
The SUV pulled up to the apartment complex and instead of honking the horn. Kaiba got out of the car and knocked on the door. Much to his relief Tea answered the door wearing her work clothes. She didn't say a word to him but continued to walk to the car. He ran in front of her slightly and opened the door. She rolled her eyes and sat in the car, slamming the car door. Seeing she was obviously still furious, he let out a sigh and began to drive. Trying to break the uncomfortable silence, he asked, "Did you come up with a routine for the opening of the ball? I am really looking forward to whatever you create."
In a wearisome voice Tea replied, "Mr. Kaiba, I am working on a routine for the ball. However, I must inform you that from this point on I refuse to mix business with pleasure. Anything, we might have been, you can forget. Now if you don't mind, I have a headache and prefer if we could relish the rest of this ride in complete silence."
He flinched when she reverted back to calling him Kaiba. But he couldn't be mad at her, he probably would have assumed the same thing if he was in her shoes. The question now was, how could he win back her trust?
As the day wore on, Kaiba was definitely getting frustrated with Tea. It was not like her to be so "proper" he was dying to hear one of her amusing quips or see her cheeky smile when she was up to no good. Suddenly a knock sounded on the door, and I remembered I had an appointment with the party planner. Tea opened the door and was almost knocked over by an overly enthusiastic skinny man with thinning hair. "Good evening Mr. Kaiba! I am Johnathan Kain." he greeted.
Kaiba raised an eyebrow, unamused by his giddiness. Johnathan threw some sketches on Kaiba's desk and Tea wandered next to Kaiba to get a better look. There were 3 different sketches of layouts for seating his guest at the charity ball. Kaiba pointed out the seating arrangement he thought would be most resourceful and the party planner stood up and grabbed Tea's arms. "Where do you think you are going with my secretary?" Seto asked irritably.
"To choose decorations and color schemes of course?" Mr. Kain replied simply.
"Don't you think I should have some input in that, seeing how it is my home it will be taking place in." Kaiba asked. He honestly could care less, but he missed having Tea so close to him, even if it was only to look over his shoulder.
The designer answered, "Now Mr. Kaiba, we both know that men only know 10 colors and one of them is beer."
Tea started to giggle and looped her arm around the designers arm and said, "I am envisioning LOTS of PINK! After all, it is Kaiba's signature color!" She shot a devious smirk back at Kaiba as she walked out the door. Kaiba put his arms behind his head and leaned back in his chair. He couldn't help the smirk come on his face as he thought, 'That's my Tea!'
As much as she wanted to be true to her word, she decided against it and instead picked out lovely baby blue fabric to wrap in a bow around the white seat covers. The designer showed several pictures of floral arrangements and centerpieces. She almost felt like she was planning a wedding. There were so many tiny details that needed to be sorted out. Ishizu had a video about excavating she wanted to present and we needed to make a schedule of when the best times would be to present the video and have individual speakers.
Mr. Kain suddenly lit up and said, "Oh sweetie, here comes the fun part! Since we know in advance, Kaiba's designer requested I help you pick out a sketch of your gown for the ball."
The planner started showing me several of the designer's sketches. They were all lovely, but one in particular took my breath away. The gown was white at the top but gradually merged into a light bluish color as it reached the bottom. It had a light blue wrap and this design had some interesting looking shoes drawn at the side. Instantly I fell in love and answered, "This is the one."
The planner smirked and replied, "That is the one the designer and I were hoping you would pick. Well Ms. Tea, I must be going. The designer and I will return in a two weeks to check the gowns fitting."
Tea nodded and then walked back towards Se…Mr. Kaiba's office. She had her own thing she had to get his opinion on. She laid a list in front of him while he was on the phone. He started to glance over it for a minute and signaled for her to give him a minute while he finished up his conversation. "Thank you Sir, have it delivered by…"he covered the phone and asked, "When is the Dinner scheduled?"
"December 23rd," Tea answered.
He finished the phone call quickly and asked, "What is this?"
"This is a playlist of songs that will be played at the Ball. I need you to pick out one for the opening dance." She replied with disinterest.
He glanced over the list and one song seemed to stick out more than the others. "Christina Perri - A Thousand Years (A/N I don't own this song!)" He answered.
Tea raised an eyebrow and said, "A love song, why did you choose that? Regardless, choosing this song does make things easier considering it is a waltz."
Kaiba didn't really know why he picked that song, but a while back he heard it on the radio and it seemed to describe everything he felt about Tea. He didn't want to embarrass himself so he just answered, "Uh… A thousand years just sounds…museumy."
Tea could tell he was lying through his teeth and with an amused smile replied, "Ok, one museumy waltz coming up."
Before she could leave, Kaiba gently grabbed her hand to get her attention. She turned around and noticed he looked nervous about something. Timidly he requested, "Tea, I have been meaning to ask you this for weeks, but with all the preparations for the holidays next month and the ball I never got around to it. I was wondering if you would like to join Mokuba and me for thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night. I know you are really mad at me right now, and probably want nothing to do with me. But it would mean the world to me if you accepted."
She bit her lip, not knowing what to do. It would be nice to attend an actual thanksgiving instead of eating frozen turkey TV dinners like she had done for the last 2 years. But she was still furious with him. She let out a sigh and simply answered, "I'll think about it."
After she left, He picked up the phone and when Mokuba answered Seto simply stated, "Mokuba, I need your help."
