My best intentions loving you
Post 4x14. I gave you a ring and I promised you things I always thought we'd do but my best laid plans slip right trough my hands to show my love for you. After Finn finds out Rachel is pregnant, he's determined to make it right and be with the love of his life again, only he knows it won't be easy.
A/N: Hi all! Thank you so much for the reviews on the last chapter, sorry I didn't update sooner but I was kind of stuck on one part of the chapter. Anyways please enjoy and happy almost Christmas to all!

Chapter 10:
New York. Finn wondered too many times over what his life would have been like if he had not put Rachel on that train. He turned around to check on the kid's excitement. The new kids specially were in so shock of he grand city. Sam, Tina, Artie and Blaine had a nostalgic look on their face. "Hey man." Sam nudge his shoulder. "So are you excited you get to see Rachel finally?" Sam nugded his arm. Yes, he was so excited. He was getting to celebrate his birthday too, Kurt had said he had a big party planned for his 19th birthday. Finn sighed. That meant the baby would be born before he turned 20 and that terrified him. He was going to be a teenage dad. Even though he had grown up so much in he last year since loosing Rachel and finding out he wanted to be a teacher, he was still worried about how it would all work out.
"Okay kids,Listen." Mr. Shue called their attention. "After we land we are going to go directly to the hotel to check in and then we're heading to Rachel's apartment for a special celebration." He placed a hand on Finn's shoulder.
After checking the kids in, Finn messaged Rachel and Kurt to let them know they were on heir way, thankfully the hotel wasn't that far from the apartment so they decided to walk there. Finn wanted the kids to the real New York experience.
"I can't believe we're here! Unique gushed to Marley. "In the city of dreams!"
"I want all of you to have a good time because you deserve it." Shue told the kids. Ryder and Marley glanced at each other making jake roll his eyes.
"Yay! You're here!" Kurt wrapped Finn in a giant hug as they all took their turns entering.
"Hey little brother." Finn almost lifted Kurt to his feet. "Thanks for doing this."
"Are you kidding?" Kurt pulled away. "When have I wasted the opportunity of party planning? Let alone, throwing it at my own house?" Finn chuckled. His face instantly moved up when he heard a door. Only to reveal Santana.
"Heads up to the little kids. Specially Finn." She said. "If you break something, you pay it."
"Hello to you too Santana." Mr. Shue said with a hug. "I promise they will all behave."
"Speak for yourself!" Marley joked. "This is a real New York apartment. I think I'm going to pass out."
"Girl, please don't. You'll miss on all the fun." Unique said taking her hand.
Kurt had quickly glanced over at Blaine. He gave him a sweet smile.
"Where's Rachel?" Sam asked Kurt.
"Don't you dare drool Frankenteen." Santana said. Finn rolled his eyes. "She'll be right out." Just as on cue. Rachel's door opened. Her smile wide as she glanced over at her friends. Her eyes locking with Finn's.
"So good to see you all." Rachel walked over to them. "Thanks for coming."
"Well what are you waiting for?" Artie whispered to Finn. "Sweep her off her feet or something." Finn just gave her a goofy smile.
"Hi." She said softly. Suddenly the room had gone silent.
"Hey." He said reaching for her hand and kissing her softly on the lips. The audience around them had suddenly dispersed, after a few sighs from the girls which made Finn blush."I've missed you."
"Me too." He said wrapping her into a hug. Her small baby bump feeling more present now.
"Are you sure they don't mind you staying here?" Rachel asked as she noticed the kids minding their own business as Kurt and Blaine lured them away.
"I do mind if someone would bother to ask me." Santana said behind Finn.
"That's why we don't" Finn said. Santana rolled her eyes.
"No, Shue says it's fine, although I need to get to the hotel early because I'm the only other responsible adult." Rachel could listen to Santana buff.
"Lets go to my room so you can leave your bags, okay?" He nodded following her. Santana shot them a glance and made an I'm watching you sign. Unique and Marley looked dreamily at both of them, and will looked worriedly at Kurt who assured him Santana would act upon if something happened.
Once Rachel closed the door behind Finn, he leaned to kiss her. "Hey."
"Happy birthday ." She wrapped her arms around his neck. "How was your flight?"
Finn led her to the bed to sit down once they broke the kiss. He placed a hand on her belly. "It was fine but I really missed you and my little dude." Rachel's hand covered his. "We missed you too. You know, we could probably find out what we're having before you go" Finn's eyes widened. "If you want."
"Yeah." He said quickly. "Do you want to?" She nodded. "It will be the perfect celebration gift." He was about to kiss her again when...
"I swear if you two don't come out now, I'll have to break in and it won't be pretty!" Santana called. "There's kids out here!" Finn and Rachel chucked.
"Come on, before she means it." Rachel took his hand and pulled him to the door.
Finn was so happy to be here with Rachel since the last one had not really worked out for them. They sat on the couch watching as Kurt and Blaine took control of the party, actually enjoying themselves too since things had not being easy on them either. Santana had confided in Rachel in spite of all that Kurt and Blaine also seemed willing to work on their relationship.
Guess Mr. Shue's almost wedding had worked miracles. "I do hope you and Rachel sing soon." Artie told Finn, Rachel looked at him confused. "Oh come on, I'm sure it will be pretty educational for he little kids if you did."
"Who are you calling little?" Kitty came behind him. "It would be really chessy though."
"Aww come on. You've got to sing. That'd be like the best pep talk ever." Marley who had overheard said.
"Who's singing?"
"No one." Finn insisted. "I wouldn't even know what to sing."
"I'm sure you guys could come up with something." Artie said. "Please?" Finn turned to Rachel who just shrugged.
"I guess we could.." Rachel bit her lip. It had been so long since she had actually sang with him she was a bit uneasy. Mr. Shue thought it might be a good idea as well so he practically told Finn it would be considered as a lesson on legendary duets.
"Just like old times," Santana muttered to Rachel. "I'm surprised you didn't end up pregnant from a song since you two seem to reek of sex every time you sing." Rachel blushed as she took center stage in the living room, Finn took her hand.
Finn:
We were sittin' up there on your momma's roof

With the smell of honeysuckle and your perfume
All I could think about was my next move

Maybe that's why it was so hard to believe
When you smiled and said to me
"Are you gonna kiss me or not?
Finn and Rachel:

Finn:
It was the best dang kiss that I ever had
Except for that long one after that
And I knew if I wanted this thing to last
Sooner or later I'd have to ask for your hand
So I took a chance
Bought a wedding band and I got down on one knee
And you smiled and said to me
"Are you gonna kiss me or not?
Finn and Rachel:
Are we gonna do this or what?
I think you know I love you a lot
I think we've got a real good shot
Are you gonna kiss me or not?"
Finn and Rachel:
So, we planned it all out for the middle of June
From the wedding cake to the honeymoon
And your momma cried
When you walked down the aisle
Rachel and Finn:
When the preacher man said, "Say I do"
I did and you did too, then I lifted that veil
And saw your pretty smile and I said
"Are you gonna kiss me or not?
Rachel and Finn:
Are we gonna do this or what?
Look at all the love that we got

Finn
Yeah baby, I love you a lot
I really think we've got a shot
Rachel:
Are you gonna kiss me or not?
"Well won't you kiss her already?" Blaine said as the music got quiet. They all laughed when Finn leaned in to kiss her. The boys cheered. And the girls clapped.
All the time during the performance Mr. Shue would look at his kids, Finn glanced over at Rachel adoringly as she took over the song as always, taking him along for the ride.
"Dude, I didn't know you two had a bit of county in you!" Sam cheered once it was over.
"Well I would say that was absolutely an amazing Finchel duet." Artie said clapping. "See kids? That's how it's done."
After all the cheering had died down, Kurt came out of the kitchen with Santana in tow. A big Chocolate cake had been laid out for Finn.
"Happy birthday Finn, I think I speak on everyone's behalf about us being really happy to be sharing this with you, specially in the eve of nationals." Mr. Shue winked at him.
"Thanks guys, all of you. This year has been a hard one for me." He looked down at Rachel. "But it was all because to you. That I found my way,every single one of you have taught me something and I have no words to say how much you all mean to me." He raised his glass facing Kurt And Marley.
Once the party was over, Finn said his goodbye to the kids and promised Shue he'd be at the hotel first thing in the morning.
"All and all I think it was a success." Kurt said collapsing on the couch with Finn and Rachel. "I think I'll be going to bed." Santana's door opened to reveal her all dressed up. "Where are you going?"
"Well since I was stuck babysitting, Dani is taking me out." Santana said spinning. "How do I look?"
"Great," Kurt smirked. "What do I suddenly feel like a third wheel?"
"I told you, you should have told Blaine to stay over." Santana said. "I'd be impossible to sleep with these two here anyway ." She pointed to the other two on the couch. "Don't wait up."
"I've already told you. Blaine has to remain focused for Saturday and I..."
"You're such a girl Hummel," Santana bantered. "Make sure you use earplugs, it's Frankenteen's birthday after all." And with that she left.
"So.." Kurt began. "As I see it, I'll have a lot of cleaning to do tomorrow, I better go." He gave them both a warm smile. "Happy birthday Finn, it's so good to see you. I'll be sure to stop by tomorrow in rehearsals to offer moral support."
"Good night Kurt." Rachel said as she sank closer to Finn's chest.
"Alone at last." Finn whispered into her neck.
"Did you have a good time?" She asked looking up at him.
"Sure. It was a great birthday. Puck is sorry he missed it, he'll be here Saturday, same as Mercedes." Finn said proudly.
"Good." Rachel closed her eyes as his hand brushed her stomach. "You have to know we are all really excited for you." Finn gulped. Yes, all of this expectations of himself. Silence. "So I never did thank you." Rachel said a moment later.
"For what?" He asked curiously.
"For getting my dads to come to reason." Finn was about to protest. "I know you talked to them Finn."
He sighed. "I did. But they would come to it eventually, they just couldn't... Well. They shouldn't have done whatever they did. You're their child, there's nothing more important than that."
So here he was, at the Berry's door ready to make a point. It was every boyfriends nightmare to have to deal with two dads, let alone that he was no longer her boyfriend per se, more like the dude that knocked her up.
"Finn?" Leroy Berry opened the door. "What are you doing here?"
"I know what you're going to say, I screwed up and you hate me, but please Rachel doesn't deserve to lose her parents.."
"Leroy?" Hiram's voice said behind his husband. "Finn."
"As I was saying, Rachel didn't mean for this to happen, neither did I but it did and we just want to be responsible."
"Are you done?" Hiram asked. Finn froze nodding. Then he heard both of her parents. Not everybody understood things the way Carole or Burt did. And as Finn watched the pain in both men's eyes. He understood what it meant to be a parent. It wasn't about not loving your child, it was loving them even more when they made a mistake. And it might have taken Rachel's parents a while to get to acceptance, only because both of them had such high expectations of want her life would be like, but life wasn't about the final destination, It's all twists and turns to get there.
Rachel wanted to cry. He was right and he had spoken like a true teacher. He felt her shiver in his arms. "Rach?"
"I'm sorry." She cleans had face with her palm. "How is it that you always know what to say?"
Finn chuckled slightly. " I don't always, or you wouldn't have broken up with me." Rachel pulled away so she was staring directly at him. "What?"
"Nothing." She said seriously.
"Rachel..."
"Can we just go to bed please?" She said leaving the couch, Finn didn't have time to reach for her.
"We won't go until you talk to me." He told her following closely behind.
"I don't want to." This sounded like most of their fights began. Finn sighed. Rachel stopped at the kitchen's table. Her hands on the edges.
"Babe." Finn said behind her. "Please just tell me what's wrong?"
"I don't Want to ruin your birthday" tears threatened to make a show again.
"I don't care." Spinning her around he lifted her chin. "Now will you tell me?"
"I.." Rachel's eyes drifted down. " I never meant for us to break up. I always wanted you to come home so we would start over, but I was mad. I was so mad that you chose to walk away after what happened in Georgia. But I always wanted you to come back." She can't continue because her breathing becomes shallow. He pulled her closer.
"I'm sorry I was too much a coward. I was so ashamed of myself, so disappointed I had just made the decision without caring for how you might feel, I just didn't think I was worthy of you, not after what I did." His conversation with the baby played in her head.
"You have always been worthy of me Finn, it's I who doesn't deserve you. Not after I left the morning after the wedding without so much of an explanation."
Finn's eyes softened. "We did what we could with what we had, you had guilt and so did you, we've both made mistakes, and yet they seem to always pull us together somehow." He traces a finger along the side of her stomach. "Lets go to bed."
"Okay." Honestly she's too exhausted to argue or go further. He offers her his hand. They undressed slowly and changed clothes quietly. Both alone with their thoughts. Finn turned around in time to catch a glimpse of her now more formed belly. "Come here." He called as she frowned. Her guard was down as Finn sat on the bed. He then pulled her down, laying her down gently against the mattress.
"Finn..." Her voice caught on her throat as he knelt in front of her, kissing his way up her body, stoping tenderly at her belly. He unbuttoned the rest of the shirt to completely expose her to him.
"You have the cutest baby bump." He kissed the exact spot where the tiny baby was making her close her eyes at his touch. " and I bet our kid will be the cutest. Your eyes, and my nose."
"Yes please." She muttered.
"I love your nose though,." He said kissing her again.
"It doesn't matter, I want her to have yours."
"Her?" Finn raised an eyebrow looking at her, Rachel lips prompted her body up. "We don't know yet."
"Still, I am calling our baby little dude." She laughed. "No matter how cute it sounds when you say it." Finn smirked down as he moved to hover above her, kissing her lips.
"So maybe I could persuade you.."
"I'd like to see you try.." She said gigging as he gave her a mischievous smile.
"Challenge accepted."
Oaky so here it is! I just needed to add some angst and Finchel fluff because lord knows I need it! Anyways what did you think? I think it is pretty real to have them talk about all the mistakes that they made so they continue to heal and grow, although the talk is far from over, were better focus on nationals.
How will show up to support rehearsals? And will the kids be ready to perform.. Plus we finally meet Rachel's mystery person.
I realize the song might be a little off character but it's one of my favorites ever by Thompson Square.
