New chapters back to back, what?! I must have free time lol
As the weeks passed Tyler quickly found it easier and easier to move around again. Heather told him he was lucky that there was no permanent damage where he had been stabbed so he should recover quite nicely. As much as it was boring having helicopter Raph watching to make sure he stayed on the couch or in bed he definitely didn't mind the company. Mia had been more than happy to sit with her new 'big brother' as she was calling him, with her books, toys and games to pass the time.
Finally after three very long weeks Tyler was finally allowed to get up and walk around the lair with Raph's permission. Even though Tyler knew he was being watched like a hawk he was still grateful for the freedom. The turtle was the first to volunteer to help the kid with his rehabilitation for his arm to make sure he had full mobility of it.
More often than not though Raph allowed the kid his space to get used to his new living arrangements and the people in it. Heather was pretty sure Tyler went into shock when he went into the bathroom to see Leatherhead sitting on the toilet reading a paper after the croc forgot to lock the door.
It was on one particular day when Tyler had just finished a checkup with Heather that he noticed how quiet the lair was. Curious he and Heather explored the home until they found the Hamato brothers and Leatherhead sitting in the kitchen looking over the information they had gathered up until now.
"So how's it coming?" the teen asked walking into the room with the doctor.
"Not bad actually thanks to you. Being dead we have the upper hand since we can take them by surprise. You're the only person not in the gang that knows where their hideout is," Leonardo explained making a few minor details to the plan.
"Well if that's the case then I'm coming with you," Tyler said suddenly making the room go into an awkward silence as three of the brothers watched the stare down between the young man and Raphael.
"The suspense is terrible…damn I love staring contests their so intense," Michelangelo whispered to Don after several moments of silence and watching the two making the other turtle roll his eyes.
"The hell you are," Raph growled.
The red masked turtle was not about to let the kid risk his health again for the sake of taking this guy down. Raph had become just as protective of him as he was of Mia and now his overprotective side was coming out full force.
"How are you supposed to fight when you still have stiches in ya huh?" Raph asked trying to get the kid to see reason without actually scolding him.
"I can help you though, more than anyone. First of all the only way I can lead you there is to take you there myself and second what could possibly be more surprising than me alive and kicking their ass," the boy stated his case confidently.
"He's got a point Raph. If we train him from now till we attack he would probably be able to hold his ground pretty good," Leo suggested trying to make everybody happy.
The red masked turtle growled before he turned to Heather and said, "Doc you wanna help me out here please."
Heather looked back at Raphael hesitantly before she replied, "Well…we actually just took out his stitches and he's pretty much in the clear…sorry?"
Everybody sat in silence watching as the red masked turtle rubbed his eyes and sighed in agitation before he replied, "Fine! But if anyone is gonna train him it'll be me got it."
He then turned to Tyler and added, "Do not for one minute though think that I will go easy on you. If you do come with us you come as back up and stay out of sight understand?" he told the boy who nodded his head instantly.
"I understand completely," he said unconvincingly.
"Why do I feel like I'm going to regret this," Raph sighed before he led Tyler to the dojo to go find a decent weapon for him.
"Play nice children," Mikey said sarcastically earning him an evil glare as the pair left.
…
They two entered the training room and Raph couldn't help but smirk at Tyler's face when he saw all the blades on the wall and started drooling. He continued to observe as the teenager walked around the room until he came across an interesting weapon that made him smile evilly.
"Oh Lord what did you find?" the red turtle asked watching the young man's back and just barely dogged a thin wire that aimed for his head and scratched his cheek.
"My new toy," Tyler replied still smiling as he started whipping the silent and deadly weapon that was no thicker than a strand of hair.
"Nice! I hate to admit but you're kind a natural with those things," Raph said whipping the blood off his cheek from one of Tyler's wires nicking his cheek.
"I guess we let the fun begin," the teen replied going after Raph with everything he had learned from the training camp.
As the pair began training neither of them noticed Mikey and Mia slip into the dojo to watch, slowly followed by the others. Sitting in Michelangelo's lap, the little girl watched in fascination as her uncle and Tyler showed off their fighting skills. Mikey noticed and couldn't help chuckling at how much his niece was enjoying this.
"You're time is coming soon Miss Mia," the orange masked turtle said wrapping his arms around the baby in his lap.
The turtle's words seemed to put a big smile on the little girl's face as she continued to watch in amazement. She was slightly distracted however when she heard something behind her and turned to see Heather covering her mouth and running out of the dojo with Leatherhead right behind her.
"She ok?" Leo asked Donny.
"She's been feeling kind of off lately," he replied.
Deciding to leave the couple alone for a while they all returned to watching the sparing match.
…
Training had gone on for almost a month and as much as Tyler turned out to be a promising ninja so did the red masked turtle as a sensei. The time had come however for the newest member of the clan to take his final test.
Raphael cautiously walked into his student's room to get him so they could train, the kid had really fell in love with his weapon since he had gotten and tried to incorporate it into his life anyway he could. Upon first glance it would like no more than any ordinary teenage boy's room but if not careful one could lose a limb from all the wires surrounding the small area. The deadly wires could only be seen by the slight glimmer of light that hit off them.
When the turtle got into the middle of the room he noticed there was an eerie silence and he didn't like it. He especially didn't like when he turned around to find his student hanging upside down from his wires like Spiderman.
"HOLY SHIT KID…you just gave me a heart attack," Raph said holding a hand over his heart.
Tyler just laughed as he flipped over so that he was right side up again before he walked out of his room followed by his unamused sensei. Raph walked into the dojo to see Tyler practicing his balance by walking across the room on his wires then jumping up only to land on them once more with ease and not even stumbling at all. He had set up the wires there himself weeks ago so that he could practice his stealth.
"Alright Spiderboy, now listen up today is your final test. Usually you would fight your sensei but I've decided that you'll fight someone who is an even better fighter then me," he explained.
"So am I fighting Michelangelo or Mia?" Tyler asked drily and had a hard time keeping a straight face looking at Raph's agitated one.
Master Splinter came in just in time to hear the young man's comment and only shook his head before walking over to Raphael and putting his hand on his shoulder.
"I'll take it from here my son," he said sending the red banded turtle out of the room before turning his attention on Tyler.
"You have chosen a very rare weapon. I must say suits you well," Master Splinter said noticing his weapons.
"Some of even the most skilled ninjas cannot master this weapon. It is meant for the truly invisible ninja and the ultimate master of surprises. A specialty of yours it seems," he continued.
The old rat grabbed a candle out of nowhere as Raphael turned out the lights with only the candles flame illuminating the room.
"Now what?" Tyler asked a little confused.
"Now we begin," Splinter said before blowing out the candle.
Raph left the room when Splinter started talking to Tyler. Mia was already standing outside the door with Mikey ready to watch but the turtle shook his head at them.
"Sorry we gotta wait till he's done, too dangerous with the lights out. We can go in when sensei gives the signal," Raph explained but it didn't stop Mia from pouting.
'Please let him do well' Raph thought as he took Mia from Mikey.
Meanwhile in the dojo, the room became silent the moment it became dark. Master Splinter became completely focused, he couldn't sense Tyler's movement but could hear the wires crossing around the room and quickly dodged them all. He became shocked when he felt a wire whip against his cheek and blood slowly start to slide down his face. He searched everywhere for the source but it always seemed just out of his reach.
'He must be moving very quickly to be able to dodge me like this' he thought.
Suddenly the wires surrounded his body trapping him against more wires. He struggled with all his might but stopped when he realised they were slightly digging into his skin.
"Raphael turn on the lights I accept defeat," he called to his son.
The sensei couldn't help but laugh when looked into the mirror and realized he was tied to a spider web. The other turtles could only look on in shock at the sight before them. Master Splinter eyes went wide when he noticed something.
Before the fight he had Raphael put ink on the bottom of Tyler's shoes so afterwards he could visually show him where he went wrong and where he did well. However upon looking around the room he discovered that the only reason he couldn't find the young man was because he never checked the very spot where their battle began, in other words Tyler never moved.
"I must say I am very impressed. Never in my life have I fought a ninja so silent, so deceiving and creative with what he has to work with. Tyler you are ready," Splinter said making his decision.
He truly was thoroughly impressed with the young man. Not since he had begun training Leonardo with his katanas had he witnessed such a natural relation between warrior and weapon.
"You really think I'm that good," he said shyly never really thinking anything of what he did. As far as he was concerned it just seemed like good idea at the time.
Master Splinter just smiled as Raph came towards them in disbelief and answered on behalf of everyone in the room.
"Are you kidding me? You just beat Master Splinter on your first try. You should be really proud of yourself kid," he said putting Tyler in a head lock as Mickey walked over in fake tears.
"What the hell is the matter with you?"Raph asked taking Mai from him.
"Oh nothing, nothing it's just that...our little boy is growing up," Mickey said tearfully biting his knuckles to stop himself from 'crying.'
Both Donny and Leo came up behind their little brother and smacked the back of his head playfully at the same time.
"Alright you guys pizza is on me," Raph announced but before he could lead everyone out of the dojo he quickly stopped by Master Splinter clearing his throat.
"Tyler before you go if it is not too much trouble...please untie me," sensei asked from his webbed bindings.
All done for now don't forget to review the lady!
