At six thirty the next morning Jennifer Jareau heard the upstairs toilet flush, the sound dragging her into consciousness. She listened for a second or two before hearing her son's footsteps on the stairs. She sighed and pulled the covers over her head. She knew what was coming. She felt the weight of henry on the end of her bed. Silently she counted to three, as she did she felt the weight of her son flop down on top of her. He put his head where he assumed her head was, and talking to her he whispered "do you wanna build a snowman?" it was one of his favourite ways to wake his mother in the morning, and it had been since he had seen the movie Frozen a little while ago.
JJ pulled the covers down and looked at him. "Shh, you don't want to wake anyone. Go out to the living room and I'll put a movie on." She said. He nodded and ran out of the room. As he went he bumped the door frame with his hand, the resulting sound was only light but it was enough to wake almost all of the rest of the room. As everyone started to stir and wake up JJ walked into the kitchen and set the coffee maker, setting out enough cups for everyone. She walked into the living room and put some cartoons on for the boys. As she wandered into the kitchen she saw a sleepy eyed Reid putting sugar into one of the cups. JJ smiled and walked up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist. She leaned into him and muttered a tired, "good morning."
He turned in her embrace and smiled down at her. He leaned in and kissed her, once, twice, three times. He might have continued if not for the beautiful sound of the coffee machine beeping that it was ready. The rest of the team wandered into the kitchen just then looking for the bitter yet beautiful liquid.
"I know you guys are cute and stuff, but it's too early for this." Morgan groaned reaching around the couple for the cups and coffee pot.
The couple broke apart and began to prepare coffee for the rest of the team. There was very little chatter as the adults drank the essential liquid. By the time the second round of cups had been drained most of the team began to feel human again. JJ was just thinking about breakfast when Jack and Henry walked in. "Dad, im kinda hungry." Jack said walking over to give his dad a good morning hug.
"How about I start to get breakfast ready then?" JJ said smiling at the boys.
"Yes please mummy." Henry answered with a grin on his face. "Can we have Pancakes?"
"I said last night that we could have pancakes. But some of us need to clear out so there's actually room to work." She said in reply, addressing the last part at the assembled adults.
"I call shower first!" Garcia said bouncing out of the room before anyone could revoke her claim.
"There's another in my bathroom if anyone is interested." JJ said gathering the makings for a breakfast of Bacon, Eggs, Toast, and Pancakes.
"I call it." Emily said leaving to gather her things.
"Hey Jayje, do you want a hand with breakfast? There are a few of us here." Hotch offered as the rest of the adults cleared the room, Reid with his third cup of coffee in hand.
"Thanks that would be great. You can do the bacon if you want?" JJ replied with a smile. It was always nice cooking when you had someone in the kitchen with you. They worked in silence for a little, the only sounds from the kitchen being the whisk mixing the pancake mix and the bacon sizzling on the stove.
"So, I know it's really none of my business, but, have I noticed something between you and Emily?" JJ said, trying not to seem too intrusive.
"I don't know. I mean, she is a wonderful woman, beautiful, intelligent, strong, and confident. But, she wouldn't have any feelings for me. I'm her boss, and I was a bit of an ass towards her when she first joined the team. Then when she left for Paris, I didn't contact her even when I knew it was okay and she was in a safe location. I can see why she would be more than willing to kick my ass." He replied sliding some of the bacon onto paper towel.
"So you mean to tell me that if she was to come into this kitchen right now and tell you that she had feelings for you, you wouldn't act on them?"
Looking a little sheepish, Aaron looked over at her "Ahh, well actually, last night while we were organising ice-cream, we may have shared a kiss, she was telling me about when she walked in here and you and Reid were standing close, and I took advantage of the situation and kissed her. What kind of man does that make me?" he said turning to look at her.
"A smart one, but also really stupid. If you think that Emily Prentiss would let anyone take advantage of her then you're a fool." She replied, turning back to her work, letting him stew over her words.
"So, what are you saying?" he finally asked after long minutes of silence.
"What I'm saying is, I waited for Reid, because I knew that he needed the time to come to the realisation of us working out as a couple, you don't need that time Hotch, and Emily, well, we all know she isn't as patient as me." Before he could formulate a response, she turned, stuck her head out of the door and summoned everyone in for breakfast.
The team was more awake and talkative as they ate their breakfast. Hotch constantly reminding Reid that he needed to eat more than he wanted. When breakfast was finished those who had previously showered stayed to do the washing up while everyone else washed away the last of the night. Half an hour later and everyone was assembled in the living room watching cartoons.
"So, what are we going to do today?" asked Rossi, knowing that they had one more scheduled team activity.
"Let's go to the park!" was the response from two excited little boys.
A/N: Hey again guys. So, I know this chapter kind of blows, but I needed a filler chapter, and I tried to make it matter with the little chat between JJ and Hotch. I hope you guys like it.
