Wolffe checked and re-checked his equipment in his head, going through what he knew about the mission.
His men were seated in the shuttle, packs unusually bulky. Plo Koon had ordered extra rations and extensive med kits to be packed. Marisa was no war zone any more, but resources were still rare.
"Allowance for landing received. Prepare for touch down." Ryder`s voice sounded rough through the speakers.
Wolffe felt the shuttle shake. White plastoid armor rubbed against the durasteel of the hull and a rough set down caused shoulder bells to clank against each other.
Machines powered down with a high pitched whine. Wolffe snapped open his restrains.
"Alright, everybody out, we have a few clankers to demolish."
His Wolfpack filed out of the shuttle in an orderly row, forming a double line on the landing platform.
Plo Koon entered the shuttle before Wolf, nodding for the clone to take his place before he addressed the men.
"You have already received your debriefing, but I want to stress the situation.
Not only might Padawan Tano's life depend on our efficiency, but we also have to think of the possibility of the Separatists turning this into a weapon of mass destruction. By efficiency I do not mean violence or undue pressure. We need the cooperation of the citizens, so try to approach with tact."
Which should be difficult, considering that this was the Wolfpack. They had been trained for war, not diplomacy.
"Sinker, you and your men will go to the police station first, collect all names of people who have been suspected of having contacts to the separatists."
"Yes Sir. Should we look for people with connections to the research?"
Plo Koon gave him a short nod. Smart men, good men.
"That would be a good idea Sinker, but remember to stay alert for all people with the necessary medical knowledge for creating the virus."
Wolffe cut in. "Manipulating the cure to such an extent needs a very specific education. We will find them."
"I hope so. Commander, we will go to Marisa registration. They will have logs concerning starts, landings and cargo. Now, let us move. There is not much time."
"Sir yes Sir!" The men were quick, but at the same time calm, and secure of their actions. In troubled times like this Plo Koon enjoyed touching their calming auras and letting their mindsets sooth his troubled thoughts.
The Marisa spaceport was a collection of temporary containers, all a uniform grey. The registration was just in the middle, pockmarked by the small stones the continuous winds through against the sides, like all others.
Wolffe strode in first, every inch of his height intimidating, although he had clipped his deece to his side.
"Where are the space port logs?" He demanded to know.
"Pardon?" The secretary, who manned the front desk was short and petite, even standing up she would barely reach Wolf's chest, sitting down she looked up, trying to find the face of the men who towered above her, behind his visor.
Wolffe let out a sigh and removed his helmet, trying to find a neutral expression that would not scare the civilian.
"We require access to the logs of the space port. We are looking for a very specific set of cargo that has been transported to Marisa."
Seeing a human face seemed to calm the young woman somewhat. She stood up, scanning over several folders.
"What are you looking for exactly Sir?"
Plo Koon, sensing Wolffe's desire to get going, stepped forward. "We are looking for medical research equipment, or people with the necessary knowledge for extensive manipulations. We would require access to all logs. How soon will this be possible?"
The secretary turned around, staring at the Jedi. "Access to all… You would need to go to city hall for this Sir. The rest of the logs will be there also. These are the latest, due to the shortages during the war we have cataloged most data concerning the space port on flimsi and not electronically."
"Thank you. We will go there first and return with the necessary clearance."
A.N.:
So, at first a great apology for the long wait and the short chapter, I am kinda drowning in real life right now.
The next chapter will come more quickly, big promise. Great thanks to everyone who reviewed, every review does make me write faster, although it may not seem like it. (Next chapter will also be longer.)
