Disclaimer: I don't own Bloodlines.
A/N: The chapter that you have all been waiting for ;) I wrote all this earlier on today outside, because it was lovely and warm (and that is rare in Ireland), and I got struck with sudden inspiration. Although I am sick -.- which totally ruins the day...
I woke up later on, struggling to remember where I was. At first I thought that I was back in my apartment, the one that Sydney had managed to get me, but no such luck. The memories of earlier on came flooding back, and I groaned from disappointment.
I got out of the bed slowly, waiting for the wave of dizziness to wash over me. It never came. Still a little cautious, I walked slowly through the room, and I pushed the door open, stepping out into the light of the sitting room.
The occupants of the room stopped talking to look up at me. And to be honest, for once, I mustn't have looked that great. My clothes were crumpled beyond belief, and I had a few drops of blood on the shoulder of my shirt. My hair was naturally messy, and it was not stylish like the carefully crafted one I replicated with hair gel every morning. I probably had bags under my eyes too from lack of sleep - it hadn't mattered at all that I had been in a coma for ages, I still needed sleep.
"Hi," I gave a weak, yet still vaguely charming, smile.
Eddie and Jill smiled back, they were sitting on the couch together, but as far away from each other as they could possibly be. They had been chatting, as far as I could tell, but there was no romantic air to them. I had no idea why I was so disappointed.
Sonya and Mikhail, who had been huddled in the corner, looked at me, startled. Why were they looking at me like that? Had they been talking about me? ...Probably. I remembered Sonya's face when I had mentioned married life, was that what they were talking about? It was then that I noticed Sonya's bare hands. Oh God no... Sonya and Mikhail weren't married.
"Umm... Adrian, can we talk to you in the kitchen please?" Sonya asked, as Mikhail disappeared, presumably, into the kitchen.
"Sure," I nodded, following her. She sat down on a chair, one that was part of the small wooden dining table set. Mikhail was leaning against the sink, looking even more serious than usual. I sat down across from Sonya, and looked at them both nervously. "Is this about my 'married life' comment?" I asked, holding my breath.
Sonya cast her eyes to the ground, but Mikhail nodded. "How did you know that we got secretly married?" He demanded, a little harshly. It must be a touchy subject, as 'harsh' and 'Mikhail' were not usually in the same sentence. I needed a good lie - and fast.
"I... err... thought that you were married because... I had a vision of it when I was in the spirit induced coma." I was actually praying for one of the first times in my life. Please don't make Sonya look at my aura.
Mikhail didn't seem convinced, but also didn't say anything - to which I was very grateful. Sonya, on the other hand, seemed excited. "Could this be another one of spirit's skills? Seeing glimpses of the future?" She clapped her hands together happily.
"I... ah... don't think so," I answered nervously. "I mean, you, Lissa, Nina and I haven't seen the future ever before. It could have been a coincidence."
"You aren't lying are you Adrian?" Mikhail asked, narrowing his eyes at me suspiciously.
"Mikhail!" Sonya exclaimed. "Adrian wouldn't lie to us! ...Besides, if he were I would have seen it in his aura. Sorry Adrian," she grinned sheepishly.
Well...I guess that made sense, because I wasn't really lying. I had seen them get married.
"You'll keep this between you and us, right?" Sonya asked. "It's just... we're not ready to tell people yet..." I nodded.
"Of course, I understand." And I did, I really did.
"Thank-you," Sonya smiled, relieved.
. . .
"Okay, who's up for takeaway?" Sonya asked, as everyone seemed caught up on the news. Turned out that Eddie was staying in Palm Springs, in a flat only walking distance from here, and was under the supervision of Mikhail.
"I know a really good Thai place," I piped up, then realising that I had messed up for the second time that day. "I researched around here before I came." I tried to amend.
"You? Do research?" Eddie looked at me in disbelief.
"Well... Jill did really," I pretended to admit. Jill just nodded, shooting me a little glare. Everyone seemed to just accept that.
"Okay, Thai it is," Sonya agreed. "Who wants to go with Adrian?"
"I will!" Jill volunteered.
. . .
"That isn't a lot of food," Jill pointed out. "Not compared to the images you send me of the last takeaway meal we had at Clarence's."
I only lifted a box with three bags, and it wasn't a lot really compared to what Sydney used to carry. Jill wasn't carrying anything, because, as she told me, her hands didn't do manual labour. I had glared at her for that.
We reached Sonya and Mikhail's house, and Jill opened the door. Inside was a very angry looking Rose Hathaway, and a serious Dimitri Belikov. Oh no...
"Adrian! Jill!" Rose screeched. "What do you think you are doing, running away like that!" Scratch angry, she was furious.
"Umm..." Obviously, because of the compulsion, Rose too had forgotten when I told her that I was leaving. She couldn't have ratted me out. But when nobody was looking, she gave me a quick wink.
"Princess Jillian," Dimitri said. "We must take you back to Court."
"What about Adrian?" Jill asked, probably sensing my panic through the bond. I couldn't leave now, I was so close to finding Sydney.
"You," Rose turned to me. "Are very lucky. If it weren't for the fact that you are Jill's bondmate, you would be charged with kidnapping a Princess." She gave me a hard stare. "But you can stay, or come back with us."
I gave Jill a mournful look, but she just nodded her head. Stay, she mouthed.
"I'll stay," I answered, and then they took Jailbait away.
"Adrian," Eddie began.
"I'm going out to clear my head," I muttered, leaving out the way that I had come.
. . .
Now that Jill was gone, I felt completely, and utterly alone. She was the only one who semi understood what I was going through. I felt a strong wave of spirit darkness wash over me, and I had to sit down on the sidewalk, desperately trying not to cry.
"Are you okay?" I heard somebody ask.
"No," I mumbled, looking up at them, trying to fight the darkness... but what was the point in trying anymore?
And when I looked up, all the darkness washed away, because there she was. My flame in the dark. Sydney Sage.

I thought that it was auburn with red highlights too, but I re-read over the Golden Lily and it said red so... *shrugs* I know, I love Jeddie :( Unfortunately it doesn't fit in with my story... I hope this chapter explained the Mikhail / Sonya weirdness.
