Kimi sat across from Nightmare, playing chess, it had been four days since they had first arrived in hell, and since then she enjoyed coming and spending time with him, the old demon was a very kind person, and loved to play chess.
"it's your move Kimi." he said, looking at the board.
Kimi slowly put a hand on her knight, moving it to a space just in front of her king, nightmare had already taken most of her pieces, all she had was her knight, a bishop, and three pawns, he too had lost most of his pieces, having only his knights and two pawns.
"you've gotten better Kimi." he said with a smile, 'the first day you were here you couldn't even beat me, now you have me on the edge of defeat."
"told you i knew how to play." Kimi said leaning back a little, "i was just rusty."
"well i applaud your skills," he said, moving a pawn forward, putting it in position to take the knight "where did you learn to play."
"My step father taught me." she said, moving one of her last pawns to take his pawn.
"well he must have been good." nightmare muttered, putting his knight in play.
"he was…at least at chess." she said, moving her bishop and taking his knight.
he raised an eyebrow, "what do you mean?" he asked, taking her bishop with a pawn.
"he left my family when i was in eighth trade,just up and left, left me, my sister, and my step-brother."
"Hmm…strange…"
"i know, and then a few months later my brother left too, i have no idea where he went, he told me he'd be back, then just vanished."she moved her knight and said, "Check."
'Sounds like someone took them." he said, tapping his king looking for a way out, ""no one just up and leaves without an explanation." he moved his king back beside a pawn, "if i were you i'd try to find them."
she sighed, "it's not that easy." she said, moving her knight again, "check mate."
he smiled, "very good Ms. Finster." he said, putting the pieces away, "i'm going to go to sleep, i've been up for over a month."
"okay Nightmare, you have a good sleep." Kimi said, walking out of the cell, she loved how she didn't have to lock the doors, they were specifically designed to keep the prisoners in, and allowed the guards to come and go as they pleased. she walked down the halls towards the mess where a small group of guards waited, most of them looked like the traditional demons, horns, tails, and dark skin, but a few looked like ordinary people, with only small things giving them away, such as sharp teeth, or lizard-like tongues and eyes.
"hey Kimi!" Wally said walking over, "how's Nightmare?"
"good, he's really not so bad once you get to know him." Kimi said.
"great, you ready to get out of here?"
'not really, i kinda like talking to Nightmare."
"well you still got three days." Wally said, "you'll have a few more times to talk to him."
Kimi nodded, then jumped as something jumped onto her head and then jumped away, she looked around and saw a small fox watching her, it's red eyes watching her carefully, it's two tails swishing back and forth.
"there's a demon loose!" Kimi started, holding her hands up to freeze it.
"don't!" someone called out, making her stop and look back, two demon guards were running towards her, they looked out of breath, "Kila won't hurt anyone!"
"Yeah, she's just a minor Daemon."
"Daemon?" Kimi questioned.
"yeah, a minor demon who tried to take over an animal, they partially succeeded, but were stuck in the animal, because of this, the animals appearance changed, they make great companions and pets, some even have magical properties that can help you in tough situations!"
"Come here Kila." the other demon guard said softly, holding his hand out.
Kila looked at him, and then jumped over him and landed on Kimi's shoulder, sniffing her necklace.
"she seems to like you." the demon said, "you want to keep her?"
"Uh…not to be offensive, but no, i already have a demon hound in my house, i don't need a fox to add to the mix…" Kimi said, thinking about it, 'maybe i could give her to Tommy."
Wally smiled, "ooh, giving your boyfriend a fox? that practically means you're married." she teased.
Kimi blushed, "s-shut up!" she quickly gave the demon some money and then looked at Kila, who was still on her shoulder, "well, you gotta admit the little things cute."
Wally rolled her eyes, 'are you talking about Kila or your boyfriend?"
Nightmare sat in his cell, his eyes closed, to the untrained eye he looked to be asleep, but in all actuality he was meditating, trying to find a certain soul for his favorite guard, "hmm…i don't think he's dead." he muttered, "but i can feel his soul…" Suddenly Nightmare was thrown back against his wall with a small scream, he landed facedown, shaking slightly, he sat up, 'No…no not him…he can't be trying to come back now…" he stood up and ran to the entrance, the barrier stopping him, "Guard! Guard! you have to get out of here! GUARD!"
"what's wrong with nightmare?" one of the demon guards asked
"eh, he's just old, minds rattled, don't worry about it."
Deastro stood at the edge of an abyss, looking down at a silvery gate, a black mass behind it swirled agitatedly, "this isn't good…" he muttered, pulling his sword out, Wally came in just as he did so.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"looks like Drakon's stirring…" he said, "the gate should hold him, but it's still not good."
"I hate to disagree." a growl sounded behind him, he turned around and managed to jump back before a clawed hand could hit him, behind him stood seven demons, all of them muscular beast types, he let his sword change into a two handed great sword, "Wally…" he started.
"on it." she said, pulling out the sword Gizmo had given her and materializing Lucem, she engaged two minotaurs.
Deastro kicked one of the larger monsters down towards the silvery gate, it hit it and screamed as the spell on the bars basically electrified him, he stabbed another through the chest, "anyone else?"
a lizard demon charged forward, while the last two started to chant something, Deastro didn't pay attention to them, instead he tried his best to not get killed by the lizard.
"Lumos!" Wally shouted, sending a burst of pure energy into one of the minotaurs skull, making it explode.
Deastro grappled with the Lizard man, holding him in a choke hold, he listened to the last two demons, "shit," he growled, "WALLY! THEY'RE TRYING TO DESTROY THE GATE! STOP THEM!"
Wally looked over to the last two demons and threw Lucem, catching one of them in the chest,she kicked the minotaur over the side and ran at the last one just as he finished the spell, "NO!" She shouted swinging her sword and cutting his throat.
Deastro broke the lizard man's neck and ran to the edge, the silvery gate was slowly starting to crack,
"Get behind me Wally!" he shouted as the gate blew apart, he threw his hands up and a mass of dark energy formed a shield around them as the essence of Drakon slammed into them, Deastro trembled under the strain, his shield slowly starting to break apart, when it finally shattered he felt himself fly back into the side of the cavern, Wally screamed as the power hit her.
"Wally!" Deastro shouted, watching as the essence slowly started to pour into her.
several guards ran in, one saw what was happening and threw his hand out, the gate reformed, cutting off the main part of Drakon's power,
Wally fell to the ground, she slowly looked up, a cruel smile spread across her face.
"Drakon…" the head guard whispered, the others held up their weapons.
"in the flesh." wally whispered, suddenly appearing in front of the leader, her hand shooting straight through his chest, the guard screamed in pain, she pulled her hand out and let the guard fall to the ground, the others let loose a war cry and charged at her, she continued to smile as she blew through them easily, "ah, only a small fraction of my power and i'm still stronger then you all!" she looked down at her attire, 'hmm, this form isn't to my taste, but she's powerful, very strong." she pulled off her jacket and threw it to the side, she walked to lucem and tried to pick it up, the blade glowed and disappeared, wally gave a chuckle, "so Lucem remembers me, and decides to hide, typical." she looked back as she heard scraping, Deastro was now on his feet, Tenebrae in his hands.
"get out of her…" he growled, leveling his weapon at Wally's chest.
"aw, you do care, and here she thinks you don't like her anymore." she said with a laugh.
"i won't say it again Drakon, GET OUT OF MY SISTER!" he snarled.
"Hmm…i'm going to go with no." she said, charging him, Deastro jumped over him and sent dark energy at his back, she simply opened up her mouth and inhaled it, "ah, thanks for the snack." she said with a giggle, "you know, if you want me out of this body, you're going to have to either kill your precious sister, or exorcize me, which we both know you can't do."
Deastro looked at tenebrae and threw it behind him, it disappeared in mid air.
"What's this? a declaration of defeat?" drakon asked, walking towards him, "kinda disappointing, i wanted a good fight."
"take me." Deastro said.
"take you? isn't that a taboo? i mean you two are brother and sister."
"I mean use me instead of her." Deastro snarled, "my magic fits your power much better, and Tenebrae will obey you."
"hmm…this is true…" drakon grabbed Deastro by the neck and hauled him up, "but this is the greatest victory i could think of, taking one of the most purest souls i've seen in millennia, and taking it over,you have no idea the things i have planned for this girl, i'm going to make it to where when i take a new body she's going to be broken, mind, body, and soul."
"then she's better off dead…" Deastro growled, tenebrae reappearing in his hand, he slashed at Drakon's arm but she simply jumped back.
"this is more like it!" she laughed, "show me what you can do dark swordsman!"
alarms went off as Kimi ran towards Midnight's cell ,"Midnight are you alright?" she asked, seeing him crumpled on the ground outside of his cage, two guards pointing spears at him.
"i'm…fine…" he wheezed, rubbing burn marks on his arms, "but something terrible has happened…can't you feel it…the immense dark power that he radiates? it's that shiver that you feel going down your back, the one you can't seem to shake, it's that little dining at the back of your mind, warning you of the danger coming, warning that death is close at hand."
the guards looked uncomfortable, one shuttered.
"get him back in his cell…" Kimi said, "treat him gently guy's, i'm going to go warn Lucifer." she turned around and ran out.
"be careful Kimi!" he shouted, " he is not to be trifled with!"
Kimi continued to run, passing Angelica and Suzie," where are you running off to?" Angelica asked.
"something's coming!" she said, "I'm not sure what…"
"you're just being paranoid." Angelica said dismissively, until the ground underneath them basically exploded,
"what the-" Suzie started, jumping away from the explosion, Angelica rolled across the ground, the blast having caught her completely off guard, Kimi instinctively drew her sword.
Deastro dragged himself out of the hole, his gear was torn up and his mask was gone, he had cuts criss crossing all over his body, "run…" he whispered, "Drakon…loose…"
Kimi dragged him out of the hole, "he needs a medic." she said.
"then get him out of here! we'll handle Drakon!" Suzie said.
"a very brave sentiment Susan." someone said, she turned around and found Wally behind her, the sword Gizmo had gotten her in her hand, "but you wouldn't be able to handle me the way you are."
"W-wally?" Suzie asked stunned.
"no, not wally," Deastro struggled out, "its…drakon…"
"he's right." Drakon said, walking around them, "but even though he rationally thinks this, his subconscious just can't make out the difference, he can't kill his baby sister."
Angelica and Suzie looked at each other in worry.
"get out of Wally you asshole!" Kimi shouted.
Drakon looked at the young ice mage, "i'd rather not, i'm quite comfortable."
"Kimi get Deastro out of here!" Angelica said again, "We'll hold off Drakon.
Kimi hesitated and then picked up Deastro, he groaned in pain, "Stay alive guy's." she said, walking out with Deastro.
Angelica held her hands out, letting fire ignite on them , Suzie walked around Drakon until she and Angelica were on either side of her.
"So, the music mage and the heavenly flame." Drakon said, "who's going to strike first? i would say Suzie, but without her special hoops, she's lost her major damage dealing weapon."
"don't underestimate me." she said.
Drakon smiled and started to run forward, as soon as her foot hit the ground a sonic boom sent her flying back, when she landed she looked up, seeing Suzie smirking, "don't forget i amplify sounds, i can increase the sound all the way until it's a sonic boom, every step you take is a potential land mine."
"nice to know." Drakon said, standing up and running at her again. this time flames flew at her, forcing her to jump over it, she let out a breath, which instantly turned into another sonic boom.
"how come you weren't this good fighting deastro?" Angelica asked.
"smaller space, couldn't risk killing Sean and Trevor."
"i would've…" Angelica muttered, forming a fire ball in her hand.
Kimi got Deastro to the medical wing of hell, where two demons got to work helping him.
"Kimi!" Lucifer shouted walking in, "what's going on?"
"Drakon…fighting…Wally's possessed…" Kimi whispered out of breath.
Lucifer looked at her in shock, "What did you just say?"
"Drakon's escaped…" Kimi said after taking a deep breath, "took over Wally, almost killed deastro…he…she…it's fighting Angelica and Suzie right now."
"contact them and tell them to disengage!" Lucifer said urgently, "Drakon is not to be engaged by any of your mages! i'll handle him."
"a tremor shook the room, making Lucifer groan, "don't tell me!" he shouted as alarms went off.
"WARNING, PRISON BREAK, ALL GUARDS TO D-WING, WARNING PRISON BREAK, ALL GUARDS TO D-WING."
Suzie jumped to the side, sweat beading down her forehead, Drakon was slowly starting to figure out how to counter them. she snapped, sending a sonic boom at Drakon, who in turn dodged it, her foot falls so quiet that Suzie couldn't manipulate them, the only thing that had kept her alive was Angelica, who kept the pressure up on Drakon with fire.
"you're starting to piss me off!" Drakon snarled, jumping at Angelica.
Suzie saw her chance and clapped, sending Drakon straight into the wall.
Angelica walked towards her, fire at the ready.
"A-Angelica…Suzie…" she whispered, sitting up, she was visibly shaking, "Help me please…help…"
"wally…" Angelica said softly, letting the fire die, she walked towards her, "don't worry, i'll get you out of here." she helped her up.
wally suddenly smiled cruelly, 'fooled you." she whispered as she thrust her sword straight into angelica's stomach.
"ANGELICA!" Suzie shouted as Drakon pulled the sword out and kicked angelica down.
"she really should've known better." drakon said with a smirk.
susie looked down at her friend in dismay, she ran over to her,"Angelica! no please!"
"Suzie…" Angelica grunted going to her knee's, "Get…get out of here…"
"I'm not leaving you," she said, "just calm down and i'll get you out."
"i'm still here you know. "Drakon whispered right behind Suzie, a split second later Suzie suzie screamed as a sword came down across her back, cutting her from her right shoulder to her left hip.
"Suzie!"
"there, now you're both bleeding." Drakon said with a chuckle, "but something's wrong…oh yes i want to be sure they'll find you, so X marks the spot." she brought the sword down again, cutting Suzie from left shoulder to right hip, Suzie screamed again.
Angelica put her hand to her stomach, she bit the inside of her cheek as she cauterized her wound, she slowly pushed herself up, limping towards Drakon as she backed up with a smile, "i'm going to kill you now." Angelica growled.
"give it your best shot." Drakon said, leveling her sword at Angelica.
Angelica brought both of her hands up, fire engulfing them she shot streams of fire at drakon, who jumped out of the way, she swirled fire throughout the room, increasing it.
"Getting hard to breath in here." Drakon sneered, dodging between the columns of fire.
"i'm just getting warmed up." Angelica shouted,bringing all the fire into her hand, condensing it, and then letting it explode out into the room, washing over everything, going around susie so as not to hurt her, Angelica smiled faintly hearing Drakon scream, she slowly let the fires dissipate as she looked around, 'is…is she gone?" Angelica muttered, trying not to fall, she let out a surprised grunt as she felt a blade go through her chest.
"no, i'm not gone." she said, twisting the blade and pulling it out, Angelica collapsed, trying to breath while she coughed up blood.
"Angelica…" Suzie whispered, dragging her self towards her friend.
"oh you look so pathetic Suzie." Drakon said softly as Suzie got to Angelica.
"Angelica…" Suzie mumbled, feeling for the blonde's pulse, 'No…please no…Angelica…Angelica!"
"So heart breaking." Drakon said, "you had to see your best friend get killed, i don't think anything could ever be worse." Drakon grabbed a fistful of her hair, pulling her head back an putting the sword blade to her eyes, "which is why that'll be the last thing you see." she whispered.
Hermit heard a scream of pain, he turned around, "susie…" he mumbled, melding into the shadows.
Peter ran into a low-level room, almost sliding on the soot on the floor, "what the…" he looked around until he saw two bodies lying on the floor, "no…" he ran over, "lucem!" he shouted, making the room illuminate with a white glow, "NO!"
lying not the floor were both Suzie and Angelica, both looked dead.
Peter fell to his knee's beside angelica, picking her up carefully, 'No…no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no…" he felt her neck, but couldn't find her pulse, "Angelica…" he choked out.
Zack teleported right beside peter, "Peter i…oh…" he looked down at the two bodies, "oh man i'm…i'm sorry…"
"who did this…" he whispered, "who…"
a gasp from Suzie made Zack and Peter jump, they looked up at the young african american girl as she started to take in deep ragged breaths, Zack ran to her side and helped her turn over, and he visible flinched when he saw her face, her eyes were almost completely destroyed, they looked like someone had dragged a blade across them several times.
"help me…" she whispered, "help…i can't see…i-i can't see…"
"calm down Suzie…" Zack said, "we'll get you help." he looked over at Peter, "help me move her,"
Peter looked between Suzie and Angelica, hesitating.
"Peter!" Zack shouted, getting his attention, "help me! i can't teleport with her in this condition, it could kill her.
"then let me take her." Hermits voice sounded throughout the room as he came out of the shadows, kneeling by Suzie.
"it could hurt her…"
"I shadow travel, it's a lot different then teleportation." Hermit said, picking her up easily and standing.
"Hermit…is that you?" susie asked softly.
"yes, rest Suzie, we'll get you help."
"where's angelica? is she alright?"
Hermit hesitated, "rest." he said again, walking to the shadows, "Peter, Zack." he said, "be on the look out, they're saying Drakon's free and he possessed a guard, don't trust anyone."
Sean and Trevor ran into a hallway, "there's too many…" Sean growled, his hand changing from a claw to an ordinary hand.
"oh don't be such a downer!" Trevor said cheerfully, "think of it as more people we can kill!"
"you really are crazy." Sean said, looking around the corner, where demons were running towards them, "we gotta find a way out of here."
"But i want to have more fun with the demons!" he whined.
Sean picked him up and started running again, turning left and right down so many different hallways he lost track, he kept going until he was sure they wouldn't be found, "did you see Malcolm before we ran?" Sean asked.
"Can't say i did, i saw some flashes of lightning, but that could've been a thunder demon." Trevor tapped his ring a few times, "OOH! maybe it's a pikachu!"
Sean chuckled a little at that, "you can only hope…"
a bang made Sean turn around quickly, a hatch on the floor was slowly pushing up.
"oh goodie, something to punch!" Trevor said cheerfully,
Sean stood up, changing his arm into a minotaur's, he walked over to the hatch and ripped it off, "Wally…" he said softly, helping her out.
"t-thank you…" she whispered, visibly shaking, she was bruised and battered, and was also crying.
"what happened?" Sean asked.
"Drakon…came out…took over one of the guards…he…he killed angelica and susie…he almost killed me…" she started crying, burying her face into her hands
Sean sighed, and looked back at Trevor, "We got to get her outta here."
"you're right, normally i wouldn't care, but if drakon's down here, we all need to leave.
"c'mon Wally, we'll get you some help." Sean said,helping Wally up.
"T-thank you!" she sobbed, "Thank you…"
Trevor took the lead, with Sean right behind him, Wally followed, tears slowly going down her cheeks, and a smile breaking out across her face.
