Alexbelle All The Way!
Cato POV:
"Get your lazy asses out of bed now!" Enobaria hollered, marching down the hall. I could hear her shoes stomping on the ground as she burst into my room.
"Great to see you too Enobaria," Clove said, her eyes still closed.
"Clove get out of his room right now and change, or I will rip your teeth out," she said, pulling the blankets off of us. Luckily we were fully clothed or that would've been really awkward. Clove felt around for the sheets, which were now on the floor.
"Enobaria, why are you doing this?" Clove basically whined.
"Because I don't want my tributes being late to training looking like shit. Now you both take showers and get dressed," she said, spinning on her heels and marching out. Clove sat up and looked at me, her brown eyes twinkling.
"Well we better go before we get our throats ripped out," she said, getting up and pulling my arm up with her.
"Good morning," I said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Good morning to you too," she said, standing on her toes to kiss me. She walked out of my room and I jumped into a shower. After I changed into training clothes, which were the same as last years, I walked out of my room to see Clove eating a lot of breakfast.
"Clove don't eat to much or you'll get sick training," Lena said shaking her head disapprovingly. Clove was just about to lift another spoonful of eggs into her mouth when she spoke.
"Yeah, well that's what happens when your pregnant," she said, putting the eggs in her mouth. Then she froze, realizing what she just said.
"Clove, you're pregnant. Oh my this is so exciting, who's the father?" she asked.
"Well that's a stupid question, who do you think it is?" Clove asked clearly annoyed.
"Well Cato, I just wanted to make sure," Lena said, trying to find a way to apologize when Brutus and Enobaria came in.
"Ready to train?" he asked, surveying both of us.
"Of course," Clove said, putting her dish away in the sink, "let's go," she entwined our hands and walked towards the elevator.
"Okay, so everyone has already seen what you can do, so no one will under estimate you. I highly suggest going to the other stations besides the ones that you usually work in. You've got to get allies, and Clove and Cato, be friendly," Enobaira lectured us, pushing us off of the elevator. We walked into the training room to see all the tributes next to their district partner. The same woman gave us the speech about how only one person will come out in the next two weeks then she sent us off.
"Cato, I think that we should break up," Clove said looking at me.
"Wait, w-what?" I asked. She was breaking up with me? We were engaged, why now?
"I said I think that we should split up," she said.
"But-but I love you," I said, looking into her beautiful eyes.
"Cato, I mean that I think that we shouldn't train together," she said. "Wait, did you think that I was breaking up with you? Because if you thought that you are the stupidest person ever. Cato, I love you, it's okay," she said kissing me. I actually thought that she was breaking up with me.
"I love you too Clove. I actually thought that you wanted to end our relationship," I say, kissing her again.
"Well I'll start on the right and you start on the left," I say. I walk over to the tributes from 3. Wiress and Betee. They look like they're trying to build a fire, but their hands are too far up.
"Move your hands downward," I instructed. They looked up at me and did as I said.
"Thank you," Betee said as the fire lit. I nodded.
"Look," Wiress said. I looked to where she was pointing but didn't see anything.
"Yes, I wonder why they did that," he observed.
"Wait, what happened?" I asked, still looking and feeling like an idiot for not spotting it.
"Look closely at the gamemaker, you see how the wall is kind of shimmering, that means that there's a force field," he explained. Then I saw it, I wonder why they did that.
"Well I wonder what-" Wiress starts but trails off.
"that means," Betee finished. I guess that they were close back home if they finish each other's sentences. I say goodbye and move on to the spear station. I would say that I'm good at spears, but swords are my specialty.
"Gloss," I say as I pick up a spear.
"Cato," he greets back, hurling the spear at a goldish figure in front of him. The figure automatically disappears with the spear.
"You good at spears?" I ask.
"I'm decent, you?" he turns to me.
"Same here," I say looking at another figure running in front of me, I quickly hurl the spear and "kill" the figure.
"Good shot," he says as he continues throwing. While he's throwing I look over at Clove, she's with the District 4 female. She looks like she's smiling and having a good time. No one would guess it, but Clove is nice. But when she trains she becomes focused and determined. She's moody because her dad physically abused her while she was training. If she did bad, he would hit her, if she missed a target he would cut her. Only I know this because, well, I'm her fiancé. Clove walks toward the back of the room where I see an enclosed space. She talks to the woman and grabs the knifes from a wall. She then walks in. I walk over to see what she's doing. I make small talk with the woman from 4 and learn that her name is Mags, but I can barley understand her. She is much older than everyone else and I guess that's what happens with age. Clove adjusts something and stands in the middle, automatically those golden figures come at her from all different directions with different weapons. She has to dodge spears, arrows, and axes while throwing. But she easily beats the golden figures and walk out of the room. Everyone applauds and she nods. We all go back to where we were. I walk over to Finnick whose chucking tridents.
"Hello Cato," Finnick says as I stand next to him.
"Finnick," I say.
"Have you ever thrown a trident before?" he asked.
"No."
"Well I'll teach you," he said, handing me it. It felt foreign in my hand. The grip was different than a spear and it was much lighter.
"Watch," he said as he threw the trident at the figure, killing it. He helped me throw tridents until I became comfortable. I looked around and saw the morphlings, sitting there at the coloring station, staring into nothing. I looked at the outline district tributes who all looked depressed. Haymitch looked concentrated, eating at the edible bug station. I walked over and kneeled next to him. Right when I got close to him he tensed. The instructor explained the activity and gave me a plate of bugs which I had to sort out the poison ones from the edible ones.
"I respect you and Clove," Haymitch said. I turned to him.
"Why?" I asked him.
"Because you defied the capital and you were in love, and you didn't stop until you were together. I went into the games and I loved a girl in it, she died right in front of me and I couldn't do anything so I know what it's like to love someone and want to protect them," he said.
"Thank you," I said. I checked on Clove, she was with Finnick, tying nooses. I decide to work on my swords. Clove joins me with knifes and together we intimidate all the other tributes.
This continues for the remainder of training. We both feel confident about almost all the weapons. We're going to win.
"Do you have any ideas for allies?" Enobaria asks, right after the last day of training. Interviews are tonight, but not for another like 5 hours.
"I want Mags and Finnick," Clove said.
"I want Johanna and district 3," I said.
"Okay, I'll tell their mentors," she says, stalking out of the room.
"Let's rest before interviews," I say taking Clove's hand. We both cuddle up and rest.
This chapter was boring, but I needed it in the story.
