Chapter Eight: Practice Makes Perfect: Let's Learn Some New Techniques!
As Naruto and Team Seven gathered in their usual Training Grounds, Asuma was now sitting on a stump with three scrolls in his hands and a handful of T2 gems with metallic glows of varying colors. Asuma smiled jovially at their arrival. "Congratulations, you three! You all performed well above what I and the other Jonin-senseis believed. I am especially proud of both Ino's and Shikamaru's performance in their battles. Because of that, I have a scroll containing Ninjutsu that I believe will compliment your different combat styles. For Shikamaru," he said before tossing a scroll his way.
Shikamaru caught the scroll and opened it up. His eyes widened. "But these are..."
"Earth Release Ninjutsu specifically meant to protect your allies or trap an opponent. Since we found out that you have a spectacular affinity with Earth Style, I figure that these would help you out the most."
"Thank you, Asuma-sensei," Shikamaru said in awe.
"It's no problem at all, Shikamaru. You've more than earned those with your performance," Asuma said. "For Ino."
Ino caught the scroll and opened it up. She too had an awed look upon her face, though her smile ruined her poker face. "Water Release and Earth Release! Awesome!"
"I noticed during your battle with Tenten that Sasami heals her wounds by absorbing the water from her Mist technique. By teaching you a Water Release Ninjutsu, you can also heal Sasami and injure any opponent caught in the area of your technique. The Earth Release Ninjutsus were meant to give you a way to fight alongside Sasami through close- to mid-range Ninjutsu to compliment her mid- to long-range techniques. You've both shown you are capable of working together by combining her Withdraw, the momentum coming from her spinning, and the Razor Leaf techniques to give her an astounding Area-of-Effect technique. Hopefully, you will be able to use those techniques to adapt in a similar way."
"Thank you, Asuma-sensei," she said gratefully.
"Now, for Naruto," the smoker said with a proud smile. "I'm genuinely thankful that you have a Wind affinity that matches, if not completely outshines my own. So, for that, I think I've picked out a few Ninjutsu that you can use to the best of their ability." Asuma tossed Naruto the scroll. "We're both fairly close- to mid-range fighters, so I figure that you could use some jutsu that compliment those abilities."
Naruto caught the scroll and opened it with gusto. "Wind Release: Great Breakthrough, Wind Release: Wind Blade, and Wind Release: Vacuum Sword. Awesome, but what good is it to have two sword-like techniques?"
Asuma paused and chuckled a bit. "To normal people, they would assume the same thing. However, the Wind Blade technique creates a blade of wind capable of being weilded like a sword, but almost invisible to the naked eye. The Vacuum Sword technique, however, launches a projectile blade of wind from a sword capable of cutting anything in its wake and deflecting incoming projectiles. I won the Vacuum Sword technique off of a good friend of mine during a poker game about three months ago. He's probably one of the better sword users in Konoha right beside Gekko Hayate and more than a few ANBU. You see, I imagine that you can use the Wind Blade to create Vacuum Blades without needing a sword to channel your chakra through. Of course, in order to do this, I'll have to start teaching you all the first stage in maipulating your affinities. I don't expect any of you to complete the stage, but it will help you in two different ways. The first is that it will help increase your chakra control by making you concentrate on changing it into an element. The second is that it will give you a grasp on what the elemental chakra is supposed to feel like when you manipulate it. On average, it takes Jonin and capable Chunin years to even be able to accomplish the first stage and hardly anyone is able to finish the second due to the high chance of chakra exhaustion that comes with it."
"Cool," Ino and Naruto agreed almost simultaneously. Ino and Shikamaru both knew Naruto had the largest chakra reserves in all of Konoha, though they didn't know the reason why. By increasing his ability to control his chakra, he could fire off jutsus left, right, and sideways without feeling anything. A perfect example is his Shadow Clone Jutsu. He could summon an almost endless army of them without feeling much of a drain on his reserves, something most Jonin can never hope to do without collapsing after creating about five or six. To increase his control, he would be able to summon thousands with ease. It was honestly a terrifying thought and they were more often than not...glad that he was their teammate or even on their side in general.
"Now, for you, Ino. You will have to manpiulate the water from a souce to move out of said source as a rope or a tentacle. It's easier to use water in a cup or a sink to do this, though I suggest using a cup first since larger bodies of water require more chakra to manipulate. Shikamaru, your first stage is to use your chakra to soften the earth in order to manipulate it freely. Think of it as turning the earth into mud using only your chakra and without the need for water. Naruto, your first stage is actually the most difficult." He plucked a blade of grass from under his feet. "You must use your chakra...to cut a leaf or a blade of grass in half." Just like that, the blade of grass in his hands split in half and flew off in two different directions. "To make it a bit easier, I'll give you a hint. You need to make your chakra sharp and thin. Once I am significantly satisfied with your progress will I allow you to attempt the three jutsus I gave each of you."
"But what about those T2s in your other hand, sensei," asked Ino.
Asuma smiled. "That is an excellent question, Ino-chan," he mocked, causing the girl to glare at him while regretting calling him Asuma-sensei. "I actually bought one for each of your Pokegirls. Shikamaru, this one is specifically for Amara. It's called Psywave. It launches a directional wave of raw psychic energy to hit the opponent rather than assault their mind. If she knew this technique, you might have been able to beat Chouji had his Amachop not been incredibly headstrong."
Amara floated over to Asuma and took the purple-blue gem into her hand before handing it to Shikamaru, who pocketed it immediately. They needed a T2 Machine in order to actually teach the technique to her. One was always located at the Pokecenter for Tamers who either bought or found a T2 and wanted to teach it to one of their Pokegirls.
Asuma pulled out another T2. "This one is for Samara. It's called Flower Kick. Being a Grotitle, she's capable of absorbing a lot of damage, making her an incredible close quarters combatant as well as an amazing sniper via her Razor Leaf and Icicle techniques. Flower Kick can be used to suppliment her already incredible defensive power by allowing her offensive power a chance to shine."
Samara walked over and took the metallic green T2 and took it before handing it to Ino, who also put it away for safe keeping.
"Now, since Naruto has so many Pokegirls and I know he might end up fighting one of Gai's students, I'm going to give him two T2s. One for Harley and another for either Samara or Zelda. Well, Naruto? Who do you want the other T2 to go to?"
Naruto hummed to himself as he tried to think of the pros and cons of his choices. It took him a few moments, but Naruto finally nodded to himself, a sign the others took that he was done contemplating his decision. "I'll take the T2 for Samara."
Asuma nodded and fished out a brownish-looking gem and a black gem before tossing them to Naruto. "The black gem is called Faint Attack. It should give Harley some measure of combat ability. The brown one is Focus Energy. It will allow Samara's already powerful attacks to become devastating by having her channel her Ki throughout her body."
Naruto accepted the gifts, already planning on teaching both Harley and Zelda Faint Attack while teaching Samara Focus Energy. "Now, tomorrow we'll begin training in starting to learn your elemental affinities." Naruto raised his hand warily. "Yes, Naruto."
"I'm afraid I won't be able to come in to train tomorrow," he said with a sheepish grin. "You see, tomorrow is a very special day for Harley and me."
Asuma raised an eyebrow before checking the date on his watch. Almost immediately, his skin turned as white as a ghost. What had him so scared, you ask?
The date: April 1st aka. April Fool's Day or All Fool's Day.
The day all of the Trixies and Harlequins left their boxes or their habitat and played massive pranks on the village. A C-Rank Pokegirl Mission was always given out to some poor Tamer and his Harem or to a team of Genin Tamers and their sensei starting today at around 1400.
"Alright," Asuma relented. "Everyone can have tomorrow off and we'll start training the day after. You guys are dismissed." As everyone turned around to go home, Asuma decided to try something. "And Naruto." Naruto spun around, a curious look on his face. "Don't cause too much trouble for the poor bastard or bastards who take the mission tomorrow."
Naruto grinned wickedly before chuckling. "No promises, Smokey-sensei!"
With that said, Asuma shrugged his shoulders before disappearing to his own home for the day...and to potentially fortify his home against pranks.
As soon as he got home, he could feel Harley glomp him, her impressive bust being pressed into his face. "Hey, Puddin'!"
"Hey, babe," Naruto replied. "I've got some good news for you. Smokey-sensei gave us a couple of new techniques and T2s."
Harley's eyes lit up in excitement. "That's awesome!"
"Also, Smokey-sensei also gave us all day tomorrow off," he said with a glint in his eye. "You know what tomorrow is, right?"
Harley chuckled like a madwoman. "I know what day tomorrow is. I was just wondering if you did. Tomorrow's gonna be like our honeymoon all over again!"
"Don't you know it, beautiful," Naruto said before initiating a makeout session that lasted about thirty minutes before breaking away and breathing heavily. "Girls," he called out, "I know you're all there watching! Just come out now!"
Within seconds, Harley and Naruto were joined by the other girls in his Harem as well as Erica the Eva. Zelda and Aeris were blushing wildly while Samara looked like she wanted to join in. Erica simply smiled at the couple knowingly, as did Boota and Nezumi.
"All right, girls. I've got some news for all of you. The first news is what is going to happen for the tournament. Harley will be helping me in my fight against Chouji since we want this to be fair. Zelda and Samara would be a bit overkill. If I win, chances are I'll end up fighting against Rock Lee. For that fight, Samara would be the best choice. Fighting type versus Fighting type. Now, Rock Lee and his Amazonlee, Chun-Li, are speed freaks We'll definitely have to train up on our speed in order to stand a chance against them. Afterwards, we'll either end up fighting Neji Hyuuga or Tenten Higurashi. Tenten specializes in weapons, so her Pokegirls will too. Neji is like every other Hyuuga and specializes in Taijutsu that is designed to shut down ones chakra network, so you can expect him to have a Fighting type like Amazonchan seeing as all of Gai-sensei's students were given a Tyamazon from his breeding facility. Regardless of who we end up fighting, Zelda will be the finisher. Against Tenten, though, we might need to fight a bit differently than we usually do depending on who her Pokegirl is."
Zelda, Harley, and Samara nodded in acknowledgement. "The second bit of news is that tomorrow is April Fools Day, so Harley and I will be busy all day controlling the chaos from all of the Harlequins and Trixies that will run amok while adding our own bit of chaos. There will be Tamers and Shinobi Tamers who are going to be accepting the C-Rank Pokegirl Mission that tomorrow entails. I want you girls to do your best to stall them. Don't do anything to hurt them. Just keep them from interfering with the pranks. Erica, I want you to put a rubber chicken on the front door. This is somewhat of a universal sign that a prankster lives here and Trixies and Harlequins will not touch the apartment."
"Won't everyone else put up a rubber chicken too," Erica asked. Naruto shook his head.
"No, because they'll think we got pranked instead. For now, I want everyone to get ready for tomorrow. Harley, Samara, and Zelda will follow me to the Pokecenter. I have a T2 for each of them to learn. Alright?"
The Girls all nodded and went their ways while the three previously named Pokegirls followed Naruto to the Pokecenter. On the way, Naruto informed them about the T2s he got. Within a matter of moments, the trio had learned their T2s. Shortly after, Naruto opted to place the two Technique Training Machines into his PC Box for later use with future Pokegirls. By the end of the day, Harley and Naruto had made several dozen pranks and knew where they were going to plant them for maximum efficiency.
The following day...
This was it. April Fools Day. The day that was guaranteed to bring about a lot of laughs and just as many angry villagers.
Harley and Naruto got up at the crack of dawn and started on their piece de resistance. Before long, there were dozens of Trixies and Harlequins running and jumping around planting prank after glorious prank. Within the next hour, there were furious screams echoing through the daybreak. Just as Naruto expected, his and Harley's grand prank had gone unnoticed by large thanks to the massive amount of smaller pranks diverting everyone's attention.
With wicked smiles, the duo proceeded to play their pranks. They hit Hideki Toujou's clothing shop with paintbombs. They demolished several food vendors with fake rotten products and fake pests. They made laughing stocks out of the academy by replacing their training manuals with crappy, poorly-written porn by some dude named Jiraya. All-in-all, it was an incredibly awesome day as they pranked a crap load of people who pissed them off in the past.
Several Tamers tried to stop them from having their fun as well as one poor group of Genin Tamers known as Team Komugi and their Pokegirls. The only reason he knew about them was because Team Komugi were known as some of the oldest Genin Tamers in Konoha who had never managed to evolve even their starter Pokegirl, in spite of having gone on more than their fair share of C-Rank Missions. However, they were easily dealth with thanks to a small prank in the form of his Combo Sexy Flash Technique by using a Combination Transformation to transform himself and Harley into two nude women barely covered by smoke. Just as their targets try to see more, Harley uses Flash to blind them while Naruto set off a minor exploding note.
Sadly to say, the trio seemed to disappear into the horizon shouting something about 'blasting off again'.
As the duo proceeded to prank and control the pranking of the various Trixie and Harlequin, something odd was happening. Harley began to glow an odd shade of red and orange. Without warning, the glow exploded into dust, revealing a slightly taller Pokegirl with a beautiful complexion and a bust size that looked like it jumped up a cup and a half, causing her tight orange jumpsuit top to burst open near the zipper and revealing just how much cleavage she has.
Harley looked down at her hands, an odd feeling of incredible joy overcoming her heart. Naruto smiled her way. "You evolved! That's wonderful!"
"How did I evolve," she asked, still examining her new body. "We didn't really encounter any kind of tough fight recently."
"Maybe you were already ready to evolve and just needed that extra push that came from playing pranks all day," Naruto explained. He pulled out his Pokedex and scanned Harley.
"Harlequins are natural jokers, pranksters, and entertainers. Each and every one of them has an astounding sense of humor. This is more than likely due to their psychic abilities, allowing them to develop the perfect jokes for their audience. They tend to walk the line between Trixie and Jokette when it comes to their comedy. While they would never seriously injure somebody (That they don't hate) Harlequins can enjoy more physical pranks, often setting people up for smalls slips and falls with exaggerated end results. Yet even when their pranking goes the physical route, their targets still can't help, but chuckle at their antics. Like many dark types they tend to favor chaos although in a less destructive way. A Harlequin would find more joy in a wild party than they would in something like a riot."
"This Harlequin is level fifteen and knows Metronome, Quick Attack, Flash, Blur, Foresight, Darkness, Dark Goggles, Cry Wolf, Faint Attack, and Tickle Fest."
"Nice," Naruto said with a grin. "New moves. This means new pranks. Especially with Metronome. That is going to help you level up and give you a variety of moves that will confuse our opponents in the future."
Harley nodded, still getting used to this feeling of being different, yet the same at the same time. "We're definitely going to have to train though. I want to get used to this new body so we don't lose in the tournament."
Naruto nodded. He and the others will have to train harder than ever. Especially now that they stand a chance of going up against Neji, Tenten, or Rock Lee. Those three have had lots of time to train and get stronger. If they were ever going to stand a chance, this was their chance to show how strong they are and the strength of their bonds.
They had a tournament to win, after all.
