The Elder Slayers Ch 10
Sunset Club
There was an excided air in the club, even if most of the patrons had been banished for the evening. Today was a day worthy of note as the second time since its inception that it was closed; the reason being that it was the long awaited birthday of the Huntress.
The Huntress was a creature that many of the night knew and died against, in human form she was small, blonde, and mouthy. In her more bestial form, she was large, armored, and vicious. The former Slayer, Buffy Summers, had been born nigh seventeen years ago; and in the months since Halloween she had been rechristened as the Huntress in deference to her successor.
Thus the usually crowded club was filled only with the friends and family of the Huntress. Even her mother and sister were in attendance to the party, being led to believe that Ethan Rayne owned the club and as a friend of Giles, closed it for the party.
Alexander raised a cup into the air and said, "Let us enjoy this feast of ordered pizza, non-alcoholic beverages, and store bought cake, so whatever gods have deigned to give us this glorious meal have no reason to be angry."
Cordelia snorted at that and the group dissolved into twittering masses of flesh. When the mirth subsided, everybody grabbed a slice; ready to dig in. The eating was done mostly in silence as everyone enjoyed the pizza that wasn't actually all that bad.
Once the meal was eaten the group dissolved into various gossiping groups; Buffy was with her mother, Giles, and Jenny; Willow and Tara were talking with Oz; and Alexander was speaking with Cordelia and Liam.
"Hey, Xander," Cordelia said, "Why is everybody calling you by your full name? I mean, yeah, you're bigger and badder than you were…. But not by that much."
"I'll admit to being curious myself, "Liam supplied.
Alexander shrugged, responding, "It is the effect of my aura. Humans and demons alike cannot help but feel it unless they are strong enough to resist."
The ensouled vampire cocked his head in confusion, "Then, wouldn't we be feeling the effect as well? I mean, don't we both fit into those categories?"
Seeing Cordelia nodding at that, Alexander said, "It is a matter of both how I feel about the both of you. You, Liam, are akin to a son to me, and I would never allow you to feel such an immense fear. As for Cordelia, my aura would feel, if nothing else, like a warm caress."
"Now wait a minute!" Cordelia exclaimed, "Why the hell would I feel it like that?"
Alexander, "My aura would never touch one so blessed by Molag Bal. To you, my touch is nothing. And my wife was never one to be brought down to the level of the common man."
"Your wife?" Cordelia asked.
"The Cordelia of my reality of the other reality was the wife of Alexander of Harrisholm."
"But you called me 'Lady Cordelia' when you saw me on Halloween?"
"Well, Willow had already explained to me what was happening. So I knew that to simply glide in and take you, was not appropriate behavior," Alexander explained.
"And the reason this never came up after?" Cordelia was becoming two things; angry and aroused. Xander had a body blessed by a god, sue her.
"You are many things, submissive is not one of them."
"Damn right, Skippy."
"Well," Liam said, gaining the attention of the young pair, "I think I know where this is going, I'm going to go talk to… other people."
As he left, Cordelia turned to the Vampire Lord, "This place have bedrooms?" At his nod she continued, "We do this fast, you don't talk, and I'm on top the whole time!"
Sunnydale Cemetery 10
Dalton snarled at one of his minions, the idiots kept dropping the boxes. He did not want the magic in the creature to be released before he could get it all together. He would finally have his day, destroy that pesky Slayer, and her predecessor. With a quick look around he headed for the truck that one of his minions had procured.
As the last of the pieces was loaded he called for the group to head out. They did not head out. Dalton turned to see what was keeping the driver and was met with an unwelcome sight. There was a crossbow bolt sticking to the back of the driver's seat and a pool of dust on the butt warmer. Thinking quickly he threw himself to the side and ran, shouting for his minions to grab the boxes.
He also told his Fyarl to kill whoever was shooting.
Kendra da Vampire Slayer calmly walked towards the truck from the entrance to the cemetery. It took some time to reload the weapon, so most of the minions had already grabbed the boxes and jumped from the truck. One had already made it to the opposite edge of the cemetery and with a quick action she launched a bolt at him.
He exploded into a blast of dust and his fellows took the opportunity to run. One of them picked up the box that had dropped when he turned to dust. Kendra finished reloading but did not have time to reload as she was tackled by a large slab of demon. Dalton's Fyarl roared at the downed Slayer, preparing to rend her in two.
With a though Kendra summoned Dawnbreaker and sliced the demon's descending arm off. As it reared back in pain she launched herself back onto her feet. With a quick turn she grabbed her fallen bow and launched one last bolt, it failed to hit any of the fleeing vamps, but it struck the already abused box in the hands of the lead minion.
The box shattered and an arm fell out. She watched in between dodging the Fyarl's one armed strikes, as the arm animated and attacked the vamp she had been trying to dust. Seeing she could do nothing to catch up with the fleeing vamps she refocused on the horned demon she had already crippled. It was a short time later that the beast's head rolled to the ground followed swiftly by the rest of it.
Kendra thought it best to tell Mr. Giles about what she had seen and headed to the ally Vampire's Club
The Sunset Club, front room
Willow and Tara talked with Oz about everything and nothing. They touched on subjects as varied from advanced magicks to the stupidity of Harmony Kendall. Oz eventually steered the conversation into a direction that the other two had not expected, "So… Buffy?"
"What?" Willow asked, in hope that their friend would continue.
"Single?" The monosyllabic teen responded.
"Why?" Tara asked, curious as to this strange occurrence. Oz was saying quite a bit with his pensive facial expression alone.
"Smells good," was his response.
There would have undoubtedly have been a bit more exposition from him if the front door did not open and draw all of their eyes to the metal entrance. They watched as Kendra entered and looked around before heading straight to Giles.
"Mr. Giles, I need to speak wit you," The black Slayer told the Watcher.
With a quick glace to make sure that Jenny would occupy Joyce for the time being he nodded at her, indicating a table in the corner that they could talk at. As they walked purposefully there, Giles waved Buffy over, and the blonde disengaged from her conversation with Angel to follow. The souled Vamp stepped in behind her.
"What do you need to report?" Giles asked as soon as they were far enough away not to be over heard.
