Finally finished this chapter at *glances at clock* 12:26 am. Lovely (can you sense my sarcasm?).
Well I am going to bed. PLEASE REVIEW!
ON WARD KEVIN!
For the second weekend in a row, Anna had slipped out of the mansion with out so much as a whisper of a trail as to where it was she went. And again she returned before the vampires had awoken on the Monday for school. Adreanna however had become edger with each passing day, thanks to her vivid nightmares. She had tried many things to induce rem sleep, where the night terror could not follow, but she had yet to succeed.
Adreanna scowled at the flyer that had been taped to her locker. It advertised the Halloween dance that the school had on the last day of the month. She was already annoyed that she had to attend a ball to celebrate the Sakamaki Sloth's birthday on the ever approaching Friday, something that she had been notified about by Reiji, in the morning (night). To top it all off Reiji was going to make both her and Yui practice ballroom dancing everyday after school until the ball, and never in her life did Adreanna dread a up coming Friday.
Practically ripping the filer off her locker, the mute crushed the paper in her gloved fist until it was in a ball, before throwing it the trash can as she walked down the hallway toward her first class.
Adreanna found herself falling asleep in class, she had at most three hours of sleep in the past two weeks, and she was becoming desperate.
At lunch Adreanna went the the vending machine and got coffee, hoping it would keep her awake for the remainder of the day.
Sitting of the roof, the mute sat on the roof sipping her coffee, leaving a strong bitter taste on her tongue. With her lunch finished the mute looked though the contents of her ipod seeing she had a new message.
Griff: Hey. How is operation 'sleep through the night without having a single nightmare' going?
Anna: No sush luck
Anna: *Such
Griff: What is 'sush luck'?
Anna: Shut it
Griff: NEVER! My very existence is to make you both laugh with joy and cry in frustration.
Anna: Why do I even bother...?
Griff: Because you love me.
Anna: I am starting to seriously debate that.
Griff: No Annie, come back. Don't leave me all alone.
Anna: ...
Griff: "I'm all alone, there is no one here beside me" (quote from Shrek if you didn't know)
Anna: You are so over dramatic.
Griff: Annie, you've come back to be. I will never let go.
Anna: Don't you dare start quoting titanic. Is there a reason you are texting me?
Griff: Well yes. I found this tea online, it is proven to help induce delta sleep. It turns out it is sold at a little tea shop it town not to far from your school. I'll send the address.
Not a minute later the address was punched into the GPS app on the mutes ipod. It wasn't even a thirty minute walk from the school.
Sending a quick thank you text, the mute got up from her place on the ground of the roof before making her way through the school, towards the exit.
Just before the gates, Adreanna past the front benches where a certain blonde sloth laid across one of them, seeming fast asleep.
Just as she the about to pass the threshold, sapphire blue eyes opened ever so slightly, and the owner of said eyes drawled in a deep voice, "where do you think you're going?" A sigh of irritation was herd clearly, coming from the mute. "Why do you care? Why don't you just go back to sleep and pretend you never saw me?" Adreanna typed out turning on her heel towards the lazy vampire.
"So troublesome. Be back before the end of school, I don't want to here Reiji lecturing you in the limo on the way back to the house, disturbing my sleep." The blonde vampire turned over on his side, back facing the mute. Turning back towards the gate Anna was almost through the gate when "one more thing", Adreanna bit back a growl on irritation "what?", if her voice wasn't computerized it would have sounded sharp and angry.
"What did you speak about with that man when he came last week?" Shu asked back still turned towards the blue haired girl. "He spoke of...business and dealings that he required my assistant's with"
"How could a mere human like you give assistance to the vampire lord?"
"He has had ties with my family for generations when it comes to certain dealings, that is all you need to know" the blue haired typed quickly, stopping anymore questions from being asked by walking away quickly, out of ear shot and off the school grounds.
Arriving at the tea shop in town, Aderanna inhaled the smells around her. She had preferred the smell of steeping tea leafs, to that of the perfume she had constantly sprayed on herself. The cheap perfume made her want to gag every time she wore the offensive scent, the first time she wore it she had swallowed the bile that rose in her throat. Just a few more months Aderanna kept telling herself, then I can stop this charade.
The idea made her lips twitch upward ever so slightly before dropping again as a store clerk approached her, a fake smile plastered across the middle- aged woman's face. "Hello, Miss. How may I help you today?" she asked in an overly cheery voice which made the blue haired mute cringe. Pulling out her ipod the mute pulled up the name of the tea that she was given and showed the screen to the woman. "Ah, your looking for that tea, it is a best seller you know", the woman went on and Adreanna tuned her out as the clerk guided her toward the shelves in the back corner. "
Picking out a rather large cylinder with a dark blue label from the second highest shelf, the woman handed in to her, "here you go". The blue haired girl looked at the size of the can before reaching toward the shelf and grabbing a second one, "those aren't cheap, Miss. Perhaps you should come back with your parents to make sure you can pay." The woman hardly finished her sentence before the mute waved her off heading to wards the cashier, a cylinder in each hand. Placing them of the counter, she didn't even spare a glance at the price tag. Ringing the tea in the cashier glanced at the young piercing filled face of the young girl in front of him. He took one look at her a seriously doubted she could pay.
"Your total comes to 10400 yen" he nearly sneered, making the crows feet beside his eyes far more noticeable. Not even batting an eyelash the mute placed slightly more than what was needed on the counter, not waiting for the man to respond before grabbing her tea and walking out.
As she walk, Adreanna pulled a bag from over her shoulder, opened it, placed the tea canisters inside, before closing it and placing back over her shoulder.
Taking a glance at her ipod, Adreanna saw that she had an hour before she had to be back at school. Deciding to skip the rest of the school day Adreanna walked down the street spotting a store that caught her eye, and made a b-line straight for it.
The smell of cinnamon wafted her nose, and the blue haired mute nearly moaned. While she didn't like many sweet things, milkshakes and cinnamon buns were the exception. If a body was one's temple, and there were cinnamon buns in the area, all healthy thoughts were thrown out the widow for Anna.
Adreanna walked back to school, content, and licking away any traces of her sweet treat from her lips.
She had arrived at the limo only moments before the rest of the household did. The mutes eyes meet with Shu's for a split second, before getting in the limo. Shu simply grunted, happy he would have to listen to Reiji nag the mute all the way back to the mansion.
The ride was quite as it usually was, the only sound being Yui's deep breathing as she laid across Ayato's lap, past out from blood loss. Though Shu looked asleep, he was focusing on the sound or rather lack there of. Adreanna didn't seem to be breathing at all, but then he heard the smallest of breaths, they were few and far between. Listening closer he picked up the beating of her heart. It was oddly slow, but powerful. Each pulse was like a pounding drum. He briefly wondered if he had a heart condition, but to lazy to finish the though he let it go and feel asleep.
Adreanna scowled up at the black haired, glasses wearing vampire in front of her. They had been at each others throats for the past hour. Adreanna despised ballroom dancing even as a child. She knew how to, mind you she wasn't the best, she just knew the basics. But she simply didn't want to show the vampire that she knew what she was supposed to do, it also helped that she was making Reiji more irritable with each passing second until he finally gave up, insisting that she practice in her room before their next lesson tomorrow.
In her room Adreanna pulled out one of the tea canisters and tucked it under her arm, moving towards the door that lead to the hallway. Adreanna's steps were silent as she attempted to get to the kitchen undetected. Seeing how she barely had a presents, it was relatively easy.
When she arrived in the kitchen the mute placed a kettle that she found in one of the cabinets and filled with water on the stove. Reading the directions on the container carefully, Adreanna placed a spoon full of tea leafs in a mug before grabbing the now boiling water off of the stove and pouring it into the mug.
The tea's aroma filled the air around the blue hair mute, causing her stiff posture to loosen slightly.
Not want to drink her tea in the kitchen, risking an interaction with one of the occupants, the mute cleaned up the little mess she made and carried her tea, and container back to her room. Dressing quickly for bed, Adreanna began to drink her tea, trying to relax, in hopes that she might sleep through the night.
Setting her empty tea cup on her night side table, a memory bubbled up, as her mind played on the milky edges of sleep.
Flash back
The young blonde, who had only just reached her thirteenth year sat in a comfy chair in the dimly lit room, facing the unlit fire place, as it was becoming to warm for it to be used.
A book lay in the girl's newly bandaged hands. She had, had a skin graph not two weeks ago, and was struggling to turn the pages. The girls eyes which were once so warm an full of light, were hard and unfeeling, an black leather eye patch laid over her left eye.
"Sunshine" a melodic voice called out as they entered the room. The blonde said nothing but cranked her head to face the figure, the woman standing off to the side. "Hello, my little sunshine" she said quietly, a smile gracing her lips making her smile line and crows feet stand out, showing her age. "How are your hands?" no answer, at least not a verbal one, just a simple shrug of the blonde girl too bony shoulders. "there is someone here who wishes to see you, is that alright?" Nodding slowly the girl rose from her seat, following the elderly woman put the door and down the hall, towards what the girl new as the dining room. The lighting in the halls was to bright for the blonde girls newly sensitive eyes, and they began it burn and water. The elderly woman looking beside her to see the girl covering her eyes, pulling out a pair of sunglasses from her pocket and placed them on the girl's face, feeling a twinge in her heart when she felt the girl flinch under her touch.
"There we go" the elder of the to murmured gently raising from her kneeling position for in front of the girl. "All better?" a nod followed. Giving the girl a small encouraging smile she continued down the hall toward the dining room.
The butlers that stood at attention in front of the double doors that lead to the dining room went stiff as a board and pale as a ghost when their eyes landed on the the small thing... Girl, they corrected themselves, in front of them. The girl could smell in coming off them, the fear, it was so prominent she could taste in on her to tongue. She payed no mind to it, turning her attention to the elder woman beside her. She felt nothing like the staff in front of the doors, she held no fear, hatred and pity towards the girl. She simply looked down at her like she always had, with love and affection in her hazel eyes, the same ones that the girl had.
The doors were opened by the shaky hands of the staff. Sensing the power rolling of the figure sitting at the farthest seat of the dinning room table, the blonde haired girl raised her eyes to meet the gold ones that belonged to the white haired man that sat there.
"Sunshine, you remember Karl Heinz, don't you?" the elder woman said from beside her. The girl did not nod, she simply looked at him from behind her sunglasses. And he looked right back. He took in her too skinny frame, her hollow cheeks, her bandaged hands. She was still recovering from her time away.
Standing from his seat, the white hair man walk past the three other woman sitting at the table and stopped just in front of the girl. Getting down of one knee he took off the sunglasses that adorned her face. She hissed at the sudden brightness, but met his eyes with a glare and a snarl. "She has changed" he said to no one in particular, and he gazed into the cold depths in her eyes.
A smirk appeared on his face, showing of his elongated canniness as he saw the fire that burned in her eyes, the raw power that she could hold.
"Such fire, yet ice" he murmured standing up, but never breaking eye contact with the girl, holding out her sunglasses, which she all but swiped from his hand, earning several gasps from the woman seated at the table. He walked back to his seat with out another word, the smirk still on his lips.
"Have a seat Sunshine, I have asked the staff to make your favorite" the elder woman said, still beside her. The girl did without a word.
The aroma of tea filled the room as the staff poured in for the six occupants as they awaited dinner. The girl stared into her cup, putting her sunglasses back on. She took a deep breath allowing the scent to fill her lungs. Earl grey, it was always her and the elder woman's favorite.
"Did the staff make it to your liking, Sunshine"
The smallest of nods.
"Good. I am glad."
Adreanna drifted off, not even realizing that she had began to hum the tune 'you are my sunshine'.
